The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

We booked a house through booking.com. We paid the entire cost. The host required documents which we sent and he claimed never to receive. In turn he refused us entry causing us to get multiple hotel rooms.
When Inquiring with booking.com they admitted their messaging system messed up and still refused to pay us because the host already had our money despite us not having stayed there.
Booking.com cannot be trusted to get you into a room or refund you when their system steals your money.
Do not use booking.com

Booking.com took my money for a reservation.
The owner of the accomodation told me to cancel and pay cash on arrival.
I couldn't cancel and get a refund... so I told the owner... they said well you cannot stay here then!
Booking.com not passing payments on to owner.
Waiting for a refund... never again
Booking.com uses a 3rd party contractor called Go To Gate to handle their flight customer service. They are awfully and intentionally incompetent. They will not help you with flight cancellations or adjustments. I booked a flight that got stuck in "pending" status and their only solution was to wait 3 days for it to go through. Mind you, the airline acknowledged it was odd for it not to have gone through immediately and suggested I have booking.com contact them to walk them through how to fix the status. Go To Gate refused to call, saying there was nothing they could do. I said, "All you have to do is call and the airline will do the rest." I then booked the trip directly through the airline and called Go To Gate back to cancel the pending ticket, since I now had a confirmed one. They refused to cancel the pending reservation and refund me my $. I disputed it with my bank, but the absolute lack of customer service and problem solving is alarming. I will NEVER use booking.com for another flight again.
I are getting ready to fly to Iceland on Icelandair from Chicago. I booked the round trip flight through Booking.com, and in looking at the details, we were charged for one checked bag. I questioned the 1 bag, as there are two of us checking bags. We were charged $142.00 for the checked bag only to find out that for our Standard Economy ticket, a checked bag is already included, so I have no idea what the $142.00 Booking.com charged me is really for. And when I called, an agent I could barely understand kept saying, if we check a bag, there's a charge. What a rip off. I will never use Booking.com again.
Booking.com wrote to me two weeks before my trip to say that the balconies in my Hawaiin condo complex would be under repair, being stained, work crews, unusable during my stay, and offered 50% off or a full refund. I chose the later. You'd think a "full refund" means that the money they took from my credit card would be the same amount as what was returned. No! They claim the missing $250 was "currency exchange" and the cost of doing business. My credit card company rep says they get a lot of complaints with booking. I'll never use them again.
Same thing happened to me as to several others who've reviewed. Booked for 6 nights, told the hotel when I arrived that I was cancelling the last night, hotel didn't charge me but ripoff.com did. Subseqently I read the fine print sent to me by ripoff.com. Seems that's one of their main ways to make money is assigning a cancellation date in advance of the hotel's cancellation date. Stay away!
They process your payments via Amsterdam so you will incur transaction charges. I contacted them before we paid our holiday and was told by their customer service team UK transaction so I would not incur charges which was rubbish as they processed payment from Amsterdam and I incurred £64.37 charge. I took this up with them they first said they would refund me and then they said they would not. You really don't know where you stand with them or can trust a word they say. I will NEVER book anything with this company again. If we all do the same they will go out of business.
I reserved a hotel room on booking.com and paid through my paypal account. I never received a confirmation email but I was charged for the room. When I called booking.com customer service, a recording came on that says they cannot help you if you don't have your confirmation number. But they never sent it! Do you see the endless loop they put you in? I contacted paypal to open a case. In the meantime, I sent messages through the booking.com website but the response I get is "sorry without a confirmation number, we can't help you." This is madness! What kind of way is this to do business? Then I found out from paypal that booking.com is contesting my claim and said they did in fact send me the confirmation email. Turns out they sent it to the the wrong email, not MY email. So paypal immediately refunded me. Thank God. These are the emails I received from booking.com telling me that they couldn't help me without a confirmation number. Which they never sent me. Which is the whole reason I'm contacting them! Then they gave me a phone number in the UK to call which I did and I got the same stupid recording that they couldn't help me without my confirmation number. So I just paid for an international call for nothing! Don't ever do business with booking.com. I have never seen anything like this. The worst business model I have ever seen.
Confirmation number 2903. 055. 552 - had to leave my POOR accommodation at Earls Court London on 01/08. Put in an immediate cancellation request and to waiver the fee- the property was filthy, window didn't open (it was 28 degrees with no other source of air), sticky substances on the walls, excrement in the bottom of the toilet, the shower broke off in my hand - all of which with my 9 YO son. I spoke to reception; she offered zero reconciliation and she told me to speak to Booking.com as they regulate the payment--- so I did. I've had to chase them today for the operative state that I have a 20% good will refund - 20% of the total booking which the hotel has been paid! Absolutely disgraceful and I'll never ever again use this platform! The worst!
We booked a stay at a hotel the eve before our departure from Anchorage, Alaska. When we presented to check in, with our confirmation number, they had NO SUCH RESERVATION! It cost us over$ 100 more to secure another hotel elsewhere. After several comments made to them, I have yet to hear from them regarding a refund. Yes they charged me for what they called a " no show" stay! The nerve!

Don't book with them!
Pretty much scam artists at this point. Have tried many times to get in touch and am forwarded to a third party partner which is also horrible. Booked a flight, tried to reschedule and got 0 response from booking.com and have now filed a complaint with BBB and will be taking this further. Do not purchase your ticket or anything from this website. Lesson has been learned.
Booked a flight but can't talk to anyone about changes. It has been so frustrating! I will not use them again.
They are now handling reservations for Priceline and you should avoid using either platform if you're in Canada. The prices shown for Canadian hotels WILL CHANGE after you've agreed to them and confirmed the reservation, which seems silly in 2022 when you're using a Canadian IP address, a Canadian credit card, a Canadian phone number and a Canadian mailing address to book a Canadian hotel. Getting anyone who can help or even understand the issue via phone or chat service is impossible and you'll be stuck paying far more than agreed as they'll change the currency on you even though the confirmation email (from Priceline in my case) doesn't indicate a different currency. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID and book directly with the hotel or a reputable Canadian service.
Don't spend any time, money or energy with this sham of a company. The have interest in your experience or satiisfaction.
I recently booked and apartment through Booking.com in Porto, Portugal. Our criteria, among others, were to have AC, Elevator, washing machine as we had elderly and children in the group. These facilities were mentioned on the Booking.com web site. After arriving there we found that there was no washing machine. It caused a lot of inconveniences and we had to spend time finding a laundry place. The hotel told us that it was the fault of Booking.com for not providing the right information about facilities when they invited me for buying an ungraded apartment by paying extra bucks. I tried to contact customer service with my messaging app which is hopeless and they are not capable of resolving issues.
I booked a rental car through booking.com but came to find out that the car rental place was nowhere near the airport that I put in to pick up the vehicle. I called several times to cancel my booking and could never get a live person, and most times, my call was just disconnected. I tried the online route, and you keep getting directed to another page. I sent an email to cancel and got no response.
My company credit card statement came in this week, and they sure did collect their money even though I canceled and never got a car. I started the claim for a refund, and they sent an email asking for information that was already lined out in the first correspondence. Did they read it? Who knows?
I booked a flight. Flight thank goodness went fine except I paid $55 to pick a seat and $50 in insurance for protection. So my seat got changed by the airlines. I calledBooking 5 times. Each time a rep said a supervisor would call back. They did on an international number. When I picked up and this happened twice the person on the phone ignored my hello's. Horrible customer service and to think if my flight had got cancelled they never would have fixed my situation or given a refund! Impossible to call or text the numbers supervisor back. No wonder this 3rd party boul$#*! company has a 1.7 rating! They suck. And my advice never go thru a 3rd party to save a few dollars cause in the end its not worth it! Booking.com uses GOTOGATE as the affiliate. They are horrible customer service.
I booked a 2 night break and unfortunately had to cancel as I just couldn't afford to go.
23 days later I still have not received my refund from Booking.com.
This is despite me raising this with them 7 days ago, utter joke and I will never pre pay and book with them ever again!
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: I don't know why you're even using this site Stephanie. Their after sales is disgusting! Recommend travel Republic. Great prices and options
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: NOT BOOKING.CON
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
