As a poet here at WritingDotCom there are not enough serious opportunities for truly improving my writing abilities. I learned quite a bit in my beginning years, but I have reached a plateau when I compare my writing with other sites and poetry magazines.
I absolutely love this site. It's a great base for my writing career and the tech support is phenomenal, though I don't need tech support very often. The owners of the site have become good friends to me. I have developed a lot of relationships through the site, even a romantic one. Go WDC!
They say "Free advice is worth what it costs." But as a writer, I have found a wealth of free advice on writing.com. Sure, some of it has been better than others, but every time I have followed someone's advice it has been instructive.
I'm not the kind that can find a mentor, but the writing community on writing.com has done this and more. I have found friends to light my life, mentors to lift me above my creative plateaus, and even a fianceé--however short-lived that was! And without the things I learned taking feedback from my fellows, I can honestly say I wouldn't be on the honor roll at my college.
I came to show my work and gather feedback to stoke my ego. I got feedback that actually improved my work, and so much more. It was not the first writer website I ever found, nor the last, but it is far and away the best. No other has had so much activity and interaction. Without writing.com, I would be very different than I am today.
I found Writing.Com a little over 7 years ago, when I was just beginning to get into writing. I joined to get feedback on my own writing but I stayed for the community. Over the course of my stay, I've gotten plenty of help to improve my writing and met many wonderful people that I would call friends.
Like any other endeavor, you get what you put into it. If you are an active member and part of the community, you will get more out of the site and its members than if you aren't. There are always members there to help if you have questions about the site, too. The staff, senior moderators and moderators are helpful and willing to help those who ask for it.
The members of this site strive to make it a place for writers to learn and grow and make it feel like an online home for you and your writing.
I've shared my writing on the site and have received many different reviews, good and bad. I won't say my writing deserved all five stars because the reality is it needed work. There are many authors published and unpublished on WDC and visiting readers who have offered critiques. I feel the advice given has helped my writing improve immensely. I'm eternally grateful for their help. It is a very satisfying experience to be with other people who share the same love for words that I do.
I've made many friends from around the world. This is an amazing opportunity for people to interact and discuss their passion for writing.
The staff is very committed to making every login on WDC the best. I've always had great responses when I've asked questions. The price for membership is very reasonable.
I've been using WDC for seven years and now. I'm a very satisfied customer.
Thank you Storymaster and Storymistress for making it possible.

I have been a member for quite a few years now. In the past I was so active that I was a preferred author and a moderator for awhile. Now, I just really enjoy reading and rating and reviewing other author's works as well as writing short stories for contests and working on my novel. They have so many helpful articles and forums for aspiring authors. They also have fun activites and contests. The other site members are helpful, honest and supportive. A wonderful site for writers and readers alike.
I've been a member of Writing.com for over 16 years--it's been a vital part of my life. I've become part of a small but amazing community of journalers that I can't imagine life without. Glad to have a community of like-minded people to spend time with!
I am not avid at much of any particular activity, but I do have pride for the substances of what I write about, and therefore like the idea of calling myself an avid writer.
Changing geographical locations to suit my needs and emotional tidal waves has been a stepping stone for me. But when the soul does not have clarity within their lives it is then that waves of emotional insignificance can become tides of typhoons, tsunami, and or walls of determination to ripple its waves upon their whole surrounding environment.
Here in Writing.com, you've found a team of bureaucrats who value your experiences of LIFE & HOPE, nothing less or more than to help you find a moment of clarity to give your soul a needed rest in rejuvenation, if you will, to accomplish what it is you want to accomplish with your writing team.
Good fortune - good luck - good riddance - & GODSPEED in your writing endeavors!
Sincere regards,
Albert Wayne Sheda
Writing.Com(munity)
As the title of my review indicates, Writing.Com is more than just a writing website, it is a community--community of writers. A huge positive aspect of the site is its leader: the StoryMaster. I was amazed when I first joined that the owner was available to personally answer my questions.
The StoryMaster monitors the site on a daily basis. Of course, he doesn't have to answer every question because he encourages members to help members. Under his influence, we are there for each other.
We help each other navigate the site and use all the tools available on Writing.Com AND we help each other hone our craft of writing. We read and review each others work.
The feedback and support I have gotten from other members has helped me grow as a writer. It can help YOU, too. Stop by today and tell them ruwth sent you.:-)
I joined Writing.Com nine years ago today and I love it!
writing.com is a must for any writer - doesn't matter if you're an amateur or a grizzled professional - this place will help you keep improving your skill stay motivated.
The best online resource I've found for getting feedback on writing. The community is very active, and in-depth reviews are actively encouraged. There's a niche here for almost every kind of writer.
I've been here for over 12 years and I have created, added to or contributed to dozens of interactive stories! This site is a blast if you love to write! Join today!
This is the best site for writing and reading. A place where you can feel at home. Make friends, get encouragement. A prices are reasonable too. My second home indeed.
Writing.com gave me a wonderful gift--confidence and courage to share my heart with others through poetry. Since joining, I've become a more skilled poet with the help of others on the site and through reading the poems written by others.
In addition to giving my inner self a voice, I've found Writing.com to be a special place for making friends and participating in contests and other fun activities that make me look forward to visiting the site every day.
We offer writing courses through New Horizons Academy, and our peer review system is a great way to get honest, helpful, and encouraging feedback on our writing.
The owners of the site are exceptionally talented and very hands-on. I feel like we are all family at Writing.com.
I've learned so much from being a member. There's never a dull moment. There's always something fun going on.
Go ahead. Give it a try. There are lots of us who are anxious to help you find your way around. If you're like me, you'll fall in love with it right away.
LOVE(x1000) the site. HOWEVER. When I give a gift membership to someone, I expect them to receive the benefits of that membership from the powers that be. I don't expect the recipient to tell me they can't access the promised features of the membership level. Example: they are unable to access all the "writing.com tools" features.
If a problem presents itself it should be handled in a professional manner, the member should not be banned simply as a "I have the power and you don't" by the GOD with no opportunity to ever get back into the denied areas.
And if they are not going to allow reentry I should be reimbursed my money. Not points but the real money I invested.
P.s. There was no "personal whim" clause in the contract I agreed to when I invested that kind of money. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL...
I'm still new but there's always somebody to help. Just ask. There are many moderators always available. Most members know the answer or they can point you to someone that does know.
For the past ten years, I have been taking my writing seriously. And I have looked for people to be honest, open, and at times critical of my short comings. WDC has been my online home for most of these past ten years, and it will continue to be so, long into the future. Long Live SM and SMS, and the fine folks at WDC
If you are looking for an endless start to your writing career, you've come to the right place. You will not be bored and might find yourself surprised at all the tools you have been given.
I have had a Writing.com account for a long time. It is a site for writers of all skill levels. Like many user generated content sites, the content itself can range from great to... well... indescribable in polite company. So my review will not be of that content, but of the site itself.
Their original interface was a bit of a pain at times, but very useable. The revamped one is far more useful and they are slowly adding to it. It allows you to store your items in a very organized manner. The free accounts get paid for by ads, but for a small fee you can drop the ads and store more stuff. They have an internal monetary system which can be used for contests, trading, and so on. It is theoretically possible to win enough points to pay for your account that way, but the results will depend on how well you get other users to like your writing.
It is possible to develop a set of other amateur writers as compatriots through this site. If you take the time and do this, you can get some quality reviews of your work. However, this will take time and effort.
Again, realize that I am only reviewing the site, and not the content of the authors. If I did that, I would have to write one review per author, and that would just take too long.
Perfect job. I have been contacting many companies they gave me a bad work. Howver ukwriting is the best websitr and all the experts has got many experenice ablut the subjects
Answer: The simplest and most honest answer to this is simply that we, as a site that allows authors to post work, can not possibly stop someone from copying something they've read online and trying to use it as their own. The question you have to ask yourself, more so, is whether or not that's likely to happen. If you feel your work is up to the level that someone could just take it and get it published -- then certainly you should not be joining a writing community to improve your skills -- you should instead be out getting your work published. From our 15 years of experience, having had tens of thousands of authors post work to Writing.Com, we've never heard from anyone that their work has been stolen from our site and published by someone else. I hope this answer helps!
Answer: Sure, that is interesting!:-) You can certainly write about anything that is interesting to you.:-)
Answer: It hasn't been down at all, so this is a difficult question to answer.:-)
Answer: Hello, If I'm understanding the question... you're asking about benefits of our Preferred Author promotion? You are correct in that promotion is recognition within the community more than anything else. There are some ancillary benefits, such as message forums and activities available only to certain portfolio levels, plus certain times where we request the input and/or participation of higher levels within the community. Our Moderators are only chosen from well established Preferred Authors. In addition, higher portfolio levels earn an increased number of Gift Points for logging in each day. A list of the various portfolio levels within Writing.Com: https://www.writing.com/main/books/action/view/entry_id/700363 Qualifications for Promotion to Preferred Author: https://www.writing.com/main/books/action/view/entry_id/700364 Qualifications for Promotion to Moderator: https://www.writing.com/main/books/action/view/entry_id/700392 I hope this helps! ~~SM
Answer: Hello, No, we do not have with "landing pages". It sounds like you're looking for a search engine placement company and that's not what we are. Good luck!
Answer: The answer is 0. Spending has nothing to do with promotions on Writing.Com. The qualifications for promotion include reviewing and interaction on the site, along with minimum amounts of time on the site. The full qualifications are listed in "Writing.Com 101" which is linked from the top of each page. Promotions are made manually, however... and Writing.Com is a literal "Mom and Pop shop" -- two people. Active members in our community also know that our 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia the first week of September, so they know that this type of manual promotion is not something we have time to take care of right now. We'll be back to it as we work through and manage our family health issues.

Answer: We are not Letgo. You are asking on the wrong site.:-)

Hello Clifford,
Writing.Com provides a "Need Help?" link from the top of each and every page on the site. That links directly to the support forum where members can get help with problems such as what you're describing. If something went wrong or there was a problem with the membership, it's not always possible for us to know this without someone coming to us for help.
If there's a problem, we're always happy to help when we can!
Best wishes...
