I recently purchased a Mongoose bike from Academy on 290/1960. 1st my rear wheel was not true, had to be repaired by Trek. 2nd, Both my paddles broke at the same time while on a ride. The bike was poorly assembled. 3rd, this is the 2nd bike, the 1st bike would not switch gears, good thing I tested it out before leaving the store. I've barely had the bike for month half.
About a month ago I was looking on line for any good ammo sales. Unfortunately I picked Academy Sports and Outdoors,what a mistake. They got me to apply for their credit card,which I got. Once I got it I went to their website and selected the ammo I wished to purchase,upon doing so I was told it was in stock and they charged it to my new credit card with them. I got my confirmation number and it was set up to arrive in 3 or 4 days. Well one day later I got a texted message followed by an email telling me that their out of stock and my order was canceled and the money would be put back in my account. After being disappointed, I went back to their website only to see the same ammo on sale ag again their,well that did it for me,can you imagine starting a relationship with a new client and being jacked around like this from another con game company in this day and age? Well I don't know about you,but I have better things to do with my time and money then to be jetted around by another flim flam company on the website so to quote a line from the movie Rainman Academy Sports sucks. This is just a warning to any other people who don't want to be made a sucker,bypass them and pick a real company that can stand by their word and deliver,don't waste your time with them only to be disappointed.
First let me say I have been waiting for the status of a firearm application and have heard one too many excuses, but I just called and someone impersonating a manager with a high pitched voice told me that I can take my business elsewhere and to contact the FBI... I sure will take my business elsewhere and hope everyone reading this does the same!
I went to place an online order of several hundred dollars, they offered a discount and free shipping on orders over 25.00 as I went to place order they did show the discount but were charging shipping. I contacted CS, the told me there are exceptions to the free shipping. "heavy and bulk" items are exempt. My Item was a 12 pound anchor. Really. I canceled the card never placed the order and am glad I found out there policies and responsiveness before being swindeled more
They suck bottom line if you can try to go elswhere they don't care about there customer and customer service is nothing but Indians that you can't understand and when you tell them to transfer you to someone higher up they never answer
Every time You run a sale. For some odd reason, you don't have what's on sale in the store, but will have something eles just like it for a higher price. That's not on sale. This is the last time. I will ever walk back into this store.
I ordered 2 separate firearms on line and was given a delivery date. The 2nd one I ordered came in way before the delivery date. The first one I ordered never came in. I ask customer service what was going on and got several conflicting issues. "Was being delivered that day, to it hasn't been shipped" and they don't have any timeframe when it would be delivered. The next thing I know I get an email saying the order was canceled. I called to see why. They said it was because they didn't know when it would be delivered. I checked the website and the gun was $140. More and was available.
I purchased two 2XL Columbia PFG shirt worth 40+ dollars. The shirt didn't fit my son, and the receipt went missing. So we went to exchange it the next day for the correctly sized shirt (I must stress we did not ask for a refund just to exchange the incorrect shirt with all of the
Tags and stickers still attached for the correct shirt) instead we were credited eighteen dollars for the correct shirts that we exchanged and were forced to pay the rest. It is also important to note that there is a fundamental problem with the manner in which the purchases are registered. An example of the problem is how absolutely none of the charges we made on a singular card were present in academy's system.To be perfectly clear we bought the shirts the day before on one card as a lump purchase. The employees we talked to were extremely rude and the manager was dismissive and disrespectful. We will not shop at Academy again because of the complete lack of respect we encountered.
I would never shop here again I place my order at 3/330 got hung on twice when I called about my order I had to get out of character in order to get my order after 8 at night the customer service in footwear was horrible and if they know delivery is not with in two hours of your order they need to remove it off of the website
The stores are clean, bright, and the staff is helpful. They could have more help around the store to help the customers. The prices are still too high on goods, although they do have a price match on the same item from another store. However, the customer has to find the item on-line to get the price match. We couldn't find it and did not get the price match on our item. The other store had the item at the lower price by 33% just not on the website. In the end the store did not honor the lower price. In this case the other store should get the business.
Tried to buy snow pants as Meyerland store said they had them on Westheimer and Hwy 6. Clerk in the department very nice lady searched all over. (I ride my bicycle when it is 14 degrees out and need these pants,) Oh well bought some new Khaki shorts the BCG are almost identical to the Magellan but are $5.00 more no one could explain. Cashier Byaly was very helpful told me about survey. Also bought a bike lamp I am charging now, he recommended credit card which I had but their service sucks they are an embarrassment to your company.
Sent me 2 left footed shoes. Got them on sale. They offered no comparable sale for a new item. I really don't like being treated as the person in the wrong when buying from a business.
I bought a Mudder MTC-100X game camera. The first time we checked it, it had moisture in it and has never worked again. I would not recommend these camera's. The customer service lady from Muddy said it was not covered by the warranty. Academy said since it had been 60 days that I couldn't return it. Won't be buying and more Muddy camera's! Would give it 0 if I could!
4 emails and no response as to where my order dated 11/22 is. I'm reordering through another company. I encourage everyone to read reviews. This company doesn't answer emails or calls. AVOID THEM!
I ordered a bbq pit for my husband for Father's Day. Never left GA. So disappointed. Never again will I on line order from Academy. People were nice but that doesn't make up for the gift that wasn't delivered. Should of gone into store, would of been faster. I finally after 2 weeks I got my money back. So wrong. They passed the blame on Fed Ex, Fed Ex passed the blame on Academy. Smh. Aweful experience.
Academy.com has the WORST selection of backpacks. The ONLY backpacks they only have available are the one over $40. If you're trying to purchase a backpack at a low price, "OUT OF STOCK" will, for sure, pop up

Horrible customer service. Bought a pool 5 days later it was on sale $200 off. Even though policy says within 14 days of purchase they will credit you the difference, they would not.
Apparently they cannot read the size on a tennis racket and some socks. Now I am left with give the wrong sizes on Christmas. The associate also let me know that it was not my fault. Well Thanks.!
I made a trip to the store this morning to pick up some trick worms that the website said we're in stock found them pulled 5 packs off the peg went to the reel counter found a reel that I wanted 2 employees were standing behind the counter about 20 feet from me I stood there for around 10 minutes both of looked directly at me numerous times never offered to help or even acknowledge that I was there so I sat the worms on the counter and walked out I was going to purchase a 200 dollar reel and some more items I have spent a lot of money with academy in the past but looks like tackle warehouse will get my business from here on
