We bought in to the bait and switch timeshare presentation. When we arrived our room was small and we had to beg for an ocean view. Despite being represented that we would always have an ocean view and king size beds. Our guests were treated like second class citizens and were insulted and degraded. Unlike the pictures and representations made during the hard press sales presentation we were extremely disappointed. The resort did nothing to try and address these issues and the management was incompetent at best. WARNING DO NOT BUY ANY TIMESHARES AT VIDANTA. I intend on filing a complaint with the Mexican authorities fraud division.
The Vidanta sales force at the Cabo location out and out lied to me. They sold a bill of goods and then changed it all on the contract. Had my first stay at the Cabo resort. Rooms have no heat, and people next door had no hot water. It took the resort 3 days to move them to a new room. Meanwhile, the sales staff again hounded us and lied about their situation. I would not reccomend this organization to anyone.
Vidanta lies and tells you things in person and then you sign all these papers and it turns out you've signed things that they lied to and they coerce and mislead… their customer service, lacks problem-solving, helping and leading you to a good conclusion. I advise you to enjoy the resort, but don't sign anything and be a part of their membership. I have other memberships that I am completely happy with… Thank you for listening and I caution you to heed my advice.
Quality of accomodations, grounds, restaurants and service is outstanding. It doesn't get any better than this.
5 stars!
The people who work here make your time even more enjoyable. The accomodations at all levels are constantly cleaned. Restaurants have a huge variety of food. The pools are everywhere. The site looks over the ocean too. Lots of golf if you play. And soon a huge entertainment center will be next door.
We purchased a timeshare at the Grand Mayan San Jose Del Cabo. Upon receiving our papers we noticed there were many fees involved that we were not made aware of. The sales representative misrepresented what the contract/membership entailed. We had been trying to get out of the timeshare and they were saying its too late to cancel it. Seeking legal means of timeshare contract cancellation. We found a company called Mexican Timeshare Solutions that seemed reliable, Very skeptical about our latest experience. We decided to contact them. The process was very simple; I provided them with everything they needed and cooperated with them to help them do their job. They were always quick to answer my e-mails and phone calls in a very friendly, professional manner. Fortunately we got and we are free of maintenances fees.
DO NOT GO. A scam of a place. They are liars who stole my iPhone 11, even after I had gps location. They did nothing for 4 days and then the phone was no longer in the resort. Now I have to leave the resort and go an hour away to the local police, because this resort is a SCAM.
High pressure sales to get you to the presentation and then even more so to close you in purchasing the timeshare. DO NOT DO IT! They lie and tell you things that make it sound like what you are purchasing is the best (and you are getting a deal) and if you return to the property they pressure you to upgrade. You will just be dumping money into nothing. They even tell you that they can resell it for you in 5 years and to go to them first. They also record you and tell you specifically not to to say that you are buying for resale so you have no recourse. Awful awful awful - now we are stuck with this and they just made a fool of us! This is not an investment - know that clearly. It is just giving them your money and works pretty much like a scam to me.
Vidanta Grand Luxxe Riviera Maya: As long as you stay at the Grand Luxxe rooms are huge, large, new & modern with nice outdoor balconies (request the highest floor or your room will be totally dark because every building is surrounded by jungle. Expect Mosquitoes & shockingly the resort doesn't even have Mosquito spray or coils for guests. They also have no umbrellas in each unit, surprising & badly needed considering it's a rain forest! 1st week we had a unit with no hot water in the sinks, which they never did fix and fridge didn't work, which took them 2 fridge replacements to fix the problem with fridge and freezer both. Parking is such a nightmare I'd recommend using taxis instead of renting a car, especially with mandatory insurance charged by car rental companies.
This place is not for me or my family. We really are very easy to please. This place is just to big, too average and lacks any warmth. Do yourself a favor and run, DO NOT walk away. You can do better at the Holliday Inn Express.
We were pulled into a vacation club presentation during our stay at the Grand Mayan in Riviera. Salesman are very pushy and very convincing. I also feel that a lot of what we were promised has not been delivered. We were told Vidanta World would be opening within the year of us signing up and that still hasn't happened. They try to upsale you at every turn. The "perks" you are given aren't even usable. For example we were "given" a certificate for a 7 night cruise for two. However, you have to pay $1,100 to redeem the certificate. Also, even though two of the four we would have been traveling with are children, we would have had to redeem a second certificate. The certificate is only good for certain cruises and also for an interior room, you can pay to upgrade though. Which seemed like a good deal because we were "given" $3,000 in cruise rewards that I was hoping to use to cover the cost difference. But nope! You can't use a certificate AND cruise rewards at the same time. Ok fine I will search the other cruises on the site and just use the cruise rewards. Also no good because once I found a cruise to book, I called and was told the full amount of cruise rewards cannot be used on a commercial cruise like carnival it can only be used on premier cruises that start at $9,000. So the most the cruise rewards would save me on a carnival cruise was MAYBE $150. I can't even begin to express how much I regret signing up for this stupid vacation club.
They promised one hour and breakfast and it is now 4 hours. They promised to return me and after I said I could not purchase they left me alone not able to know where to go. They gave me not enough cash to get back to my area and I was trapped. They said I needed cash and I only had a credit card. They said to stop at an atm but it was a credit card. I had to ask a taxi handler to give me the extra money so I could return. I felt trapped and was terrified and angry. Stay far far away. They stole one whole day of my vacation.
Was approached in the Mall to a presentation at Vidanta. Was told 1 hr presentation, gift $2000. 00 pesos, Bottle of tequila, lunch, cab ride to & from location. The property is huge, you waste a lot of time walking point A to point B. After you say no to $17,000.00 price tag our agent Enrique got sour quick. Getting your gift is a painful process from one room to the the next & low ballers trying to sell more timeshare. Enrique makes the process even more painful as he goes and hides and stalls to make you wait longer to get off property. When you finally get your gift they didn't pay in Pesos as promised. The gift lady was Super Sour with attitude as well. What makes re could you expect, the whole experience was very greasy.
Vidanta often uses 3rd parties to sell trips, such as "vacation VIP". They can say whatever they want to get you there. Once there you realize you didn't get what you paid for and Vidanta will not help because a "3rd party" sold you. They don't offer any support or apologies of any sort. Instead they sell you on their time share scam. They say you " Don't have to buy anything, but you do have to turn in a credit card."
Unfortunately by the time you realize you're being scammed you're already there with your family.
The place is beautiful. But the staff and system are extremely well trained to scam you.
In Mayan Palace Mazatlan the salesman told us upright lies about our previous contract that we did not have with us in the trip. He made us buy a new contract for ******* US dollars. At home we found out that he was lying about our previous contract. It is so unfortunate that these kinds of scam artist spoil the reputation of beautiful resorts. Don't ever believe these sleeky salesmen!
Salespeople were persistent and we also bought. The cost of the timeshare was agreed upon in our discussions only to find out later when we reviewed the paperwork that the amount we paid was almost $3000. 00 more than the agreed upon amount in the presentation. Vidanta was not willing to work with us to resolve the discrepancies. DO NOT attend these presentations...
I bought a week vaca there at a fundraiser. Decided to go to Playa Del Carmin (been there many times, stayed at gorgeous all inclusives for hundreds less). This place is a scam. The food is over priced, you have to pay to see any entertainment, there's no nightlife unless you buy a dinner package, the pool is huge but nothing special, the beach is horrible, nothing but rocks so you can't swim. My only compliment is that the locals that work there are very nice. The sales people are all liars and scammers. I travel a lot and this is the first place I've ever stayed and seen so many angry guests complaining nonstop and rightfully so. Also I did the timeshare presentation and they promise all sorts of stuff but then you talk to "owners" and they'll tell you they never got half of what was promised. Run people don't stay here. They also sneak hidden fees into your final bill for "charity" so be careful.
Our experience has been horrible with Vidanta! The breakfasts that they beg you to attend and offer you the stars, is when the salespersons are professionals to scam you. We have paid about $33,000 and in two years we have to pay an additional 2 maintenance fees which is almost $5,000... they won after hours of negotiating with them and we gave in which was a big mistake! I advice you to not go to their "free breakfast" which will cost you so much! I tried to cancel a reservation and I had to send a doctor's certificate that the people going and canceling were were sick. They do not represent Mexico with their attitudes! I am very disappointed!
Very Dishonest company! Can't believe anything they say! Tried to cancel by text with our sales rep later the day we signed up! Then when my wife and I got back from Puerto Vallarta we tried following up with cancellation. Then we talked to a person that said they would put it in the system. Thinking it was canceled. Then Decided the next day to send certified mail for cancellation. I was never able to talk to anybody for days! Then found out months later that we missed the deadline by one day! Had to hire an attorney to handle the situation! If I ran my businesses like they do I would've been out of business! Something needs to be done about their business practices! They should not be allowed to continue operating like this!
I was called and offered a promo vacation. This required a $250 deposit to be given back in the form of resort credits and a $114.84 insurance package. I paid all of the above. A week later, I hadn't received my email confirmation and called the agent back. I was told I didn't qualify and shouldn't have been offered the promo even though I wanted to keep it. They said they would refund my money. It took 60 days to get my $250 back but no response on the $114.84 insurance fees. I've called numerous times and they just keep saying it takes more time. It's now going on 90 days and they tell me the same thing, I'll call you back as we check into it. Although, I don't get call backs at all. They really don't value the customer and follow up with THIER vendor. I paid the money to them when they requested it. They should pay me and seek the refund themselves. They just don't have any concerns about helping me get what it mine. By the way, I am a Grand Luxxe owner, the top of the line. I would give them a zero if the rating would let me. DON'T buy a timeshare here.
We had an elegant, magical, perfect and a beautiful wedding at this resort for our daughter. We've been vacationing at Vidanta Riviera Maya for at least 20 years. The resort has beautiful landscapes, professional and wonderful staffs, delicious food and drink, amazing entertainment with Cirque du Soleil, Salum (beachfront eateries bars restaurants), and Havana Moon (beachfront with live entertainment nightly) and several other wonderful restaurants for dinner. Our favorite is breakfast/brunch buffet at Quinto and Del Lago for $25 per person will keep you full until dinner. We love the pools and the beach, and of course miles of the boardwalk throughout the resorts with iguanas and local wildlife and beautiful jungle.
We've always looking forward to come back after each trip to our favorite Summer vacation destination. Thank you Vidanta and Maria L our wedding planner and all the staffs for a memorable beautiful wedding, and Josefina our photographer for the most beautiful pictures and slides show that made us cry with happy tears each time we watched.
