This is an amazing free service, with a beautiful, helpful and supportive community for mental health needs.

I love this site. It is so comprehensive of peoples feelings. The listeners are almost always helpful.

They are good and nice and i recomend talking to them they can help with almost every mental stress you have.

This site could be fantastic.
Its however run by complete morons. If u dare to dissagree u are banned for no other reason other then having your own opinion.
I was a listener as a member but found it very differcult to put up with the constant abuse by the members who use the site and by the other listeners who are suposed to be support you.
When u join ur given a quick brief questionaire on How to be a good listener then asked questions however this is dumb because if the colour goes red you have the choice to pick again until u get it right.
Listeners are contant getting abused by members and there is no actual support set up to deal with this situation. Chat supporters and members are just volunteers and seldom available and when they are available the only advice u recieve is oh well just screenshot and send to admin. This dosnt work either because by then theyve created another account and started abusing someone else.
This happends everyday sometimes more then twice. Its so frustrating when all u want to do is help support some in need but ur not given safe options to get out of it when it turns to $#*!.
All they care about is the money and the members.

My personal experience after using the site during the last couple of weeks has been very positive. (I will detail that below.) However, I was struck by how it seems that everything is built on the labor of untrained, anonymous volunteers - and the potential for abuse built into that model. As many of the negative reviews here outline, the site seems plagued by a profit model that prioritizes engagement over safety. If this were a site about another topic, it wouldn't be such a concern. But it renders its users, those struggling with difficult emotional situations and mental health issues, extremely vulnerable to predation or dangerous interference when they open up about their problems.

I'm lucky that I am an adult with an understanding of what to watch out for and how such websites work. If I were younger, more naive or vulnerable, I see how I could easily get into a damaging situation through 7cups.

All that said - I have found the resources there to be extremely helpful for me. The first listener I was paired with has been kind and compassionate and given me some tools to cope with a difficult emotional situation. She and I have been communicating regularly and it's help my healing process. I have also found it uplifting to be a part of group chats where I can show the same compassion with others. There are many kind and good people volunteering their time there to help others.

Nevertheless, it is pretty clear that the site exists to extract data from vulnerable people and push them to use the for-profit text therapy on offer. The blurring of the profit driven side with the community building side strikes me as unethical. Also, the heartfelt negative reviews from others here confirms my worst suspicions about the motivations and outlooks of the site owners/administrators.

Overall, I think you can benefit from using the site, but approach it with caution. I hope that that they take the advice of the long term volunteers and but safeguards in place.

I love that the Cup has come to us as a hope and a way to live in which many experience and experienced people come together to help and understand them and to live them. And all of us who work like a listener, which gives a good feeling to all the people and they fill the lack of a partner, this is a very good work, in a way God's blessings. Thanks so much to 7 cup and all team(include listeners and therepist) it's really helpful for everyone.

After being a listener on this site for over a year I found this site to be simply filled with arrogant, destructive, self absorbed members - and ADMIN who judge, harrass, condemn and attempt to "chastise" listneners with absurd childish emails aimed at alleged improving "lack of empathy' from reported listeners- as the members are their due to some emotional distress, or mental challenges or sexual abuse or suicide- - take your pick- these members if NOT 100% happy with the listener then report them! Entirely without due or valid insight as they are themselves NOT in a postivei state to accurately form ANY opinion about a faceless non entity that simply punches messages into a keyboard in order to assist in some way those who are seemingly distressed. I found this site FILLED to overflowing with narcissistic, cruel, judgemental, self absorbed members who have NO idea of what it means to truly make the effort to IMPROVE them lives- instead much preferring to stay in their ego based victim mentality of "why me"?/ for those who seek TRUE and authentic and KIND interactions with people - do NOT visit this site- it is NOT safe, ADMIN does NOT provide a safe space for either members OR listeners - Do NOT waste your time with this cruel, judgemental, utterly narcissistic self absorbed site which does NOT people in any way- it simply keeps people in a perpetual powerless, and victimhood state of mind.
