Clickbait. The people behind this site should be hunted by the masses armed with torches and pitchforks. They are obviously just laughing at any of us who are fool enough to follow any of their links. Laughing as they count their advertisers' money. I want to punch them in the throat.
We live in a world where the internet is full of interesting, engaging content, presented in a well-designed way. You wont find that part of the internet on Answers.com.
Their current ad campaign on Facebook is obtrusive and unceasing. Every day, I see another ad from one of Answer's many, many Facebook Pages. Instead of putting all their budget on adverts, I suggest they invest a portion into building content.
One of the most annoying sites on the net. What makes it particularly galling is that they actually have interesting topics... but when you try to navigate their site, it drives you nuts with ad reloads, hidden ad triggers, etc. Yahoo should dump them off of their page.
And yeah... I too noticed the phoney "oh... it's great!" reviews at the bottom. Nice try!
Recently clicked on a link to answers. Top 10 type thing. 4 clicks through and I'm still on the first one, split mid sentence every time then when you click to the next page it jumps about on the screen and ads are thrown in your face some more. It really is pathetic excuse for a site. If it was 1 whole section per page then maybe I wouldn't mind so much but you have to jump through so many links to read a whole article if you can even call it that. I wish people would stop sharing links to this horrible little site
If you thought it was slow... now is slower, with triple the autoplay ads and the annoying voice of the starbucks ad... There are interesting topics sometimes and I try to have the infinite patience that this site required, but never pass from the second page.
Like anyone that actually clicked on a link to their site I experienced mindboggling load times for all the ads they stuff into each page. Those ads slow things down to such an extent that I'm planning to go to some of their advertisers and get them to investigate how their money is being spent. I don't think I've ever been able to wait for a whole page to load since they get several active media ads going at one time. Two videos running at the same time just drown each other out. Beyond stupid.
Stay away! The slick content and hot topics lure you in and then you are snared by endless streams of advertising junk! Your system gets locked up. ENOUGH! Fight the abuse. Fight the Bait & Switch assault on your time! RUN AWAY from Answers.com!
Worst site ever. Any time I see it I avoid it like a disease. It loads incredibly slow. The "answers" are spread out across dozens of pages, even when there are only a half dozen "answers." Each page is riddled with ads. The onformation you want takes several minutes to obtain when most of their content could be absorbed in less than two minutes of it were on a single page or even a couple of pages. I'd love to see a hacker destroy their site. Also their designers can die in a fire. One star... only because zero isn't an option.
This site is so dumb, they are excited that my last review is so popular even though it completely trashed them. They constantly send me emails telling me how many people found my comment helpful. Good grief.
Slide shows are not my favorite but I will go through them if it is a worthy story. What I will not tolerate is the need to click 3 times just to see an answer to a question all for ad impressions. Uugh. No site is more frustrating than this site so why do people keep sharing the stories on Twitter and facebook? Stop! If no one shares, they will go away!
-100 stars. This could have been a GREAT site. Very interesting "hooks" to get you to click on the links. Some of them I would really like to read and see, HOWEVER, whoever programed the site should be fired. Between the incessant ads and the time it takes to load each page it is one of the most frustrating sites on the internet. What I don't get, is with all these negative reviews, why hasn't it been improved. If I was an advertiser, I would have pulled out already. The idea to get you to a page it great, but with all this frustration, people just wont go there anymore. Every time I see an interesting title, if it is from Answers.com, I feel sorry because I would have clicked but then I avoid it as I know the site will make me crazy. The real question and answer should be, Why haven't they fixed it yet?
I am so frustrated with this website... everytime! It just screws with my computer and I can't stand clicking and waiting and the freezing up. You have some interesting topics but I can never make it past 2 clicks! It is a mess!
Torture, the best way to describe navigating this website. They seem to have interesting topics, but getting to the information requires far more patience and effort than should be required. I am certain the web developers of this website have never attempting accessing the website as a typical user would, otherwise they would fix this monstrosity.
The site is practically unusable. It has so many ads, cross-scripting and probably viruses that it takes forever for the page to load. When you try to ask a question, it takes up to 5 minutes to type it because the site is so busy with ads and who knows what else that only half of the characters that are typed actually make it onto the screen. Very frustrating. So frustrating that I wont use the site or click on any link that leads to the site. A waste of web space.
As others have said, there is sometime interesting content, however, the site is very unstable and a mess to navigate. I"m not a computer genius but one would think that the designers behind this site would be able to clean up their act. Very frustrating site to use.
... horrible! They have some interesting headline on Yahoo to lore its visitors to this advertising platform and then the site loads at a snail's speed a making it useless and worse it often locks the browser window and freezes the computer screen. One of the worst advertising link farms on the internet! Avoid it!
This site absolutely sucks! There are often times where someone shares something from the site that I am very interested in reading but can't even get half way through it because there are so many ads that the page takes 5 minutes to load every time you click the arrow to get to the next thing and half the time is freezes and doesn't respond and I have 57 mbps of speed so that should absolutely not be happening. This site is a piece of $#*!!
Hire a writer that can engage your audience. Your stories are at times captavating, but always fall flat. I am always sad that I scrolled through 23 photos of something I already knew and have more information than the publisher.
Not going to lie probably the most infuriating and stupid idea anyone could have had was to make an ad that was a video to automatically play when you enter a site. What's even worse?! When you $#*!ing have that video replay if it gets muted or paused. Of all the stupid $#*!ing ideas a site could have for an ad, this is probably the second worst one (first being the ads that put a virus in your computer if you don't have an ad blocker).
Answers.com would be rated 5 stars if the question were "Which Internet site is able to reduce the fastest computer to dial-up performance?" The epitome of clickbait. I believe the next edition of Webster's will have the definition of clickbait as "see answers.com". Only wish that I was able to rate the site at zero stars which is actually more that it deserves.
Answer: Same I dint get an awnser
Answer: The content is meaningless fluff, so don't worry about reading any articles from Answers.com as their site has anything but answers. It's a clicklbait site designed to draw the curious in and lock their computers so they stare at the ads waiting indeterminable amounts of time for the next slide to load. Stay away, it's a trap.
