Aleks math not only just sucks, major $#*!, but it literally teaches you nothing. You go over maybe two or three questions per problem, and all depending on how many you get right, it could be more, could be less. Besides the fact I hate math in general, this made me hate it more along with my entire life and high school career. I actually dropped out it was so bad, and then I decided to try a new school just to find out they use Aleks as well.

The absolute biggest issue is the fact that I can put the right answer in but I'm marked wrong anyway. It happens every single time I do math. This program is not about teaching students it's about producing test scores. There's no actual absorption happening. I've had 4 Aleks math programs now in college and they are awful. The explanations are not helpful, the textbook is atrocious, and the teachers get away with doing the least amount of work possible. It's a horrible horrible horrible program. If I could opt out and take a regular math class I would but my school ONLY uses aleks. Not to mention you have to buy the codes and special math books for it, like why the heck is that not covered in tuition. I cannot stand paying for a service that does me no good and causing pure hatred and resentment.

Only sets you back, the time wasted on 15-20 topics a day could've been uses for studying for test. It's terribly operated, explanations assume prior knowledge, which makes them utterly useless. Khan is better, a book is better, literally anything is better than a system with an erroneous algorithm that marks correct answers wrong.

I'm in 6th grade and they're giving me 9th grade problems all because I'm in an "accelerated" class. Just wow. I want to $#*!ing kill the $#*! sucking fag who made this $#*!ty $#*! website, and yell at the damn helpline, but I can't because my phone has no sim card.

Also it does a better job at making you feel stupid and angry than actually teaching you math.

And also, to McGraw Hill as a whole, please just $#*!ing shut down aleks, there's no point in using it.

I have to use ALEKS for my statistics class and somehow it makes plotting a line graph the hardest thing I've done in college so far. I'm a junior in a STEM major with a 4.0. It marks entire questions wrong when one part out of six is incorrect and in order to redo it, after two wrong attempts, you have to get an entirely new question and redo the whole thing. This software wastes time and is frustrating and confusing for seemingly no reason. Instructors, please don't subject any human being to this pain and suffering.

Aleks sucks.
December 11, 2017

This was a horrible experience. I actually have reasons why. First of all, this site gets what you know through a knowledge check. That part isn't all that bad but it can be frustrated when you complete 10 topics for the pie and a knowledge check comes and sets you back a few. Over time, this can really make people get no progress, which is the opposite of what it is supposed to do. Also, they leave big spots on the steps on how to learn them. When reading a simple Algebra problem example, the site leaves a whole bunch of blanks that you have to figure out. So, before you buy, I'd reconsider.

Getting a question wrong punishes you with more questions, which causes a negative feedback loop of tom$#*!ery that takes up to 3 hours to get 10 questions done. If a school requires the unrealistic goal of 15 topics per week, the user has no choice but to fail a knowledge check, as otherwise it will take an entire day to get it done. No matter how typically calm the user is, the haunting orange text "try again" will unleash an animal rage that will make them want to snap their computer in half.

I have never been more lost in my life. The explanations are brutal. Teachers just use this tool because they are too lazy to make their own worksheets. I have never had more stress about school then doing my daily aleks objective. No wonder why this has a 1 star review for 1100 reviews. THIS SITE SUCKS

This program isn't any good at all and doesn't really show someone skill in math, you could have the right answer and still get it wrong because you didn't format it right etc. The pie thing is way too time consuming and students end up not even learning anything from it. Not sure why schools use this as an assessment.

Aleks has terrible explanations. They literally say to not get help from others and use the explanations. Except you can't. They're so bad, that I need someone to tell me what's going on. So much for self learning. Not fit for a 6th grader going into pre-calculus next year.

Not to be rude, well yes actually... This site needs huge improvements, A LOT of improvements. Just on my second thought, please delete this site... This is doesn't really help... You mess up a tiny bit and you lose your "POINT." Yeah, if you think that's bad then you've never seen awful before.

F*cking Trash
October 7, 2017

Hey, do you like to screw your students over? Do you want to be a pain in the $#*!? Then Aleks is for you!

Literally the most annoying trashy website ever. The main problem is the "knowledge check". You can't skip them. They contain a random assortment of math problems. The point of them is to check your knowledge every once in a while. Seems fair right? No it's not. If you even get one problem wrong, you'll have to do 2-3 topics over again. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually miss IXL. The explanations are $#*!, and if you get even one question wrong you will be starting over..

It stinks. There is nothing of value to be found here. The program punishes you for getting a question wrong, instead of helping you. It lowers self-esteem. The "explanations" offer little to no help in solving the problem. The program gives you different types of numbers in many problems to have more variety, I guess. But it only explains one of the types of numbers you encounter and then assumes you know what to do in every problem with every type of number. If it uses variables, they throw in a fraction and don't explain anything about how to solve the problem with a fraction unless you either get it wrong or hit that explanation button. This site sucks balls and we students are tired of it. We want change. F*#k ALEKS and everyone who assigns it to their students.

Aleks seems ok and easy in the beginning but after that, you begin to see what the creators' intentions were. It pulls you back every time you do well. Made for teachers who want their students to keep on working but never finish. Knowledge Checks help pull you back whenever you get ahead. Never teaches anyone anything and is always a drag on vacation. Makes kids lose their minds.

This website is absolutely terrible and I'm sorry to anyone who has to use it for school. I am absolutely frustrated with how they handle "teaching" math. Their explanations are super vague and even if you know you did a problem correctly it gets picky with you and says it's incorrect for reasons that it only knows. But yeah it's a waste of money and time. If you can, try to find a teacher/professor who doesn't use trash websites like this (another example being vhlcentral.com) for "teaching purposes," because it honestly doesn't teach students anything other than how to get frustrated for the rest of the day.

1. It doesn't teach you anything
2. It punishes you for learning
3. I am already struggling in school and to make the matters worse I have this on my back too
4. It does a better job at teaching you how to get pissed of all the time instead of teaching you
5. The site literally causes depression and anger issues.
6. And just like some of the other comments when you put in the right answer it would say it's wrong then it says that it's right like REALLY! ALEKS FIX YOUR $H! T.
6. And finally I would do anything to make this web site be taken down!

Would like to rate lower

Aleks is an absolute dumpster fire of a website and program. Staking the illusion of progress on the pie chart while all the while, confusing and infuriating the student to the point of dropping the class. Any college that decides to use this as an alternative for face to face or even lecture hall learning, should be sent to the most harsh jail that can be conjured up. Truly in all my times, I have never been more infuriated with a program and wish its creators nothing other than financial ruin and bankruptcy.

I'd rather have myself thrown off of the Grand Canyon! This is awful! It's explanations make no sense, whatsoever, and you get this "Knowledge Check" randomly that takes your score down. If you get an answer wrong, it takes your progress off. ALEKS can go shove a Trombone up its butt. I'm finished with this garbage!
