If a seller gets a lowball bid, they must give this bidder 8hrs to negotiate. In the meantime, if a seller gets a bid for full price or even more than full price, they cannot take the bid until 8hrs are up - if you go against this rule you get banned for a week. The problem is, many varage users throw out a bunch of lowball bids on a bunch of stuff to take advantage of this rule, which stalls the marketplace. Sellers dont want to lower their price and they dont want to have to turn down full price bids. Use Facebook marketplace, eBay, or even craigslist before varage. Varage will die eventually if this rule doesnt change, simple market making 101.

I have read several complaints from the reviews on here, and Id like to offer the experiences of someone I know who uses this APP to sell their items! The person, I know has been a member for several years, way over the time frame of another member, and from my understanding has helped out in many ways especially for the undo fairness of others on the site and the actions of a person that my friend, has unfortunately had contact with on this VS selling site. It has recently, come down too, my friend reporting the uncalled for actions of a certain member (for stalking, harassing, bidding, and deliberate reading of messages from other members in the community, to use them in reports for the deliberate removal of my friends account on VS. This selling site has PM'S (private messages) saved. That way any member can share them with whoever they wish too and to who ever they want. That alone is a breach of trust and a violation of privacy. I am told that this selling place internet giant, allows information sharing, reselling, people to be creep ed on, stalked, and brutally harassed, but not only from certain members (who join) but as well i am told from the Admin. After reading these reviews others have said, and what has recently happened to my friend. I am not willing to put an account up, and risk my own personal safety and be spoken too badly by the administrators as I am reading over and over on these reviews its a huge issue causing an un trusting selling site for me to use. Ill continue selling my stuff else where. Everyone's feedback was greatly appreciated.

Its a place lowlifes get to annoy you and creepily stalk you and your possessions. I think this new form of tech is going to slowly destroy the younger minds that have not fully formed yet! As for us older folks if you dont get it well thats just moronic. Selling in todays society has just become a pathetic affair. This site does not even pay it admins so what incentive does an admin have other than a social power trip, it takes a certain kind of woman working two jobs with kids to want to do this for free on her own time. Pathetic stay away cause this place is and so are the people on it.

AWFUL HEADACHE! Use Facebook Marketplace instead. Heck, just wait for garage sales. Shop local thrift stores. Do anything but support this travesty. I was denied acceptance into their "secret cult" because they "could not access my full Facebook account", they "could not verify my name" and "could not see my entire face in my profile picture". Verification, you see. Making sure I am not a Spam Bot. No I see BS and I'm calling VarageSale out! I have my Facebook account locked down, because well, it's my Facebook account. So after 3 days of no response I had to message "admin" only for them to take 2 more days to deny me. This is utter ridiculous. If you want to verify me, let's see, the fact that I REACHED OUT TO YOU, should be an indication that I am NOT SPAM! Oh well, I'm sorry for all of you that do sell stuff on VarageSale. You can thank your local "admin" for another would-be customer telling the truth and moving on.

This site was a headache back in the day when I first signed up. Haven't used it since then. Years! And out of the blue a "Nicole McKenzie"
Messages me saying I need to put a profile pic. I ignored her message so she waits 5 days then messages me again. This time she says my account has been suspended due to me not putting a photo up. How ridiculous! Thanks but NO THANKS Nicole! I do not care to even use the site/app ever again in my LIFE! These "women" have no life but to be harassing members/ex-members about this or that. Stick it where the sun don't shine and leave me alone! The app doesn't even deserve single star. Horrible!

Before I even made an account, I could browse through the site, no problem.
Once I made an account, that's when the difficulties started!
The first time I logged in after creating an account on this horrendous site, I could browse around, unimpeded. In fact, my partner also browsed around, on my account. We found some cool items, which we added to my favorites, on the site. All was well, at the time. Remember, this is my first time on the site after I created an account.
The next time, my second time on the site, I was unable to browse anything. Everything suddenly was inaccessible to me, even though I had created an account. When I reached out to the sites support, I was told I needed to have a profile picture. I didn't think anything of it, so I googled a pic that resembled me, and posted it. When I next checked in on the site, I was still unable to access the site. I again contacted support, and was told I couldn't use a googled pic as my profile pic. So then I took a pic of myself with my cell, with my hand in a "live long and prosper" sign in front of most of my face. You could still see one eye and half my face, and all my hair. I didn't think anything of it, until I checked in again a few days later, and was told I could use that pic either. I had to have a pic that showed my entire face.
I do not have a pic of my actual face anywhere on the internet, and I do not believe anyone should have to show their real face unless they are meeting up with that person, to buy or sell the item for sale.

04/2018: I am still finding VS to be a great platform for buying and selling. While reading the other reviews I observe that the low ratings seem to revolve around bad experiences with sellers rather than the APP itself. There is no real way to control human behavior (My experience is that members do get revoked if needed). The Tech support is like no other. You can't contact other platforms and get "real people" assistance like you do from this APP.

I find the messaging feature to be great -- messages cannot be "shared" screenshot and passed on yes, but that can be said for any messaging system (FB, email, etc.)
As for people buying and re-selling, I don't understand the problem - you sold it, got what you wanted for it now the item belongs to someone else to do as they please.
11/2017: I find VS to be a very organized way to buy and sell.
I love that it is pretty much kept local. Please don't let a few negative reviews keep you from trying it. I read through several of the reviews here. I have found that if you treat VS as a garage sale things run pretty smooth. ALWAYS - inspect items before turning over cash, follow the community specific rules, and treat others the way you expect to be treated. You cannot blame the Admins for poor ethics on the part of a buyer or seller. Admins seem to do the best they can at enforcing rules. Communities I belong to encourage reporting issues. They are recorded and if a trend develops the member risks membership privileges. One, even two reports does not constitute a trend. If something seems fraudulent or illegal, report to local authorities then notify Admin with copy of paperwork. If convicted there are more grounds for revocation.

There are grown $#*! woman who complain to the administrator like a little girl just because she is incompetent and can not read. Just because she wanted my items, she thought she was the one who should get them when there multiple people who showed interest first. So she goes to the administrator who then kicks me off of the community just because Diana said it was an issue. The only issue is ignorance. I actually feel very upset about the situation and I have also been falsy consequenced. I will not EVER use this app again.

My feelings often change on VarageSale. A lot of good comes out but also a lot of bad. There are a few notorious members who are known for scamming many members and yet they remain on the site, unbanned. It's confusing as to why their memberships have not been revoked when people report them for taking items off of their porch and not paying for it, or people who consistently no show. * is one known offender who constantly scams others. This woman has wrecked havoc and has a poor reputation yet remains on the app and continues to take others money. I hope that admins can get the training they need in order to keep the site safe and running smoothly for everyone in the community.

Low ratings for holding members to conduct and location standards? Sounds like sour grapes to me. I'm a mom buying stuff for my family and often have my kids in the car with me. I'm not meeting some random stranger in a parking lot. VarageSale admins make sure members meet the guidelines for the community in my area, and hold them accountable for their actions. No unsolicited $#*! pics here - people who don't follow rules of common courtesy are removed.
