Horrible service
June 2, 2020

I turned in a request on May 21,2020 for my air conditioner, the contractor came out May 22, told us we needed a new unit. I contacted american home Shield on Monday 25th. Got no answers then called contractor got no answer, it's now June 2, I still have no answer from ash, I'm in okla. So the temp is 95 degrees I finally called another contractor to fix my unit on June 1 and they are here today June2 to replace my unit. To say the least AHS has terrible service and apparently the contractor they were using was just as bad! I would never recommend this company to anyone, Very unhappy Jo Roberts

No Heat ….AHS Doesn't Care
March 22, 2023

AHS is NOT worth the money. I've been with them for almost a year and all they try to do is save a buck. As of today, I'm in my second day with no heat, hot water and stove. There are gas leaks from several valves throughout my home. Our gas provider has turned off the gas to our home until the issues are corrected. AHS said they would expedite the matter. One of their contracted plumbers came out today and provided AHS with an estimate. To save a buck they are requesting a second opinion from a provider who can can't come out until tomorrow. This mean will our family will be without heat and water for three days minimum. When I tried to call and speak to a supervisor I was told, "we are doing things according to our policies and there's no one on the escalation team to speak with you". The customer service is problematic and there is no sense of urgency to to get repairs done. EVEN if you are purchase their premium warranty.

SAVE YOUR MONEY! Get a handy man you trust in your area.

Attached is a conversation for the contractor they insisted I have a second opinion from. So … there's a chance my family will be without heat and all gas appliances for a 4th or 5th day.

Hot wate heater
September 18, 2020

Our hot water heater was broken, leaking badly. AHS contracor showed up, never shut off water to heater. Contractor never sent a quote for replacement. Cost out of pocket was $1000 for code complinace, etc. Ever add on was $85, even though pan cost $30 from Lowes. We wanted a cash out, AHS offered $250! Where can you buy a heater for $250? Nowhere. The contrcactor works on comission, never again. Thanks goodness the A/C didn't need fixing.

Horrible customer service. My AC has been broken since June 1st. The assigned technician is non-responsive terrible misdiagnosed the system once already. I can get no answers from the service representatives at American Homeshield, they have a very strict script that ends in them calling the assigned technician. I understand COVID has caused delays, etc. My parts were originally supposed to be in stock on July 27th but were not. My parts have been at the assigned technician's shop since August 20th. For 20 days now, I have been calling both the assigned technician and American Home Shield, and all they will tell me is to wait. The technician always has an excuse, the truck broke, he doesn't have enough help, he is overwhelmed with work. American Homeshield states they can not help.

This company is a scam! They never fix anything and waste your money and time. Do not get this home warranty. Save yourself a lot of grief! They will take your money and make an excuse not to fix anything every time they send somebody to repair. DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM LIKE ME!

THEY ARE TERRIBLE.
January 31, 2023

I paid the deductible for a service appointment on my washer. It was determined that it would be a "very big job" to fix it. I was sent an email stating that I could pick out a new washer, so I logged in. I then got busy and went back to it a few hours later. The status had changed to be a partial approval for repairs. WHAT?! Then I called and was told I was indeed approved for a new washer or a $500 buy out. Then I got a call saying that I wasn't. I was only approved for a a partial repair or a $200 buy out. In the mean time, I HAVE NO WASHER! They are rip off artists. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

I signed up a contract with AHS in 2022. Requested a service when the dishwasher was not working in April 2022. AHS sent (after 4 days) someone from NATIONAL PLATINUM SERVICE INC. The servicemen did not even speak nor understand English and was not able to fix the problem, let alone even diagnose the issue. I had ro call my handyman and he fixed it in 15 mins -- it was just a lose connection - landed of paying the handyman $150. I reported this to AHS and asked them to refund the service charge and they declined after several attempts. I requested them to cancel the contract but instead decided to increase the fee by 15% and continued to charge my credit card. The contract is still not cancelled and they continue to hold on to it even without my consent!

Think before you sign-up for AHS - look for other options. Most of the testimony seem to be paid and they seem to have lost the trust and commitment to service the customers.

I had one issue with the refrigerator LED light flickering and this company could not resolve/fix that in about 5 months. I requested to cancel the service and was expecting refund as I bought this insurance in Jan and cancelling in August. I was expecting a refund as I paid full 600$ when I bought this insurance. I end up paying $50 after cancellation instead of getting any refund. Customer service walked me to different contract clauses and mentioned that I will not get any refund. Below was the calculation given to me which does not make any sense.

Total Contract Cost as of Cancellation Date: $380.48
Administrative Fee for Cancellation: $50
LESS (Total Amount Paid as of Cancellation Date) :($ 600)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Amount owed to American Home Shield:$50

I'm beyond frustrated with AHS Home Warranty and want to warn others about their poor service and deceptive practices. If you're considering purchasing a home warranty with them, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Unfulfilled Promises and Deceptive Practices

I advised my clients to sign up with AHS under the impression that my client's home systems and appliances would be protected. However, when we needed them the most, AHS failed miserably. My client's air conditioner broke down, and we were confident it would be covered under the plan. After all, it's listed clearly in their coverage details. Yet, AHS denied the claim.

Terrible Customer Service

Dealing with AHS customer service was a nightmare. The phone rep was rude. They even sent a technician who supported our viewpoint and still, after sending their report, AHS found reasons to deny our claim rather than actually fixing the problem.

Hidden Loopholes

It's astonishing how many loopholes AHS has in their contracts. They will twist any clause to their benefit, leaving the customer high and dry. We were told that my client's claim was denied because of "pre-existing conditions" – a vague term they use to wriggle out of their responsibilities. Funny how everything becomes a "pre-existing condition" when it's time for them to pay out.

Professional Regret

As a realtor with many years of experience, I have trusted AHS with over 100 warranties for my clients, believing they were the best in the business. My recent personal experience has shattered that trust completely. I can no longer, in good conscience, recommend AHS to my clients or anyone else. I regret every single recommendation I've made in the past.

Save Your Money and Your Sanity

If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, avoid AHS Home Warranty at all costs. Their service is nothing short of a scam, designed to take your money without providing the promised protection.

"Happy Talk," that is basicly and only thing your payments reliably provide.

Every interaction seems to be designes to be made more difficult than necessary. If you like talking to computers, this is a good place for you! Even the FAQ number sends you to a telephone tree that has no germaine "selection" for the issue that the FAQ said could be addressed at that number. Then when you do finally find a way to get through to a human, s/he does not have the authority and I'd have to call another department at a later time at the same number!

There is ALWAYS some essential, uncovered (vaguely described) "extra cost" that adds cost to the entire repair. (Of course, it was implied that if I declined the extra cost, I would not receive the promised warranty replacement.) For example, "extras" (++costs) were added "for connections" for the replacement hot water heater. After costing things out (the monthly premiums, "service request" deductable, "extra costs") and compairing the total of those with the total for a replacement, equivalent water heater (with installation and removal of the old unit) from Home Depot would cost less. In short, it is less costly to buy the Home Depot onit with installation and removal of the old unit.

On top of all this, I was left a lengthy period without hot water, and the contractor did not carry away the old unit -- just leaving it in my front yard.

Save money and do not waste it on this illusory "warranty" program.

We have been a customer for AHS for quite a few years. Now we can not believer there is such a big gap in communication between ahs and their service providers. We had a bathroom faucet and valve water leak on January 12,2023. Called and paid for the service fee $125 right away. The service provider plumber's inc came and said he will need to talk to ahs. After a few days still nothing, we called AHS, they said they will call service provider, then nothing ever heard. We called again and again, were always told they are waiting for service provider's response while our water leak was still going on. Finally after more than a month's waiting, I told them I do not feel any use to have their warranty service while all we could do is to wait and get a big water bill, they had to assigned another service provider, but marked their previous service as completed, that is a total lie, because the same water leak was never fixed. And now we are being told to wait again by this new service provider as they are saying they need to tell AHS so they can order the faucet. Another endless waiting as the leak has been going on for more than 2 months already. I have to wonder what's the use to have a home warranty with ahs?

The Tech was EXTREMELY professional and he was very thorough. He explained his repair and encouraged me to call if I had any problems with repair. Did his job, cleaned up after himself and completed job expediently. I have had AHS for more than 10 years and every service has proven to be great.

Worst Service
September 6, 2023

Called them for water leak and they assigned a contrator. I had to shut the valve and did not have water so had to stay in a hotel. After 36 hours the contractor comes home and concludes that he is not the right contratcor for the job and leaves in 5 min. I had to get the work done through an external contractor. I get charged $85 for the AHS contractors visit and they keep sending emails and text, the job is completed. Paying $65 every month and one service in a year and that too is not covered. Its just a scam having a warrenty with AHS.

Worst. Experience ever
October 13, 2020

Worst experience ever - I called to check if my water pressure regulator was covered and they said YES in the process they asked me where it was located and I told them on the outside wall of the garage - they scheduled a service call, but when the service man arrived he said it was not covered! I called AHS and they apologized, but that it was NOT covered, I complaint about them not telling me when I called - but too late I am being charged $100 service call for nothing. Then I looked at my contract in detail and in section e) number 4 under plumbing it specifically says that Pressure Regulators are covered! What a scam of a company!

Cancellation fee $60
September 22, 2020

I was debating whether to use AHS or stick with 2-10 home warranty. I signed up for AHS, and my sister, who uses AHS, had so many issues with AHS then once I compared 2-10 to AHS, I decided to stay with 2-10. It took two calls and three different repres to cancel, and I was charged a $60 cancellation fee. What a waste of money! I reviewed the contract with states an administrative fee - but does not state $60. Stay away from AHS.
