We called both Booking.com and the Holiday Inn to cancel 18 hours before our stay, the call was at 9:30 pm on 4/15/23. The girl I spoke to stayed that she would call me back with in a hour.
I then called at 9:00 on 4/16/23 and spoke to a Mark and he stated that they were waiting on the Holiday Inn to OK the cancellation and that it would take 24 to 48 hours.
I called again at 6:05 pm on 4/18/23 and Antonio stated that he will send the request again to the Holiday Inn asking for the cancellation and return of credit card charges. I also spoke with the Holiday Inn, they stated that the refund was up to Booking.com.
I'm just getting the run around on this issue.

We checked into Casa Vacanze Sky and Sea on June 8th. First the owner refused to meet us. Then a vile smell of sewage in the apartment. Blocked drains and no hot water. Booking com sided with the owner and we're left with no choice but to leave on the third night. We couldn't find anywhere in Sorrento so had to pay €35 in a taxi to an apartment outside of the city at 10.30 at night. They let us down badly. Terrible company

I can't even express how frustrated I am with Booking. First of all, you can't even leave a review unless you have stayed somewhere through their platform. First red flag. Second, they don't own up to their mistakes. My husband and I booked a great deal, and even called to confirm that the price would not change...two weeks went by, and they decided that was a good time to tell us that we needed to pay an additional 55$ per person, per day. They didn't even mention that it was THEIR fault for posting the wrong price. They said if we didn't respond within 72 hours, they would cancel our reservation. I quickly got on it, and called booking to resolve the issue. They danced around the issue, weren't helpful, and kept promising they would "protect" us and make sure we had a place to stay...well, LESS than 72 hours later (only a day) they cancelled our reservation without our permission. They kept saying "I don't know why it was cancelled without your permission, that's weird" Now we are out a place to go for our honeymoon, and they could care less. As someone who never complains, and who is actually terrified to make phone calls and stand up for myself, I feel all my efforts were in vain. I just want to spare the shy people like me who struggle with confrontation. Don't waist your time and energy with this company. They won't take responsibility and resolve the issue. They won't protect you, and you could be stuck on hold for over an hour. I'm completely defeated.

Used Booking.com for various hotels in Italy and when something went wrong (they posted a room as twin beds instead of a double and wouldn't allow for a refund and dodged an email and two calls. They promised to call back after escalating an incident and didn't. On the third call back, customer service apologized for my "aggravation" and refused to let me talk to a manager or escalate the issue. They refused to take any responsibility, blaming the property owner, who then blamed them. It is a scam. I will never use them again.
I booked a hotel on my phone. It told me my card would be charged. I am booking for employees that are 4 hours away and don't have my card. They get to the hotel and they can't check-in because they don't have the card. I call booking.com and they never sent my pin, so that took an hour to get through. They told me normally they charge the card and the guys check right in. They canceled it at no cost to me, at least I think they did. Today I tried another hotel to have the same issue. I get a guy on the phone that doesn't understand English. I told him 4 times that my guys are 3 hours away from the card and they can't use it. Since the hotel will not let me get the room or fill out an authorization from. I took a screen shot of it and they will not let me send it in. Now I have to pay for 4 rooms when I need two.

I made a reservation then I modified reservation for 1nt less. I was charged BEFORE stated time the FULL amount of original reservation without modified adjustment. Contacted the property and reservation modification and rate adjustment was confirmed by property. I Contacted Booking Com requesting refund for adjustment then 2 days in succession there were two same amt of charges on 1 day and three same amt of charges on another day. I spent countless hrs holding on phone to sort out incompetence including submitting credit card charges screens as requested. They have refunded only original charge but ignored the five small charges and customer service agent unable to verify WHAT those charges are. I've dealt wth Booking Com BEFORE Covid and had NO problems wth various bookings but current staff is untrained to understand clients frustration and are incompetent to resolve issues.
Perfectly situated on a unique cliff location for ocean views and after a sumptuous breakfast accompanied by bird song on the balcony, hiking access down to a stunning private beach and surrounding natural cliff paths. Stayed five nights. Within walking distance to Foz, Canico tucked into one of the sea caves for offers gastronomic delights from the sea for lunch, or numerous short drive or taxi delightful options in town of Alvor for dinner. Foz club fresh linens daily, clean, walk in rainfall shower, tennis if desired, roof top pool, secured entry gates, and most of all the perfect delightful host owner! Will return to this sanctuary!
Took my money and gave me a confirmation, only later to realize that the property had no electricity and were unable to entertain us. Three days they kept promising that they would compensate us and relocate elsewhere. To my surprise the third day when I was expecting an option from them, I got an email from them saying that the booking has been cancelled and they have initiated the refund. Two days left for the scheduled stay and all hotels and resorts are full now. They screwed the whole holiday. I recommend everyone that they shouldn't take their confirmations as 100 percent, instead call the property directly to avoid last minutes surprises

I advertised my property on this site a month ago and I am still waiting for the payment. They have lot of issues in their booking system. One of the worst platform to advertise your property. I bought an international flight which was immediately canceled. I paid for it and they held up my credit. Customer service was atrocious. They kept reciting their refund policy and told me to just go ahead and book another flight. With what? They filled up my credit. I am appalled with their lack of responsibility and ethics. We booked a flight through booking.com, we received an email indicating a refund and then an itinerary with different dates then we had booked. After repeated calls, I called the Air Canada directly who resolved the issue. Also note it is very difficult to contact Booking.com. Never again, save yourself the headache and book elsewhere.
I stayed a Monumental a MovieLand hotel in orlando booking.com took my payment two days before my stay when it was a pay at the property get to the property it was disgusting nothing like the pictures roaches dirty bed was broken no microwave mold Jim was shut down game room was shut down Wash machines did not work dryers did not work. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.

When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees.
