The employees just read scripts. They don't listen. They don't care what your issue is. U can NEVER speak to a manager. It is like having NO coverage. When the contractors do show up over a month after your first call they don't know what they are doing. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this HORRIBLE company
I seldom give a 1-star reviews to a company. But this American Home shield, if I can give negative star I would. This company is way no good. Better look for another company. You going to regret it for wasting your money and time with them. It happened when my washer was not working. I called them. There were 3 contractors came, all of them said that my washer cannot be repaired. They sent their diagnosis to them (American home shield) This company was trying their best to repair it so that they can save money and not spending more money for a new washer. It took 1 month for my washer to be replace. It was not fair on my part because they give me a check to buy a new washer but less than of what I bought of my washer. I bought my washer $800 plus. They said they will replace same item if they cannot fix it. They issue me a check worth of $501.99. Also, their service call fee is expensive. A $125 per call either your item is fix or not. As what I said you will regret it if you choose this company. Do not believe to those who give 5 stars.
Horrible service! You can't get ANY PERSON on the phone - all automated - which I HATE anyway. They get your money up front for the contract, then $75 every time you call. AND you have to pay your $75 BEFORE they will even open a service request. THEN they send a yahoo out that says - that can't be fixed (oh yes a stopper on a sink that isn't working CAN be fixed-you any reputable plumber CAN replace the stopper) OR AHS doesn't cover that OR I've never seen that brand before I don't think I can find parts. Then you never hear another word back from AHS OR the service contractor. I want to demand my $75 back but I can't get anyone on the phone! I don't know why realtors recommend them - they are a waste of everyone's money.
Run, don't walk, away from these thieves and scammers. They send over the worst scum/criminal contractors, tore up my closet looking for a slab leak - I did not want them to fix my leak because of the damage they did, I wanted to hire my own plumbers, but when I requested a cash out - you can forget it! AHS lies and says they never received the invoice from the plumbers regarding the slab leak. The plumbers assured me they did indeed send the invoice, not once, but several times. When you try and get a supervisor, good luck! They lie and lie and lie, and you never get a dime. I am a fairly new customer, and will be calling my credit card to complain and try to get my money back. BE SMART PEOPLE DO NOT EVEN THINK OF PAYING THESE SCUMBAGS 1 CENT. THESE REVIEWS TELL THE WHOLE STORY. How these criminals can still be in business is beyond me.

6 DAYS they wanted me to wait to get my A/c fixed in AZ in JULY! 116 degrees weather! My kids almost had a heat stroke! So i called emergency a/c to come out and they fixed it immediately. But American home shield will not help pay any of it! I've been living in the house for only 2 Months!
They don't cover anything an incentivize their vendors to find things wrong so it's not covered by the warranty! You can always count on them lying about their warranty products and policies. I will never recommend them to anyone else. Budget Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing was horrible. Then the second opinion came out and was honest but did his own thing. This caused issues with the warranty company. How do you ignore a service order and go with your gut instinct instead of following the protocol? I'm not a plumber but I can read well. TJ would have been the best if he would have gone through the house. He wanted $200 to pull out something that belongs to MSD. How can I be held liable for a sewer vent? It's not the mainline! Arnon… come on now. Do better. American Home Shield refuses to give me a refund for the contract I have. They said I will only get $79 back after spending $475 to purchase it. Who the hell do they think they are?

OUR 30 YEAR OLD DRYER NEEDED REPAIR/REPLACING. AHS WOULD NOT APPROVE PUCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT DRYER AND WE COULD NOT FIND THE NEEDED PARTS, SO THEY SENT US A CHECK FOR $10. YES TEN DOLLARS! THEN THEY CLOSED OUT THE INCIDENT REPORT AS IF THIS WOULD BE SATISFACTORY TO ANYONE ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME!. WELL, SMOKE WAS SPEWING FROM THE TOP OF MY HEAD! THIS COMPANY IS DANGEROUSLY INEPT, UNRELIABLE, CROOKED, LYING, STEALING AND NO GOOD! I IMMEDIATELY CANCELLED MY MEMBERSHIP AS THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THESE THIEVES GOT A HOLD OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY. SAVE A LITTLE EACH MONTH FOR SURPRISE REPAIRS AND YOU'RE WAY BETTER OFF THAN HAVING A RIP OFF WARRANTY FROM AMERICAN HOME SHIELD!
No hot water for a month until I got my own plumber. Their plumber not available for 8 days. Second time this happened. Took 90 minutes on hoild to reach customer service
Sure at anytime they can find someone to finally fit you in to a schedule but if you need timely, forget it unless it's a very inexpensive job that your $100 co pay will take care of. The switch on my dish washer went out. It took 11 weeks to get it fixed and 7-8 phone calls. I looked up the part they used as an excuse with the ultimate fake excuse COVID delays and could order off Amazon and have it in two days. When I read reviews on the Company website with 5 stars, I recognize names used in scam videos on YouTube. Alex, Jose, etc. You are calling a call center in India. We received our annual renewal and my wife without mentioning it sent a check along with the statement. Little did I know they ran our debit card number again and automatically pulled the money without consent. Our bank is paying us that back for Electronic fraud. I have requested refund for three weeks and no action as of yet on double payment. I wanted to cancel! Do not use a debit card like my wife did. Find a provider in the states with offices and call centers in the state. Those same people you call today about home coverage will be the same people who call you tomorrow on a scam call. That's how they get all information needed. We think they are legit but they only take it to the edge on some things. I have to give them one star to get out of this program but they don't deserve it.

Stay away from this company! They take your payments and co-pays promptly but service takes months! The serviceman came out right away and determined that our garbage disposal couldn't be fixed. It took MANY phone calls and 7 months to replace our garbage disposal and then they replaced it with the CHEAPEST one they could find not one that was comparable to what we had. Second issue we are still trying to resolve is payment to a contractor who came out to fix our furnace. The contractor followed every instruction AHS gave him and its been 6 months and he still hasn't been paid. I have spent hours (5 1/2 hrs) on the phone over the last 2 days trying to resolve this issue and its still not taken care of. We chose this company because the reviews we saw on their website were excellent but I truly think those reviews are plants. STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN HOME SHIELD!
I have been dealing with AHS for several months now, and my experience with their customer service team has been nothing short of frustrating.
I have been attempting to obtain reimbursement for my Air Conditioner (AC) invoice, which I submitted with all the necessary documentation. Despite repeated promises and assurances from their representatives, the process has been riddled with delays and inconsistencies.
Recently, a representative told me that my reimbursement request was approved and that I would receive a check within 14 business days. However, my hopes were dashed when I called last week, only to be asked to resend an invoice that my property manager had already sent months ago.
I complied promptly, even submitting an electronic copy of the invoice to clearly demonstrate that it had been fully paid. Yet, my numerous calls to inquire about the status of my reimbursement have yielded disappointing responses that have left me frustrated and concerned.
While I hope for a resolution, it is disheartening to see the lack of communication and transparency within AHS's customer service department. I believe it's essential to share this experience with others to shed light on the ongoing saga of my reimbursement.
I will continue to update this review to keep everyone informed about how this situation progresses. It's my hope that AHS takes this matter seriously and works towards improving their customer service to prevent others from facing similar frustrations.
We contacted this company on Monday about our refrigerator going out. Two companies assigned to us and Thursday afternoon and no one has shown up after telling us they would be here daily. Just called and they said tomorrow. I just threw away over $1K in food today, trying to keep it until we could get our refrigerator and freezer fixed. 100 degrees here today and no ice, freezer or refrigerator for 4 days now. DO NOT WASTE YOUR GOOD MONEY ON THIS COMPANY. You will get ZERO customer service and spend days getting something fixed.
I have dealt with multiple home warranty companies and AHS ranks as my worse experience - due to the following regarding a received HVAC service: 1. AHS automatically assigns the "first available" contractor who is generally a subpar 1-2 star company. (i.e. Frog heating and cooling). Once they assign this contractor you are stuck with them unless you accept the cash out option. 2, Any repairs that are covered by AHS are always less than the "modifications" that the contractor states are necessary and must be paid out of pocket by client - this is usually in the $thousands when dealing with repairing an HVAC. It is evident that these "so-called - modifications' costs mask the cost of the actual repairs that are supposed to be covered by AHS. 3. The Cash-Out option is always a minimal / discounted and/or wholesale amount-- for instance - I'm supposed to receive a total of $250.00 for a heat exchanger (usually $700 and up) and furnace blower. 4, When you select the cash out offer - you are suppose to received your payments within 21 days. Its been over 21 days -- I've called and was told that it was sent out but they can't confirm what address it was sent to (I have multiple properties) and now it will take an additional 14 days to re-issue a check. When everything is said and done -- AHS and its approved "contractors" are in collusion to gouge its clients. I have multiple contracts with AHS and I will not be renewing the contract!
Our AC went out, 95 degrees outside, AHS could not find a provider in the area after several days. They FINALLY approved us to use our own contractor. However, AHS makes it so difficult for a contractor to get approved, we end up paying for the work out of pocket.
I had an air conditioner compressor replaced by AHS less than a year ago. It always made a weird noise, but I didn't think much of it being the replacement was in August and I live in Texas (just needed my house to be cool). The sound got progressively worse and during my A/C checkup this summer, the contractor said it is faulty and needed to be replaced. This was in June 2021... it is now almost October. I have been tossed around between contractor phone calls telling me they haven't heard of a work order, agents from AHS telling me a variety of stories, not following through, and not to mention themultiple dropped calls. I was calling once every two weeks, to once a week, and now twice a week... still not getting anywhere. However, they are sure to still charge me my monthly subscription fee right on time. This company is so sketchy. Their representatives have chickens in the background, only the script, and their "manager" is always "busy with other clients". I have never experienced something like this and honestly feel like there might never be fixed.
I would give zero stars if I could. They dont cover what is in your contract, then when you try to speak to a Supervisor they ALWAYS say they are not available but tell you a Supervisor will call you back but that never happens, then they try to double charge you on service calls you already paid for and they let you know this by e - mail that you can not respond back to because it's one of the no reply e mails so you are forced to call them at their overseas call center and wait on hold for 2 hrs. On average and then when you get through they will not answer your question out right then they hang up on you. When you ask them for their legal representatives point of contact so you can have your attorney contact them they out right deny that to you. I will never ever ever use this fraudulent company again. Oh and did I mention their website has no other number you can call but their overseas call center and they conveniently have a no class action lawsuit clause in your contract only small claims court which they give you no information when requested so you can give it to your attorney to make case for small claims court. Do yourself a favor and look at all the scams they have pulled on people on youtube.
I am writing this review in hopes of saving others from making the same mistake that I made. If you are considering hiring a home warranty company do not make the mistake of hiring American Home Shield. My water heater went out over a week ago. I filed a claim and the next day American Home Shield withdrew the $125 service fee from my account. 8 days later and American Home Shield still has not hired a contractor to fix my water heater. Every day for the past four days I have requested that they authorize me to hire my own contractor. Every day they tell me that my request has been referred to "Contract Relations" and I will hear back from them within 24 hours. This has gone on for four days now and they still will not authorize me to hire my own contractor nor have they hired a contractor to come inspect my water heater. When I ask to speak with someone in Contract Relations they tell me that they do not have the ability to transfer my call to them. There is only one customer service number and it is a call center in the Philippines with people that barely speak English who are all reading from a script. They will not allow you to speak to a supervisor and there is literally no way to escalate your complaint. This company is a total scam, and completely unethical. They have taken my monthly fees and taken $125 from me for a service call, and could not care less that I have a 7 year old daughter that is having t take cold showers while they play games and drag their feet.

Take your money and do not provide the service, then they mark the service as completed when no one has ever came out to take care of the problem. They was contacted by the furnace repair person they assigned to the job and told BY the repair person they contracted that they do not service our area... BUT THEY STILL TOOK OUR MONEY AND MARKED IT IN THEIR SYSTEM AS COMPLETED! I have contacted them 2 times now for the refund and still have not received it as of yet. Very untrustworthy in our opinion. No way to do business.
