While the company does answer promptly when WO are submitted, the contractors don't always fit us into their schedules. Going on a week w/o A/C due to parts being ordered; 67yo grandma with Hx of heat stroke living in 84° temps inside home. I'm not happy!

Beware, DO NOT let this company tell you that you have exhausted the allowed funds for your coverage within a contract year. We had 1 service call for our furnace within 3 months of our contract renewal, and when we called for a replacement reimbursement, they said we used all $1500 of the allowance. We called the company who did the service, they were given $600. They now owe us $900. The last time they did this and tried to get out of reimbursement payment, we had to contact the State Attorney Generals office, who thankfully got us paid. This company is a scam, BEWARE!

Auto renewing contracts without client permission, then charges "administration fee" for canceling...what a unethical business. Can't wait for the class action lawsuit for these horrible business practices.

Their contractors are not just at the bottom of the barrel, they're underneath the barrel. We had a nightmare of AC repair problems with this company. The people they brought out were utterly incompetent. I finally called a proper AC company contractor, and they fixed the problem. Stay away from this company, it's not worth it.

Tip for consumers:
If the AC compressor goes out, they will make you pay for the freon which, at $110 per pound, is incredibly expensive. You will not save money with this company. The premium alone costs nearly $1,000 a year and it's not worth it

Worst company I have EVER dealt with! They lie to you, send out contractors that have been flagged by the BBB! Sent someone who didn' t know how to do the job. It has been over 7 months and my a/c still isn't fixed, but their contractor kept my $2000 and won't give it back! I would give them zero stars if it eas an option!

AHS (home warranty service) is a horrific company that will not provide any service in a competent manner. They have terrible relationships with contractors that will service your needs. As such, the contractors that come out will do the very least if anything besides taking a picture of the serial number and tag of the unit in question.
After several failed attempts to obtain service (at $80 per visit above the contract price), I still had to replace the dishwasher and oven and replaced the roof and attic insulation as well. That's $25,000 I'm out because AHS would not stand behind their contract.
I contacted the BBB in their area, Memphis, TN, who did nothing to fix my claims. As such, I'm out $1200 and left with a bad attitude toward the BBB and AHS.
Do not buy from them.

Tip for consumers:
Run! Do not use AHS or any other home warranty service. Just save up the money and buy the new products. Use Home Depot or Lowe's 24 month purchase with no interest to make it happen. I spent over $20,000 at HD on no interest deal, but make sure you pay it off before the 24 months or interest for the entire amount will be added.

I called for service 3 times in one year and AHS raise my monthly payment from $63 to $81, When i renew my contract. Because of the 3 times that I called for services. Hello, I was paying every month in case I need any service in my house! When I told them that I was going to cancel the service with them, they charged me a fee of $74 dollars because I canceled the contract after a year of been with them.Stay away from this Company, is okay for them to take you money every month but when you call for service they don't like and you have to wait over 72 hrs for an appointment for someone to resolve your problem.

Called in September for my heat pump. After they failed to find a contractor, in December I was told to find my own contractor and they would pay for it, I did that, but because of the problem with shipments from China, it was another 5 weeks to get it fixed.
In October my dishwasher would not work. The service guy came and ordered a new front display panel. Weeks later it was replaced, it still would not work. Then they ordered a new pump. Not available. So they sent me a new bottom-of-the-line dishwasher. I got this in January. Even after numerous calls, no one has installed it. Finally last week my son-in-law installed it. I can't show you any photos because my problems cannot be pictured. No receipt because I never got one.

Tip for consumers:
Please don't, and send me $10.00 for the aggravation I saved you! If you use them I promise you will have trouble from the start.

My widowed elderly sister is being totally screwed by American Home Shield. Contracted repair people are only there to take money. She's nearly 80 so she is an easy mark. She's been in 100 degree heat all summer because her a/c quit and they want HER TO PAY OVER $5,000 for repair parts.

I'm attempting to reach someone in the company who has some morals.

AHS is under the umbrella of Frontdoor Inc. New CEO is William Cobb at the headquarters in Memphis
Headquarters
150 Peabody Place, Suite 300
Memphis, TN *******

Share your experience with him. Just maybe he will change what has become a national disgrace!

Tip for consumers:
Don’t expect them to actually provide coverage. There is an excuse for everything. Don’t sign any offer. Keep receipts and notes of calls and who you talk to. Phone reps are in Philippines and can’t help.
Service contractors are paid little so they overcharge for every part. Save the money you’d spend on a warranty contract in the first place. You’ll come out ahead.

In March 2023 I opened a service request, 2.5 months later service is not complete. Customer service constantly lies about getting my issue repaired, refrigerator is freezing food. The repairs that have been "done" failed to fix issue. My fridge still freezes food & the freezer is frozen over! AHS claims they set up to additional service calls but when I call the repair company they have no record of appointments being set by AHS. Today I was told who they wanted to dispatch the repair to was booked for a month. Oddly I checked the company online repair schedule and they have several openings this week! Each AHS customer service rep gives you different scripted response but provides no resolutions & oddly you can never speak to a manager. Service tickets are closed out when service has not been performed. I have written the BBB and in the process of contacting FTC, consumer affairs and my state AG regarding AHS unscrupulous business practices. Stay clear of this company they will scam you & you will still be stuck with repairs not being done.

Avoid American Home Shield at ALL costs

AHS Stinks. They are incredibly good at trying to not pay for anything. It is very difficult to communicate or get any decent service. Once something breaks they try to never pay for anything until the customer just gives up.

Do not purchase AHS home warranties. Buyer beware!

AC broken in Jan, now it's Jun still haven't been fixed. My service request has been transferred to 12 or 13 different contractor, none of them works on my AC units. Every time contractor came and told me same thing, they don't work on Lennox AC with zoning function, and they will tell AHS to use Lennox certified contractor. But 6 months already! Their agents keep kicking the ball to each other. Their call is recorded right? Check your recording see how they just hired bunch of liars as customer service. Let me tell you some, one agent told me "i promise to find someone who work on your lennox zoning system" and they sent same contractor who came here and clearly state that they don't work on my unit. Called back, they said oh something probably have change during the past few days. Now they probably have a certified technician who can work on your system. 2 days later, contractor cancelled work order. Called back again, agent told me "ok, i'll send your work order in queue, if no one can be assigned, we'll authorized you to use your own technician. Waited for 2 days, they assigned someone who doesn't work on lennox zoning system again! Called back, agent said"ok i'll send your work order in queue, if no one can be assigned in 24 hours, we'll authorize you to use outside contractor. Waited for another 2 days, called back, agent told me" oh! Actually we just received your service report from last contractor! Your ticket is in queue today! Just give us 24-48 hours, if no one can be assigned, we will..." check your recording see if i'm making up a story... definitely stay away from this cheating company.

My 90 year old mother has a spare bathroom that hardly gets used and the toilet had a tiny drip on the tank bowl. She called AHS, and they sent out a tech to repair it. After working on it his diagnosis was it was abuse of the toilet. And AHS would not repair it. But he could fix it for $700. Talked to the escalation dept. no help or respect for the customer. She's been with them for several years. All our family has plans with AHS. 7 plans that are being cancelled. They used to be a decent company but now they're just greedy and don't care about their customers or their reviews. Thank You and good luck with your ratings AHS. 7 cancelled plans and counting.

Stay away from these people. They never do anything for the consumer. I have been trying to get our washing machine fixed for over a week now. They for some reason cannot give me a $ amount on how much credit they will give us to get a new one. The repair on ours is $815 on a 15 year old machine. I bought a brand new one for under $600. I was told they would give us the "cash out offer" on Friday(today). When we called again today we were told the original conversation I had Wednesday nothing had been done so now we have to wait another 24-48 hours to get the quote. When we spoke Wednesday we told AHS to stop the repair process on the old one. In the last 2 days we have received several parts we are going to end up throwing out the window since the old machine was taken away this morning. When or refrigerator broke a few months ago we were without our fridge for 13 days waiting for a repair that was over $1200 on a fridge we paid $1200 for new. We were living out of 4 coolers we had running down the hallway. Whatever you do shop for a different home warranty company. I filed a complaint with the BBB today and saw they have a 2.25 rating on the BBB. I wish I had done my research and saw that rating before I paid almost $1000 for this crappy coverage.

Tip for consumers:
Check their BBB rating before paying for their services.

Just a follow-up to my last review. Still no help from American home shield. Still no refrigerator still no check, this company is a total scam. They have done nothing to help me but look for ways to make me pay more. I keep begging people to find another company. This one is nothing but a scam

American Home Shield is a complete SCAM. NOT WORTH IT. They take your monthly payment but decline valid claims. We have submitted 2 claims which have been completely declined without merit. The first claim was for our HVAC which they claimed was due to weather damage. We live in Southern California where we enjoy some of the best weather in the country. We are a couple in our 60's and AHS recently declined our claim for the leak from the drum in our 5 year old LG washer stating "misuse." An utterly ridiculous statement that cannot be defended due to an inadequate appeal process.
STAY AWAY from AHS.

Do not choose AHS for anything

Keep your money in your pocket and do not give it to this scam of a company. I had my first call to them to use my warranty and it was an absolute joke. The air-conditioning stopped working and I contacted them. They sent out the contractor for repair, they looked at the problem and said it was the condensation pump. They left without fixing the bad pump. I tried to have them come back out for a week with no response. I fixed the pump myself. When I called to ask for my deductible to be refunded, they said they couldn't since they had already come out. Asked for a manager several times, all they could do is repeat is that the repairman had already come out so they cannot give me a refund. Don't take my word for it, read all the reviews except for the reviews on their site. Must have written or paid for those, I can't find a place on their webpage that lets me leave a review. Go figure.

Quick Summary: Started a claim for a broken water heater, plumber was unavailable and rude. Then, during a video appt. I talked them into coming out anyway (nearest plumber was 5 hours away, that says a lot on its own). On the day they were to arrive, they decided they didn't want to do it so the plumber made up a story he called me halfway out and said that I wish to close the claim because I fixed it myself. This enabled them to get paid, for doing nothing. Complete liars. Nobody wanted to do a thing about it, neither the plumber nor AHS since their record said the claim was closed. Even after explaining that this was not true, none of this happened, AHS chose to do nothing. $100 copay for nothing, no service no repair no appeal no nothing. Here's the long story: 10 years ago we purchased a second home and of course AHS Warranty was what was included for the first year, even though we knew it to be a problematic company to deal with according to all of the neighbors. At first, we were feeling lucky (and reminding the neighbors of this) with the applicance coverage part of the warranty as we had a company within an hour that was quick and great with diagnosis and repairs. Bill's Appliance in Bishop, tremendous company. But when it came to plumbing calls or other services, AHS had the worst of the worst available. Dr. Drain. A loopy old guy who was a gambling addict and spends most of his time at the casino. If he showed up, it would be a miracle. Nice guy though dealing with appointments was a challenge. He didn't do much to help us out but he tried in his own way, but for days. Eventually we hired another plumber on our own to find the problem, and it was found within 15 minutes and fixed within 10. Fortunately AHS covered the bill. Points to them. So again, neighbors, AHS came through.
Well, here's where it gets super ugly. This is where any and all points they had won previously with us, were deleted in our minds and counting backwards by the minute. We had a water heater problem, no hot water. Obviously that's a problem. Well, they didn't have anybody close but they set us up with a contractor about 5 hour drive away. OK, well, however it has to be handled, I'm ok with that. I pushed the guy on the phone to get an appointment sooner than the original 2 weeks and he was able to pull through with a video appt that afternoon. Sure enough, we had a video conference with the actual plumber, though he was condescending. He complained that he would lose $ to complete this claim and I basically said, I'm sure you can figure out how to make $ from this. He got real cocky and said I was being rude. Ok, he didn't get my intent, but I asked him to come out asap and I'll make sure he gets the review of reviews. So he said he can get a guy out on Sunday (this was a Friday I think) and he would call me Monday morning. Maybe he'll even text on Sunday if he gets in early. So, I am making sure I don't have plans on Sunday or Monday. Ok. I never heard a word, either day. Finally, I called Monday afternoon, trying my best to give them the benefit of the doubt, and the plumber's operator said that I had talked to their guy and I told him that I fixed it myself. Wow and huh? I fixed it myself? First of all, I offered to send my call log to him to show him that nobody called other than my wife those 2 days. No texts, no emails, etc. So they said they were all done and claim is closed. Of course I questioned this, but the guy just hung up on me. So I called AHS, after 25 minutes on hold, I talked to a nice operator who also said that I had closed the claim. Huh? Again? How is this happening? So I call both again, to ask what is going on. Nobody wanted to discuss it. I am doing my best to keep calm and though that's my style, it was tempting to get angry but that doesn't help anything. So I finally get AHS back on the phone and I asked for a supervisor, nobody available. Call back? Not available. Open up another claim just to get this taken care of properly (start over), not an option. So I took the evening to calm down and consider other options. This is so weird and nobody is interested in helping get our water heater fixed. I tried other plumbers in town, maintaining my previous experience that I could just get reimbursed. Nobody is available for 3 weeks, it is crazy time in town. Plus nobody will work for AHS since every single one of them will not ever work for AHS again, explaining their own horrible experiences with AHS. So it's back to AHS I go, on the phone. Nice gal, doesn't know what to do since the claim is closed. Reads to me that I "fixed it myself and that the plumber will be paid for their time for driving all of the way out here and had to turn around without any work done". I call the plumber again, nope, no change in their story, they are sticking to it. So I look them up on Yelp, Google, FB. Their reviews are pretty awful and it seems they have done stuff like this before, so I brought this up to AHS. No interest. Can I make an appeal? At least get my $100 copay back? Nope. "Somebody from up high here at AHS will give you a call to follow up in a few weeks and you can explain it to them if you are so inclined". No call ever received, no follow up ever made. So I cancelled the plan (was paying annually and it was up for renewal in a month or so). I then get so many phone calls to renew. Nope, I explain why, no interest. I get so many emails to renew. Nope, I respond the same and I even fill out an online survey with a shortened version of this story. No interest, no reply, no follow up. So they have my $100, the plumber got paid even though they completely lied about everything. So I left a review on the plumber's FB page telling a shorter version of this story. The Admin of their page followed up with a personal attack on my own FB page with incredibly rude comments about me and how awful I was and that I was a liar and they did everything to get my hot water fixed and then I waited until they were halfway here to let them know I fixed it." Geez, well that didn't happen and my hot water is still on the blink. So, what would you do? I eventually paid somebody out of pocket to fix it and got hot water. The plumber who showed up in 3 weeks (had to wait, no choice) was quick and nice. Relatively easy fix for them as well. Here's my thought - DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO AHS. IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. THEY GET HORRIBLE REVIEWS AND THIS IS WHY. IT'S A BIG CORPORATION WITHOUT ANY LEADERSHIP OR INTERESTED PARTIES TO IMPROVE THEIR SERVICES. Also, do not ever use PLYMWR Plumbing in Victorville, CA. OMG what a bunch of liars.

These guys are crooks. I cancelled my warranty, received a confirmation that after 9/25/21 no further bank drafts would be made from my checking account. On 10/27/21, they indeed drafted my checking account and when contacted refused to return my money. Time to get an attorney!
