Oh oh oh. So. They rescheduled and had the cheek to take extra payment from my son as there are stairs and no parking even though this wasn't asked on the initial booking.
They said they would turn up between 8 and 10 in the morning. They then cancelled this and changed it to 2- 4 the same same day At 3.50 they sent a text saying they were not coming!
I'd booked time off work, driven upmfrom Devon, got stuck and traffic as I was bringing my son home for a few weeks until. Hoe new flat was ready. I had to book another day off work, frantically ring the estate agents to beg am extra night and get another van. To add insult to injury they are refusing to reimburse the full amount, apparently it's my son's fault he failed to mention the parking situation and the stairs despite he wasn't asked when he booked. The guy I spoke to, Thad, Chad was lovely and helpful and may have been on the receiving end as I was quite cross. He did try his best to help but was restricted by management. So. Any Van have £160 of my sons money for not turning up. I'm out of pocket 2 days wages, a full tank of petrol, overnight parking fees and paying for another van. Oh. We have no furniture, kettle anything as it's all packed.

When my son booked all he was required to. Do. Was enter his postcode of his flat and the address where to deliver. He wasn't asked anything further.
He was then allotted a date which was cancelled. My son then contacted you paid put more money and was given a new date, 28th April between 8-10. This was then changed your end to 2-4. He then received a text at 3.50. Informing him the driver wasn't coming. You cancelled therefore you are in the wrong You waited until the very last minute. Utter appalling

DREADFUL! I had to use AnyVan as my removal co. Cancelled 36 hours before house completion... AnyVan were available-that's the positive. Long story short: arrived with someone else's enormous sofa, so my stuff didn't fit in! I'd paid £1400+ (Double what my original company wanted) and then at 2.15pmish (hours after the sale had gone through and I was technically in breach of contract) I had to book another van from another company, costing me a further £750! The sofa was then delivered before my stuff and the lorry eventually arrived at my new home at 9.16pm! The additional drivers that I had paid extra for then helped AnyVan operators unload and all lorries left at 1am!
Yes, throughout the day I kept AnyVan aware and they did NOTHING. Theo told me that the lorry was not allowed to carry other people's stuff and spoke to the driver-fat lot of good that did. He then said he'd see if he could get another vehicle to help and he'd get back to me in a couple of hours. Maybe. It's a removal company and everyone knows that moving house is stressful so why add to that stress AnyVan, by being incompetent in the moment? What choice did you leave me with when I was already in breach of contract and could have been sued by the new owner of my ex property!
As I moved just before Christmas I wrote a complaint to AnyVan at the start of the new year-I just couldn't face it ruining my christmas. Outlined some damage that had occurred (I've found more since) but AnyVan took great delight in stating that they weren't responsible as it was outside the one week reporting period. After that, AnyVan did nothing for three weeks despite my reminding them-interesting considering when I made my booking I was plagued by calls, emails and texts and couldn't get rid of them! Then I was offered a paltry sum. Honestly, I was being patient but the figure was so insulting for what they put me through that now I'll review them anywhere I can!
If you want to move one item, fine. For removals, forget it. They are SO expensive compared to other companies and their slogan could not be less true.

Cancelled on afternoon of move
January 30, 2023

Horrible experience. Do not rely on this company.

Cancelled our move the afternoon of our moving day. Showed no remorse and offered no alternate solutions.

Our move was booked months in advance but when the driver was late, I contacted him with photos of our things, to which he replied he would actually be hours later than the scheduled time. He asked would we prefer to have an alternate driver come in his place so that they could arrive on time, to which we replied that we would. Navaratnam told us that he would arrange this with Anyvan and we would hear from them shortly. We heard nothing.

After waiting on hold for an extended period of time, we were told our driver had taken himself off the job and there would be no drivers coming in his place, but that this was ok because they could send a driver the following week. We were moving from Wales to England with international flights arranged the following day. It was not ok.

Abdul, the customer service representative, proposed no solutions, until I insisted that he call the original mover and reassign him the job. Twice, Abdul said that he had been in contact with the driver who clarified that his pick-up time would now be later than the previous estimate. I told Abdul that we would manage the lateness of the pick-up, we just needed the items moved the day we had agreed upon. Despite Navaratnam having confirmed that he was available to do the move, Abdul did not arrange this to take place, breaching their contract, causing us significant stress and forcing us to bear excessive additional costs in finding an emergency moving company to come immediately.

The only apology that we received was at the end of our last phone call, where we were told 'We are sorry that we have not been able to provide what you had expected from us'.

Having contacted the complaints department, asking only for compensation in the difference of payment we had to make to the emergency company, we were quoted their contract saying that if their drivers are unable to perform their service they would contact us. (Which they did not do). It was also abundantly clear that the driver was able to do the delivery, he simply chose not to.

Other experiences included:
- Being cut-off mid sentence by being put on hold when Abdul disagreed with what I was saying
- Not having our pick-up time confirmed until late in the evening the night before. Despite several phone calls promising this confirmation at an earlier time.
- Needing to call and wait on the customer service line repeatedly when people promised to call back within a defined amount of time and did not.

NEVER, EVER AGAIN!
September 28, 2017

I wish I'd seen some of these reviews prior to booking! I thought by using this company I was doing things properly for my move as they weren't cheap.
Initially they hadn't recorded the booking yet the website said 'congratulations you're booked in' so on the morning of the move I chased this up. They promised faithfully that a van would be with me that afternoon but got no apology. By 4pm (they said they work until 10pm)my buyers were waiting to move in and I was now sat in their house with my belongings and no van. When I spoke to AnyVan they'd done nothing then told me no one was available until the day after so now, embarrassingly I was holding up the whole chain from moving. I was expecting a Luton sized van or larger for my itemised belongings and stressed this on both occasions so when a Mercedes Sprinter turned up to move the contents of a 4 bed house I knew it wasn't going to fit but was assured by the drivers after inspecting everything that it would. By lunchtime they had filled their van and I still had half my belongings in the house - I spoke to AnyVan again who told me that without paying a further £500 I couldn't have another van & they didn't think they had one until 2 days later anyway!
Thank god for good friends who hired a large enough) van on my behalf, drove 200 miles to get me, packed my stuff & delivered me to my destination, as it was midnight we just wanted to empty the van & go to bed but the carnage that greeted me at the new property was unbelievable! I couldn't even get through the door! They'd literally thrown my stuff in. It cost me another £300 to get my abandoned stuff to the new house and a couple of very tired friends. Never, ever again!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! AVOID IF POSSIBLE! The movers asked me to remove a protective layer of wrapping around a credenza to see if it would make it lighter (it didn't). They then turned it upside down and used a dowel post to rotate it, causing irreparable damage to the veneer in multiple places. They then rammed the credenza into my heating unit, deeply denting the metal housing.

The movers at no time notified me about the damage that was caused. The credenza was the last item to be unloaded, and it was trollied in and unloaded at an angle that concealed the damage to the top. After it was unloaded I watched at a distance while the movers were looking at the top of it, but thought nothing of it until I saw the damage after they had left. It is now clear that they saw the damage and tried to hide it.

I also chose the size of the storage unit based on the size of the large pieces of furniture to be moved. I have a 35 square foot unit, but without the credenza I would only need a 30 foot unit. As a result, I'm now paying to store a piece of furniture that has lost all value as I do not have the time/resources to change to an alternate unit at such short notice. I will also need to pay someone to dispose of it on my return to the UK, as it's resale value is effectively nothing at this time as the cost of repairing the veneer and legs is in excess of its value.

This negligence is going to cost me well over 1000 pounds to rectify. When I contacted Anyvan about the damage, they informed me that they will only cover up to 100 pounds for the damage to the credenza (I paid 1200 for it). When I asked about the heating unit damage, they offered me a 20 percent discount because I might be lying and that the damage could have been pre-existing. This despite multiple witnesses that the units were undamaged prior to the mover's arrival, and a dent that watches the damage on my credenza.

I am rejecting their offer and exploring other legal avenues. If you value your sanity and your possessions, please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Following my booking with AnyVan, I wanted to say that the people that came to my house were very friendly and helpful and did what they could. However, I am very disappointed that it was not possible to get my treadmill downstairs, and yet I had to pay full price. It needed to be dismantled to get it down the stairs (there is a narrow doorway) and around the corner to the basement - I was unsure if this was the case but for £86, I thought this would be included in the price (£86 is expensive to move 1 item). I want to make it clear that there was a miscommunication in what needed doing, as I thought the removal service would be equipped to do this. But even if not included in the price, I can understand that I would still have to pay a call-out fee, but I don't think paying full price is acceptable.
I want to stress that the people that came were as helpful as they could be but that I was then put in a position where I was told by someone on the phone that I would either have to risk my treadmill being damaged on the way down, as it couldn't be dismantled, or cancel without a refund. There was no option to rearrange the visit with a team that could help dismantle it and get it downstairs (which is what I thought I had arranged and pay for in the first place). I don't think this is acceptable and would like a refund for some of the money. I used the LiveChat service to explain this and the person I spoke to was polite but confirmed that I would not be able to receive a part refund. I am very disappointed with the AnyVan service, which is a shame as the people that came were very friendly.
I will be seeking legal advice and would advise anyone using AnyVan to be overly clear as I think miscommunication can be easily done with this company.

DO NOT USE!
May 13, 2022

If everything went well with your dealings with AnyVan good for you.
The fact is that AnyVan are a sales organisation. Full stop. By this I mean they have very few staff. The collection and delivery men are sub contract. As far as I can see the storage they use is also sub contract too.
We dealt with a really helpful Sales guy called Barney. He sold the AnyVan to us. The utmost care would be taken with our possessions and we should not worry at the fact that our items would have to go into Storage for a while - as the containers were all clean, sealed and kept at a constant temperature. The furnishings would be wrapped in protection so nothing could go wrong.
The Collection Men duly arrived at the set time / date. This is where the "journey" started. They guys although very polite told us they were "sub contract"... meaning they weren't employed by AnyVan. Honestly, they were useless. Clueless. We were horrified as they dragged out the Washing Machine leaving a trail of water behind them... then dragging our lovely white mattress through it. Where was the cover for the mattress that you promised Barney? In fact where were the covers for anything? The settee... They huffed and puffed and tried this way and that to "force" it through the doorway... eventually I showed them how to turn it so it easily went through. And so it went on with all our items...
I rang Barney to alert him as to my concerns..."oh he's not available"... I emailed him... no reply. Christmas and New Year came and went... still nothing. So I called Customer Services. Well I may as well have spoken to the wall. The lady frankly was useless. She had a "what do you want me to do about it attitude?"
So, the day of the delivery from the items having been in storage for some 4 months. Our fears were realised. Even the Delivery guy was apologetic. Now bear in mind ALL our furnishing were previously in A1 condition. The £800 mirror had bashed in corners, the £225 picture chipped and the canvass cut, the Dining Table and chairs filthy and chipped, the settee filthy, the bed, soaked with dirty water etc etc. I have photos of all this BTW and how the items were jammed into the delivery lorry with no protection.
Fortunately I had their "upgraded" Insurance Policy... Ha! What a joke. As derisory £250 for damage to £3,000 worth of goods.
I made AnyVan aware of all this. Have I received an apology... you must be joking...

Hopeless cowboys
October 4, 2019

To call these people cowboys would be an insult to real cowboys turned up in a tatty Luton van with the front bumper hanging off playing ultra loud music smoking, fag butts left on the drive I had to tell them to turn the music off as it would upset other residents. Not a good first impression one pretended not to speak English at first. Right from the off it was clear they didn't want to be there. They proceeded to load some items then got stuck with the sofa at the front door. This is when I realised that instead of paying £500 for professional removal men I had been lumbered with two witless morons. This is when I informed them I was calling any van to complain. The first person I spoke with at any van was no use at all promised to speak to the company and sort it out and call me back. That never happened. What did happen was that these guys boss called me I told him what I thought of his employees and their unprofessional attitude, he said he'd speak to them kept calling me mate and had absolutely zero customer service skills. By this time I am in full panic mode so I call any van back and talk to Tony on customer service, Tony is an absolute star he offered solutions over the phone so I could remove the front door to get the sofa out, solutions which I would have expected the so called professional men they had sent to offer. Tony saved the day but that didn't make up for the lack of professional standards or attitude from the two removal men. The van they bought had just a dirty worn floor to which the soft furnishings were unceremoniously up ended on and to add insult to injury was not large enough to get all our belongings in and some had to be left behind, it's a good job we weren't moving far away and this despite being charged almost £500 for this service. Off load was slightly better as I sensed they saw the end of the tunnel. However after they had scarpered I noticed damage to a chest of drawers and a king size mattress all in all a terrible experience. I selected any van because of the trust pilot reviews however if any van want to maintain their brand status they need to check their contractors standards and practices as this particular company fall well short of any professional standards and any form of customer service. Please please do not subject any more of your customers to this terrible company

DO NOT USE ANY VAN
March 30, 2018

I'm just going to leave my complaint here so you can see how wonderful Any Van are.

Hi,

I had a booking which was suppose to pick up stuff from my flat today and drop it off at St Albans either today or tomorrow.

Now several things have been unacceptable about the service and the communication:

1) Despite my phone number being listed correctly on point of purchase, we received no communication from the driver - we had to call him.
2) We rang the driver at 9 today (30/03) to ask where he would be to which he replied that he was in London (!) and would be with us at 5. I'm not sure who sorts these tasks but as soon as he told us he was in London I knew something was wrong. Trying to get from London to Manchester in good time on Good Friday is ridiculous.
3) At 5:30 we had to ring the driver (again, he made no effort to communicate with us!) and asked where he was. It turned out he was still in Birmingham and won't be with us until 10 tonight. He then threatened to cancel the job which has put us in a very difficult situation, almost like we can't complain or said a bad word to him in case he does just decide to not turn up (again, completely and utterly unprofessional behaviour).
4) He has also said it is impossible for him to drop our stuff off tomorrow, it will have to be dropped off on Easter Sunday. We deliberately paid to have our stuff dropped of today or tomorrow. Not on Easter Sunday!

This is completely unacceptable service. As Any Van has failed to deliver on either of the delivery dates, and we've had no communication from the driver by himself (it's always been us chasing him), I expect a full refund for this service.

What's more- the driver now demands he will have to deliver on Easter Sunday which means all plans we made with our family have had to be cancelled.

I am incredibly let down by this service. Because of the way it has worked out I will have to spend tonight sleeping in our living room with my coat and scarf as a blanket. And my partner (in St Albans) will only have a sleeping bag. I will not be using this service again and will warn all friends and family not to either as communication has been so poor and drivers are clearly given more tasks than is possible for them to do. Perhaps you need to think less about trying to squeeze out as many jobs from drivers, and therefore money from people, and more about a quality service.

I have recently used AnyVan to source a removal company. ALL of their suppliers seems to be excellent. Mmm. My cheapest quote was £267, but I used one at £338 as quality was important. The reviews were very good. It turns out that they had NO idea of how to do their job. My requirement was to fill my 175sq ft unit and I would do the rest. The day before they text me to say that they would be late as stuck in traffic, this is the 2nd time they got the day wrong. Again texting me on the day to say that they were stuck in traffic. They turned up in a 70 sq ft Luton van proclaiming it would only take one trip! On returning from the storage unit they said that it closed at 4pm and could not complete that day and that they would have to charge extra to come back the next day. I contacted the storage facility to pay for access to 10pm. They informed me that they were very slow and were not maximising space at all. After the 2nd trip, they informed me that there was no room for the dining table. I insisted that it would fit in and they relented. The day after we re-organised the unit and got in 4 chairs, a cross trainer, 3 tables, a steel kitchen unit, a 5ft hi-fi stack and 2 4ft speakers, 2 large pictures, 8 boxes and 6 bin bags.
When I wrote a bad review, AnyVan stopped access to the review and put "Feedback being reviewed by AnyVan Team".
This at first seems reasonable.
However, the same supplier has a review that states "Feedback being reviewed by AnyVan Team". From 10 to 12 months ago. Another one, same supplier 1 year and 5 months ago.
Another 1 year and 9 months ago.
So are AnyVan actually reviewing these bad reviews?
There is no point in having reviews if you can not put them on their website. I accept that sometimes they need to be reviewed. But almost 2 years to review!

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE
July 7, 2023

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE. The worst experience of any service, ever. They took our money, we're so chaotic they didn't order a van and have kept our £243. Now we are taking them to court to get out money back. What happened is that we wanted a van to pick up a sofa in the Lake District and take it to the East Midlands. Simply enough eh?One pick up and one drop off! Anyvan said they could do it for £243, but insisted on payment upfront. Anyvan even choose the date and time. We drove to the lake district to make sure the sofa was not left in the street. We got there early, we waited, and waited, but no van! Rang Anyvan, they then told us they had forgotten to order a van, and there was no van coming to pick up our sofa. Nothing we can do, we were told! Terrible, terrible service. Talk about hung out to dry and sod your luck mate, and to top it off, they have kept our money! So we were left in the street with a sofa and my wife in floods of tears. What were we to do with a sofa in the street 200 miles from where Anyvan promised they would deliver it? I ended up driving to Manchester to hire a van (thank you Arnold Clark, you are a life saver) driving back to the lake district, struggling with the sofa on my own, driving to East Midlands, delivering it at Midnight, then driving back home for 2am. 600 miles and a 20hr day! Thanks to the chaos caused by Anyvan. The worst service ever was not over though! I have written to all 3 directors to get my money back, they didn't ever bother to reply, so, they have my £243, it cost me £180 van hire=£423 out of pocket, and a wife back in depression. What do I have to do get my money back from these people. DO NOT USE ANYVAN AT ANY PRICE, THEY ARE TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE.

WORST SERVICE
November 2, 2017

The worst service. Moving home is a stressful situations and they made it more stressful. The agreed time for picking up was 10am and the driver turned up at 8am bearing in mind they charge if you delay the time. Upon arrival the driver complained throughout moving the items and asked me husband to do some work. The worst things is he took a picture of our cooker without our permission. Why?.
Once the items were uploaded to the van he requested extra £38 for the work and we told him we already paid the company £48. Once we got to the new flat the driver refused to offload until we pay the money and they we contacted any van which didnt help becuase they said the driver is self employed. We agreed to pay £20 extra and whilst i was making the payment via any van the driver was off loading. He asked whether we paid and as soon As he got a confirmation he DROVE OFF. He didnt take the stuff inside the building, let left and DROVE off. Ive complained to anyvan who said they will verify what happened. That was 2 wks ago and today they said that i wont even get £20 back. They were rude and they lie to get the money and leave you hanging.

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM ANY VAN IF YOU WANT A DECENT SERVIC

Unrealiable and misleading promises. Look for an alternative!

I booked a transit from Milton Keynes to near Bournemouth, for same day' delivery. It's a simple route along which I assumed the driver would add a few pick ups and would be easily achievable.

NOT SO!

The driver collected my goods at 9:00am. That morning he did not accept any of my calls and the tracking system online was not working.

At 13:00. I received a text from the driver claiming up to 6 hr delays on the M5. Could he drop the item three days later! The M5! What kind of a route is that on the opposite side of the county! Even without delays, that was almost unachievable. I checked the live traffic reports online. No reports corroborated heavy delays. I sent a text back and explained I'd paid for a one day delivery, I'd lost a day's pay by taking time off work, and was not available the following week. Please deliver.

At 15:00 I got a 2nd text from the driver, " I'm stuck in traffic near Exeter". EXETER! Now this really was getting ridiculous! The driver said he wouldn't be able to deliver today.

I then made several calls to Anyvan customer service. They confirmed my item was too far away to be delivered. I was NOT entitled to any compensation because the initial booked route was over 100 miles away' (read the small print) even though by routing via Exeter, Anyvan had added an extra 160 miles. I ask, who's fault is that?

With no option, I forced to wait for an early morning drop-off, the next day. I informed Anyvan I had had an appointment that morning and so was promised the delivery would take place before 8:30 - 9:00 am. Not sure if the driver or Anyvan made this promise.

The next day, 9:00 came and... Nothing! At 9:30. I sent a text to the driver. NO RESPONSE. Tracking was again not available... or not turned on.

9:35. I called Anyvan who couldn't, contact the driver either. I later recieved a text from Anyvan saying the driver would be with me by 10:50.

The driver Funalky arrived at 11:05.

It turns out that the driver is not responsible for setting a route. It is Anyvan.

The claims made by Anyvan and the reliability of the service are just not fit for purpose.

DO NOT HIRE THIS SERVICE. We went through reviews beforehand and decided to ignore the occasional bad reviews, and go with this 'cheaper' option. Bad idea.

Absolutely disgusted with my service. I was informed at time of booking (when I hadn't finished packing) that any little bits and pieces that needed adding could be done so for an extra fee on the day. The drivers were so rude and left with half a van empty, when all we had left to take was a few pictures, a wine rack, and an ironing board. Our car was packed full so we couldn't take them. We even offered to pay more, but they said no and left. This meant we had to leave these items and return for them at a later date, 140 miles away. On arriving at the new house, the drivers placed all our items downstairs, including our superking mattress, which we then had to try and get up the stairs despite my partner having a broken hand. Their attitude was so disgusting whenever I asked them to place something in a certain room, that I felt uncomfortable being in their presence and ended up going to stand outside until they left.

When I complained to the company about our experience, the customer service representative fought me tooth and nail on each issue, spoke very condescendingly toward me, and completely contradicted what the initial person on the phone said to me when I booked. Considering I booked over the phone, I expected the information they gave me there to be correct, but apparently it wasn't and they were just trying to make me happy so they could take my money. As for the extra items, apparently the drivers will not take anything that's not on the list, although when I tried to amend my order online prior to the move, it would not allow me to do so. The company also told me we had booked for a 'ground floor' move, so the drivers weren't obligated to take anything upstairs, however the representative on the phone at booking simply asked what kind of property we were moving into (a house), and didn't specify that we had to state some items would need to be taken upstairs.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY. We paid £500 for this move, and would much rather have paid a couple of extra hundred for a good, local company who would do their job properly. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
