The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

Sue Fadden and team did a fabulous job. Well prepared, excellent advertising to attract potential customers. Kept us informed all through the process. A seamless estate sale that exceed our expectations.
My travel agent still trying to get my money back! Price guaging tours, hotels, transfers... by DOUBLE!
It is great to have Le Mouton Rouge Knittery come to Bloomington. The Knittery is loaded with lots of wonderful yarns. Kelly has something for everyone. The selection of yarns and needles is great, plus samples galore to give one ideas of what can be done with sticks and yarn. Classes are offered, a knit a long is getting ready to start, PLUS, knitters can come in to knit, visit and solve the world's problems around a big table. Lots of yarn, friendly place to come to, and laughter, what more could a knitter want?
I see a lot of bad reviews here for this site, but I don't really understand why. I've been a member of Yelp since 2014. I've given good reviews, bad reviews, and out-of-state reviews, and none of them have ever been hidden or deleted no matter if they were one star, five stars, or had 6 upvotes. I really like being a member and contributing my reviews to the site. Sometimes I even go to a restaurant excited to take pictures of the food, and thinking about what my review will say during my time there.
You people have to realize that there's content guidelines as well as filters on the site to protect it from "drive-by" reviews. People take advantage of sites like this, signing up to make one bad review of a place where an ex they hate works or to make one good review of the place their husband works, and sometimes making multiple accounts to do it. Explanations from the site on why and how they filter reviews is very vague, because a full-on explanation could reveal to people how to get past it and post fake reviews. By simple logic, however; it makes sense that the reviews of newbies to the site are filtered because they haven't made themselves known to the community yet and perhaps only have one review up. So keep those things in mind before giving the place a bad review.
There are 7 total reviews of my husbands sole proprietor appliance business on YELP, but only 2 show up. There are 5 hidden ones that are all 5 star reviews that are real customer reviews. My husband has the invoices to prove they were real customers. This is frustrating and misleading because if somebody has all 5 star reviews, then YELP thinks they are fake. My husband works his a. Off to make sure every customer happy because of the whole internet review scare. I came to this site because we are trying to decide if we should pay for YELP ad, but now I'm scared what they will do if we say no. I don't trust this company!
One of our customers placed a positive review and of course yelp filtered it as not recommended. But for $300 a month it will suddenly show up. Yelp has scammed so many friends of ours who own small businesses.
Most of the reviews I see here are for other businesses, not Yelp.
About Yelp, I posted a negative review which got hidden; the name of the corporation was shortened. And the corporation, which had been operating for years, no longer existed as far as Yelp was concerned. I reposted it.
I felt like Yelp kept my review up because it was honest. The corporation really should have posted something positive.
I can only say what I suspect, and that is that the corporation asked for my review to be removed, and that Yelp accommodated them only so far as to sort of hide it. I was both annoyed that the review was moved and glad that the review was not taken down.
Placed an order. Merchandise(adult shirts) were unacceptable. Sent me kid size shirts. Now to get a refund has been a nightmare. Turns out the company is in China, but that was not advertised or I would have never placed the order. First time buyer for paypal. Never again. All I want is a refund. But they want me to ship it back and I have to pay s&h charges. Not right since its their mistake. I already paid the shipping the first time. Warning clothes made in china is made for their body type not American body types. We have a larger frame. Now I have to go to the credit card co. I will send back as long as I have postage pd label.
If you had a friend that told you the truth half the time, would you allow him or her to remain your friend? That is essentially what yelp does, except they hide most of the negative comments down low on the page under "unrecommended reviews". I never noticed until I went back to check out a business that I dealt with and did me dirty. Sure enough, there were some reviews there that could have saved me a lot of grief, but they were buried. Is this the kind of world the internet is helping us to create? We rely on companies that we know lie to us, so we can pretend to be well informed and judicious people. Let's stop the deceit.
I had an appointment to put my very very sick dog to sleep. They kept me waiting 25 minutes where healthy dogs kept coming up to him, jumping on him, smelling him, upsetting him. I finally started crying & begged them to put us in a room. Then the vet tech, Carrie called him a she, when I said he is a boy she said EXCUSE me & left the room. The vet was gentle, Dr. Martin, but afterwards he said that's it. I was taking Shelby home so I asked for something to put around him. They brought me a garbage bag. Then they gave me the bill right then & there. I put 2 other pets to sleep at a different place & they immediately put me in a room & sent me the bill. My dogs are small & the other place wrapped him in a blanket & placed him gently in a little box. My heart was already broken but after leaving Mid Way vet it was crushed to pieces.
I have small carpet business, I join Yelp in oct 2015. My budget was $475 month, first my bill was $215 they show me 24 clicks, second month was 29clicks for $253 but my third was 19 clicks for &500 when i ask whay my bill is double they Yelp told me it was so busy month and lot of competicion in my industry this the reason of my bill is $500. I told them i will cancel service so my last bill i have 16clicks $560 and same reason no any support statments or documets no any math explanation noting, there is no sense to any monthly bill.Be very careful with this people YELP they will send you any bill with they favorite number so you have to pay, they will SCAM you without any explanation
Yelp is kind of annoying, it's only for local businesses and services. I would like to see the reviews for large businesses, like all the reviews for Shopko optical from all over the country. Not just my city!
I initiated a refi July 2 and it was completed December 12,2015
This should have been a very simple transaction. I got an original ARM in 2013 and wanted to take advantage of lower interest rates. My wife and I have credit scores of 800, no other mortgages or collections, income significantly above 2013, and rental property with significant cash flow.
We were not asking to take any cash out, just a lower interest rate. The loan originator and processor were great and really tried to help. The problem seemed to be with an underwriteing dept that wanted significantly more data than the 2013 mortgage company
The most frustrating point was that I would send them data and receive confirmation, the data would get scanned into the "system" and then it could not be found and i'd be asked to resubmit
I finally involved Management, including the President, and would get good words but no action nor followup. So, aside from the frustration I lost the lower rate benefit for several months
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH Amerisave Mortgage
I signed up for three months, after that they automatically renewed my membership for a whole year at a cost of $ 215.88. And they said their is nothing I can do about it. Will see about that match.com
I had a Yelp employee come into my store, Jack Rasmussen 'Luthier', when we were very busy. In between customers I kept asking if she needed any help. She waited patiently and said she was just here to talk to us. She had a notebook in her hand, so I asked her if she was selling something and told her there was a clearly posted "no soliciting" sign on the door. She told me she was not selling anything, but kept insisting on talking to us. It became very clear that she was selling something and we reminded her again that "no soliciting" was clearly posted. She wrote a bad review on our company and I just want to clarify to Yelp to stop lying and saying that you are not selling anything. You are selling a service: reviews. Next time you see a sign that reads "Absolutely No Solicitation", that means no solicitation. We have real customers we are trying to help. Please stop wasting our time and read the sign because after all, it is a law. No solicitation and you soliciting means you have broken the law. I give Yelp zero stars. I would never use their services, or trust what they say because my review was not by my customers, but a Yelp employee. Next time you walk into a business door that said "Absolutely No Solicitation" please pay attention to the sign and respect the rights of other business owners.

I do use this site, especially for restaurant reviews, but some of them seem overly critical, and some of them seem to be from the owners or shills.
I was looking for a sectional and checked out all the local furniture stores. Many of the salespeople were sleezy, or would not leave us alone. At expressions it was just the opposite: they were friendly and helpful. It was delivered when they said it would. We also saved about $350 from the quote of the same item at another store.
Yelp refused to post reviews written by our customers. These were valid reviews from customers we have been doing business for years. I even offered to fax original contracts showing these are customers we have had for a long period of time. The only reason they posted reviews on Yelp is that when our company moved, all our 5 star reviews were cancelled and we were told to have them re-post on Yelp instead of Yahoo because they would automatically go to Yahoo as well. I have never posted a negative review on anyone before, but it is hard to believe they will not post valid reviews. This is very disappointing to a company who has always tried to offer the best of service to all its clients.
Unfair analyzation... yelp claims their automated app filters out people who are not regular Yelpers in most cases, complainers review faster than satisfied customers. Yelp is running peoples businesses by not putting the full story on the front page. There are many good reviews by people who are not regular complainers hidden behind the little button that says unrecommended reviews... a button that most people cannot find so unfortunately most of the reviews that are seen first are those of unhappy people or people looking for a refund from their purchase. Yelp is ruining people's businesses
This site is for you to review Yelp as a Web site, not for you to leave a review about a local business.
If you want to review a local business, go to www.yelp.com.
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
