Personally, this would be a 5 star without the stupidity of how long knowledge checks are and the if the explanations actually explained the topic we were on. Sometimes I'm on a specific topic and I don't get it. In order to find out what the heck to do, I check the explanation. At this point, every now and then the explanation is totally off of the subject. These are the only bad things about the platform, but I would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes math or wants to improve.
Aleks tells what is right is wrong, and doesn't help you understand what you did wrong! I had a very good experience with Khan academy, My math teachers from 4th and 5th grade made us use khan academy. Back then I hated but today I love it! Khan academy helps you understand what you did right and wrong, plus you get new avatars striving you to achieve more! Khan academy does every thing that ALEKS doesn't!
I would rather spend the rest of my life in the Guantanamo Bay detention camp than to have to use this program ever again.
Why any educator would believe that this program is worth using is beyond me. I am a student and my whole class is forced to use this god-awful program. 90% of the time my answers are right, but this garbage site claims they are wrong. Do not use this site, You're better off using Khan Academy or YouTube.

Too often it tells me answers are wrong, and I go to check even on the internet or myself and my answer was right.
It's so frustrating to have to rely on this piece of garbage program for my college trig course. I've gotten so upset because of this website, just the way it tries to explain things gives me a headache. I'll have to end up looking up a YouTube or KhanAcademy video to get a good explanation of the more difficult topics. I've spent hours on single topics just trying to figure out what the hell they are trying to explain. To make it worse, once you're on your last question before passing a topic, they'll throw in a trick question just to back-track you once you get it wrong. Thanks for f****** me over Aleks, explain your topics more thoroughly and not just as if you're only explaining it to Einstein.
I'm not sure how this program was implemented into our school system, but it wasn't a choice. These nonprofit organizations are wasting our tax dollars and sending it straight into their pockets instead of the schools. Why should the students spend time on this program that spits out "knowledge checks" that have nothing to do with the lesson that's actually being taught? Teachers are not in favor of it either, they are just puppets for the government. I am livid with the way our education system is run and hope that someone can help the millions of students suffering from severe depression and anxiety over the wasteful curriculum like ALEKS.
If you get 1 question wrong you basically have to restart your whole topic and it doesn't even tell you what you did wrong and only takes your points away. If I could rate it 0 stars I would.
For the way this program works, it should be free! This program sucks especially for its price. It takes up too much time, when you get a problem correct it marks it wrong ALL THE TIME and this is very frustrating because it pushes you back on a problem you never even got wrong. Their system is very jacked up, they should really consider quitting on this program, it is all total bs! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PROGRAM PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE! Then when you email them a complaint on why your answer was marked wrong (when it was clearly right), they bull$#*! you and try to make it seem as if YOU were the one that got it wrong and they was right. It hasn't only happened to me, as well as my other friends hate this program, as well as the mass of one star reviews on this program. I wrote this review hoping that one day it will help someone who is thinking of working with Aleks, not want to work with them anymore. Thank you and goodbye.
It might take me 10 minutes to do a problem, and Aleks will count it wrong and subtract my progress points. Thus, it takes me an hour to complete one topic. This has angered me to the point where I don't even want to try. I resort to online calculators to solve my problems, because I'm scared if I get one question wrong, I will lose points and have to start all over again. The e-book doesn't even have the same problems Aleks gives. This makes my whole entire math experience even more confusing. I HATE ALEKS. This website needs to be terminated. If it wasn't for the help of online calculators, I might spend 3 days trying to complete an assignment rather than the 10 hours I usually spend each week. Even worse, you have to do these knowledge checks every week. Miss a problem on that, and you have to repeat the topic. UMMM EXCUSE ME ALEKS... This program is a waste time. This program is a waste of my f*cking *******@mn time! It can take me up to 3 hours to get just even 10-15 topics done from having to go back and forth seeing what tiny little errors i missed in the question and the continous knowledge checks are ABYSMAL AND MAKE YOU RE DO THE TOPIC AGAIN IF YOU MISS A QUESTION ON IT! I had over 100 topics to do on this crap and had other classes ontop of it with so little time to do this bullsh! T F*CK ALEX AND F*CK THE PEOPLE WHO MADE IT

This is the most unneeded website in the world. It is a piece of trash that should be destroyed and should currently be burning. I hate it so much, and when I get into math class I look up why it's a piece of trash, as if I need evidence. It is a horrible waste of time. I HATE IT SO MUCH!
Aleks is just plain bad. Firstly, It takes you hours to find the thing. You cant just go to the website, you have to the math site, log in, click on your book, click on resources and click on the thing on the side. Secondly, the system of pieces. It would be fine if we were just doing problems, but no, we need to do pieces. Pieces are 3 or more problems you have to do, and you can lose them, with basically the devil at this point, KNOWLEDGE CHECKS. Not only do they waste your precious time, they make you lose pieces, which is basically your grade on how many pieses you have, and even if you have some of them, no, it is still ma zero. They give this torture machine to 6th graders expecting them to keep up with their normal assignments in every other class, including math! If you love torturing children, give Aleks to your students.
This program seems to be geared towards failure. It is not helpful in teaching nor learn mathematics. Aleks is a complete waste of time and is not supplemental to in-class instruction. I pay to go to college to and be instructed by human beings, not artificial intelligence.
I am in middle school and I agree with almost everyone. Aleks makes me feel like I can't do it because it will take me so long to complete one topic. IF you want to get depression or commit suicide, use this!#%@ing website.
