Looking for that perfect xmas gift for your outdoorsy friend... check out this site. Good prices and fast shipping. The variety isn't as big as REI but they do come pretty close
I got some very good deals on two yeti bikes (previous models). Shipment of 1 bike went great. Something went wrong on the second shipment and it was delivered to an old employer address that I had not been near in 14 years. I had taken the address off of my profile.
A notice came that the bike had been delivered, but not to my home. I just had 3 packages delivered to my home address. The package showed up at the old work address. UPS left it in the 2nd floor lobby outside a vacant office without a signature ($6000) MTB.
The customer service rep acted like the whole thing was my fault. It did not occur to him that they lack the proper controls for confirming purchases of big ticket items and the addresses. The company used 3rd party insurance and authorized UPS delivery without a signature.
I should have caught the mistake. A similar bike 29" vs 27.5" wheel size had just been delivered about 3 days before this one to my home address.
Is it too much to ask for a signature on big ticket items like this. Is it too much to not go into automatically blame the customer mode.

THIS COMPANY IS TERRIBLE. I purchased 2 hoodies and they look NOTHING like the photos online. Worst quality I have ever seen. The sewing and material was awful. And the hoodies received were not even close to the same hoodies I purchased online. The packages were in Chinese writing, and came from China, with Chinese return addresses. The company is refusing to give my money back because they said the hoodies were on sale, but every item on their site claims it is on sale.
This is a terrible company. DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM THEM. They are deceptive, liars, and fraudulent. They lie about their prices and what they really have in stock. THIS ONLINE RETAILER NEEDS TO BE SHUTDOWN AND ONLY THE PUBLIC CAN DO THIS BY NOT BUYING FROM THEM.
I have ordered from Backcountry many times. Shipping is speed and always free with purchases $50 and up. Returns are easy and refunds prompt. Merchandise is quality. I highly recommend!
SCAM ALERT. Buyer Beware. They gladly take your money, and you will never get it back. You may however recieve a Cheap, flimsy, smelly version of what your ordered in a couple of months. And you can let your child wear it. If you can get stink out of it. CHINA CHINA CHINA. No wonder it took so long to receive. You can find better quality at the outlet mall, and take home your CRAP the same day. SCAM ALERT SCAM ALERT
Shipping department slower than a Sears & Robuck Catalog. Once the package eventually does ship and get lost, customer service department couldn't care less. I'll be shopping elsewhere.
Wow, I am totally at a loss for how awesome they are. Upon making a purchase I had a phone call from an account manager who wanted to make sure that I was happy with everything and offered to answer my questions and help me out if I needed. Turned out that one of the boots I bought was too small for my left foot, and it was a large ticket item so I reached out to my dedicated account manager and she got me all set up for a refund basically doing everything except actually shipping the boots back. Aleisha, my AM is awesome, she also gave me a call and provided a heads up on some camping sales which were timely because I've been borrowing camping gear my entire life. I figured it was time for an upgrade so I ended up getting a ton of equipment at discounted rates. If you want to learn a trick with purchasing stuff from backcountry, make sure to visit activejunky.com before hand because you will get cash back for your purchases as well, which is what I do. I highly recommend both of these merchants!
If you value your privacy, stay away from Backcountry.com After placing my order, I began to get pop-up ads in my browser window and they began spamming my email.
I ordered North Face backpack from them with the 2 day shipping. It came right on time and it looks exactly like it was supposed to. I would definitely order from them again!
WARNING THIS IS A HUGE SCAM! The sweatshirt was absolute garbage, literally and they WILL NOT GIVE me my money back! And now they will not even respond! Do yourself a favor DO NOT BUY! THEY ARE HORRIBLE, I AM SHOCKED!
This used to be the best site to order affordable gear from.
80% to 90% of the gear was reviewed by their own people. The reviews were honest and real. 5 to 8 years ago I bought almost all of my camping and hiking gear I currently own from them and those purchases were based on the employee reviews. I think they were called goat heads mountain goats or something like that.
That gear has lasted me for this long, because it was quality.
Now it seams that you have to be part of their loyalty program and spend min about each year to have access to what they now call gearheads (which makes me think auto parts, not backcountry) for assistance. Which translates to someone at their home office reading the company supply info on a product, not someone who goes out and uses it.
Their prices aren't any better than drop shipping web site. They know nothing about the products on the site.
You are betting off doing your own research and buying from a mom and pop shop or direct from the product manufacture.
I ordered two belts for my Al Kreitler bicycle rollers when the existing belt broke on Christmas day. It's now December 28 - the belts arrived this morning, 1,100 miles away. Now THAT's service!
Worst shopping experience ever. Been trying to contact them for over a week about a response to my order but still no resolution. No more backcountry for me.
Ive just purchased a backpack and had a few questions and Alexander B. Helped me and gave me the best discount and was just overall an amazing person to help me. 10/10 recommend, made my whole day!
Calling SLC is a true pain in the A**
Fyi, Park City answers in 10 seconds and has access to SLC inventory... I will NEVER CALL SLC AGAIN. They SUCK on the phone service end. After you listen to the redundant pain stacking music tract with B.C. SLC while they attempt to market you over over the music. Geeze, that is painful. EVERYONE in the company should be required to listen to that for 10 minutes to start each day so they understand how we as customers can rise to the level of frustration when the call is finally answered by a human with an aweful head set... and an agent that just keeps repeating themselves rather than addressing ones request. TRULY
3 calls to SLC today before reachind a rep in Hawaii via TEXT that doesn't have access to "In Store" inventory so no help there and you can't TEXT SLC so I called Park City, they have access t0 SLC inventory and answered in less than 30 seconds... I will NEVER CALL SLC AGAIN and TEXT to Hawaii is very limited in thier abilty to assist.
My receipt said it was shipping by DHL. After two weeks and two chats, they figured out that it was being shipped by the USPS. They do not have their online operation working well.
I ordered an Osito-2 Northface jacket from them. When I received the product it was not the size I ordered. Icalled them and reported the issue. They said they will place another order and they promise that it will receive on my daughters"s birthday. Since I did not received the product on my daughter"s birthday, I called them again. They said they did a mistake an the product did not shipped it yet.So I asked them to issue a refund, they said they did but I did not received any confirmation email or nothing. So I called them back again the third person I talked to this time told me that she going to find out and put me on hold for ever. So I have to hung up. I called them back again deferent person answered, he reluctantly send me an email but I did not see the credit on my account yet. Now Iam really concerned that I read a review saying that they steel money from your account!
Sent me a used item and the wrong one. Tried to get it settle for some credit they offered me $20 for $550 item... they don't seems to care at all. I returned it. Not recommend at all!
Answer: I've had no problems with the authenticity, but if you have to return it for any reason, including sizing being wrong you will have to foot the return shipping cost. They don't make this clear when ordering.
Answer: Because they are not a reputable company at all. Stay away from them.
The company has garnered mixed feedback, with customers appreciating its wide selection of outdoor gear and competitive pricing. However, significant concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly related to order fulfillment, shipping delays, and a challenging return process. Many reviews highlight frustrations with receiving incorrect or used items and inadequate support when addressing these issues. Overall, while the product range and pricing appeal to shoppers, the recurring complaints about service quality and responsiveness suggest a need for improvement in customer relations to enhance overall satisfaction and trust.
