The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

Yelp has been and continues to be a sad disgusting ad media site for small business. For a small business it is lethal at best. I signed up when I opened my shop. I started to get reviews from customers. But, yelp put those in the "not recommended" listing. I was given a excuse it was an algorithm issue with the website software. And there was nothing they could do or more importantly would do - that is the real problem. Any money they collect is all profit as they DO NOT put any effort into fixing problems. And to top it off they have the balls to try and make you think they are doing you a favor by being diligent about getting only the best reviews and information on your page! For my business I had a few reviews which were accepted. One was what would be expected the other was total nonsense. And when I raised it with them, I got the party line of "algorithm" excuse. Don't waste your time or money with this company. One more thing: once they have you in their system it is impossible to get it removed. They keep it there for marketing reasons. Nevermind your needs or decisions!
I purchased a goggle play card at Duane Reade store on Water St in manhattan. Cost was $200. When I went home, I scratched the code. I copied it and forwarded the code to my friend. A few minutes later, my friend texted me that card denied and he tried twice. I tried it but it said redeemed to a different account already. My friend then tried and received the same message. The card was damaged, and appears to have technical issue and we couldn't use it. I tried reaching Goggle but no live person. I emailed them the problem. I then called Duane Reade Walgreens corporate office and reported the problem. The corporate office responded that the card was redeemed and it isn't their problem. As a customer, I was charged $200 for a damaged/invalid play card. Consumers need to be careful because Duane Reade expects customers to pay for an item that is damaged. They did not reflect any concern that their other play cards may be damaged too. They don't care about their customers. They will cheat you as they did to me. How can anyone trust buying anything at Duane Reade Walgreens when their products may be damaged and there is no exchange.
A representative called me last week and stated they were going to give me 300 dollar credit for me to try out their service in one month. One week later I see a charge on my account for 156.87. Bad business, this was not what they told me. Now I am down 156.87 with no clients from Yelp.
This has been the worst experience, they lied about cost and overcharged me and won't give me my money back. I got ZERO calls from spending a lot of money. DO NOT BUY THESE ADS WITH YELP!
I reviewed a local counselor. My one star review of her stayed up for a solid year. It was an honest review. A truthful review. I was a client of hers for 8 months. After my review became not recommended I read Yelps guidelines again, I didn't do anything wrong and Yelp makes the claim to remember businesses can't pay to have a review removed. When your review becomes not recommended it's effectively removed and the rating of the business goes up. If you scroll clear to the bottom there is a section of reviews not recommended but no one is going to read them. Using Yelp is pointless. There are real, legitimate reviews being hidden. Yelp doesn't even notify you what they are doing. I closed my account because I was really disappointed. After a year they remove my review? Yelp is shady and I believe they have a hidden agenda.
Yelp for business is an absolute joke! They pretty much rob you of money, and if you try to close your account they will rob you even more. Trying to get ahold of any kind of customer service is nearly impossible. I will from now on let everyone I know, know how horrible yelp is. Do not ever spend any money on yelp at all ever!
I'm so sick and tired of review sites like Yelp! Picking and choosing their published reviews, somehow leaving out certain reviews for select companies. How does this continue to happen?
I'm not sure if Yelp does this but I'm ready to find out. I've had countless reviews removed or spoofed by Yelp, so I stopped reading their FAKE reviews. I'm so interested in learning more about Yelp's current legal troubles for FAKE reviews.
Does anyone else have interest in helping start up a class action lawsuit against review sites that accept payment in return for the removal of real reviews? No not those sickening sweet FAKE reviews very unethical dental companies plant online to counteract the thousands of new reviews posted each year.
Find me on Facebook under the real ADMI or Aspen Dental Mass Invasion. Yes, also seeking an attorney to help expose Yelp and other fake review sites.
I would give yelp a negative five-star rating if I could. It's a click scam with no tracking for ad clicks. It's almost impossible to reach customer service to fix issues or make changes. Account rep will not answer my phone call or return call. I have had no calls, appointment or return on investment of any kind. I am a small business starting out and have a tight budget. Every penny counts with our current economy in such flux. Stick to the free part of Yelp. Do not pay for any advertising because the return will not be there.
YELP IS A HUGE SCAM AND IS PREDATORY ON SMALL BUSINESS'.
SKYLER WAS NOT HELPFUL IN RESOLVING ANY ISSUE, IT WASN'T EVEN TAKEN SERIOUSLY OR EVEN UNDERSTOOD BUT AFTER REPEATING MYSELF 14 TIMES I WAS DONE.
AFTER REVIEWING OTHER BUSINESS REVIEWS OF YELP IT IS CLEAR THAT YELP IS NOT ONLY A DETRIMENT TO BUSINESS' BUT IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THEM WITH MISLEADING AND FALSE INFORMATION ON PROMOTIONS WITH SECRET UPCHARGES AND FEES NOT EVER DISCUSSED.
I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND YELP TO MY WORST ENEMY.
SKYLER WAS NOT ONLY RUDE BUT EXHIBITED ABHORRENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. HER COMMUNICATION SKILLS WITH OUR BUSINESS WERE APPALLING AND SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL.
HER OFFER TO REIMBURSE $6 WAS A SLAP IN THE FACE AND CRINGE WORTHY TO HEAR HER EVEN OFFER THAT AS A REASONABLE SOLUTION.
IF THIS IS EVEN READ AND I HOPE IT DOES GET READ, STOP HARASSING/ MANIPULATING/ TAKING ADVANTAGE OF BUSINESSES!
YELP -100/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.
Protects communist zionist businesses. Do not trust their reviews since they are all manipulated by libtard mentally ill communists.
First I signed on and paid a daily rate to promote my business. There were quite a few inquiries but quite a few fraudulent ones as well (alleged customers looking to trap me into other scams via email and false deposits, along with time spent traveling to fake estimates).
When I went to stop my add campaign, Yelp offered me a $100 credit so I continued to try it out. They billed me anyway for the next two week period. I inquired on the Yelp platform - no response. I was going to circle back around and try an upgraded package but saw the lack of integrity and changed my mind when I saw they are untrustworthy and play games with businesses.
Next, my positive reviews were removed by Yelp, leaving me with 0 reviews and no inquiries from potential customers since. I sent them an inquiry about this as well - no response. (My research on their site alludes to their software doing this through their algorithms however, the reviews weren't removed prior to the above, for several months). While my few reviewers did not have much of a history on Yelp, they were legitimate and I had to work hard to get them.
In the end, if you don't pay them as they deem fit, they can hurt your business and steal your money along the way. Go elsewhere for marketing integrity! I do have supporting docs for cancelation and billing from Yelp.
Yelps advertising product is, by design, created to bilk you out of your money without having to be accountable for producing quality leads. Don't use this company. It will drive up your costs so that you cannot be competitive or profitable.
While trying to improve my online presence, I decided to give Yelp a try. Had been having difficulty getting quality B2B leads. They said 100% that they would get business leads rather than consumer leads. Just lies. There are no B2B leads that can be generated through their approach. Disappointing sales tactics.
CPC is incredibly high and no disclosure about average CPC. Received leads specifically for products I did not want to be targeted for... very disappointing.
Do not use Yelp! Not for anything. Yelp will screw you. They won't cancel your account until you file a complaint, 3 months in a row we canceled, 3 months in a row they charged us.
Save yourself the pain!
They steal your money and lie to you. They promise one thing and never deliver and steal your money. Never sign up for their service. They will take advantage of you. They e
Yelp refuses to post an honest review of an attorney because these platforms are a scam and tool for "influencers" in certain geographic locations to use for personal gain.
Back in 2017, I went in for a scheduled job interview with an organization in Yucaipa. I went to the receptionist who told me so and so wasn't there. I left and went home.
After I got home after driving twenty miles, I saw on my computer an email from the person who wasn't there, asking me to come back. I called instead and asked for an interview over the phone. The person declined, and told me that someone else would call me.
Ten minutes later the phone rang. That someone else was calling. I again asked for an interview over the phone. That second person declined.
I left a review on Yelp describing my experience. Soon after, Yelp sent me an email message stating that my review was removed for "conflict of interest".
Even after four plus years, this whole episode still rankles.

I started my own dog walking business, when I filled out the Yelp information they requested a couple of reviews. So I got a couple of my customers to write reviews for me. It's a year and a 1/2 later and Yelp has removed those reviews plus they practice unlawful business practices by calling you up and signing you up to do ads without your permission! I will never use them again and I'm trying to get my money back that I never approved An ad for! One of their reps named Mike called me on December 20th sounded like he was running out the door and said you don't have to do anything I'll take care of everything for you, you got $350 of credit! And the next thing I know this guy posted an ad for me that I never wanted and now I have to pay Over $200 for it! They are very deceptive in their business practices! Beware!
Yelp let a customer write about personal things regarding myself. She did not review the business service. She did not say we had done a bad job, that we did not complete her job satisfactory. She stated I was rude and that she was overcharged. I have documentation she was not overcharged and was charged only what was was signed and agreed to. She reviewed a second time 3 months later on the same complaint giving it a second score continuing on with claiming she heard my boyfriend worked with me. Which was hearsay and not true. Yelp refused to look at it. I had another review for another company with the same name in a different state and they would not remove it either. So what is the point of having policy if you do not follow it yourself.
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
