Was hesitant to try but it works better than Verizon plus it's free. Can't go wrong with FreedomPop. Service everywhere I go with LTe speed. Love if!
I ordered their $10 plan online, but the order never showed up on my online account. I emailed them and they stated the sim was shipped but failed to respond concerning the account issue. After 12 days and still no sim card, I contacted PayPal and disputed the order. After a few days, Paypal reimbursed me the $10. The sim card finally came after 15 days but does not work. Still no response concerning my account issue. They are obviously a scam now.

Hadn't used them for three years when they hit me with a 19.99 charge of out the blue. Never authorized any new charges. In fact, I stopped using them because of their duplicitous billing practices. If you use this company, better watch the fine print and you're credit card statement for unauthorized charges.
I had FreedomPop in 2020.
In June 2021 charged began appearing of $8/month. Beginning April 2022 they began charging $13.98/month.
Now a total of $85.98 has been charged.
Phone service has been switched to Mint months prior to these charges being incurred. Anyone would consider this notice of cancellation of service yet they claim that the "SIMs were still active and hadn't been cancelled".
I had actually called and complained in July 2021 but they continued to charge.
This is a scam.
DO NOT get involved with these scammers.
Tip for consumers:
Don't get involved in this messs
$#*! freedompop.
$#*! them hard.
They used to be a worthwhile service, but the last couple of years have been a waste of money and time.

I have a confirmation email from 2019 stating that my account was cancelled at my request and that I would not be charged again. Suddenly FreedomPop takes it upon themselves to start charging me $4 per month for a cancelled account. Luckily I have the email confirming the cancellation and am filing for a chargeback with my bank. I suggest anyone else with fraudulent charges do the same. Banks charge businesses quite a bit more in fees than the $4 that this dishonest company makes per month from each victim and enough people filing will make it not profitable for them to continue the practice.
Like other reviews i cancelled my free account with freedompop many years ago and suddenly was charge $3.99 for nothing, and they won't refund it. I assume they are going out of business soon, hence the desperate cash grab. Scamming people during a pandemic is just evil

Whatever you do, DON'T fall for this scam. You'll never get a free account and you'll discover unexpected charges on your account frequently. The customer service is AWFUL. I can't decide whether they don't understand enough English to do their jobs or they are trained to be as unhelpful and obstinate as possible. Don't fall into their trap. Not convinced? Go to "Victims of FreedomPop" on Facebook.
FreedomPop is great for light-medium users looking for cheap (FREE) cellular data. They have offerings on Spring CDMA as well as AT&T LTE SIMs. The free allotment is not a lot, but sufficient for light users. You can always get additional SIMs (1 cent - 99 cents) and swap the out as needed or pay for additional data.
Just read the fine print and make sure to downgrade from trial plans/services before you get charged.
I have been using Fp for many months without problems. Their connection is really good and also their service too. What's more, they gibe you free data and voice which is super cool! I love this company
One word: thiefs.
They retired 200/200/500 plan I was signed for and requested either to accept new 5/25/xx or to cancel account. I cancelled account and kindly asked to refund unused funds from it. How naive I was. They told me because I cancelled the account, I was not anymore in their refund policy.
Neither BBB, not writing to CS did not help to resolve a problem and get a refund..
3 years after I cancelled freedom pop they started taking $4 per month out of my PayPal account. It was such a small amount that I didn't notice it. I cancelled PayPal also, I guess they can't be trusted either.
Tip for consumers:
Go with the big cell phone companies, you pay more but you get more and they are trustworthy.

Impossible to cancel. They keep charging your account even after you've put in a cancellation request. They have no customer service or billing department to talk with regarding booking issues. I've left messages with their Sales and Technical Support, but never got a call back. The micro card they mailed me wouldn't even for in my Moto-X cell phone. Worst. Customer. Service. Ever!
I haven't used the FreedomPop service for years. I haven't received any communication with them since 2018 when I complained about the $0.01 charge they were making on a monthly basis and they refunded one month and stopped charging me. Now in June and July of 2021 they have started charging me $4.04 each month.
EDIT: After waiting on hold forever they agreed that the "email address" they had "sent" some notification to was actually a phone number and they agreed to refund me my $8.08 and remove my credit card from their system. I am satisfied with the resolution but still VERY dissatisfied that I had to deal with this on an account that had been closed for so long.
Tip for consumers:
Stay away unless you enjoy spending hours on hold and arguing trying to fix ridiculous billing mistakes (except they won't refund so they don't think it is a mistake?!)

Absolutely terrible! This company is practically a scam. The plans cost so much considering how little data they offer. They automatically charge you to op off the credit in the account and if you want to opt out they charge you $6.99 a month, FOR WHAT? The service is really bad so I dont even understand what they are offering as I can barely connect or stream. I am so disappointed ANY of my money went towards this scam company. I really wouldn't even risk it with them if I were you.
I asked them 3 years ago to cancel my plan. I guess they switched it to a free plan. Well, they got rid of the free plans 2 months ago and started charging $20/month. Guess who was never notified and got billed and is now on the phone with customer service? (or lack thereof)
The call service was horrible - would prompt you to subscribe for "paid voice service" - only to realize that the paid service was equally horrible! On top of that they started making some additional charges without my knowledge. The last incident - they changed the monthly subscription 9 days in advance and will not refund or cancel my account when I asked to do so (still on a valid current billing cycle' for 5 more days; charges for my future billing cycle was charged 4 days ago. They wont cancel/refund!) Stay away!
Low to moderate users can benefit from the FP sims (and phones although I have no personal experience with those).
I have a SIM onthe "free plan" - 200 minutes/texts/mb per month. You can increase the Mb to 700 with FP friends.
I also have an annual 1000 promo that gives 1000 mins/texts and 1gb data per month for an annual charge of $49.99 (again FP friens can increase data to 1.5gb)
You need to go through the downgrade to free process carefully at start up to avoid default charges. Google it to make sure you get it right and your on a $0 a month plan.
Seriously sucks, bought a new sim card on eBay for $5 and can't even activate. Their site doesn't even load up and tried to use their app and to activate and it don't do anything.
Freedom Pop commits fraud on a regular basis. I am reporting them to the NYS attorney general for using credit card information that the company does not even have permission to keep on file but they have used. They refuse to refund the so called "top off fee" that they were NEVER EVER authorized to charge in the first place. And charging $6.95 per month to prevent charging $20 is also not even legal.
Everything says free phone service but they start you at 40 a month, you can downgrade to their "free" service but it costs 20 dollars to do so, and all their services are paid services, so there is no way you can get it free, but considering the service is complete garbage anyway, I guess you can't expect too much from them, especially a refund, they will not give you a refund at all, this site and their service is garbage.
I did get my refund from them. It was like pulling teeth. But I got my money back. All but $37. Better than nothing. They can keep that $37. If you get hooked up with Freedompop, you will regret it. They are not telling you everything in the advertisement. They will constantly go into your bank account, sometimes 3-7 times in a day... everyday, withdrawing funds back to back. They drained my bank. I had to contact news reporters. You will catch hell getting in touch with Freedompop after they clean you out.
Then, if you put a freeze on your bank account to stop them from withdrawing, they will stop whatever service you have with them. I feel it is very important that I update you on what happened, so you won't get sucked in with them. Don't do it!
Where is my refund for returning the nova hotspot? You not responding to emails and calling is useless, automated system come on requesting a updated credit card. My account suppose to be close. Give me my money and less rap up this problem. I shouldn't have to go through all of this, just to cancel and get my refund. I'm getting annoyed..
I signed up for FP without reading any reviews... BIG MISTAKE! After getting the "congratulations" email, with no ID or account number anywhere on that page, I tried to contact FP for information. There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE on line, nor by phone. The menu tree just goes from page to page, and back to the beginning. I did find a phone number for signing up for new service (SIM Card), but they would not help me at all as they said that they were "sales" only, and not able to assist in any way with my account. Since I do not have an account number, I can not access any details about my account; they do have a "reset" page where you can request a new PIN... they will send to your email a temporary ID; I have done that 3 times, but nothing ever arrives in the email. FINALLY, with all the above, and several hours of frustration, it was easier for me to move away, and to dispute this initial $0.01 charge on my credit card, and let the CC people cover my back. So I have eliminated this FP for my personal phone service provider, and have gone with a professional, first class provider, and have no issues like this. All I can say about FP and customer service, is that there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE of any kind. It is all just for the $$, and charge to your CC on an automatic basis. I will add to this review if I have any other issues with FP and the CC charges in the future.
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. It is a bait and switch phone compnay. No customer service of any kind !! They will not respond to emails or answer your questions. No phone contact either. It was BIG mistake on my part. Should have read all the review first. Live and learn.

I purchaed the $0.01 SIM card with phone service at a monthly rate. Never got to test the SIM card as it never arrived within the set time. Tried to cancel the balance of charges, but they company would not allow it ..... so had to disput the extra charges on my CC.
BEWARE! IF YOU BUY INTO THEIR SCAM, WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD BILLING FOREVER. I purchased a "prepaid" plan at Target (1Gb data/month, unlimited talk & text) in November 2018. Upon activation, I accepted a free 30-day upgrade trial with the assurance I would be able to cancel the free upgrade and return to my plan without penalty. Before the free upgrade trial was up, I tried to cancel the upgrade, but there was no option to go back to my prepaid plan in their drop down menu (only the free plan with less service than I paid for). Since you cannot talk to a real person after signing up without paying extra, I submitted an online request to cancel the upgrade trial and return to my prepaid plan. I got this response: "By now you have assigned the plan $0.00 due every 6 months and you also have active the subscription FreedomPop Phone Premier Semi-Annual for $ 26.94 monthly, plus taxes: $ 3.21. Due to our policy once the renewal charge was applied to your account we won't be able to process the refund."
My credit card was charged for the upgraded service. I submitted multiple complaints asking for a refund. Nothing. I complained to the BBB. They didn't help. I finally called my credit card company and had them reverse the charges and block FP from trying to make those charges again. FreedomPop then INACTIVATED MY ACCOUNT because going to the credit card company "violates their terms of service". FP refused to refund my prepaid amount or fulfill their 1-year service obligation I had already paid for through Target. No phone service. Money lost. Lesson learned.
NOW OVER A YEAR LATER (1/31/20) THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD $53.10!
I never could get the service up and running and they refused to speak to me on the phone. They kept emailing me for support, so I cancelled their services. That was 2 yrs ago. Now my bank alerted me that they are trying to charge me 23.98, but my bank rejected the transaction and will continue to do so since it is not valid. Do not do service with these folks. I can't even get them on the phone to talk to me about this issue. TERRIBLE PLACE. BE WARNED.
