Poor service, pathetic website

Don't order from this company. Your "account" with them requires you to search for any orders made…there is no record of them when you log into your account. It's like they created a website from 1980. They "sell" many products but don't seem to care if you're happy or even if you get them. "Don't blame us, blame covid" is their cover story, but they don't bother to follow up with you; no follow up, no emails saying we're sorry, no updates on order status or possible delivery time, nothing. More than a month since my order and nothing. I won't order from them again.

I was charged $ 1,100 in November '21 for a fireplace part. I waited 4 months for the part to finally arrive 2 weeks ago. However, the part was NOT new. It clearly had been used as it was scratched, bent, and all the boxes opened and rotted. I have repeatedly emailed customer service for over 2 weeks, but they have not responded.

Ordered was a fireplace gas log setup. One of the logs came broken and an entire new shipment of logs was sent out at no charge to me quickly after sending WoodlandDired pictures of the packaged broken log. As if this was not enough, ~ I complained thinking that the base unit for the fire set may have been incorrect. After sending another picture of the unit (ID tag), the representative quite patiently assured me via email that the proper item was sent and by my rearranging the parts I would understand the set up. Bottom line, they were correct again! Thank you for the service and just as important would be the savings by ordering through this online sales center.

Poor experience with
June 14, 2024

I've used my fireplace for two seasons. I'm on the South Georgia coast so we don't have much cold weather but when I selected a WD fireplace, I thought that we would enjoy the short periods of when we wanted to burn a fire. Both season we have experienced smoke filling our living room and house. I worked with the customer service team to isolate the issue. Tried all of their recommendations, video'd the smoke filling the room, cracked windows in the same room, cracked doors, opened windows and doors and we still have flowing smoke coming into the house. I figured the house was too tight with open cell insulation but fully opening the doors and windows proved me wrong. The recommendation is to install an exhaust fan on top of the chimney and suck the smoke out. A. way too expensive to buy the WD unit, B. Pain to install with the limited space on top and having to run new electrical to support the fan and switches. Not sure what to do...but considering ripping it out and finding a new supplier. One that can have someone come out and work with me.

I finally got the fireplace door I wanted. This may have taken 1 year and a couple of complaints on this website to get response from them. Their customer service has changed from my initial contacts with them. Instead of them saying they could do nothing about the first custom made door they built for me to having a new one built (to my specs) and delivered.

I ordered chimney parts from Woodland Direct. I was not able to get around to installing these parts right away as I am busy. When I did get the time to install I realized that some of the parts were not going to work and tried returning them 6 weeks after I bought them (un-opened). Their return policy would not let me return them. In this day and age to have such a poor return policy is a bad business. There are better companies out there with better policies so I do not recommend using Woodland Direct.

If you are a professional builder or remodeling expert - do not count on anything these people tell you. First the sales person failed to mention that their fireplace inserts require special flue material that no-one locally stocks. When we finally figured out we could only buy it through them (from the manufacturer), we were fed misinformation multiple times about when the shipment would actually be delivered. After numerous phone calls, and being lied to on 3-different occasions, we are now stuck waiting another week - and risk losing the sheetrock crew that has been put of multiple times. I will never buy from these people again.

Never worked

Bought a Montigo 48" fireplace with remote and power exhaust fan.
The instructions were not specific to that combination, as a result it has never worked properly.
After a month of dealing with their "tech" department, they said they couldn't help?
So I'm out 7 grand?

Buyer beware. These guys are thief's! I ordered fire pit mid November of 2022 with 2-3 week quote on delivery time.
Fire pit did not show up so I cancelled. They asked me to not dispute credit card and they would credit my card and have been playing games ever since.
We even conference called our bank with their customer service rep and our bank verified that Woodland has our money, but Woodland denies it. THEY STOLE FROM ME!

Good experience

I was trying to get some chimney parts and after the run around from two different fireplace suppliers these guys actually came through for me. I am sorry other people had bad experiences but mine was fine. I needed some special parts and they shipped them the next day as promised and they got here undamaged and in a timely manner. They were very friendly over the phone and knowledgable for what I needed. I didn't have any issues with my order.

Order a fireplace. It came with wrong parts, wrong instructions, and will not even work. We have been dealing with them for 5 months with no resolution. They don't have a slight clue about the products they sell. Don't waste your hard earned money with this company

The fireplace, which had a sticker stating that it had been converted to propane gas, was installed. The fireplace generated soot that damaged carpet, surrounding finishes, and the exterior wall surface. Additionally, the back wall of the fireplace box is permanently damaged. Our propane provider suspected that the unit was not converted to propane and Woodland sent us replacement conversion parts. The fireplace works fine now, but the damage is done and we received no reply.

Terrible Service!

I went online and picked out a wood insert. I called the customer service to talk with one of their so called (experts). He couldn't answer simple questions! I told him I was ready to purchase when he got clarification. Never heard a word back. I reached out with emails and tried calling numerous time with no response. I took a chance and ordered the insert but waited to order chimney parts after I received the unit so I could answer the questions I had on my own. Then I ordered the remaining chimney parts. All components and parts showed up and worked great but terrible service. If you have any doubt about what you need don't buy from this place.

Lied to me.

I called to ask if the stove I wanted was in stock. They said yes and the salesman was very pushy. Wanted me to order over the phone. He convinced me. I revived a few parts of the stove in good time. I heard nothing for 30 days. I called them and they said they were out of stock on that stove, And never apologize. I hope they go out of business.I still don't have the stove over 50 days latter.

Wouldn't recommend

I would not recommend this company. I was going to cancel my order because it was taking to long to ship. When customer support emails me and says they provided wrong shipping date. And it's forecasted to ship this week. So I agreed to proceed with order 7 days later order has not shipped. I waited over a month for my order and it's still not shipped. Don't waist your time with this company.

They are great when you are buying! Don't be fooled. As soon as you get your product installed and you realize that parts aren't right and things aren't working, you can't get a single soul to help you. I can't even close up my walls on my renovation because I don't have all my venting. No one will return my calls to get this straightened out. Absolutely DO NOT buy from them!

I ordered wrong fireplace

I ordered a fireplace that I was unable to use due to local regulations. Woodland customer service allowed me to return the entire order with no penalty. I paid return shipping which was fair and reasonable. They didn't have to help but they did. Good company and good CR.
