I do not recommend purchasing AARP at all! This is the best possible way to waste your money! There aren't any benefits that I can use. I purchased 3 years. I just gave away my money to them for Nothing! You have to go to specific restaurants to get a 10% discount, which is nothing compared to the prices. On top of that I don't eat out at those places. The free gift is so cheaply made that it wasn't worth getting either! I won't ever renew any part of AARP company!

AARP promotes businesses. One business in particular is FTD. FTD is completely fraudulent. I contacted AARP to inform them of multiple issues with this company. They were not interested. They only wanted me to renew my membership. I paid money to FTD based on AARPs recommendation. I am sure many others have done the same. I have learned they are a business and their primary concern is their business, not their customers.

I was told by a friend that aarp had good low cost auto insurance through Hartford, but I had to be a member of aarp. I joined and got the insurance but after a couple years it doubled in price and my mail box was always full of ads from aarp trying to sell me more things. Finally i started checking prices and found the same coverage from state farm for less than half the price.
I cancelled my policy jan 15 2020 and they still took my auto payment out on the 18th after telling me they wouldn't be taking it out. Here it is march 20 and they're still telling me that they are returning my money (i'm still waiting). Their prices are only bait to get you to sign up with them then they just hope you don't notice the constant rate increases.
Aarp must be getting a good share of the profits to keep sending out all those ads for their partner companies.
Now that i am no longer using that auto insurance i am dropping aarp.

Nothing in return
January 19, 2021

I sing up for AARP. I pay for the whole year. Never received nothing. A magazine or a bag that they were going to send me. I lost all my money. I think they just get your money and thats it. I will never sing up with them.

Never received free item, had to call to get membership card mailed, keep getting emails to renew when my membership does not expire until October. Any discounts I get from hotels or restaurants (when they do accept the card) do not add up to the annual membership fee.

Digging thru all of the marketing is frustrating, but learning that almost all of AARP's political lobbying and support goes to Democrats. Not like that should matter, but they are spending membership money to support their own political interests. Will not be renewing the membership.

Over the last few years AARP has continued to send me information claiming that I expressed interest in joining them. I have never expressed interest in them. They keep telling me it will take a few weeks to stop the mailings. They have been telling me that for almost a year!
They're spending money to mail the information that I don't want!

I have a major complaint about the AARP roadside assistance. I paid for my tow and was to be reimbursed. My plan says under 100 miles. The tow was 40 miles. I paid $198 to the AARP rep on the phone. I was only reimbursed $120. I called and the person I spoke with said that is all I will get back. I am very disappointed in this service and have asked to cancel. I do not recommend this service at all.

I'm not 50
November 25, 2021

I got an email from aarp. I'm not 50. Do they have a sweepstakes? Did I win a sweepstake from aarp? Do I get like free dental and health when I'm 50? Was my name drawn from a hat or something like that? Was it a lottery? How do I cash it in?

Nothing but a spam factory
September 29, 2023

AARP is nothing but a spam factory and they sell your information to everyone. They are partnered with Salesforce, who collects all your data and sells it to all of their "partners". The amount of email, phone, and print spam I have received since joining outweighs any benefit AARP could possibly offer.

AARP you advertise and promote one of the worst companies you could have possibly picked. Their customer service is horrible and their money back guarantee is a sham. If this is the type of business you promote for seniors you should be ashamed

I was very happy to be a member until their political views opposed what I believe. I am no longer a member due to this. Who decides their views? I am a member of other groups old enough for AARP and this is the view of most members. AARP is losing many who liked being a part of this group by it's political views.

They mostly sell ads
January 18, 2024

They seem to focus on making money on ads, give money-saving tips to save pennies, and talk about fraud, but they never reply to my fraud/scam questions/requests.

Junk mail Galore
April 8, 2021

I've been swamped with junk mail from AARP since joining in November of 2020. At least one piece of junk mail a week. Junk Emails were even worse until I unsubscribed from everything involved with AARP... my friends all complain to me about the same thing. I and two friends have canceled our memberships! Enough is enough.

AARP just recently published an article about. Medicare part D drug plan that included information about the advantage plan. This was a perfect opertunity to warn seniors about the bad advice that many TV commercials are giving them about the Advantage Plan! It didn't happen. It even suggested that they look into this. Another disappointment from AARP!

Will not remove info
April 14, 2022

Sometime back someone gave them my personal info with an address i have not had in over 20 years.
Then in 2013 a person signed me up without my permission.
That was canceled and a no contact flag was set. They could not remove my info even though the person had no right to sign me up.
April 2022 I get a card that seems to be active.
They said they can not remove my info even though I never wanted to join AARP.
So now they are sending me what i will call spam.
Seems to me like they are more into collecting info to sell.

Scam
April 22, 2023

Read the reviews before you sign up for AARP. They are nothing but a scam. No different than Plan Parenthood. They support the leftist agenda. I talked to a representative about what AARP supports and she seemed oblivious as to what I told her why I wouldn't join a communist party
