Airbnb host steal my money, and kicked me out of the house. Airbnb customer service took a long time to get connected, and didn't do much eventually. Using airbnb ruined my entire trip. I suggests stay away from airbnb.
The are cheating people and some account who have travel credit charge more money for the service, so they don`t have to pay any money.
Customers service didn`t help at all and didn`t provide any explanation.
Not using them again in the future.

There are plenty of good hosts on the site, but when you get a bad one, they not only refuse to help, but have policies in place that make it hard to get any justice on your own, such as through small claims court.
They will hide your negative review, no matter how justified. This means you can't trust anything you read on the site, nor the site itself, nor any of the hosts, just because they have good reviews.
As a couple we stayed 2 nts in one place and 4 nts in another. I wrote a negative review for one and good reviews for the other. The negative did not get published a week later. This is a conflict of interest of Airbnb. Either they convert the reviews to a choice of anonymous with email confirmation, or else I will pass future renting, as this seems to be a passing phase until more like me feel cheated and quit using Airbnb. Airbnb HAS to weed out bad hosts.
If I could give a 0 star I would. A host on Airbnb tried to charge additional money for everything after we had already booked the place. Even charging extra for checking in at 11pm. Many many hidden costs. The host says if we do not pay the additional costs he will call the police… We reported this to Airbnb and they told us they will do nothing and we should wait outside to check in the following day at 4pm! This is crazy! They also told us it is partly their fault because they failed to release the hosts manual before the booking which included all of his additional costs, yet they do nothing.
Airbnb has ruined our trip and I will not be using them again
I feel like it's hilariously unacceptable for me, a tourist, to not be able to rate a host and speak my mind after they have canceled without a reason a trip that I have booked and payed the advance.
Its unacceptable that Airbnb endorses and encourages its hosts bad conduct and does not allow us to give an honest review, so that other people may know in the future the hosts bad practices and make a calculated decision considering what has happened in the past.
Airbnb is the worst company in the industry! Not only they let a host cancel a paid in full reservation but there are no consequences for the host as well. When you call them, customer service (if you can call it that and outsourced in the Philippines) tries to get you off the phone asap and offers no remedies whatsoever! Back to using Home Away...
Air BnB. DONT DO IT. Avoid unless you have money to throw away. They refunded only $99 of a $1400 reservation I have to cancel shortly after reserving. They keep throwing out arbitrary numbers saying that first my refund would be this amount, then it would be that amount, then something else. They cant seem to settle on a refund amount and there is ALWAYS some story where they're trying to make sense of their funny math. Avoid the scam all together and get a motel/hotel. They have many, many did I mention many bad reviews and comments on their FB page from dissatisfied customers and their responses to the customers are laughable. They are pure garbage and scammers
We rented a home for the Kentucky Derby. Spent over 3500 for three nights. The place was a dump. There was a cat in the house which we were highly allergic to. No ice and the fridge was broken. Hidden security camera was located. Loaded guns in the closet floor. One less bedroom that was on the description, a couch so dirty that is was black tar.
With all of these problems, they did nothing to refund our money. We had to file in smalls claims court. Airbnb actually made the owners changed the description of the cat and the bedroom after we complained about, but we received no help.
Airbnb is only concerned about renting these dumps out and making a profit rather than taking care of the customer.
I had a lot of problems with refund my money and reviews on the website they don't put any negative reviews on website. Only positive ones,... you can't trust it!
I have used Airbnb twice and very disappointing
Looks good in pictures but in reality dirty nothing like pics.
Dont trust it!
This loft room in the heart of North London had an amazing view with roof top garden, as well as a lovely comfortable mattress. Sally the host was very friendly and accommodating, would definitely stay again if I was in the Alexandra palace area. Ticked all the boxes for me. Really homely and comfortable and a lovely accommodating breakfast, great.
Owners of that business created a money making machine for themselves and nothing else.
They do not want to improve the quality of the service by lifting up the requirement's level for the hosts.
They just simply ignore all negative reviews to avoid some troubles with a cash flow.
Booked. They said the needed ID. Gave them Passport and drivers licence ID but that was not good enough. They wanted Facebook or Linkedin? I don't have either of these so could not book. I have now deleted my account with Airbnb and will never deal with Airbnb again!
No Responsibility!
We recently rented our apartment through Airbnb. Their idiot guest heated a French press on the stove to red hot then placed it on the kitchen counter burning a hole and causing $1000. 00 in damage. Airbnb would not pay for the damages. I guess it's ok for their guests to damage your property. It's not their money!
I do not recommend using airbnb for any booking at all. Their customer service and policies to safe guard the customer are terrible and absolute non-sense. My host was horrible and Airbnb didn't take any actions against them.
I will be making a descriptive video on youtube and Twitter soon giving a complete description on the service and mental torture.
As a 5 star rated Super Host I've had some bad experiences with Airbnb providing unfair service to their customers. I had a guest claim there was mold after they stayed for a night. I offered a clean inspection report of the unit and offered to provide a new inspection to prove it was not mold but a marker stain and they refused and took my money instead. Unfair service, they just want your money and won't even bother with documented proof.
Airbnb asked me to commit a crime. I made a noise complaint and airbnb refused to do anything unless I spied on the supposed neighbors making the noise. They wanted video surveillance taken by me of my noisy neighbors. I told them no because you cannot record someone without their consent. I have never felt so harassed in my life. I didn't want a refund. I didn't want compensation. I just wanted something to be done about my noisy drunk neighbors.
I rented a flat for two weeks in June in Grange Road, Highgate, London UK via Airbnb. I had several problems with the facility and the way it was managed. Foremost the misleading listings on Airbnb (most attractive features not existing) and a very poor Meet and Greet. I posted a detailed factual review on Airbnb, giving a list of good and bad aspects, and a rating of 3/5. Airbnb refused to post my review stating that it did not meet their review standards and that " The review didn't have enough relevant information to help the Airbnb community make informed booking decisions." This shows that the Airbnb review process is a joke, and that they publish only reviews that enhance their rating and their business.
They do not verify the fallacious listings put up by unscrupulous hosts.
Stay away from Airbnb and use their more honest competitors.

We had major issues on our trip. Communication with the host was limited to text messages until we found some major issues. When we returned home all of the issues added up and we asked for half of our money back. You have to request a refund from the host! Of course it was denied! Their own claimes services are so slow to respond. Just stay at a hotel.
My account has been locked for 5 days for an unknown reason. I've called to verify my identity and contact customer support everyday. My account is still locked and I've lost 3 bookings so far valued anywhere from $1,000-$8,000. I've had no progress and no help other than I need to keep waiting an unknown amount of time. I'm losing business and so is airbnb. But they don't care.
Answer: AirBnB is the worst. You might be able to go to the resolution centre, but previous posts are correct. Watch your money with them. Once they make an error it's hard to get it back. You may have to go through the credit card you charged it to and even then the dispute process might take awhile. Hopefully, you have other money to use in the mean time or the date of your trip is at least weeks out? They are asking you to "verify your ID" so they can gain access to your linked in, Facebook and google contacts. They say it's a security measure to protect you and everyone else but it's not. They are pirating your info. They take your contacts and use it as a marketing tool for themselves or sell the contacts to other distributors. It's very common with sites like this now. If you want to continue using AirBnB you have no choice unfortunately.
Answer: Being a host, I can say that when things are going good, all is great, but if something goes wrong, as a host, you will not get the support from Airbnb that is promised. They do not stand behind their hosts, I find they like to a facade that all is great in the land of Airbnb. I have cancelled my listing and will not deal with them anymore in the future.
Answer: As a host & licensed realtor with multiple properties in both Los Angeles & Las Vegas which I book directly and also have listed with multiple vacation rental agencies, SAVE YOURSELF TIME, MONEY & AGGRAVATION by booking either DIRECTLY with the host or through other REPUTABLE Agencies, such as Roomorama.
Answer: I haven't been a host, but would certainly recommend that you read ALL the reviews here before getting involved with Airbnb. I can't think of ANY business of ANY type I would patronize that got a 1.5 star rating after 382 reviews.
Answer: They offered $25 discount of next booking I just chose to go else where
Answer: You don't. The only thing that you can be sure of is that if you have a problem Airbnb will be unreachable. They hide from dissatisfied customers and hosts alike. You are taking big chances when you deal with them. The benefits just aren't worth the risks.
Answer: No, you would be lucky and have to fight to get a refund if you cancel 1 day after you make the reservation!
Answer: Hello, First, the credit card co. Needs to be notified and will refund the amount spent. In turn, the cc co. Will backcharge. Airbnb is notorious for these types transactions and should be shutdown. Your son has learned a business lesson... research a business prior to do business!
Answer: This is the root of my problem with AIRBNB. They do not check to see if a host can legitimately rent the place they are advertising. In my experience, the host cancelled 48 hours before, claimed she was going to be evicted if she rented to me. I was only 3000 miles from home. AIRBNB offered me a 10% discount to rebook another place. I did not and will not use them again.
Answer: Susan's answer is very thorough and I agree with her. Even more important when booking places outside your country of origin to ensure you don't get a flea pit. Also, always look at the reviews, they are very important. If there is a really bad review, don't stay there. You need to check the locations online as well. You don't want to be in a bad, dangerous area... this just happened to someone staying in Philadelphia. If you have a problem, the AirBnB website is useless. Google the AirBnB customer service number from your location. Renee
Airbnb has a rating of 1.4 stars from 2,085 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Airbnb most frequently mention customer service, credit card and full refund. Airbnb ranks 442nd among Hotels sites.
