Booking.com Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

July 22, 2022

The worst booking experience I have ever had. I made a mistake, but called within 15 min to fix. The said bc there is a no refund policy you cannot change the days. Which is NOT WHAT THE FINE PRINT SAYS.

How do I give it a negative number
July 21, 2022

I am fuming. I booked through this site and they continually charge my card, they have overcharged me double the amount of what I was advertised originally, the customer service is useless, I am out of town for work and they are just draining my account. I'm an artist I don't make a ton of money and this has been so stressful for this trip to deal with. They just keep making charges when I am supposed to be getting refunds, this is RIDICULOUS. DO NOT BOOK USING THIS SITE.

I have been with hotels for 25 years from housekeeping to front desk to management. Nothing about a third party booking agent is good. The hotel industry has this thing called rate parity. Meaning a booking agent can't offer a hotel's rooms any cheaper than the hotel can offer them. Priceline gets around this by offering rooms in your location and in your preferred "quality" bracket. But this means that you really WANT a Hilton, but they put you in the Comfort Inn that's falling apart, but the price allows them to get their commission and still offer you a rate you're willing to take. Booking.com also won't let hotels respond to reviews criticizing them, it's in their review guidelines, and they won't publish it if we encourage calling the brand directly (TOTALLY DO THIS! WE WILL WORK WITH YOU! We aren't able to be flexible if you booked outside of the brand!) or if we say anything negative about booking.com. I get so many reviews that are about "Booking.com is horrible, I'm rating this stay a 1 out of 10 because booking.com screwed up" and those kinds of things are dings on the HOTEL. You may have had an amazing stay at a wonderful hotel where the staff treated you like royalty, but booking.com was the WORST. Where are you directed to leave your review? To booking.com... where you're reviewing the HOTEL, not the booking agent/travel agent. But as the staff of the hotel, we only see that we got hit with a 1, even though everything about the hotel is great on the review, but the agent was terrible. So please, if you have a problem with the reservation, not the hotel - don't review on the travel agent site. Review on Google or TripAdvisor or the brand directly. Those things help the good hotels stay good and call out the bad hotels on their shenanigans.

Sneaking in fine print
July 21, 2022

I am very disappointed with Booking.com and their customer service. I was unaware a $100 cash deposit at the hotel upon arrival. I called and the person I spoke to was rude and unempathic of the situation. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, she refused. I will no longer use their services.

Booked accommodation through booking.com in Southampton to attend our sons graduation. Booked a couple of months in advance. After his graduation we called as requested to give a check in time to be told we had been "re designated". Arrived at the accommodation to be told our reservation was cancelled and we should have been notified. We had not. Then they stated it was only cancelled an hour previously. We had been driving since five am. We were left stranded in Southampton and the only alternative booking. Com offered was in West Sussex, nearly two hours drive away. Sickeningly tired after the day. We had no choice but to drive home through the night as we could not find alternative at such late notice. Will NEVER use them again. Their customer service agent was rude and patronising,

Bad time
July 21, 2022

Upset with booking.com! Told them I'd pay at check in. Money was taken from my account without my knowledge! Also they mixed up check out day and we had to leave a day early. This caused numerous problems, since we were in a high altitude health could have been compromised due to the hotel basically kicking us out! Owners were not cooperative in any way once they found out we'd used booking. Owners are hard to reach. They said they could not tell me my room rate or provide a receipt since booking.com was used. Also this hotel had glowing reviews, but not from me. Numerous problems occurred. No screen on window, hot room heat on? Coffee pot quit. Shower not regulated as to temperature, no matter how the handle was turned stream was either scalding hot or freezing cold - this is dangerous. There were like 8 things plugged into a power strip which is a FIRE HAZARD. We will not be staying at Mountain View Lodge, Red River. NM again, nor using booking.com. We feel as if we were ripped off and treated badly all the way around! I have no receipt. They would not provide one!

Beware! This company is a big scam!
July 21, 2022

We were traveling to a foreign country. We made a reservation for a rental car and an apartment and paid for them immediately. The next day we received confirmations for both. The payments were charged to our credit card. Then, without notice, both reservations were canceled. We showed up and did not have a rental car, then we ended up on the streets of Sao Paulo without a place to stay. When we finally got ahold of Booking, they told us that our account had been blocked and "due to security reasons" they couldn give us any more information. They have not refunded our money and are blocking all other transactions. They have stolen our money and they say our account is "under investigation" for some reason they will not tell us. Our credit card company has confirmed that no payments were rejected and there has not been any reason for Booking to complain.

They hide important information like cancelations fees. I was charged full price for a hotel reservation canceled two weeks ahead. Really their service is low end. They were of zero help and I won't use them again.

I booked my vehicle with booking.com; and pre-paid $552.62 for my rental. However, at the time I picked up my rental I choose to add additional charges including: pre-paid fuel, vehicle upgrade, as well as insurance coverage at my cost.

At the completion of my rental the total cost was $932.34; a credit of $552.62 for the pre-paid voucher should have been applied, BUT IT WAS NOT. I should have only paid the difference of $375.72 since I had a pre-paid voucher in the amount of $552.62; however, I ended up paying an additional $156.92. Upon questioning why the total pre-paid voucher of $552.62 was not fully applied, booking.com informs: "Regarding the 156.92 USD price difference you see applied from the car hire company, this refers to our profit."

This should have been fully disclosed to the consumer upon booking their services. I feel totally ripped-off and will never use booking.com services again. Buyer be aware of what you're paying for!

According to trip advisor, Courtside Inn Niagara Falls rated 1.2 star. Completely broken rooms, mould in rooms etc. please check the majority reviews and then decide before you book. Once you book without knowing through priceline or booking.com There is no refunds or transfers. All your hard earned money is in water. Do not call and book with Priceline or booking.com. Where as most of the hotels you can cancel before you check in. Please read the reviews and book. I have lost 245 CAD. All the best guys

When contacting booking.com to explain our experience they made an excuse that we should of contacted them as soon as the incident happened. We were in the Bahamas with no signal so there was no way to contact them. They refused to help this will be my last time booking through them.

Me dan largas. Mi último recurso será denunciarles.

Made a reservation for a hotel for 200€+ yesterday. The page reloaded after the payment was processed and the booking was not complete (the reservation email was also changed after the reloading to one I 100% did not write which, if it is an actual email, is against GDPR as well).
I contacted the customer service center and simply put they are just making fun of their customers. I had to explain the situation 3 times on email as it seems they are passing the email from one agent to another and are not willing to read the description that was sent before. They are repeteadly telling me that I can write an email to reservation *******@booking.com (even after explainjng multiple times I don't have the booking number because they didn't complete it) or to call a customer service phone number where you also need a booking number to be connected to an agent.
So they are stealing and making fun of their customers. The only possibility of me getting my money back is if the bank decides to refund is as booking.com is not willing to do anything.

Knowingly scammed me and wont pay me back.
July 18, 2022

Used booking twice with a friend and had no problem. Until on a road trip to Vegas my husband and I decided to book at a low end road side motel I read reviews from other sites and felt pretty good about the decision being lead to believe they had updated/renovated the place. Long story short this wasn't the case at all! I found out they are paying people for good reviews which is totally illegal. And They own 2 different motels and advertise the nicer one as the other one (the sands motel). I looked into other rooms just to make sure. Not only did I not receive the motel or room I was lead to believe I booked but it was absolutely disgusting with mold in the fridge, blood in the shower and walls. Sheets and "rag" falling apart no longer white. There was no continental breakfast or hot tub. That they said they had. Because it was at a different motel. When I informed booking about the situation. They admitted this was wrong and would make sure it wouldn't happen to other people. But they AREN'T REFUNDING MY MONEY! This whole process took almost 4 months I was extremely patient. With countless times of me contacting them through phone, live chat, emails and PayPal. I know the Sands Motel is breaking the law with false advertising and Booking.com is helping them do it. And willing stealing money from people. I'm looking into filling a lawsuit against both places if you've been in the same situation or can help. Let's get in touch to stop this fraud.

I am a Catholic priest. I am traveling with a group on a budget. We were looking for reasonable accommodations in Nashville. Found a hotel on their site which had decent reviews. Booked 5 rooms. Looked up hotel to get address etc. and found reviews saying it was basically a dump. Tried to cancel and explain their website is inaccurate. No help. Hotel would not budge. Lost our money. Do not use their site. Father Linus

Customer service by automated bots
July 17, 2022

Bought an admittedly "non-refundable" 7 days at a resort hotel. Upon arrival, hotel looked nothing like the posted photos. Hotel manager acknowledged the misleading photos, said it was a perennial problem, and offered a refund. After we had left, booking.com communicated with the hotel and they declined refund (over $900!).
After several attempts to chat with booking.com customer service via their chat service, it became obvious they were just automated bots giving canned, unresponsive answers. Ultimately, they said there was nothing they could do and I was left to make an appeal to my credit card company.
Booking.com is generally a useful service when things go right. But when there is any problem, there's no one to talk to, and they'll evidently do nothing to correct fraudulent or misleading behavior from their stable of hotels.
