Amazing that this site continues to function. The guys I've met here have been very nice overall, but the platform is seriously outdated. The user interface is archaic. Search functions are horrible. This site functions just as it had over 20 years ago without any betterment or investment by the owner/moderator. I cancelled premium membership and was blocked from even accessing my profile to delete. Now, my profile and photos are forever used on the site as if I'm a member. The site delivers a message that they're providing access only to premium members. The moderator is taking advantage of the community at large. Steer clear, there are many other forums that don't steal your information and prevent you from accessing or deleting your information. Cannot find words to fully express my frustration over this useless, rude and greedy moderator.
It was nice being on there for awhile but the owner he is a rude and being on the computer dating online it's a little old-fashioned and everyone uses apps now welcome to the future so i don't care if they block me because he is a rude about it
Refuses to accept requests to delete profiles. Blocks you from making changes (at all) unless you're a paid member - which I've been many times over the years.
Currently ignoring requests to delete entirely.

If he does not like what you say on his site, he will delete you. I was a paying member, but then I stopped. Then you start getting the upgrade notices. Then I complained about it to him. He deleted. Yes rip off the community, is correct, Mental problems FOR SURE.
I wanted to get off the site and sure enough my profile was deleted as I have requested. But then my card was charged not once but 3 times after that. I sent Greg an email demanding my money back. But nothing... This is illegal and very frustrating.
Had issues with a member! Asked for Help! Got No Response! After asking several times, i asked to delete my Profile several times! No Response! I read a review of a guy having the same problem... He says to write something negative on your profile note about this site... And then they will block you an only then! They'll remove your profile from the site! So! That's What I Did! I believe it worked! I met Mostly Great Guys on this site! Don't get me wrong! But the Web Master IS & $#*! HOLE! A Real JERK! You loose control over your profile! And you're his Slave! I joined recently. Paid $9.99. Impossible to keep track of messages and many messages do not appear in message history. Sometimes takes over a day for incoming messages to be posted! JUNK! CRAPPY SITE! ANd no way to communicate with customer service! HORRIBLE SITE. AVOID!
Not only ahve I been locked out over a month now but my message count has been going down making this site seem so much more shady than I thought, First I was asked by the owner to video chat with him nd when I declined he deleted my account 3 times! Sorry I have standards and they werent met.
As for this being a free site? Its usually locking folks out just after they start messaging back and forth in an attempt to get you to pay for a site that must have been designed by an infant in 1980. Truly super clunky and run by a nut job. PS I am told by many he reads all messages and filters some private messages out.
Allows you to join. Then blocks access to messages for days trying to force you to pay for a membership. ALOT of glitches. They are not helpful and they are typically out to get your money. Once you do pay, payments will continue to accrue month after month. There's way too many dating sites out there. This one should be avoided like a plague.
This is the absolute worst of the gay dating sites. People who have walked away from the site and have not been active for years are still counted as users. People who pay for the site and don't renew (because it truly is not worth what Greg is charging) get locked out until they pay again. That's extortion. That's what the site is like. Plus it looks like it was designed by a child.
I have to laugh that the site claims to be the best and the reviews here show it be number 717 of dating sites. That sounds more accurate to me.
I have been a paid member off and on for years. I only pay when the site offers a deal that makes it worth it. Unfortunately the idiot who runs the site doesn't have the brains of a two year old and can't figure out that what he's pandering simply is not worth what he wants to charge. More and more people are not renewing and he doesn't get it. He also leaves profiles on long after people leave and tries to claim them as members. Take a look at the last time many of them were on. Hell, some of them are probably dead by now, but he still claims them as members.
The site is really pathetic and it needs to be put down. Or Buddybear Greg needs to be put down. Either one would be an improvement.
I have only good things to say about the men I have had the pleasure of chatting with on Bear411over the years. However, buddybear, the webmaster / proprietor is an altogether different story. Last week I attempted to update my profile picture. He did not accept it, even though it adhered in all points to his guidelines. Since he does not avail himself to any questions, I put a note in the text body of my profile nothing vicious, a quick, even humorous remark. He promptly deleted the entire text of the profile, I was a paying member and I really hate his extreme "my way or no way" attitude. Of course I'm a stubborn bastard as well. I asked him to delete my profile and got for the first time what I had asked for.
Made a profile and got the email that said it was activated but I was never able to access the site nor did it show a profile for my screen name at all.
WORST was that there is no way to contact the administrator. Emails to *******@bear411.com all come back undeliverable.

Being in 2 partnerships with white men 17yrs and 6 yrs. I am convinced that Bear 411 is a site for white men connecting as fair weathered friends, their connections and marriages. Furthermore; a site for minorities or diversity "no," I guess they are afraid the black will rub off, then we talk about the GOP, last I wouldn't refer to the smell of paper mail on Bear as stuck up, you have to have the qualifications. However, men with their bolts not tight is how to define it.
I canceled my account with bear411 in 2006 and its now 2016 and they keep taking $9.95 out of my checking account through CCbill.com. I have never been able to get ahold of the owner of Bear411 / and its taken forever with CCbill.com this owner is a big SCAMMER! Of course I am out of my money so please read the reviews if think about signing up Don't DO IT!
Every single night between 8p-10p EST the ability to send messages to other members fails to work.
Me and multiple friends on the site have tested and proven it - we report it - sometimes it gets fixed for a day but 98+% of the time the chat function doesn't work after 8pm - which is when a majority of working people want to use the site - totally dsyfunctional and complaints are totally ignored.
The web master seems to have some mental problems. He will not answer question about why certain pictures will not be allowed; like me wearing a pair of western Boots and my Rolex watch. I have been on the top 10 list for over a year, since pushing my question, I have been removed from the list. As I told him he is not hurting me, because my money spends just as good on other sights.
No telling what "Buddy Bear" Greg is doing with all the private info. He is collecting on every member?
Similar issues as other reviewers. The site is coded from the 1990's, and the total number of members is actually quite inflated, the actual active member count is quite low.
The site just went thru another week of 'only VIP members (paid) can log in', and oddly enough my paid subscription had just run out days before... I think it's set up so it locks you out so you'll pay up again... sorry dude don't think so.
Do a google search on "bear411 sucks" or "bear411 problems" and you'll see there's quite a few problems with the site and the webmaster.
False Advertising. "Join Now Free" But you cant's really use the site unless you pay. This guy is making a lot of money off of the bear community... over priced... Rip off! Stay away... there is no way to delete your profile... he wants to make it look like the site has a lot of members but most are just unsuspecting bears that were lured in with the false advertising and unable to remove their profiles.
This site is VERY unprofessionally run. The webmaster changes the rules of how things operate, on his whim.
Membership is a lot more expense than some of the other, similar services, but offers less. No app on iPhone or Android, and the very POOR see experience.
Now, boom, has decided to cut access to non-paying users.
No way to delete my profile, or even change the profile that is there.
Bear 411 is the worst dating site I ever seen, I was a paying member for 3 month, communicating with other members was not user friendly at all so I stopped paying but even though it says joining is free, all is free is using your pictures and profile to show they have lots of members, no way to delete my profile.
It's more like scam, I hate the site.
Stay away from it.
