Was truly a blessing for me after countless attempts from other attorneys who should have amateur stamp next to their names, because they could not get done what attorney Russell Cate got done for me. I was told I could never gain my full rights back, other attorneys have told me. Russell Cate high level of intelligence of the law. By his name is stamp pro attorney Russell Cate. Very knowledgeable of the law which makes him Supreme, I use three lawyers in the past and all of them failed my request, about 10 or more simply told me to live with my conviction. To make a long story short attorney Russell Cate got my felony reduced to a misdemeanor then expunged. You want to win or at least deal with an attorney that will fight to the end of the road for you. I wish I could have met him 15 years ago. I'm very happy and always in debt to Mr Russell Cate truly a success story. Attorney Russell Cate *******016
You only get one free question. Sometimes you don't even get a response from lawyers and them when you try to contact the website, they take a long time to respond.
Some of the lawyers that reply are really rude based on posts that I've read. Do they not realize they can lose clientele that way? They don't seem to be very smart. Some of them when they reply tell you to seek legal counsel so as not to answer the question posted.
They really don't give good advice.
Do not sign onto Avvo. Once you sign on, no matter how many times you request they not contact you or remove any contact information they have on you, they will not. If you want to receive calls from a salesman for the rest of your life, by all means, do it. Most people are too busy to mess with such nonsense.
You can not make a critical complainant on a lawyer because they are all a gaggle of criminals that stick together with only one loyalty and that is to the Bar association. Daniel S. Gerow told me the Law written by criminal lawyers was to protect women and children. Daniel S. Gerow St Clair Shores, MI ******* said No equal protection under the law and no 14 amendment and the Constitution didn't mater.
Avvo had continually rejected 9 of my attempts to review a corrupt attorney that cheated me and my company out of 10s of thousands of dollars, was found guilty of 110 counts by the State of Illinois Sect'y of State Securities Department and was then indicted by a grand jury for criminal offences of wire fraud.
In my opinion, Avvo is a bogus operation and a gross dis-service to those seeking responsible insight into the qualities of a potential legal professional hire.
To place trust in Avvo is to do so at your own peril. Read through any number of the other reviews and you will note the pattern of irresponsible vetting.
OK... now on to RipoffReport and ScamBook for more of the same.

Not only is Avvo an ineffective form of advertising because of the sleazy Avvo trademark and the questionable rating practices; Avvo actually hates lawyers. So they'll take your money with one hand, and with the other hand fight with anyone who is critical of their marketing practices. Avvo will aggressively attack (and then publish the communications with) potential client-lawyers who don't appreciate their sleazy marketing practices. There are ethical advertisers for lawyers, but this isn't one of them.
In 2015, I received a letter stating I was having legal action taken against my nursing license. I went to Chicago and was blessed to meet Ms. Lillian Walanka. She took my case and determined that no offense had been done and cleared my nursing license. She later followed up when the state of Illinois made an error in record keeping and notified me of such. I just received an email stating my license is clear. The latter was even done pro bono. Ms. Walanka was there during a very difficult time in my life and supported me the whole way. She was not only my lawyer, but I consider her a friend. Blessings to her and her team for everything they have accomplished.
Once you get on there is jo way to get off avvo. They dont tell you this up front. They encourage people to increase their rating by having friends and colleagues do a search for you. Obviously this allows them to increase their ad revenues. STAY CLEAR,
Now it is nothing but attorneys who have too much time in their hands just hanging out and telling people how much trouble they are in and they shouldn't be talking about their personal business ect ect. Well hello what do you think avvo.com is? It is a website where people can get a legal advice from actual lawyers and you are telling people not to post legal problems/questions? At avvo you no longer get legal advice, it is a playground for pretentious idiots with law degrees.
I posted a review of a lawyer merely stating that he didn't answer my phone calls and no showed my hearing and warned that the attorney wasn't dependable. Avvo sent me an email saying that my review didn't meet their posting guidelines. Yelp is a much better and far more impartial compared to Avvo, which doesn't allow any critiques of attorneys.
I wrote a negative review about a lawyer that I hired. The review was very civil, non-tonal, and too the point. I provided my information to Avvo so that they could verify that I did indeed hire the attorney or gather any other information as to what is needed to post a negative review. Avvo never got back in touch with me nor did they post my review.
Avvo denies ALL real, validated, with evidence, reviews. It's only purpose is to promote.
Honest review platforms permits the good & the bad (especially when evidence is provided) so the consumer does not get scammed by the lying lawyers who shouldn't be lawyers!
Totally bogus site. I gave a negative review and it was declined (!) What good is a review site if its reviews are biased and controlled for marketing purposes, As a physician I am routinely reviewed on the internet. No one declines my negative reviews.
We submitted a negative review at Avvo for a Torrance, CA attorney Christina Wickers and Rodney Wickers. They were rejected
We believe their rating system is fixed, those 5 stars reviews are posted for attorneys with "endorsed" profiles, and block negative reviews. It's a club. They can't be trusted!
Avvo will take a lawyer's money for advertising but will not take down obviously fake anonymous reviews. Don't waste your money. There are more reputable legal advertising options available. Avvo will make you file a lawsuit in Washington state in order to obtain the identity of the fake anonymous reviewer causing you to incur ridiculous costs.
The worst website to put the lawyer review because they accept the reviews and then after 6 months they tell you that they have to take your reviews off and it has happened for more than 3 times!
Besides, they can only accept good reviews to lawyers now. The bad review can not posted on their website for some reason. It is very biased. I suggest to use google to find a true review instead of the Avvo.com. It has become a huge scam for customers who need a neutral website to find a lawyer.
I posted a very truthful negative review of an attorney on Avvo. It was posted, then removed after one day. I inquired as to why they removed it and they asked me to edit some of the comments. I did and re-posted. It was removed 3 more times. When I called Avvo, they said it was removed in error but would go back up. It did not. One rep for Avvo admitted they had complaints from the attorney.
I had a bad experience during an initial consultation with a lawyer. I wrote a truthful, factual review on Avvo, which got rejected. The same lawyer had other, glowing reviews which were clearly shills - and no negative comments at all.
Clearly Avvo isn't interested in honestly reviewing lawyers. I don't see the point of it and suggest it be avoided.
I found a lawyer on Avvo who turned out to be horrible so I fired her. To be fair the second lawyer I found on Avvo was fantastic. Ok, to the point: I wrote a review on the horrible lawyer that was approved on Avvo back in 2010 and it stood for five years. Then in 2015, my review disappeared along with every other negative review of that lawyer.
So I e-mailed Avvo asking why. They replied that I didn't follow the guidelines for reviews. I replied, so why did you approved it, post it for five years, and then taken down? I never got a satisfactory answer from Avvo on that question so I gave up.
My take away: It appears to me that lawyers can pick and choose what reviews they want posted on Avvo. Thus making the site completely worthless in my opinion.
I used Avvo a few years back, and got some helpful advice from attorneys. I recently posted a question 3 times, 3 different ways, and never got a response. I read a few recent reviews of this site now having a bad reputation with lawyers. I think this site is on a slide down and out. Too bad as Avvo was very helpful one time.
Answer: AVVO is managed by attorneys for attorneys. It is a recipe for deception, self-interest and greed.
Answer: I believe it's a scam. There is no correlation between how good an attny is and their avvo rating. Based upon my personal knowledge of several attorneys that i have become very familiar with since unwittingly believing avvo information i would warn people not to trust this site for an impartial assessment of attorneys.
Answer: What is being asserted about rejection of negative reviews is absolutely consistent with my experience. Don't waste your time.
Answer: You actually can't place bad review or rating for attorney anywhere, including Martindale Hubbell or similar websites. Even if bad review is approved and posted, it will be removed by attorney request in a few days.
Answer: Because AVVO is a scam service that inflates attorney ratings, but systematically blocks negative reviews. Avoid at all costs.
Answer: It's BAD! Don't trust AVVO! A lot of attys put 5 STAR reviews about themselves and will have the 1 star reviews removed. BEWARE of your atty if s/ he has a 6.5 or has a lot of 5 STAR reviews and still not a high score
Answer: I am an attorney and had contact with this company years ago when it posted my "profile" without my consent, apparently scraping it from some legitimate source like the state bar website. I was assigned a low rating (6.5/10) based on no reviews whatsoever and encouraged to join and get recommendations from other attorneys on the site to raise my rating. I'm a 20+-year practitioner with no complaints from clients or the bar. Quite simply, it's a scam along the lines of "America's Who's Who" where the people listed in the database are the source of income for the enterprise. If attorneys don't "join" and pay they're added to the database without their consent and assigned a random low rating pulled out of nowhere. I don't see any basis to rely on "Avvo" for attorney recommendations. Try Martindale-Hubbell or recommendations from the local bar association real-life attorneys.
Avvo has a rating of 1.2 stars from 421 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Avvo most frequently mention law firm, state bar and community guidelines. Avvo ranks 74th among Legal Documents sites.
