DO NOT fly American
October 10, 2019

I purchased two round trip tickets to Paris, FR, through Kiwi. XL airways was the carrier of the flight I was to take back from Paris to new york, with a connecting American Airlines flight back to Charlotte. XL Airways was liquidated while I was in France, and Kiwi support notified me the day before my flight was supposed to take off. I was now unable to make my original flight date, but I was fortunate enough to receive a rescue fare to New York directly from Level Airways on the next day. However, it would no longer be possible to make my connecting flight from New York to Charlotte with American. American offered no support in either matter nor any refund for the flights that were missed because of this incident. Worse, I erroneously made a new purchase for the SAME FLIGHT that I originally had, thinking it was for the next day (when I would be in New York). Again, American offered no support or refund, despite the fact that they allowed me to double book myself on the same flight.

NEVER AGAIN
October 4, 2019

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

My girlfriend had a flight to San Diego but needed to get off at the connection in PHX. When she got to the gate, Ivana was very rude and forced her to check her 1 of 2 allowable carry-on bags. She would not even let me explain the situation and kept saying "you can check your bag or stay home". When we asked for information on the process to retrieve the bag she said "you'll have to figure it out."

If a representative from AA is reading this and cares about the public image of your company, I highly recommend forwarding this review to the leadership of the SJC airport branch for AA to investigate the performance of Ivana, the gate employee assigned to flight AA2105.

The customer service was super rude and unprofessional in general and throughout the flight. Never seen such a behavior in the service sector. When I forgot my ipad on the plane and noticed right away, the "customer service from AA" said it's not their issue and that it has to be done online. When I told them I can't open the online page (only that one didn't open) they said to try it when I'm back in Germany...
They accidently spilled water on the person next to me who was soaking wet sitting in air conditioning and they gently ignored the issue by saying: "it's just water".
When I complained because I had to check in my hand bag even though no one told me before that I had to, suddenly my seat number was changed 10 seats away from my friend.
These are just a few things that happened. Overall I would never fly with them again.

I will NEVER fly with American Airlines again, you have my lost my business for good. My flight was delayed then the last leg of flight canceled, they do nothing to accomodate or compensate the inconveniences. Customer Service is a joke, even the employees at the airport do nothing to help. They DO NOT care about you

American Airlines has charged my credit card TWICE for services that I never received.

(1) In early 2018, I was charged $96.12 to upgrade my mother's seat on a flight. However, on that flight, AA did not upgrade her seat. (2) Recently in July 2019, the same thing happened. I tried to upgrade my mother's and my economy seats on an international trip, a birthday gift to my dear mother. For some reason, they upgraded mine but not my mother's. It was a huge inconvenience for my 80 year-old mother and me to sit separately for the 5 hour flight (on the upside, they let my mother have the upgrade while I sat in economy). A couple weeks later, I happened to check my credit card account and saw that AA had assessed two charges of $200.20 each, even though they only upgraded my ticket and not my mother's. Grrrrr.

During the second incident, when I mentioned my fear of being overcharged based on my previous experience, the airport representative who helped check us in assured me that I would not be charged for the upgrade that was not allowed. Also, I was only given a receipt for one upgrade of $200.20.

Here are other annoying aspects of my experiences: First, on both occasions, I only discovered the inappropriate charges weeks later while checking my credit card statements (which I honestly don't do often but must try to from now on). If I had not discovered the charges, AA would probably not have reimbursed me! Second, AA did not have the courtesy to issue any apology whatsoever on either occasion for the overcharge!

AA's conduct is an unacceptable business practice and should be looked into. I don't consider my experiences to be isolated incidents. Once my points are used up, I will not fly with AA.

Weather delays, cancellations with no assistance with rebooking, cost more to book new flights, wasted food and beverage coupons, no concern with my safety or well-being by stranding me in the airport over night by myself, then more delays, missed flights, and total inconvenience of 14 hours and hundreds of dollars. Just in case you were wondering what American Airlines response to their terrible customer service on July 18 -19th. Please free the read and share. Be cautious when using them in the future ladies and gentlemen, they don't care about you. You are just another number.

I was scheduled to fly from Philly to Detroit on 6/28/2019 leaving at 3:15 pm and the flight was cancelled, and American lied to everyone why. First, were at the gate and the pilot announces there was 6,000 pounds too much fuel, and we needed to remove that excess fuel. That took a couple hours. We then head to the taxiway and sit for over an hour with no information from the pilot beyond we're waiting to learn where in line we were.

Next thing is pilot announces he's "timed out" for the day, so we have to return to the gate, which we did.

We deplane and they tell us new departure times for over an hour, saying they're looking for a new crew to fly the plane. Never once did anyone mention weather as an issue.

Next we hear the flight is cancelled, there's no other flights to Detroit that night, and now they claim it's cancelled due to weather, so they won't cover anyone's hotel expense. They will refund the price of the ticket, but they won't cover the cost of a ticket on a different airline to get to Detroit.

Ignoring the fact they never once mentioned weather as an issue, the Flightview.com website showed every other flight from Philly and other east coast cities heading to Detroit during the same period of time did NOT get cancelled or delayed due to weather.

IN OTHER WORDS, AMERICAN AIRLINES LIED TO ALL OF US!

Carry on
March 14, 2019

Don't try to bring a carry on unless it's really small... they don't allow standard carry on baggage to be "carried on"... I will not be flying with them again.

Very good
January 30, 2019

It's so easy to book the tickets on this site. The confirmation comes really quickly too. I've been flying with this particular airline for the past 10 years and the only big disadvantage is that the ticket prices went up recently.

Not really

I took a trip to New York a couple of years ago and the flight was awful and full of dread. The seats were tight, dirty, and funky. I would not recommend this airline to anyone.

NEVER AGAIN!
May 28, 2018

Worse airline experience EVER. I paid for flight arrangement three months in advance. Scheduled to return home on 1\1\18. Flight to leave JFK at 1:07. I received an email that morning that my flight would be delayed til 1:45 (still have email). I arrived at JFK at 11:45 and like many others, no assistance with kioss. Folk standing talking to one another... UNWILLING to assist. Long story short... 3 flights left that day... No apologies, no offer of accommodation... Spent the night in JFK. I WAS SO HURT! To this day there's been no apology no offer of refund... NOTHING! They treated me like DIRT! They won't ever get that opportunity again. WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!

I refuse to use American Airlines ever again after what ordeal I had to go through. I had booked a trip on Expedia to go to Aruba for my honeymoon in September 18'. We were never informed when we booked our trip that Aruba was infected with Zika virus. We are trying to get pregnant and are no longer able to travel to this country. We spoke with Expedia, who at first mentioned that we needed to speak with American Airlines because they were going to charge us $200 per person as a cancellation fee for the flights. I called AA and they told me that everything has to go through Expedia. They have nothing to do with that $200 charge. Long story short, I went through Expedia, they promised me that all I needed to do was send in a doctors note, which I did, and I just received an email today stating that our request was denied. I am tired of being lied to and clearly $400 is worth losing a customer forever for American Airlines. And don't worry, I will be sure to let all of my friends know and ensure no one else books flights with them again.

Bad customer service
March 27, 2018

Flight 4215 from Pittsburgh to Raleigh, North Carolina on September 1st 2016 was a connecting flight where I had a 3 hour layover to follow. Due to the fact that the aircraft had to circle the airport more than once before landing, we had to divert to Virginia in order to receive more gas. We waited in Virginia for an hour and a half until we received gas and then once we flew back to North Carolina, we waited another hour on the runway because it was backed up and their was no room for our plane. This resulted in my friend and I missing our international flight to Rome. Once we deplaned, not a single worker addressed our problem with concern. As two students flying alone internationally, no one felt the need to address our problem with concern. The women working to redirect our flights was very rude scheduled us for 3 more flights the following day. This in turn forced us to pay for a hotel and miss the first day of our international classes. American Airlines did nothing in response to solve this problem and overall was the worst flying experience. Every time I have dealt with their customer service, nothing is properly handled and this is why I will no longer chose American Airlines.

My Standard
March 2, 2018

I usually fly AA. But their luggage fees and their heirarchy of boarding really irks me as I've been pretty loyal to them for over 20 years but my travel slowed down so now my status is low. I made the mistake of using CheapAir for a family vacation and will never stray from AA again.

Best US airline by far!
January 29, 2018

I am a million miler on American, and I can't say enough about their customer service. They are so far ahead of Delta and United (both of which I despise!) that there is no contest when it comes to who is the best airline. I have had many, many instances where AA went above and beyond in helping me with problems, and if they make a mistake, they actually try to do the right thing and fix it! Wow, what a concept! I will never fly Delta or United if I can possibly help it. Thanks American, you folks rock!
