I was having a problem with my garage door not closing properly. I contacted select home warranty and relayed my problem to them. The next day i received a service call from King Garage Doors from Bartlett Illinois, advising me they would be at my home later in the day. They kept me updated as to when service tec would be at my home. The problem with my door was taken care of. I'm very happy with the service from King Garage and Select Home Warranty.

DO NOT sign up with them! Purchase home warranty back in September of 2023 based on an advertisement I received in the mail they claiming that they provide Free roof leak coverage! When I wanted to use them this winter for my roof leak, they denied it. So far I had 3 different issues that they denied all of them. Horrible company and Big Scam! They charged me $75 to cancel my membership?! They are ripping of people! All their agents are located outside US!

Purchased a SELECT home warranty in Aug 2023. Filed my first claim online Jan 2024 fof my High End GE Monogram Microwave. Select sent me an email declining my claim because of the age of the appliance. They offered $95 towards the purchase of a new Microwave. In the contract under FAQ: " The age of a home or its systems and appliances does not matter to SELECT". AVOID SELECT. ALL AGENTS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS IN INDIA.

I purchase a home repair warranty from Select Home Warranty October 2023. Monthly payment $39. December 20,2023, initially low water pressure in downstairs shower. Then no water at all from downstairs shower. I filed a claim because I was covered for "plumbing systems". Claim denied. Then agent tried to sell me another warranty that would cover the "optional" items, like repair of the shower. When is a shower not a part of a plumbling system? This company is a rip off.

This is my first year with Select home warranty company and requested three repairs. They declined all three. Counter top microwave (expensive one), cooling issue in summer and now heating isdue. Every time, we had to pay $100 as up front tech fee/visit fee as per contract, but they declined repair each time on the grounds that you don't have three year service records. All this process took each time 2-4 weeks for getting a NO answer. This company is a scam. They have 11 five star reviews on their website, probably all by themselves. Please do not waste your time and money with this company.

This is my second year with select home warranty. Even though I have never filed a claim. So far their customer service is very great. If I get a chance to have to file a claim I'll write a review on the service given.

I had a great experience with my sales rep UNTIL I paid for my policy then nothing but the run around and ignoring me. TONY G promised me things that he has yet to deliver, and when I reached out to him, crickets. Now I have called the company for clarification and for my issue to be fixed, and I am on hold for 47 mins with no resolution and nothing being done to help me. I even have screen shots and emails to back me up. All my items I wanted on the policy are not on there, even though he charged me extra for them. No need to follow up with me, I asked to cancel, they said they would look into it. DONT USE THEM, ITS A SCAM AND A LIE.

When purchasing my warranty, the sales representative assured me that Select Home Warrant does not employ foreign call centers. Unfortunately, that was a massive lie, as the only English-speaking, United States-based assets of Select Home Warranty is the sales team, every other facet of their organization is outsourced to the Philippines. I filed a claim for a faulty water heater, citing a puddle of water under the unit, the pilot light being out, and the smell of gas in my furnace room. The person I spoke to authorized me to contact my own service provider. Two minutes after concluding the call, I received a message that the claim was denied as they do not cover leaks. I called back and spoke to a horrendous call center representative who did nothing but repeat the content of the e-mail over and over. I asked how they can make a determination when there is no diagnosis from a service professional. I asked over 15 times to speak to a supervisor, and this person repeatedly told me he would not connect me to a supervisor and was the top person in his department. He also informed me that only their sales team is based in the United States. Select Home Warranty will obviously do anything to avoid paying a claim and can magically diagnose an issue without a service professional's diagnosis.

Buyer beware!. Read the fine print! Don't believe the front page story that they will repair or replace your appliances. They are weasel words redefined in the fine print not to mean what a plane reading would be.
For example, here is what they did for us. We have a 10 year old Built-in Combo Oven and Microwave. It gave an error message indicating the keypad had a short, which could be caused by one of two boards. They said it was irreparable--and example of Select Home Warranty weasel words. Walmart and several appliance parts we called had the parts, so in fact, opposite of what they claimed, it was clearly repairable.
SelectHomeWarranty told us the unit was worth $95. BEWARE BEWARE The fine print says THEY ALONE determine the VALUE of an appliance AT ANY TIME. There is ZERO DISCUSSION, ZERO ARBITRATION, ZERO BASIS.
Appliance parts dealers don't stock and sell parts that nobody buys. If the unit was truly only worth $95, all these dealers and Walmart would not be selling these parts. Go to Craig's list or eBay and try to buy a similar unit--95$ is ludicrous! And why is our repairable appliance "irreparable"? Because you can't repair if within a $95 budget!
Next, they will not send you the $95 so you can get moving on whatever you want to do. Definitely don't plan on being a DIY person who would just get the board from Walmart and install it. No, they will give you the $95 only after you send them an invoice proving you bought a new unit and and had it installed.
Oh! You thought Select Home Warranty would pay for a technician to make the repair - after a $60 per/call fee. Isn't that what you read. Oh, no, no, no. If the appliance is deemed irreparable, that is all out the window. After arguing with them, they said they would reimburse us $95 if we sent them an invoice where we got OUR OWN technician to do the repair.
So we pay $2000+ for a "warranty" that will only pay what they happen to feel like paying, and then, only if we do all the work to get the appliance repaired, paying commercial (non warrantee) rates to an appliance repair company, and then send Select Home Warranty the invoice. In my book, THAT IS NOT A WARRANTY! IT IS A SCAM! A SCAM PERPETRATED BY FINE PRINT THAT NULLIFIES THE EXACT PROMISES CLAIMED IN THE ADVERTISING AND ON THE FRONT PAGES OF THEIR "WARRANTY".

We bought a platinum VIP policy. Our built-in $4900 Kitchen Aid oven/microwave quit working. Less than 10yo and they told us it had depreciated and they would cover $95 of the replacement cost. The company does NOT protect you from unexpected expenses like they advertise. Many many others with similar experiences. They are a scam and should be shut down. STAY AWAY!

In january they sent out a contractor at 10:00 at night in a car full of kids to examine my bathroom leek. The man took my $75 and never came back so now waiting almost a year and getting a run around i cancelled my policy and they charged me another $75. Now $150 later and numerous monthly permiums spent still do not have this fixed. They are the biggest rip offs out there. Did i mention im a disabled scenior on Social security. Shame on them

Awful customer service. They will hang up on you when you ask for a manager. They don't want to pay to replace your item. They give you the lowest amount possible. Don't do business with them go to Cinch. I made the mistake of switching companies and I regret it big time.

Look at the Better Business Bureau. Over 3400 complaints filed. I talked to our State Attorney General's office and was told they get complaints DAILY. Technicians never show up, return phone calls or answer text messages. I had four appointments for four hours each and all no show. Same two companies were used to get appointments who have no online presence and out of state phone numbers. SCAM

The customer service has been good, problem is they dispatched a technician and after sending back the dates that would work, we heard nothing. Looked up their contact number on google and the companies (technicians) voicemail went to a persons name, not a business and no return call. Waited a week and still nothing. Called Select Warranty, they tried and got no answer as well, so now we wait for them to locate another company up to 48 more hours. It has been a week today.

Run away & Avoid this company like the plague. Used the service just once & was declined, even after having a three way concall with the service tech that performed the diagnostic who they hired and who verbally explained the Select home warranty that the compressor failure was due to a mechanical pump failure which is completely covered under the home service plan policy. Select home warranty denied the claim based on some policy document paragraph they were referring that this was an electrical failure (which it was not) & hence they would not pay A complete sham & totally dishonest. I asked for a refund since I paid for the next year in advance. Took forever to get my check back & dealing with the incompetent customer service was a complete nightmare.

So far they are better than American Home Shield (which was THE worst!). I have only had to use them once and had to put that on hold because of COVID so the jury is still out as to if they are a good company or not. The service reps are usually polite though the last one was a bit of a fast talker. He did give me a good deal on a renewal, so I can't complain about that. Overall, I'm happy so far, but with reservations.

I started the policy on November 23,2023. The sale agent
Is a liar, who told me that the policy start after 30 days and I
Can cancel in the middle of the year without cancellation
Fee. After 32 days, my fridge had a problem, so I submit a
Claim. Then the agent told me that there is a fine print, If I
Pay by credit card, the waiting period is the 35 days instead
Of 30 days (which is Dec. 28,2023). Then I decided to
Cancel the policy on Dec 27,2023, the agent told me there
Is a $75 cancellation fee. It is totally ridiculous that they
Charge the cancellation fee for a policy that never started
And I never used. And they refused to refund the two
Monthly charge ($42*2 = $84). So they just scam customers
To pay $159 for a policy that never take effect for even 1 day!

Stay away, save your money and your home from them. The technicians that Select sends are third party companies and they hardly care about customer safety. They just do basic check marks and leave ASAP collecting their visiting FEE.

Last year in 2023, I had our HVAC circuit breaker trip off on multiple occasions leaving us with non-functional HVAC units. So I called Select Home Warranty, two times for HVAC and one time for their electrical technician to ensure the system is NOT malfunctional as this was happening and they could NOT figure out what's going on. Select customer support personnel were NOT ready to accept that this is the same issue and that their technicians need to perform a thorough diagnosis. Each time Select sent their so called "Licenced" technicians who just did reset the circuit breakers and would say that the system is fine. On Jan 14th, 2024 due to their negligence I had a fire incident at my home and had to call 911.

Select customer support is so SHAMEFUL that after the fire incident that took place in our home they are now NOT responsive and NOT sharing any details from the previous visits. Their customer support manager was supposed to call us within 3 hours on Jan 14th, and it has been more than 2 weeks now we haven't heard back.

SHAMEFUL, DISGRACEFUL. Would NEVER recommend this SHAMEFUL company to anyone. PERIOD.

Bruce was very easy to work with. I came out of this experience very happy and conformable with the promised coverage. If I had to stretch and give a negative, it was being put on hold for a moment by Bruce. I was busy at work trying to knock out the sign up quickly. Other than that. Very smooth. All the coupons and deductions are great, but kind of corny and obvious that those offers and specials are customary. Nonetheless, seems to be a great package. I was very relieved and satisfied in the fact that I wanted to do 5 years, but can't afford it now, but Bruce worked with me and got me a 3 year deal for the same price, essentially.

I advise every single homeowner not to sign up with this company it's just a scam. Trust me on this they took your money when you need them. You lucky if they send someone after one week or 10 days or maybe two weeks or three weeks this is what happened with me with my heating system and if they do send someone no experience at all, and no matter what you have to pay the hundred dollars
I will not stop writing warning people about this company for the worst experience having to me in the last month so please do not sign with this company you are just wasting your money two years $50 a month went to the drain so don't waste your money

They are hard sellers but Select Home Warranty runs you in circles, delays, and delays for claims over $200. They sent out their own contractor who submitted the claim and Select Home Warranty kept telling them they would respond in 24 to 48 hours. They never responded to their own contractor. I ended up having to pay the contractor and never got reimbursed.

No contractors will do work for this company. If you pay for the work out of pocket it is difficult to receive reimbursement. SHW does everything possible to not reimburse. There are also low reimbursement amounts that are not advertised, but are in the small print. Not worth the money.

BEWARE! Please don't trust SHW. They hardly cover anything. We have a leak in the master bathroom, they sent a technician. The technician was from Happy Plumbing. The technician spent 5 minutes literally to assess the damage and said that he will send the report to warranty company. He came back in 20 minutes and said that the warranty company will not cover the damage. He then said that if I decided to get the damage fixed it would cost be $185 to replace the drain cork. If it didn't fix the problem, then he would have to cut the wall and check. I asked him if he could explain, what the problem was and where exacttly the leak was so he said, he was not sure what exactly the pproblem was. He took $70 for nothing. Select home will never give you details of what is covered and what is not. On a call, they will tell you that there are no exclusions, they will cover everything and we just have to pay $65 service fees. Since I was really disappointed by their service, I requested to cancel my account. The representative (Joseph) kept blabbering about why Select is better than the rest. For 10 minutes I kept requesting him to cancel but he would not listen, he was still trying to convince me to stay with them but eventually when he realized that it was not going to work, then he said that if I discontinue the service, they would charge me $75. These guys are scammers! Karma is going to get them. They play with people's hard earned money.
