Amazon - surprised that you own this piece of (bleep...) company since everything else you touch turns to gold! I was given a 6-MONTH membership as a gift, and that translates into 7 "credits"? So it's not unlimited - it's basically one book a month that I can listen to? Seriously? And customer service is THE WORST. Don't do it ppl. There have got to be better options out there.
Stay away. I have spent two hours today on a chat with an audible representative. The first one cut me off half way through. The second one could not find my credits even though I gave the correct address attached to the account. I asked to speak to a manager but was refused. They absolutely refused to help me. Do not touch this company it is a scam. 24 credits (over £200) lost in total with no way of getting them back. Representatives very unhelpful such a shame as it is a great idea
I was extremely impressed with the refund process that I experienced with this company. I had enrolled in the 30 day free trial, but then noticed when money was being withdrawn from my account per month after about 5 months. I called them to resolve the issue and cancel the membership, and they assisted me without any hassle. I was fully refunded and my membership cancelled. If you read a lot of books or travel often, I recommend signing up with audible.
Don't be fooled by their promotion. Read the fine print. Once you sign up with these guys. They will charge you 14.99/month. Starting up was a little confusing, but the customer service were very helpful.
I like the service. Very convenient on my Android phone. Every month they give you a credit or two for books. Recently used two credit to purchase books. For some reason they did not show up in my library. Tried customer support. They went back through account and say credits were not there and not used. Funny how I spent 30 minutes choosing books, purchasing and deciding what to leave for later. From their side, it never happened. So either it was a rip off or the credits in my account were erroneous. Not happy. Makes my drive better, but this is crap. Customer support was no help. Need to find a good substitute.
If i could give it zero stars, I would. Terrible. Never been to audible in my life, and randomly they started a "free trial," which i was charged for. I have an amazon account but not an audible one. I went through the history on every device I own, and could not find any trace of me signing up for this bs. $30 poorer with no response/refund/explanation for customer service.
Like many others, Audible appears to have found the golden goose! If you purchase a book, they seem to automatically enroll you in their membership program and set up an automatic charge of $14.95 a month. This is the second time I've discovered that they've done this while reviewing my credit card statements. The good news is that Audible has removed the charges once I made the effort to call them to dispute it. Stay vigilant -- review your credit card statements.
Audible is like the Mafia, once you are in it you can never get out.
The recordings I tried were poor quality so I tried to cancel.
It was impossible to find how to unsubscribe online so I called customer service to cancel my subscription. Alas 2 months later I am still being charged!
I have written this review in the 46 minutes that I have spent so far on the phone trying to get a refund!
Confusing to actually navigate and use through their site- plus you lose your purchase if not used right away. I finally sat down to try once again to activate one of the books I purchased and it's gone - expired. I won't waste money or time here again for sure!
I am a long time user of audible. The first few updates were great but now the app won't let me access a huge section of my library because the sign in has changed from username to email. Very disappointing.
Audible customer service has become so bad I had to cancel my membership. My last 8 audio purchases were not downloading and after hours in chat, email and phone I just gave up. They can't or won't fix the problem, don't respond to emails and don't seem to care that high user customers cancel their longterm membership. Thanks to all the reviewers for the heads up - I'll be cancelling my credit card and my Amazon account and never using either company again.
Found a surprise charge on our credit card statement (the card has never been used). Online search discovered the charge originated with Audible.com. Contacted customer service and all they wanted was names, e-mails and billing addresses. For what? To sell? They claimed they needed the e-mail associated with the account. There is no associated e-mail because an account was never created. Two separate representatives were contacted. Same answer from both = waste of time. TOTAL SCAM to get your amazon account information.
After signing upto a free trial to test. I listened to one thing once and left it at that. Then a couple months later, I'm helping do the accounts for my employers and to my shock Amazon have been charging my boss £7.99 each month without any permission.
I use Spotify on the daily and would recommend staying clear of amazon; s services.
Had an account, quality of books downloaded were fine, but customer service just simply horrible. Was on automated billing, receiving 2 credits a month. But there is a cap at 12, so once I racked up 12 credits, was still charged each month, however did not receive any new credits, so, basically them just taking my money for nothing in return. Once was ready to cancel account, they informed me that all my credits would disappear at the moment of cancellation, but I COULD pay an annual fee to retain said credits. So messed up.
Hi Jon,
We are sorry to hear about your experience! We would like to see if we are able to reinstate any of those credits that rolled over for you. Please feel free to email us at social-support@audible.com for assistance with this.
These punk mother%$#ers charged my debit and took my hard earned money I ended up breaking a cup and some other stuff in my room because of it. I didn't use the free account and they kept attempting to charge my debit card after the free period was over. I hated that more than anything. Now I have to wait 3 days just to get my refund. This place suck. Makes me wanna delete my amazon account real talk.
We have been trying to cancel this "free trial" unsuccessfully for over 3 months. What a joke.
Customer services promises to end it & then they try to bill our Discover account again & again... DO NOT do this free service unless you have dozens of hours to fight their unfair billing practices despite your timely cancellation... If you look at the other reviews, you will see all of the other people who have had the same experience that we had!
Don't waste your time typing a review if you do not like a book, as Audible states the review immediately becomes their property - meaning if the review is poor it will be deleted. I've read 5 books so far and was critical of two - both reviews were deleted.
This service says that you can have one free month with an Amazon prime account. Beware! They advertise the book will be free then they charge a lot for the book without any warning. Their customer service will not assist at all. They will refund the charge in 7 to 10 days from the day you call them but they treat you as if you are to blame. I've never been treated so rudely before and I'm looking at other services for audiobooks.
I have been a platinum member of audible for almost 18 years. I have spent over $1,000. On their site and they haven't me crap because I returned more than 3 books in a year! I am sick of the corporate greed with these people and will not ever purchase another credit from them again. I am done and I hope this helpful to others!
I've called multiple times to cancel, they state must go to Google Play & it's not located in my subscriptions. The sure do locate my credit card every f-ing month stuck in f-ing twilight zone of never ending membership...
