They used to be great but now are awful and you cannot get any problems with your order resolved. I'm supposed to be sent new wines I've never tried before and they keep sending me the same wines I was shipped within the last year 25% of the time. The staff changed my order from a mixed wine case to all red case without my consent. The preview option on the website was not working so I was not aware of this until the case arrived. When I emailed the company about the problem, they said I would get a refund and gave me a phone number to process my refund. The phone number was somebody with an accent that I could not understand. I asked if she could repeat and spell her name please and she refused. I apologize that I couldn't understand her accent and asked if I could speak to someone without an accent and she said "No". I asked to be transferred to someone with less of an accent and she also said."No". She initially refused to honor the companies decision to refund my case, and insisted that I find the packaging which had already been sent to recycling, get a return label and find someone to lift and carry the entire case back to a shipping facility. I explained that only half the order was incorrect and I'd like to keep half the wine. She then changed her story and said I would get a full refund and did not have to ship anything. After the charge was not taken off my credit card, I contacted Wsj Wine again. They said that they want me to return the entire case now. This is too much trouble and I'll just cancel my membership and join a different wine club.
I placed order 2 m ago. Then they stated shipped and received never had it delivered. Door camera 24h nothing. 1st supervisor Max, promised redeliver, 2nd Gregg same not delivered, 3rd supervisor Ken same promise no wine. Will dispute charge with credit card. Loss of time and effort. Stay away
Our shipment which was to arrive between the 6th and 10th arrived on the 12th with 5 of the 12 bottles either corkless or with popped corks, The case had been on the FedEx truck apparently for 2 or three nights in freezing weather here in Minnesota. When we called customer service they as much as said "tough s**t". Never again.
Today is April 17. An order from 12/28 is still not here. An order from 3/28 is not here. No tracking information from representatives at WSJwine.com. They said they would "reach out" to the retailer. There are other wine clubs with similar prices, better service, and free shipping.
I have been a customer for years. This year was the final straw. Charged my card on Nov 1st for my wine club, on Nov 25th called and said they would look into it and call me back the next day NO call. Emailed cause no one would answer on the 26th, no response. Needless to say 5 phone calls and 4 emails later with no response, I called and canceled the order still no refund or email back. DO NOT do business with this company they have become a complete scam. Wish i could give them zero stars
Quality wine, affordable prices, and unfortunately poor customer service. I loved being a WSJ member for the first 2-3 boxes. Then when I went a few months without ordering wine, WSJ decided to charge me $300 and send me a box without my consent. I canceled my account because of this and since then WSJ has sent me two more cases (that they charged me for) as well as charged me renewal fees for my account. So even when you have emails from WSJ confirming you're account has been canceled they can continue to charge your credit card and sometimes send wine for it. I eventually had to call my bank to block charges from WSJ to stop them from stealing my money.
I called to return the box to get my money back, after 2 months of trying to get a hold of someone. Finally getting a hold of someone who refused to refund me without the box of wine in fedexs hands. But were not sending me the promised return label. It's been 2 months of arguing and trying to mail this back and finally got my money back. The WORST customer service i've ever dealt with.
In 12/19 or early 2020, I got a flyer in the mail from WSJwine offering 6 to 12 bottles of barossa cab for sale with delivery in June 2020. I bought it.
June came and went and no wine.
I started corresponding with them and they said they "believed" it wouldn't be delivered until 2021. I asked for a manager to call me.
No call.
As the title says, WSJwine sucks (and is fraudulent).
Buy elsewhere. Have had a good experience at wine insiders.
This group is worse than useless. Signed up, gave them money. Was told my order was delivered, even though a SIGNATURE was required. They claimed it was signed for by someone who doesn't live at our address. I asked for my money back. They then claimed to have sent and DELIVERED, a second box. No signature was obtained but they did tell me it was signed fo by "nineteen". They have been contacted repeatedly for a refund. Still waiting. RUN AWAY FROM THIS GROUP
Paid $150 for an advent calendar wine gift - comes in a triangle like box, so you open 1 wine each day during advent. They shorted us a bottle of the wine. Wasnt broken, they just didnt put it in the gift. What good is an advent calendar gift if its missing 1 of the days, you cant give it as a gift. I contacted them, thinking they would send us the bottle that was missing. They refused. They said they would give us a $9.99 credit for the missing bottle, what good is that. HOrrible horrible experience.
The promo case is a good deal - from there, they do not pay any attention to which wines you list as liking and which varietals you tell them not to send. Recived idetical cases back to back. Customer service is completely useless. The first time they sent me things I had not asked for they refunded those bottles right away. The next time (after sending the entirely incorrect case) told me I had to ship bottles back to them for the refund. The place is a mess - save your time

Email them with a problem: You get a canned email back with a bunch of fluff and no real answers. Or perhaps answers that just aren't the truth.
Call them with a problem: You get lip service and no real answers. You do get the speech about the call center and the email center not knowing what each other are doing - as if that is the fault of the customer having the problem.
Best advice: Stay Away From WSJ Wines
So I ordered one box of wine to try. I picked my wines then I got an email saying because of the state I lived in they could only send me certain wines which they picked for me! Ok. Then when I got the package the "free" gift a couple of wine glasses weren't included but enclosed was a card saying sorry they were out of stock. But I let all that slide and enjoyed a couple of bottles of the wine but not all of them. Two months go by I get a strange email from fedex stating they had a delivery for me that required a signature. Wsj wine had just sent me a box with no notice and changed my account $200! I called. The man I spoke to was very nice, apologized and said just refuse the shipment from fedex and he would credit my account. Over a week later, two phone calls and no supervisor available to talk to me they still haven't refunded my money Now they have the wine and my money and no one can talk to me about it! What a ripoff! Stay away from them!
I'm a new member, and so far I've received the intro club order, plus 2 club orders, and 1 additional "summer wine" order. I had shipment delivery issues resulting in us receiving 2 orders at the same time even though I told the rep ahead of time that we wanted them spaced out. Todays confusion involves our 3rd club shipment which was missing the 3 free bottles. I spoke to a woman yesterday and she couldn't answer my question about the missing 3 bottles. She assured me someone would call me back. That didn't happen. I called again and was told there was a glitch in the system, and I'll get my 3 bottles next time. I told them I wanted them sooner, and I was told they couldn't send them because of "the system". Seriously? How hard is it to send 3 bottles to us? Again I've asked for a manager to call me back. Fat chance I'll get a call back! Oh and I was told they don't send out the tasting notes any more, but I can ho on line and see the info. I feel like I've been snookered. Don't fall for the slick advertising gimmick. I'm really disappointed. I'm going back to the Total Wine store!
After 3 shipments were left on my front porch in the Texas heat with no signature & them billing an account I had removed from my profile, I am done. Buyer beware.

Honestly, I've seen scams with better customer service and user experience. I tried out their wine club -- had a nice little discount and everything. It was a decent box: 12 wines, most of them good, some of them excellent. But not really something I felt the need to do again, and definitely not at the non-discounted price. When I opted in, it seemed like there was a lot of flexibility for members to choose which shipments to skip, which shipments to keep, etc. It was not clear to me that by partaking in their trial box, I was signing up for one of their "wine clubs." So you can imagine my surprise when I was suddenly charged nearly $200 for a case of wine I did not want! I sent out an email and am currently on hold with them. I tried to cancel my "club membership" but when I clicked on the settings to manage it, all I got was a blank page (screenshot included). This is the page where you are supposed to be able to skip shipments and cancel your membership. Interesting that that's the only page that "doesn't load." Steer clear of these scam artists.
EDIT: I've edited my review from one star to two because after being on hold with customer service for 25 minutes, they were very quick to refund my card and cancel my membership.
I ordered thru their Discovery wine club and during Covid 19 I decided to cancel my membership. Nobody answers phones in customer service so I emailed them my cancellation in 1st week of May 2020 and received confirmation for my email. Yesterday on June 10, my credit card account was changed for upcoming shipment!. Tried to contact them for 2days held total of 90 mins. No answer.
Never never sign up with them even their offer seems too good to pass. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I received a voicemail from someone who I believe said his name was Martin. He asked me to call him about a delivery and he left his number *******693. He also stated that he needed to verify my payment information. I called the number he gave me for WSJ Wine and they said they did not have a delivery for me and could not look anything up without an order number. I told the person on the phone I did not have an order # and that I did not order anything. If someone was sending me a gift, they should not be telling me that they need to "verify payment information." This is the second time I have had a wine club try to scam me by sending me wines I never ordered. BE VERY LEERY.
I ordered a case of wine on 11/9/2019 and they can't seem to get it off the warehouse floor. Wine rep says it's a FEDEX issue. How does a "delivered" wine service fail to get a FEDEX pickup?
If I ever get the wine, I can review that as well.
After many years as a happy customer of WSJ Wine for myself, I trusted them to send a half dozen very important corporate gifts and they screwed it up completely. I wanted to send a cool, classy and professional "thank you!" to the committee who awarded me a sabbatical for Term One at my school. There was supposed to be a note attached to the wines that read: "with deepest gratitude for the gift of a lifetime."
Instead, the wines were delivered with no note attached, only an invoice that read "thank you for your order." So my colleagues took the trouble to call the company to inform them that there had been some mistake, and a few told me they were worried that this was somehow part of a credit card scam. So rather than delivering something cool and classy, the WSJ Wine company turned my gift into something wonky and confusing and embarrassing.
Two weeks later, my personal wine adviser is too busy to really engage with me on how to make up for their mistake and has taken the position that "the wine was delivered," apparently not realizing that the whole purpose of the gift was so say an enormous "thank you!" and really had nothing to do with the wine itself.
So be careful and don't make the mistake I made - the WSJ Wine cannot be trusted to package and present a professional and impressive gift to your business associates and corporate clients.
John - we are mortified to hear this and eager to look in to what happened and make things right.
We have sent a request for more details, and look forward to connecting asap.

Answer: The Wall Street Journal owns WSJWine. It is a separate and distinct business from WSJ, but is owned by the company.
Answer: Because their service sucks and very quick to deduct the card but very very sloppy service
Answer: They also have a "free shipping" program called Advantage Shipping Service that you can buy (a la Amazon Prime) for $89/year. I've never purchased it because it's only valid on full cases, and I don't usually buy enough of those in a year's time to justify the $89. But if you buy at least 5 cases a year, regular shipping costs you $100, so the Advantage program is worth it in that case.
WSJ Wine has a rating of 1.4 stars from 235 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with WSJ Wine most frequently mention customer service, credit card and advent calendar. WSJ Wine ranks 99th among Wine sites.
