The common consensus is that this site used to be everyone's go-to for weather information. But like the other reviews I must agree that it's pointless to visit this site now. All the ads and inability to load properly have made this site absolutely terrible. To make matters worse the radar rarely works and seems to only work when there's not a cloud in the sky. When it's about to rain and I need to see the radar it always says "radar down for maintenance." It's a shame they have let this site go to complete garbage. I'll never use the site again after 15 years of using it almost every day.
I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said, but maybe, just maybe (though highly doubtful) they will bring the old style web page back because the new site sucks wet donkey bottom.
I've been a member since membership was available, but I will not renew so long as this new site exists. If I could get my money back, I would.
Worst. Site. Ever.
The app frequently hangs and crashes with the message "Try again later." The local weather station has wildly incorrect temp data, but the site won't let me switch to another station permanently; it keeps switching back to the incorrect station. The app UI is confusing and probably doesn't actually work. Many of the features that made WU great have been stripped from the site. This has been done to get people to stop using WU and move to Weather.com. Whatever you do, don't use Weather.com, since they're the reason why WU is no longer a good site or app.
I really dislike the new design. I always used to check Weather Underground first thing in the morning, now it is no better than any other weather site. I don't know why websites can't just leave things alone.
Ever since the site was sold to the Weather Channel it has declined into mediocrity. Features are unreliable and quirky, the site in some way or other is regularly down. Currently, 12/3-12/4/17 the site is down. They no longer reply to support queries. I have been a paid subscriber for over 10 years but no more. Terrible.
Don't know where to start. No animated radar history. Won't save the favorite cities. Doesn't see the log-in. Radar app is useless. I signed up for the free version and see absolutely nothing to encourage me to spend anything on the app. What the hell were they thinking? Looks like a bunch of kids were playing with the web page. Local weather app will have to do, I guess. Have to give them a one-star because the ads come up very well!
I have to also say that this was always my site to give me accurate, immediate info whether on laptop or Mobile.
My first reaction was that I did something wrong, but nothing I did.
Have tried over the past several days to save my PWS but still see wrong weather.
I will be looking for a new simple weather to log in on. You should have left the start page alone, and then allowed deeper drill down if one wanted to.
You will want to pull out your 44 Magnum and shoot your screen. Most aggravating weather website ever. No hourly at the touch of a button. What happened to Intellicast? Or at least the same platform. This stinks have moved to weather.com.
At least they forced me to refresh my web programming skills. As others have mentioned the 'old' site was nice because they had everything you needed, pretty much, on one page and it updated itself like it should. Now the main page doesn't update unless you go to a specific PWS and the 10-day of course is on another tab. I've now programmed my own web site that takes the place of most of their functionality. It may not be as pretty or load as fast but at least it reload's itself!
I used to love the site; over the last year or so it; s turned into trash. The pages don't load because of overwhelming ad content and ad tracking software. Graphs don't load; it's a total cluster-xxxx. Those responsible should be ashamed.
I don't know if Weather Underground could have done much more to screw up Intellicast if they tried. Really miss what Intellicast WAS. The ability to pan and zoom and regenerate the radar frames quickly is gone. More adds/page than radar. They're apparently trying to suck every last advertising dollar out of the Intellicast name and have so overloaded every page with ads and garbage that it takes forever to navigate the website. Just horrible.
Intellicast was a great site, informative and easy to navigate. Everything was intuitive and understandable. The former weather underground was helpful. Ever since they merged they have abandoned all that was good about either. Not intuitive at all. Some of the best previous features are missing. Trying to find what you want is all a matter of guesswork. Whoever redesigned the sight should be fired and if legally possible shot.
Just for the heck of it I still go to WU, but only to see what new they have screwed up, but there is not much left they can destroy... the site is close to being unusable now. It would be nice if we could give them NO stars!
As soon as I saw that IBM had purchased WU I knew it was over. They removed the ability to easily find and store weather stations for different geographical areas. Personal activity forecasts are now a mess. And the radar screen plays like it uses integrated graphics from the nineties.
And the real tragedy is that the original app worked so very, very well. That's why it had great ratings! All IBM had to do was keep the original product and slap their name on it and they would have been fine. But like everything they touch, they just can't stop themselves and they have to "improve" it. Well, they blew it again! My subscription is up at the end of this month and I am NOT renewing.
Stay away. Stay far away.
Always WRONG when predicting thunderstorms. They just keep moving the time ahead. 1 p.m... whoops, we meant 2:30... psych! 4 p.m. Just kidding... 6 p.m. happy planning your day! Horrible terrible. Goodbye.
The site now takes a long time to load due to the large number of ads. They used to show detailed astronomy info, such as the altitude of the sun at your location, and removed that. Often when I click on the 10 day forecast I just an empty white box where it should be. Unfortunately, the site is now worthless thanks to weather.com.
I like in southern Humboldt county and the weather forecast is very important for people in my area that are dealing with plant life. In my experience, weather underground is never correct in it's forecast. For the last 2 weeks out has consistently been 10 degrees or more under the actual temperature. This is not acceptable and for this site to consider itself a weather forecasting sure is nothing short of a hoax. Don't bother with following weather underground. Try AccuWeather or some other site that occasionally gets in the ballpark of the actual weather?
Some of the data is always wrong, and if you have a problem with something not working on their website they have no support to fix the issue. I've been a paid subscriber, and have been having a problem with one of the settings not working. I've emailed "support" a number of times about the issue, and all I've ever received is an automated reply stating "Thank you for taking the time to write to us. Our team has received your email and will be reviewing it shortly." Nothing more. No actual reply to my issue, and the problem still exists. So I'm deleting my account. Don't waste your time with Weather Underground, and don't even consider being a paid member! There are far too many other weather forecast sites to choose from. Don't make the mistake of choosing WU.
Was one of the best sites with open data. Now they destroyed weather underground to redirect all the traffic to their main website weather.com.
If you have a personal weather station with weather underground, please take it offline. They use your data and sell it for an outrageous price just like google, comcast, and AT&T. Why not bend over and give them your whole paycheck?
The only solution is for someone to start a new website and keep it non-profit.
All I can say is I'm glad I didn't pay the three bucks or five bucks whatever they want for this piece of crap app the great until now. Now I see Weather Channel bought it. That explains everything. Uninstalling today
Answer: This was deliberate calculated sabotage for some reason
Answer: It won't come back. IBM bought The Weather Company to get at the data so they could package and sell that to their corporate customers using their "Watson" cloud services. Individuals mean nothing. That they've managed to so thoroughly destroy what was once the premiere weather site says a lot about the incompetence behind their core "Watson" products. You might want to tell IBM that.
Answer: They hired a bunch of idiots to manage and design their new site. This included removing features and gutting the radar.
Answer: Yes. We have many employees who come to work each day desperate to appear productive and relevant. We ask them to destroy functional lean websites with bloated nonsense. Meanwhile, our executives require more money so we like to devastate communicative websites with ad-infested infestations of pus-riddled idiocy. Thanks for asking!
Answer: Pointless giving feedback/complaints. I tried this and got an automated reply telling me how much better it was!
Answer: Your local Tv station meteorologist.
