I bought a gift card for my daughter that wouldn't register online (had the receipt with the amount... everything). It was a Mastercard. I spoke with an Albertson/Safeway rep from corporate regarding this issue (the card was worth $200 and I paid almost $6 to activate it). The rep and I did a lot of back and forth and it was agreed upon that I would get the entire amount back except for $1 (she didn't even know why it was this amount). Anyway, I finally got a check for the gift card I paid for and my daughter couldn't use, but instead of $1, they kept $50! That's right...$50. This was not what was agreed upon and the rep didn't even have the decency to call me when the check was on the way like she had promised (probably because she knew they were keeping my money). Long story short... this company will sell you faulty gift cards and then take forever to resolve the issue as they keep a 1/4 of the money you paid to NOT be able to use the gift card in the first place. I will never buy another gift card from one of their stores. They are liars and they cheat people who did nothing wrong... this was a matter between Mastercard and Albertsons/Safeway, but they chose to rip me off instead. They don't even deserve the star I had to give them. Corporate cheats. BEWARE!
I went on line and arranged to have Albertsons cater a deli tray of pinwheels to server 12 to 16 woman for pick-up between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm the following noon. I received an email informing that they (Albertsons) had cancel my order at 3:05 pm. Just 45 minutes before the 4:00 pm earliest pick-up time. In order to process the order I was required to pay for the tray of pinwheels.
When I called the deli to find out how to have my funds returned to me immediately, I was told I need to call customer service. By now I had already placed an order with Pizza Hut for wings and a pizza for more than the cost of the pinwheel tray.
I had to call the store manager who researched my order and told me the funds would be deposited back into my account at midnight!
It is really not worth the hassle to have Albertsons cater a single tray of pinwheels, so you know anything more would be impossible!
Don't trust Albertsons!
During this hole process, I received text messages on the progress of my order, just to not have an order.
Terrible. Terrible business practice!
Beware

Canned goods bought this year that expired last year, the meat dept plays dirty tricks also! Many things I bought is thrown in the trash.
Just paid 5.99 for a little bottle of nutmeg, I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO PISSED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. Completely outrageous and so expensive. Albertsons is so expensive and I will not shop there again.
I've been shopping at Albertson's for many years. 2 1/2 years ago, I moved to Denison, Texas and was glad to find an Albertsons nearby.
But for some strange reason, they think they should have access to my name, phone #, and email address in order for me to get their "justforU" specials. I explained to them I don't do texts - I don't do or have apps on my phone - other than the weather and GPS. Too bad, I was told, the company requires you to sign up for their specials and want to have my information so they can track my purchases and sell my information to others.
I don't want their damn spam emails.
I know a lot of these younger people have fancy phones and don't mind giving out their personal information to anybody and everybody and getting spam emails. But I'm older, and I DO MIND!
I was given their customer service telephone number and was told I could talk to them. I was told the same thing, but without the sympathy of the employees at the store. I was told you either get the app / sign up for it, or you don't get the special.
Guess what! I don't need Albertsons! There's an Aldi's and a Wal-Mart close by too.
If you're going to treat me like a second class citizen and you don't care about my business - then you'll be doing without my business and I'll be telling my friends and neighbors just how much you hate and despise older people which is apparent since you can't seem to find a way to give those of us who are technologically challenged, or who want to protect our privacy - the specials you offer.
I know being a single older, retired person I don't buy as much as my adult children and grandchildren, but when I tell them how I'm treated, if they have any respect for me at all - and they do - you'll be losing their business too.
Oh by the way - you need to change the name of your "customer service" department to "policy enforcement" department.
When I called, I was told they were just following "policy" and the store employees had to follow the policy if they wanted to continue working there.
My advice is shop at Aldi's and Wal-Mar. They don't demand you give them your phone number, address, and email address to get their specials.
May be hard to believe but I placed my very first online order for pickup. (and last). My wife wants a particular size and type of butter that has not been on the shelves lately. I think she is crazy but if momma is not happy... I spotted it on the Albertsons website for order and PU in store. I tried to place the order but needed to meet a $ 25 min. So I added alcohol. I expected that I would receive a response about the availability of the butter. And then I spotted the hidden fine print that I had agreed to all sorts of substitutions. Albertsons tried to pull one over but I caught it. I found that I could modify this selection that I agreed to by default with hidden fine print. I modified to no substitution as this was the original intent of the order. An hour later after 5 emails soliciting more business I rec'd an "order is ready" email.
I went to the store and because I needed something else I went inside. The clerks did not know that orders could be placed online and looked at me like I was a dumb$#*! ( I am because I tried in the first place). Finally a manager came out, after much confusion he went to get the order. About 15 minutes later he returned. The order for the butter was incorrect. He told me they did not have what I ordered and I would have to accept the alternate because their website says so. He Knew nothing about opting out of a substitute. I explained that the entire purpose of the order was the specific butter and directed him to the hidden opt out option. He then started to lecture me that I needed to modify my orders to match what they had on hand. I told him to cancel the entire order. He said I still needed to take the alcohol. I then contacted the credit card company and put it in dispute. The parking lot has 4 spaces up front marked for online pickup orders. I will not be honoring these signs in the future.
The disrespectful and rasist 5th manager Hector of the 2899 Jamacha Road, El Cajon, CA ******* Albertsons, refused to sell to my wife and I 30min before closing, because my wife is Aribic. We had to drive 20mins to Vons to get what we needed.
Albertsons has a rating of 2 stars from 79 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Albertsons most frequently mention and customer service. Albertsons ranks 178th among Grocery sites.
