-2 weeks, House up to 107 degrees inside, 10 phone calls to American Home Shield, begged to talk to a supervisor, assured I would get a return call, and still haven't gotten my first serviceman from American Home Shield or a call from a supervisor. They took the service fee immediately and have done ZERO towards fixing my AC. My name is Jeff in Moseley VA so American Home Shield can respond. Job opened 27 July and today is 8 Aug…. What you have done to my family is criminal!
I was debating whether to use AHS or stick with 2-10 home warranty. I signed up for AHS, and my sister, who uses AHS, had so many issues with AHS then once I compared 2-10 to AHS, I decided to stay with 2-10. It took two calls and three different repres to cancel, and I was charged a $60 cancellation fee. What a waste of money! I reviewed the contract with states an administrative fee - but does not state $60. Stay away from AHS.
Cancelled Account over 3 months ago & just received notice I was sent to collection co. For non-pmt. Of mo. Prem.? Will take a lot of time now to straighten out. Stay away from this outfit period!
It's been 3 weeks since I called for my toilet to be replaced and still haven't gotten done yet. This is very frustrating and I'm not renewing my membership. They really sucks.
HAD AHS years ago at another home, used in past they did minor repairs as stated.
This year after having to use for HVAC that was bought and serviced by SEARS SINCE 2001, HAD EXTENDED WARRANTIES ON IT. Sears ended service 2 yrs ago with their issues, so bought American home shield,( 2021) plan that that would pay certain dollar amount if can't repair. AHS would not honor this because they said it had not been maintained. Sears did servicing all those years and one other company after ended contract. It had to be maintained or it would not have lasted that long. They said I could clean compressor which would damage old unit per 2 other companies and their service co. Said
the same. Cost was too high for an old unit with a 1 yr warranty, so I replaced after 6 estimates. Escalated complaint to management to no avail. THEY DO NOT HONOR OR WANT TO FIX OR PAY FOR ANYTHING...as in past years ago.
Can't talk to a person! Perpetual Hold! Wants to collect $&$$ up front but arrive for service from call date 5 Days! Then can't connect with anyone except automated message
This is my SECOND TIME dealing with them on appliance issue. The first time it took them over 2 1/2 months to repair my dishwasher because of the hold up in getting parts authorized. Now it's our refrigerator and now we are at two weeks without a refrigerator because we are waiting on them to authorized a part that THEIR CONTRACTOR states we need. If I paid out of my pocket it would have been fixed that day. But SHAME ON ME for trying them one more time. Just give me my money back and I will get someone else to do a this 30 minute job. If you can do without your appliances for months when they break then this is your company.
I have called ahs for 3 days now for a plumbing issue the contractor they sent out was not a plumber he could not fix the problem every time I call ahs I get a different person and they promise to call me back in sending a different contractor I have yet to recieve a call back I've been with this company 12 years you think they would treat people like they would want to be treated
Thank you for your response. However, it has taken over a month to get any response from your company! I have tried calling in and the wait time always exceeds 90 minutes. This is unacceptable.
Please review my account. I have had several conversations with your customer service. Initially, when my water heater failed on a weekend, I spoke to Michael, one of your representatives who told me to call a plumbing company if it was an emergency because it would take at least 24 to 48 hours to have one of your contractors come out. He called me later to apologize that I was misled and that he failed to mention that part of the contract. He repeated that part of the contract over and over again when he called me because I asked a supervisor at your company to have the recording of our initial conversation reviewed. Obviously, he was reprimanded and was required to try to correct his mistake by reading and repeating American Home Shield's policies, only taking care of his liability and completely neglecting the problem it created with me.
I am asking you to make an exception and reimburse what I paid. This is an example of a poorly trained "customer service representative" giving me, a customer, misinformation. Your template email stating that "Unfortunately... Your claim has been denied..." is fitting for a company that takes no personal interest in its customers.
Because I have not experienced the great customer service or better response time I was expecting from American Home Shield, I am definitely going to another warranty company.
On August 4,2022 I signed a contract with American Home Shield (Contract ID: *******) after my other home warranty which was purchase through the escrow expired. On September 27,2022, my downstairs AC failed, and I called them for service. American Home Shield denied the claim stating the contractor on site determined the issue is a pre-existing problem and instructed me to contact the contractor. I called the contractor which stated he only determined that the condenser failed but never stated pre-existing. The conclusion American Home Shield refuse to fix the AC and blames the contractor and vice-versa. I already filed a complaint with California Insurance Commission and Better Business Bureau and sent them a notice before legal procedure.
Fairly bad experience. 1 out of 5 claims have been addressed over 8 months on a new home purchase.
The contractors they get are the generally the worst of the worst. Think lower trained skilled folks or others that could not be hired by a reputable service provider. My guess is these contractors don't like working as an AHS contractor and so put in little effort, or AHS does little work to vet their contractors. In either case, if you get a bad one they WILL NOT assign a new one to you without you paying another $75-100 request fee.
In two cases the contractor AHS assigned just refused to show up or do the basic inspection (and/or not call me back after reaching out to them 15 times). In another case the company is saying minor pre-existing conditions are not covered, even though during the sales process they will say they are. Another contractor just tried to leave the house without even telling me what was fixed and if it was fixed (which it wasn't). Another did "fix it" for it to not work the first time I tried it.
Sadly, when you call customer service they are not helpful. The contractors tell you upfront they service wont cover much. I feel they set this system up with poor contractors to take people's money without providing any service. The ONLY good experience has been the person that re-keyed the locks. He did an amazing job. The rest has been a waste of time (literally days of back and forth) and money.
HOT WATER HEATER BROKE 3/7/18. AFTER NUMEROUS CALLS, AND RED TAPE REPLACEMENT WAS DONE 3/30/18. ALL THIS TIME I HAD NO HOT WATER AND NO ONE CARED. THEY PULLED OUT A CLAUSE IN THE CONTRACT FOR MODIFICATIONS AND I HAD TO PAY $493 TO THE CONTRACTOR BEFORE THE WORK COULD BE DONE. I CANCELLED ALL 3 CONTRACTS I HAD WITH THEM THE NEXT MORNING AND CONFIRMATION #S WERE GIVEN. AFTER STEADILY GETTING BILLS FOR THE LAST 4 MONTHS AND CALLING EACH TIME TODAY 7/17/18 I WAS TOLD, NO ONE HAD TAKEN CARE OF THE CANCELLATION. NOW I AM BEING TOLD IT WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF NOW BUT EACH ACCOUNT HAVE TO PAY A $40+ DOLLAR CANCELLATION FEE. THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN! SO HELLO PORTFOLIO. AMERICAN HOME STEAL IS TERRIBLE AND THEY CAN KISS MY ENTIRE %&@.
I would give zero stars, but that's not an option. All of the other bad reviews pretty much sum up how horrible this company is, so I'll just add this: Based off of my experience, plus the other reviews, it's likely that AHS will deny your claim for repair or replacement, even if your contract states that repair/replacement is covered. If your situation is like mine, AHS will use an incompetent contractor that doesn't fix anything, then try to force you to pay more money out of pocket. If you have a bad experience with AHS, you should file a complaint with the Tennessee Office of Attorney General (AHS is based in TN), and also file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office of the state where you live. This should lead to an investigation so that AHS will not be able to inflict so much damage on its customers. The reason AHS gives such horrible service is because not enough people file complaints with the Attorney General.
Do not get scammed by this company. I had many properties on AHS. The customer service is terrible and they send bad suppliers to service. They go with the cheapest. Many of the reps do not understand English and they trap you with cancellation fees as well as do not elevate to someone that will respond to you. Been trying to get resolution for 4 months to no avail and finally just cancelled all properties. They charged my card today for a monthly charge today and said the fee would not be refunded. Thye also charged and early cancellation fee. On line insurance is hard to ssue but I am going to try as the plumber I brought out fix exactly what we said was the problem quickly but it cost me alot out of poscket that should have been covered if the company sent a skilled plumber. Lots of complaints on this company. Run from them!
We have used AHS for a while, and almost every experience has been the same. We requested service two weeks ago for a leaking dishwasher. The company contracted with American Home Shield contacted me three days later and advised me they didn't have an appointment time for two weeks. I advised of the urgency, and I was told that was the only option available. I contacted American home shield for alternatives none of them could help us any sooner. In the meantime, multiple cabinets have been completely saturated with water and are no longer usable. I saturate multiple beach towels daily, Trying to keep up with the water leaking. We were told. We were told why don't you turn off the water? Well, our dishwasher piping is welded into the water supply for the kitchen, so wholly shutting it off is not a good option. I have called nine times, requesting service, and was advised that I have to wait as they have no other contracted providers. I called multiple providers around town and was told they could send someone out today, but AHS said if I hired someone else, I would not be reimbursed. In addition, I was told that I would not receive a refund of my $75 fee if I hired my own company. So for anyone debating purchasing a home appliance warranty, don't expect prompt service or quality if you use AHS. The salespeople will tell you whatever you want to hear when trying to sell you the contract. So now we wait with five cabinets unusable, utterly saturated with water, waiting for someone to fix it.
This compa is hit or miss.
BE AWARE (Administration fee) CANCELLATION $100
It can take them months to approve or deny you.
You will be just arguing with vendors and Customer Service.
Cheap work for sure. Real Technicians do not recommend.
I recently canceled my contract because of the very poor service I experienced from American Home Shield.
I called about a plumbing issue in my kitchen. While a contractor was selected, the contractor was scheduling over 10 days out. This was unacceptable as I need my kitchen to care for my disabled veteran husband. After contacting AHS again, another contractor was selected - from another city over an hour away, still scheduling several days before a visit could be made. After speaking with another AHS customer service representative, I explained, again, the importance of needed repairs. They escalated to dispatch BUT no one contacted me. I ended up contracting a licensed, bonded contractor and spent hundreds of dollars. I submitted receipts to AHS for reimbursement, because, I believe AHS was not doing their job in finding a repair contractor. A week later, a contractor contacted me, too little too late. And, an email denying my reimbursement!
I was so upset and subsequently upsetting my husband, I demanded reimbursement of my service call fee and canceled my contract demanding return of my yearly payment.
I truly believe the business practices are severely insufficient. I cannot believe how poorly the service is from such a "reputable" home warranty company.
They need to rethink their service philosophies.
American home shield is the biggest scam in the planet. When you sign up with one plan you trust their customer service they give you the monthly payment and saying you're in a platinum plan but they are they're putting back to shield gold. I requested it to open. The conversation was recorded. There is no recording. If you have any other choice do not choose American home shield we have a three properties with American home shield and we're going to call and cancel.
They are sending their companies that diagnosing at the scene one thing and sending to the insurance completely different thing and American home shield calls and says does not cover benefits. The company was sent is Pro price heating and cooling LLC. We requested for a second opinion with a company we want it AHS keeps telling us they're sending it on the portal but the we wanted their portal is not working. AHS SCAM. AHS customer service going out of their way to insult the customers. No wonder they are in Philippine. My next step would be to file a complaint on BBA.
IF I could i would have given them a ZERO star! This is the worst company, customer service, and will rip you off. We had a water heater and garage door break with in two weeks of each other. Plumber they sent out never returned calls and left us with no water heater. Here we are 1 month later and still no help from AHS for another plumber or cash out to buy our own water heater. Garage door spring broke and we disclosed this when claim was opened as well as to the door repair co. We were charged a fee $175 only to be told the spring was NOT covered. I am fighting to get refunded the $175 as both AHS and the garage repair company knew that it was a spring that was broken but took our money knowing that it was NOT covered. We have been paying into AHS for over 10yrs and this is the first claim we have ever done. AHS is a RIP OFF. Only bare min is covered
if that, they get you to pay the $175 knowing this. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON AHS like we have!
Buyer Beware! This Company uses poorly rated network contractors that have questionable business practices. Once company assigns you one of their network contractors; Their motto seems to be "IT'S NOT OUR PROBLEM, IT'S YOURS!" Customer Service and Escalation Departments will not assist in issues with their network contractors. Bottom Line, Save your money; do not purchase contract from this company.
