The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

The worst to deal with. Total scam!
I work with a hotel and the credit card they send never authorizes. EVER! I have begged the hotel I work for to stop taking their reservations. We'll see when their cards keep declining for payment how that turns out!
Try calling them? You can't! Not without a pin number. I work at the hotel, I'm not a person that paid for a reservation so I don't have a pin number!
They do everything they can to stop you from getting them on the phone! And from the reviews I've read, not that that would matter anyway.
I booked a hotel room through booking.com for 2 nights, when I got to the hotel I found out that I could have booked directly through the hotel for fifty dollars per night less, they explained to me that this happens quite often, why use them if they are overcharging you.
Got what was suppose to be a nice place to stay the last two days of our vacation overlooking Michigan lake. Booked a two bedroom for 5 people with a view. What we got when we arrived was a two bedroom that said 4 people max! No sofa for the rest to sleep! A wonderful "view" of the parking lot. Had to rush to Myers to get an air mattress that barely fits! It's tiny and dirty! Asked for another room and the guy said he was just there to check people in and doesn't really work there. The website said all "ALL" two bedrooms where on ground floor as we have one person who is handicapped! We got placed on the second floor! 5 people cannot sleep in two full beds! It says free cancelation so hopefully we can get our second night back and go back to quality Inn!
They not helping at all. To get email to hotel u need make payment. Then u can send email but if is not good (por example coz check in time u need earlier) they not giving u money back!
And never reply on customer service!
I made a reservation with then when I arrived at the hotel nothing, the dates had been changed, I called customer service and they did not solve anything, I had to pay again at the hotel bad experience, dont lost the money in this app
Booking.com does not deserve a star. I will never use them again. Their pictures they show on Hotels/Motels are false. My husband and I used them for a Tahoe trip. The hotel from the outside and particularly the inside of the room looked like a whore house. The toilet seat did not fit the toilet. Electrical wiring was sticking out of the wall. The room smelled like urine. One towel, one hand towel. The office to check in was a joke. We didn't stay one night there. We checked out the day we arrived. Went to a different hotel. We did not get our money back; we didn't care we just wanted to go elsewhere.
We booked one week stay in a hotel called Olive Grove Beachfront Seaview, Kavos, Corfu. The hotel organized transfer for us from the airport to the hotel. However, when the driver delivered us in Kavos he did not know where the hotel is. It was midnight. We started calling the number and acquiring the nearby restaurants. Nobody answered to our phone calls and the local said that such a hotel does not exist. Stranded with a small child, we started to look for another accommodation. I informed booking about our experience and insisted on removing the hotel from their database. They confirmed that nothing will be charged to our credit card. I received a cancellation for 0 euro. The big surprise came in 2 days, when we received 2 debits for amounts whose total sum exceeded the reservation price. I contacted immediately Booking, however this time they expressed a different opinion - that the hotel exists and we did not appear. I submitted an official claim with Booking. Regretfully, I have never received any answer. I was not expecting that Booking will support fraud but apparently they are doing also this sort of business now. Strangely, after my complaint, a few fake reviews ( all rated with 10) appeared about this hotel on Booking and before there were none.
I used booking.com to book a hotel room. The pictures of the hotel room on the website were NOT the same as the actual room. I was traveling across the country and had been driving for so many hours that I just wanted to sleep. The room was gross. It seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. I slept on top of the blankets and used my own pillow. The next day my feet were swollen with bedbug bites. I was itchy and uncomfortable while having to drive the entire next day. I immediately contacted the hotel and booking.com. The hotel said that they "got an exterminator and that there are no signs of bedbugs." I sent pictures of my feet and ankles to booking.com and the hotel. Booking.com stated that the hotel would not refund me and that they said there are no bedbugs. Ok so take the hotels word for it even though I have pictures?! So I have asked the hotel and booking.com now for over a month for proof that the hotel provided an exterminator. No one will show me and I have been refused any compensation. I had two other bookings with booking.com for the future that I have now canceled. I deleted the app and I will not use them again. They are shady and seem to not care about the customer AT ALL. Beware of this super sketchy buisness.
If I could give no star I would. I can't see how it works to not allow someone to change their reservation by ONE DAY due to a change in work schedule. I called the hotel and they have double digit empty rooms on the day I would like to book so it is not that there are no rooms. The rate is the same. The customer service here is ZERO. I have been on hold with BOOKINGS over 30 minutes to see if they can help resolve the issue. I am booking for a trip to California via a La Quinta in Las Cruces. This will be the last time I use a bookings reservation and I advise you to book directly through the hotel. They don't have to pay a booking fee, you get a real human to answer the phone in a reasonable amount of time AND you have great flexibility for life which sometime doesn't go exactly as planned. Ironically the Bookings site suggests I call the hotel directly as they would be able to help me best but they can't do anything with a bookings reservation! Ha, what lies!
Stayed in San Diego, 6 of us. Apartment was bare bones, which I could tell from pics, but. No hand towels, just 3 wash cloths. (?) Bed was JAMMED in room so tightly you could barely squeeze by to get to light which was wedged in opposite corner. No A/C, which we didn't know,. They only had 2 small fans. Not enough for 6 of us. Very VERY hot to sleep. Parking was a NIGHTMARE, you had to find a spot on street and every time we were many blocks away. Pool closed at 5. No cleaning products, extra trash bags, hot pads, dish towels or brooms available. Broken window shades. Not enough lighting. When I tried to review on Booking.com, it wouldn't upload, magically. Never again. 2nd bad experience with this co!
Unbelievably bad experience. I have just tried to stay in 2 places post lockdowns. The 1st place was a filthy S*** hole. Turned up at there were dirty plates left around a bin full of stinking rubbish. Wet towels and floors. And we in such a bad mess that in the age of covid no one in their right mind would stay there. The 2nd place a week before we were due to stay there we had a notification that our date had been changed to a month later, which we had not change ourselves. We contacted the customer service and they said they can see the host has changed the date for us for some reason and they will contact them to ask why and can they change it back as we are going to need to stay there on the specified date and not a month later when we are not in the area! We then got an email from customer service saying the host cant change the date back and there is a no refund policy. Ridiculous you cant book a room for a certain day then the host change the date and tell you there's no refund
Just call the hotels directly, it's safer and you'll receive better rates. I paid to book and hotel and even if everything seemed to work on the Booking.com website, no reservation was ever made due to an internal error@ Booking.com. Customer Care told me they would refund me in 7 to 12 working days... more than 1 month later I still haven't received my money back... Probably I will never get it back. I will just delete my Booking profile and use the website to find hotels that i will call directly instead.
I never knew that people have so many bad things to say about Booking. I have used this service countless times already and decided to finally write a review. And what I see here. I'm shocked. Anyway, I've never had any issues with Booking, the process is always smooth and everything works great.
Magnolia House- Destin, FL - Unit #304
Terrible experience! We vacationed at a Vacasa condominium that was advertised as upgraded and nee and we were shocked upon entry to find mildewed windows and cob webs throughout the lanai area. The carpet was stained and the unit had missing door knobs and tiles that were old and dirty. We had to wear shower shoes the entire time. Appliances were old and the patio door required body-building strength to open and close. One bed smelled of urine and the hvac system didn't cool well in the bedrooms. Garbage disposal was broken and they randomly sent a repairman to the unit to fix it without prior communication. This property rented for over $400/night which is on par with some 4-star accommodations. The blonde manager who claimed to be "the boss" was rude and chastised my son for riding an e-scooter on the property after we explained that we had previously made aware of the "no motorized vehicle" rule and we were headed back to our condo just about to get on the elevator. She was on a warpath! Sad that this had to be our vacation experience as vacations are meant to be relaxing and enjoyable. Beach access requires a 400 yar d hike across super soft sand and/or a golf cart ride I would certainly not recommend this establishment as the rooms are hit or miss, management is very rude and impolite and beach access is ridiculously arduous to get to and from. There are better options at cheaper prices in and around the Destin area.
What a bunch of thieves, charged me twice for the same thing, can't call them, hotel doesn't pick up and says you contact booking who don't pick after 40 minutes on hold.
Complete con artists, what a massive mistake, avoid them at all costs.
Had my worst experience with booking.com.
I rented a car 4 hours ago, paid for the car. When I reached the pick up, they asked us to give the physical copy of the driving license of my friend. We didn't have the hard copy. Instead a soft copy. My fault.
I called booking.com to change the name of the reservation to my name as I was in the possession of the hard copy of my driving license. They refused to help me and charged me a sum of 88€ as a fee from a booking I paid 146€.
I had to book a new car.
They refused to help me for such a small thing. It's such a reputed company but still needs these cheap ways of earning money. They throw terms and conditions on your face and will never help you.
It's better to go on the website and make the booking as it will be less expensive and with better terms and conditions.
For the same car, when I had to rebook it. I had to pay 110€.
I had to undergo the loss of booking 2 cars just because booking.com refused bluntly to help me out. So you guys, think twice before going there
I recently performed a Google search for a Gatlinburg hotel Reagan Resorts I was interested in. In the search it showed a Deal on the hotel 35% off only 175 a night. There were only two rooms left so I pick the King Room.in the checkout total it showed $89 off booking.com discount, which was less than the $123 total 35% off price they advertised, so I know I should have stopped there & questioned it. I added my credit card and selected an option to pay later, instead of all up front(good thing I did). When the transaction was completed the total bill was@ $100 higher that in the checkout. I took a picture of the discount listed in the Google search and called booking.com customer service, sharing the proof of the advertised discount, as was told after an hour back & forth on hold, that they would not honor their advertised price, instead I noticed while I was online with customer service, the 35% off deal went away and it then showed $220 night for the rooms. And they charged my card for the 1st night and wouldn't give me a refund. Crooked, dishonest people and company. Buyer beware, do not use Booking.com or Trivago. Never one in in the USA and both are crooked and dishonest.booking.com charged me 281 for the 1st night, we checked out after 1 night (hotel was very old refurbished and not worth that price) and the hotel refunded our card for the next two nights.
I had a very disrespectful guest who arrived with another family, having only booked for one family. I got in touch with Booking.com to ask for advise. None was given. They said they would sent a message to the guest. Who knows if they ever did. When the guest left they left and very damaging review which was totally untrue. I answered it of course. I contacted Booking.com again and asked for the review to be removed and provided evidence of the untruths told. They simply said, we cannot remove a review. Didn't answer any of my queries. I telephoned them and was shouted at... I could go on! I have now removed my listing as this is the worse customer service I have ever experience and they only care about making money, most certainly do not help any host!
I am renting a house to one individual. He is not staying there but using it for Booking.com. Apart from being illegal (my mortgage company would never allow) the bathroom floor is unsafe. I have written and written to Booking.com to ask them to suspend advertising my property as they are facilitating an illegal and unsafe practice. I added surely you must have a duty of care to your customers who could get hurt. BUT THEY REFUSE. Absolutely irresponsible. The Law says it will take me 8-10 months to evict my tenant. In the meantime Booking.com are not prepared to help. DONT USE BOOKING.COM they dont check the accommodation they are offering. I am the owner of the property and therefore do not have proof of purchase.
This company claims to "help" you book your hotel. To summarize my issue, after driving 10+ hours I arrived at my hotel only to be told I don't have a reservation. Meanwhile I have all of the confirmation from booking.com (Priceline) having no where to stay is a scary feeling. After trying to call multiple hotels in an area I have no idea (just for a place to rest)… I finally secure a hotel. Meanwhile I am still "on hold" with customer service. They finally answer and offer to help me find another hotel (which I had found) and claim they will refund me for the stay at the new hotel. I end up getting a small 28 dollar refund after promised the 150. Customer service claims they just honor the difference… yet I was told differently. So they make two mistakes and upon calling did nothing more. You are much better off just calling hotels instead of using booking.com or Priceline. You never know when they will make a mistake and leave you to fend for yourself while they take forever to answer a phone. Trust me just don't use this company.
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: I don't know why you're even using this site Stephanie. Their after sales is disgusting! Recommend travel Republic. Great prices and options
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: NOT BOOKING.CON
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
