I have a 17 year-old granddaughter who has a gift for words and who has the same passion for writing and creative arts as i have. I shared with her this great website, because i know she will get great help in growing her gift here. By reading and reviewing all of the great writers who come here, one gets to see the world through their eyes.
I have found this to be an incredibly useful site, and I have gotten so much out if it. There are numerous writing competitions and activities to stimulate your creativity, and challenge your writing skills. As with anything, you only get out what you out in - so the more active you are on the site with writing and reviewing, the more views your work is likely to get.
I have found members to be very supportive, and I would recommend this site to anyone with a love of writing, regardless of skill and level.
I've member of this site since August. I recently renewed my subscription because I have been so impressed with it. I am learning the craft of writing, trying to find my own style. On this WDC I have found a community that is encouraging and yet quick to show ways to improve. There are lots of activities available to challenge you but all is at your own pace. I would recomend WDC to anyone who enjoys writing.
I enjoy reviewing others' work and building my personal portfolio by stashing my works-in-progress, finished pieces, and published clips. I had a bit of trouble navigating the site as apparently I am not as technologically gifted as other members. However, member forums are available and someone is always willing to help. I am not into the "social side" but there are many groups with myriad interests available. That being said, I have found it interesting to exchange ideas and writing tips through reviewing and being reviewed. The monetary system of GPs (gift points) is not my reason for venturing out into this large writing community- I merely try to earn enough points to gift to writers I review and maybe buy a few pens and sticky notes. All in all, I have enjoyed my years at WDC.
I absolutely love writing.com - the writing community is so warm and welcoming... you can get honest reviews for your work, and if you need help, there's always someone around who can help you. StoryMaster and StoryMistress really take pride in their site and don't allow bullying or anything threatening to go on in the site - at least not to my knowledge... When you have questions and email the site masters, they are really good about responding quickly! I absolutely love writing.com and I am now a member for LIFE!
I am querying now to publish my MG/fiction book. I credit Writing.com and the wonderful writers here for helping me gain the confidence to push forward and start writing seriously. Love, Love, love it!
I have writing novels, poems, and short stories.
I am working two jobs, family illnesses, and working on two BA. It is hard to get times to work on this site, but they never forget me. This site has been family for me.
Every opportunity I get, I promote Writing.com to another writer! I work in a very large hospital and talk with many people, both employees and patients. Thus whenever I have the opportunity, I tell people that there IS a place they can send their writings to, and for those taking classes at college, to send their writings, essays, and reports, to Writing.com for review. Thank you for the opportunity for me to promote my works.
Writing.com is a wonderful website, full of love and wonder. I have met many, many wonderful people there. Plus you get to share your writings and poems. It's great for feed back. It's a wonderful website, I promise.
The admins are lying about the server load. They are forcing users to pay for the one service (interactive stories) that is actually popular. They censor criticism of it and act very passive aggressive. Do not use this website for interactive stories.
I have been a member of Writing.com for over ten years now. It's a santuary for me, a home away from home, a place I feel safe to be myself and share my work without being judged. The sense of community throughout that website is immense. It involves me completely and I cannot help but get submersed in everything that goes on daily across the site. There's such a huge range of features there that allow writers to truly be creative, not only creating pieces like stories and poetry, but allowing writers to collaborate on things, work together to create a piece and offer each other encouragement. The reviews on Writing.com and always, I've found, warm, encouraging and genuine. I've never been judged for my work, only offered constructive criticism and I value that. It's the best site for writing that I know and one that I visit every day, I just can't resist!
This community is a great and open place to write anything and everything you've got on your mind. Blogs, short stories, novellas, and novels are all welcome. All genres and just about any circumstance you can place your characters in and situations you've been through are all here. Come and find the help and encouragement you need.
This site is great but it is very hard to get reviews. This is not the sites fault but where to get reviews from are very unclear. There are no set rules either for these sites. I think the site would be better if some groups were site run.
I love this site. I have been on this site for about 3 months. I have learned so much in my writing career. I hope to continue to learn more. Writing.com is not just a place to come write, it is a place for your extended family.
I wondered how hard it would be getting my acct up to date after being gone so long! It was so easy and smooth that it actually only took a few minutes. That was all there was to it so now I am back in business once again!
WDC is one of the best writing websites I've found online. Unlike other writing websites, it actually encourages writing. Like with learning any craft, it's up to the individual to better themselves. WDC is a tool used to improve your craft, and if you're not improving your writing, it isn't the websites fault.
Just write, post your work, and enjoy the community. It's awesome^^
If youre a writer, or want to be, this is the place to be. Not only will you find contests, writing prompts, and games... there are peer reviews and excellent camaraderie. Additionally, youll find great tips to improve your writing. I highly recommend this site!
As a poet here at WritingDotCom there are not enough serious opportunities for truly improving my writing abilities. I learned quite a bit in my beginning years, but I have reached a plateau when I compare my writing with other sites and poetry magazines.
Answer: The simplest and most honest answer to this is simply that we, as a site that allows authors to post work, can not possibly stop someone from copying something they've read online and trying to use it as their own. The question you have to ask yourself, more so, is whether or not that's likely to happen. If you feel your work is up to the level that someone could just take it and get it published -- then certainly you should not be joining a writing community to improve your skills -- you should instead be out getting your work published. From our 15 years of experience, having had tens of thousands of authors post work to Writing.Com, we've never heard from anyone that their work has been stolen from our site and published by someone else. I hope this answer helps!
Answer: Sure, that is interesting!:-) You can certainly write about anything that is interesting to you.:-)
Answer: It hasn't been down at all, so this is a difficult question to answer.:-)
Answer: Hello, If I'm understanding the question... you're asking about benefits of our Preferred Author promotion? You are correct in that promotion is recognition within the community more than anything else. There are some ancillary benefits, such as message forums and activities available only to certain portfolio levels, plus certain times where we request the input and/or participation of higher levels within the community. Our Moderators are only chosen from well established Preferred Authors. In addition, higher portfolio levels earn an increased number of Gift Points for logging in each day. Answer: Hello, No, we do not have with "landing pages". It sounds like you're looking for a search engine placement company and that's not what we are. Good luck!
Answer: The answer is 0. Spending has nothing to do with promotions on Writing.Com. The qualifications for promotion include reviewing and interaction on the site, along with minimum amounts of time on the site. The full qualifications are listed in "Writing.Com 101" which is linked from the top of each page. Promotions are made manually, however... and Writing.Com is a literal "Mom and Pop shop" -- two people. Active members in our community also know that our 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia the first week of September, so they know that this type of manual promotion is not something we have time to take care of right now. We'll be back to it as we work through and manage our family health issues.
Answer: Hello! The site definitely exists. We've sent your activation code and replied to each of your emails. Unfortunately, it seems your email provider is blocking your receipt of email from Writing.Com. You can contact them directly and ask them to be sure to whitelist Writing.Com emails or you can setup an alternate email to communicate with us and receive our emails. Google's GMail is a great and reliable email solution.
Answer: Yes! There are nearly infinite usernames available.:-)
Answer: We are not Letgo. You are asking on the wrong site.:-)
