Apple designs some good products, which they get manufactured in Asia. As good as the design may be, the manufacturing quality is about the same as you can expect of anything you get at Walmart.

But Apple is very careful to price-fix its products. Anyone offering them for less will soon find that Apple won't supply them with any more to sell. That has always been Apple's marketing strategy, and the reason IBM PC's with Windows became the international standard rather than MacIntosh.

*IF* you buy anything from Apple, you have to pay the Apple retail price for it as well as any of the "extras". If you want some new software, you must pay Apple. If you want an accessory, you must pay Apple. It limits selection and makes everything higher priced. Many people assume that anything high priced must be high quality, and ignore the "Made in China" labels. And it makes Apple rich.

Apple is also very careful to guard what it considers its "proprietary" intellectual property. Like a rectangular shape for a cell phone. They sued Samsung for a billion dollars over that one. But Apple isn't against violating other companies' patent rights, even when their own engineers and federal courts tell them so. With $50 billion in the bank, they just roll out their lawyers to avoid paying those smaller companies for what is rightfully theirs. Apple is a bully. Its time for the federal government to intervene, just as they did for Microsoft a few years back.

There are people who just HAVE to have the latest trendy product, and don't care if they have to pay an inflated price. So what if it bends in the middle? Its a "fashion statement".

Sooo... I'll stick to Windows and/or Android, thankyouverymuch, with many times more products, better compatibility, and lower prices.

Apple have just run me through the wringer for three straight days an all-round miserable customer experience. Over the last 10 years, my wife and I have equipped ourselves with a range of Apple devices, having been attracted by their ease of integration, and the simplicity of transitioning from one device to another when replacing them. But this recent experience has made me reconsider this. I just replaced a 6 year old iMac (a desktop Mac) with another, new iMac. What was supposed to be a very straightforward migration of data, applications and settings from one machine to another turned into a nightmare. After a full day of failed migration processes followed by successive calls with Apple support staff (many of who were quick to lay all blame at my feet and couple of whom added to the aggravation by dropping their calls), finally a senior level (tier 2) Apple advisor determined after consulting with several of his colleagues that the issue stemmed from a botched warranty repair on the original iMac (replacement of the screen when it failed a few months after purchase). It turns out that the Apple repair crew had used an unorthodox work around when they put in the replacement screen. After finally identifying the problem, it was also confirmed that this work around was a done-deal' and we could not set up the new iMac with the normal migration process drawing on the data, applications and settings either from the old iMac itself or from the backups on our Apple AirPort Time Capsule. We then set about taking the data and applications a file at a time from the most recent Time Capsule back up a laborious process and somewhat nerve-wracking as one is having constantly to double check you got everything and one is never quite sure. And there were numerous glitches and retracing of steps required. And for three days I had to put the rest of my agenda on hold with successive calls, screen share sessions and waits for call backs from Apple staff. There were a couple of the Apple tech support people who were particularly helpful and were also quick to recognize Apple's part in creating these issues. But I wish I could say this of all the many Apple staff I spent time with over these three days.

I am reporting a deceptive business practice by Apple resulting in known fraud and identity theft of which they are aware.
In March I purchased a new IPAD at the Apple store. They offered a program to trade in your old IPAD for a $50 credit towards a new one, I stupidly handed over my IPAD, which the employee put in a box in front of my fiancé and me.
Several weeks later there were 4 different sign ins to 4 different accounts from an unknown MAC device in PA. Each one of those accounts had a completely different password associated with it. No one could guess 4 different passwords for 4 applications. Clearly someone had my list of passwords, all that I kept on my IPAD, and I was officially hacked. I was so upset.
When I contacted 2 different Apple numbers for support and customer care, their overall response was to ask me what I wanted them to do about it, that nothing could be done, that they can't be responsible for every employee's action. When I contacted the actual Apple Store in South Hills Village, I was told employees are supposed to erase my iPad In front of me, and they can only try to train the employees better. There was nothing else they were willing to do. Not fire the employee who did this even though identity theft is a crime! The woman was very rude and flippant and suggested I start changing my passwords!
I had no idea the employee was supposed to erase the IPad in front of me. There are no signs or info telling customers to make sure the employee erases the IPAD in front of you. And their response after the fact is "oh well, too bad, we'll try to train better",meaning it will happen to someone else. Who will be next! Internet research shows it's happened to others and Apple gives no relief. I was so stupid to hand over my IPAD with all of my passcodes for myself and my elderly mother. I've since changed all 54 passwords, but my info is already out there, probably sold to the black web for a price, my identity and my mother's compromised.

IPhone 13 Notes data lost
October 18, 2022

I am sharing some of my bad experience in using iPhone Notes. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max with 1T storage since September 2001. I have been using iPhone Notes quite a while to store all my important notes such as passwords and important messages. It has been accumulated hundreds of notes over the year. It was pretty handy until a couple of days ago it suddenly disappeared! All of them! I did not do anything such as deleting or grouping etc. I was crazy about this lost as I can't do my normal work without those Notes records. I looked up from internet to try to get some tips to retrieve them back. I've tried all the methods suggested without success. I realised that my notes were not stored in either of my iCloud or my outlook account because both of these accounts were full and could not take sync from my iPhone. So I think all my notes were stored locally in my iPhone. I went to a few mobile phone shops and was told there is no way to recover those lost data. I called Apple technical support and was given 3 other data recovery companies. I tried again without any success. By looking up from Internet for more information, I can see quite a few people had these problems before. But very strange that they did not talk too much after raising this issue. I summarise all my findings here:
1. IPhone iOS has a bug in its Notes which can automatic remove locally stored data even you have upgrade to iOS16. Or maybe hardware storage is not stable (that may be dangerous to other data storage!)
2. IPhone Notes locally stored data lost cannot be recovered by any methods.
3. Apple cannot help at all and they don't acknowledge this bug and they don't want to take any responsibility to the data lost
4. Please use iCould or your email accounts to store your Notes rather than local stored. Also make sure those accounts have space to sync your iPhone notes.

I have and iMac, and iPad and hopefully an iPhone soon ;) (taking me a while to save! Lol)
Yes they are more expensive initially BUT tbh my iMac is 7 years old... Never had an issue, free updates, no more tinkering with incompatible drivers, windows updates OR a slowing system with random crashes! My machine is nearly as fast now as it was when new, I have been unable to say that about any windows machine I've owned... And there's been Alot:-/
I even brought my daughter an iPad mini (my son already has one) after returning 7 Samsung tabs due to charging faults, battery issues etc. (that's not even an exaggeration it's a true fact :-0) anyway had issues with FaceTime for some reason, contacted apple care peeps and Wow they were straight on it (even rang me back so I wasn't charged for the call) it couldn't be solved that day so was passed onto their geeky peeps to deal with it, received daily calls or emails updating me that they were working on it and it was a priority due to a glitch (not sure of the techno lingo) and viola 3 days later all working well in the land of FaceTime, even had a follow up call to check that all was working well and were there any other issues they could help with! 5 stars from me apple

Not as cheap as the competition, but the right choice if you don't know how to handle tech and don't want to mess up your device. :)
