Right now in NYC it's 49 degrees. 5 different sources confirm this. Weather Underground says it's 40. How can you possibly be off by that much? No wind chill correction or humidity- just 40 degrees. It's horrible. The website and the app.
There are daily inconsistencies.
Loads super slow, often incompletely. No new features, no new information. 10-day forecast is no longer viewable on the start page. No improvement whatsoever over the old. What are these a-wipes thinking? Fortunately, my local Fox affiliate has a fairly decent weather site, because Weather Underground is completely useless now.
The site has been up and down all week and today it's just 404 page not found. I give up, if WU wants a useless site, so be it. I won't go there.
Updating my review from 3 weeks ago where I assigned 1 star - now giving it 4 stars since the graphs have reverted to how they used to look. Glad that IBM is responding to all the recent terrible reviews. Still not 5 stars because the top of the display still shows a giant temperature readout, which is a waste of screen real estate.
WU was my favorite weather app and I turned a lot of people on to it. Now it stinks. Great graphs have been replaced by much sparser views. Time to find a different weather app...
Was an Intellicast user for many years but no longer. This take over from Weather Underground (The Weather Channel) is slow, cumbersome and full of worthless features that make it hard to find a simple forecast. Awash with maps I could not care less about I miss the simplicity of Intellicast that would give you a daily or 10 day forecast that was up and visible as soon as you keyed in the location. Did 10 year olds create this "new" website. Would give this zero stars if it was an option.
I'm out!
Weather Underground used to be great. The new layout is horrible. Can't get the descriptive forecast on 10 day anymore. Site is slow now pages. Whomever designed and approved the layout should be fired. Weather Underground please read the user reviews. I've been a long time subscriber but will not be renewing when my subscription expires unless they bring back the old format.
Radar is down for maintenance a lot.
They change their rain percentage hourly.
Have seen them post 90 degrees when it's in the 60's.
Hate that they bought out intellicast.
I only use it for the radar but it's hit or miss if it will be up.
10 day forecast is usually a joke
Pretty useless
According to Wikipedia, Intellicast now falls under their cloud platform group. It's a very bad advertisement for their cloud when the forecast page won't even load for days on end. IBM has bet most of their marbles on cloud and software. IBM used to be good in the hardware business, but they've failed with their transition to software. I am sick of this daily reminder as I watch the WU graph icon spinning and never loading. Wonder where the Intellicast wizard architects are nowadays.
I paid for a yearly subscription. The radar does not predict. It only goes from past to "now". I want future predictions and can't find a way to get that. Even free aps have future predictions.
Life is becoming a collage of many remembered things with past tense greatness.
This website is another... used to be the best weather site on the web.
But better smarter people than me and many others is guess thought they could "New and Improve it" right out of existence.
And they did... mission accomplished. Completely useless and broken now.
The simplest search of all as I have a daughter and mother in South Florida facing a category 5 hurricane Irma and this site has no information on this life threatening hurricane?
No hurricane models, nothing compared to 4 other trusted apps.
Explain now why your website is endangering millions of lives?
Why would you do this on purpose? It is now worthless. I hope once the revenue from this site drops they will bring the old site back. If not the manager is so egotistical that can't admit when they are wrong. Its been fun but can't waist anymore time or money here!
WU was my go to weather app until it was changed Dec 2019. (where is my local weather station?)now it's so difficult to use i have stopped using it... bring back the old version or I'm moving on. A very frustrated and sad customer
WU is absolutely horrible! Those of us who live in areas prone to tornadoes depend on detailed satellite to protect our families. WU is full of ads, bs news, maps are worthless, and the site is almost impossible to navigate. Garbage. Lives could be lost, bring back Intellicast.
I suspect the new ownership by Weather Channel represents a conflict with the concept of unbiased crowd-sourced data. Either that or some WC genius totally screwed the pooch on merging infrastructure and managing WU talent retention. Either way a once great community is going to fragment. Cant even submit a problem report as presumably all the WU emails are inactive. I never bothered with weather channel in the past because... well weather channel...
Seriously, their geography is wrong, the satellite functions don't work, and the forecasts are wildly inaccurate. The site is a collection of widgets which often don't load properly. I'm not a big conspiracy guy, but I suspect it was bought by IBM and allowed to rot on the vine, so to speak, to eliminate competition for their other weather sites (which are also not very good). Before that purchase, it was probably the best site for my area. However, IBM's Weather Underground is an extremely poor service/site.
I have been a WU fan and subscriber for years. I have also talked with others about its accuracy and functionality and many of them shifted to it as well. I absolutely hate the updated app and no longer use it. The ability of using portrait mode on my iPad is gone, precipitation forecast totals is gone and the other changes are hard to use/understand. Not sure who thought all of this change was a good idea, but hope they are happy with the number of users and paid advertisers they are losing.
I'm mourning the loss of Intellicast, too, but earlier today I stumbled on https://96.8.93.198
Would someone please try http://96.8.93.198
https://96.8.93.198
Or 96. 8. 93. 198?
Please report if it works.
It looks like the old Intellicast site, EXCEPT without advertisements. I don't think it's an old image of the site, as everything LOOKS up to date. On some machines the "https :// "; prevents getting to the proper site, or on others, is seems needed (please excuse me, I'm NOT a software engineer). Same with the "http :// ".
Here's hoping it continues to work, if it's real. Please let us know.
This used to be a great source for accurate weather information. Within the last year or 18 months it has become totally useless. Even the 24 hour predictions can vary wildly throughout the day. The site takes forever to load and it is very clunky to navigate.
WU's web and apps used to be used by all of my family. However, it has gotten so bloated and slow that we've written it off as a waste. Don't know who's heading up the site development, but they have certainly ruined a once good web site!
New app design is poorly designed with graphics that make no logical sense. I do not use the app to see pretty adds and confusing app design that leaves one wondering if you even considered the users desires in a weather app. Interestingly one of my devices has kept the old app and another device deployed the new app. Put them side by side and all you can do is shake your head and wonder "What are they thinking?" Why not offer two apps, the old one for people who want functionality and the new app for those that don't know the difference.
Answer: This was deliberate calculated sabotage for some reason
Answer: It won't come back. IBM bought The Weather Company to get at the data so they could package and sell that to their corporate customers using their "Watson" cloud services. Individuals mean nothing. That they've managed to so thoroughly destroy what was once the premiere weather site says a lot about the incompetence behind their core "Watson" products. You might want to tell IBM that.
Answer: They hired a bunch of idiots to manage and design their new site. This included removing features and gutting the radar.
Answer: Yes. We have many employees who come to work each day desperate to appear productive and relevant. We ask them to destroy functional lean websites with bloated nonsense. Meanwhile, our executives require more money so we like to devastate communicative websites with ad-infested infestations of pus-riddled idiocy. Thanks for asking!
Answer: Pointless giving feedback/complaints. I tried this and got an automated reply telling me how much better it was!
Answer: Your local Tv station meteorologist.
