Worst eBay experience ever. Front of case not as advertised, design was nowhere near as nice. Poorly wrapped in paper packaging, front was damaged on arrival. Had to return it - sent it back Dec 18th, they received it Dec 20th. Realised in Jan that they'd not bothered to send my refund. Had to get in touch with them to do so - 3 times I asked for a refund, 3 times they assured me they'd sent it, and 3 times my refund never appeared. Had to ask eBay to step in & sort it out. I don't like being lied to - will never order from them again.
After some 17 days now, I still have not received payment for books, cd, dvd sent. I received a confirming email on December 27th that my checking account would be credited within 5 business days. It is now January 13th! No resolution to my follow up emails. Mind you, the original date of sending in my product was December 16th. Ebay manages payment with in days. Beware of World of Books as my experience leads me to believe this is a big scam!
Organised a collection of 5 boxes of books with World of Books; the courier organised to collect them was DPD. Our driver marked our collection as "too heavy" despite the fact he never arrived and so I was advised by WOB to rebook our collection. I did this 5 times, but the driver still never arrived. I contacted customer service multiple times, asking for assistance or a solution. The only assistance I received was an offer to rebook my collection with DPD again (they seemingly only use DPD as a courier for multiple large boxes) or to rebox my books into smaller parcels so I could drop them off at an InPost locker. I informed them multiple times that this wouldn't work for my collection, but only ever received generic responses that didn't take my issues into consideration. Their customer service phones do not get answered. I can't blame the customer service department for this, but it felt as if I was talking to a brick wall. In a vain attempt to get anything organised, I contacted DPD, but they told me that, since WOB was the organiser of the collection, they were unable to assist me.
I cannot in good conscience recommend World of Books if you are concerned that anything could go wrong with the sale of your books; the customer service team seem genuinely unable to help (I'm assuming this is company wide policy and not at the discretion of individual customer service agents). I had used this service in the past, but have never experienced such unhelpful customer service before.
All I have to say is I am still waiting for two of four books I order over a month ago and I just keep getting the run around. They gave me a second tracking number that for the last two weeks have said label created, we will have more info when we receive the package. To be honest I don't believe they sent the package out. It is easy to create a label and never send the package. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER BOOK FROM THESE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE AGAIN. And I suggest that anyone reading this, BUY YOUR BOOKS ELSEWHERE.
I requested to return a book and received instructions which I followed t th e letter, but one month later have not received a refund and can't contact anyone there. The only option is email which I have not had a response to. I feel.like I've thrown money in the bin. Very disheartening indeed.
I ordered a book from them and never received it. Every time I ask for a refund they tell me they mailed the book and to wait for it. Its been a month. This was the next book in a series I am reading. I was really looking forward to it. World books is more intent on keeping my $6.50 then providing customer service. You buy or sell to them at your own risk. I purchased the book from Second Sale and got it in 5 days.
I ordered 3 seasons of a TV drama. I ordered DVDs. The advert on their site only says DVD for those seasons. When I received the order 2 seasons were BluRayDisc. I have no BluRay player. My two emails with them have met with scripted responses that bore no relation to the error. Twice I asked for them to confirm whether or not they could replace the BluRay with DVD. They never answered.
When I request a full refund and return of them & asked for a pre paid postage label as their T&Cs say they bear the cost when the refund relates to their error. No answer.
I have used them for approximately 5 years. This is the first time I have had a problem and their response has been deplorable.

I had been using WOB for years, no more...
I had been using WOB for years, but recently their quality has dropped - and by a lot! They often send incorrect items or orders with missing items - and take no responsibility for their errors.
Customer service agents are deliberately unhelpful without ever being rude, and talk you in circles rather than ever actually helping. They even went so far as to claim that they were under no requirement to write the correct info on a book (the one I ordered has an incorrect ISBN, description and title). They just kept repeating that they were under no obligation to get the picture right - which was about the only thing they got right in the entire listing!
The same order was missing two other items from it, a total farce.
I was then asked to return the incorrect item via international postage, which literally cost more than the refund! So basically, no book, and less money than I started out with, a totally outrageous result!
Be careful, especially when ordering Used items, as they take little to no responsibility for their mistakes.
(P.S. The uploaded photos show the erroneous Amazon listing they used to copy their incorrect info from, and the other is a photo of what I was actually sent - not the lack of a mention of Slaine the Horned God in the sent item, because it was not included - despite the description, title and ISBN claiming that it did).

Ordered a 'very good' condition hardback. Received a very tatty paperback. WOB's response was "All our listings state that the item picture is for illustrative purposes only, actual binding, cover or edition may vary." So, it doesn't matter what you order, and pay for, WOB can send you any old rubbish they feel like. They even want me to pay to return the book I didn't order and really don't want!

I purchased a book listed as being in "Very Good" condition for $18. The book I received is in terrible condition. The cover/dust jacket is torn and stained. It appears that someone spilled coffee or soda on it. The pages are yellowed and one is completely crumpled and creased. The spine and corners are worn and the naked hardcover has white paint all over it. I requested a return, but have not heard back from them since I provided the photos of this piece of garbage that they requested. It looks like I will have to escalate my PayPal case to get a refund. I will NEVER buy a book from WOB again.

Ordered 'very good' book, which came scratched, dented, and discoloured. Customer service said they disagree the condition is not good enough and state I have to pay to send it back if I want a refund. Not the first time quality hasn't been to par, so I no longer recommend WoB or will be using them again.

I ordered The Pelican Brief by John Grisham, i was sent 'How to look after chickens'. I complained numerous times, by email because you can't speak to anyone. Finally they responded and said sorry we'll send you The Pelican Brief book. They sent me an autobiography of Terry Wogan. Same again, i kept trying to get them to respond to my emails, finally they did, said sorry, we'll send you The Pelican Brief book. They sent me 'How to trace your family tree'. It's a running joke now, which book will they send me next?! I would really like The Pelican Brief book but i'm not holding my breath!

Truly one of the worst sites i have ever used. Sent the wrong item out and then demanded i pay for postage to return before they would refund me. I asked for the correct book to be sent out and they refused to do this. Stay well clear of this badly run operation. Truly awful and shameful service.

Eventually accepted this was mistake but then told me I would need to pay the postage to send back, very bizarre!

Great Seller. Been buying from them for years now. Really pleased with the prices & quality of their rare books which are individually photographed, described and shipped in sturdy cardboard, unlike their regular collection which uses plastic (my one minor complaint). International shipping costs are excellent. On those rare occasions where I've contacted Customer Service over an issue, they have always addressed the matter to my complete satisfaction. Highly recommend.

Not by any stretch of the imagine is scuffed spine (I expect cracked/broken under this category), creased front and back cover, red underscoring and margin marks on several pages, together with turned down corners "Very Good Condition". Three other books were as expected so this really soured the experience.

Purchased 'Very Good' and received 'Poor'. Damaged cover, damaged spine, writing inside, plus staining. Left message for customer service with promise of 48 hr response, nothing to date. Not worth the hassle. Back to Waterstones.
I'm glad to see so many happy customers but, I have not had any response to my complaint. I received a very dirty old library book, I actually don't want to touch it. Blackened paper edges and pages yellowed with age. English library emblem on the inside cover. Be nice to receive some indication that my matter has at least been acknowledged and being assessed.?

Bought 3 Sophie Kinsella books for my daughter for Christmas which were all classed as 'excellent condition'. Unfortunately one had a big price sticker on the front that won't come off, creased edges and and old yellow colour.

See title. No problems. Delivery always prompt. All my orders have been for second hand books and all have looked good as new. Have received hardback copies a couple of times when expecting a paperback. I probably didn't read the small print but it would be nice if it was more obvious.
