I used to love this site, was a paying member for years, etc.
Besides all of the censorship, games, etc here is the basic problem with his "business Model"
If I'm a paying member and see a non-paying members profile and send him a message the non-paying member cant respond to me. Now I'm paying for a service but I'm not getting the service I'm paying for.
Its gone from annoying to downright fraud.

I have try to join Bear411 for the last 15 years and they have never accepted me... by the way I am black near 300 pounds. They are the most racist site of all $#*!ing time. I object and they should be sued!
Like what others have said, when my priority access expired I was no longer able to access the site. Buddybear takes awful vengeance when you stop paying. I have friends who have NEVER paid and they get blocked once or twice a month. My priority access ended at the end of May and today is June 13 and I've not been able to get in for over a week.
I am a non paying member and frankly I am reading all these reviews good bad or otherwise. Yes he has made it more or less difficult to view profiles but as a non paying customer I simply go with the flow.
I do not care to see every man in my area anyway as I am a married man now and do not have for such nonsense because basically I have friends on there that I chat with and nothing more.
And you cannot see who viewed your profile the usual way as buddybear made it for paying customers however you can scroll down and look at who viewed your profile and see their information.
To me most of these negative posts are nothing more than sour grapes from other non paying who are whining about the loss of free.
And you can delete your profile simply by writing buddybear and most of the time he will delete it.
A very bad website. The owner choses when he wants to block free members though it is supposed to be a free website. Paying for a membership gets you guys looking for a instant hook up. Avoid this website by all intentions!
I thought I would like this site have paid on and off for years. My debit card was compromised by someone and replace try getting Verotel to call your bank is like pulling teeth on a duck. Try to get buddybear to correct it is a joke. The same old faces logged in forever without an automatic reset is this sites biggest issue. These stuck up Queens are looking for men that are nonexistent.
For no reason whatsoever, my profile just disappeared, and I cannot login I've tried to reach out to support and no response also the format is very dated 1990s.
I have had the same experience that a lot of other people have had here where I was not allowed to rejoin the site. I am hairy, have a goatee, and am nowhere near thin. I can only assume that the fact that I have longer hair is the issue that prevents me from being allowed to join this site again.
I have been on B411 for several years. Some of that time as a paid 'priority access' member. I have had periodic problems with access & annoying 'messages' which are no more than solicitations for money. No matter what the problem, "Buddybear" is not responsive or accessible. I have given up and will never go to the site again, I don't need the frustration.
I joined 2 days ago and have never received an email allowing me access. Every time I try to log in, it says my account is under review. How long does it take to review an account. I even paid for membership and can access the site. Sorry I every joined.
This site is old and useless. Worst thing about this site is that you can't control your own profile as everything has to be "approved" first by a single moderator. Deleting my profile took months and months of attempts to contact the webmaster (Never even got a reply) and I finally resorted to changing my bio to trashing the webmaster I recommend this tactic. Also add some trigger words like BearWWW and Growlr.
Stay Away! There's far better options available out there.
The webmaster buddybear is a douche-bag and so are most of the stuck up bears on the website. I only made a few friends on bear411 but never found a lover like the website boasts it helps you do. Being on bear411 doesn't make being gay any easier I think it makes it worse and lowers self esteem because of all the unfriendly bears on the site that are stuck up. Hate it worst site ever. I deleted my profile never to return again.
I'm a muscle bear... my heaviest was 307 i am currently 277... this site is for bears only... there are a few muscle bears in other countries who are awesome but it's not worth paying for... It was free for years and i never dated anyone off the site so paying was not an option! I was a pain to cancel... i had to go the extremes... but its done good riddens!
As like many others I've been a non paying member for several years and now experiencing issues of not being able to log in for several days, or not being able to reply to others, and now I'm not being able to search profiles at all. I now stay logged in with the fear if I log out I mite not to be able to get back in... I agree this site has dropped from its logo of being the number #1 site.
BEWARE of illegal and unethical billing practices. Three months ago I became a paid member. The membership charge is recurring and is processed by two external billing processing companies, which are: Verotel Merchant Services, located in Europe, and CCBill from the U.S. Although I live in the United States, my membership was processed by the billing processing company located in Europe. A month ago I cancelled my recurring membership by following Verotel's established procedure, but this month my bank account was debited anyway. I e-mailed Verotel and the first response I got was that they were unable to locate the disputed transaction. After my insistent e-mails showing proof of cancellation, Verotel finally replied that I should contact Bear411 because their work is to serve only as a billing processor. I contacted Bear411's webmaster without any response. Instead, Bear411 blocked my access because of my complaint.
This site is so bad for the bear community!
Non-paying members of the site are reporting that the site no longer offers the "delete my profile" option on the profile change page. Which means if you want to delete your profile, you have to pay for a month of a service you're trying not to use. It also means the site owner has your information and you cant delete it

First of all, the design of Bear411 is old and really needs some re-design.
I used to be a member of Bear411 a while ago bit I found that other dating sites really overtook (sites like Gay-Boyfriend.com and GR offer a much better value). And additionally, closing an account can be a real pain. The site is not very customer friendly.
However, I still believe that a 1star rating is not fair because the site is better than that for sure! Meanhwile I am still much more happy on other sites and as long as they don't redesign and improve their customer support, I will most likely not come back too soon.
I have been a member for years started for free and now he is blocking non members, before was odd days you could see only your messages and the odd days you could chat with limitations to look at the pictures and now you can not do anything, Just a reminder to the Web Master there are lots of other sites out there Bear411 is not the only only one and the other web masters are not up tide like him, the sites are free and have as many member as bear411... wake up and smell the balls you are not the only one out there.
I joined the site for free. After a few visits to the site, I was blocked access unless I paid. I decided to subscribe for a month, after that month, the same thing started happening, some days it would allow me in, other days it would require me to pay in order to access my account. Now I'm trying to delete my account, and the site will not allow it.
I was a paid member of this site and once my subscription ran out this week I wanted to delete my profile! It won't let me delete my profile at all without re-subscribing! WHAT A JOKE! Thank God I had my credit details changed so the site can't continue to withdraw from my card!
