My card did not work and contacted customer service. I emailed the information in 5 different times and called 4 times. Given the same answer each time. The last call I was on the phone for over an hour and a half and had a supervisor finally that ended up hanging up on me. My issue is still not resolved and it has been over 2 weeks. Stay away from this company and their products. They are terrible!
I called to the phone customer service to check the balance on the card. The automated operator ask me tricky questions for security, 5+8 answered 13. But it told me I was wrong and cut off my phone call. I try 2 more times the same thing happened :(? What kind of costumer service it's this. I never seeing this issue with any other company. My Dad got this for me as a Christmas gift 150$ I used it once at Walmart for a hot wheels car it worked just fine but the next day I wanted to buy something on ebay and it says "your payment didn't go through" and it kept saying that I didn't know how bad it was until I was reading people's conversations here. I feel bamboozled, wondering if this card is gonna work other places but it does not what so ever work online I've tried ebay. Xbox. Ps4. It just not work. I have no idea it was this bad and I hope people get there Money back. As for my dad I have to tell him in the morning he might have been scammed.
I had 8 vanilla gift cards compromised from purchases in California (I live in Illinois) before I used them.
I am out $600 and Vanilla Gift does nothing to correct the situation. Their dispute process is ridiculous and calling is even worse. Nobody you talk to can do anything (after extreme hold times) and they simply do not back up their product. Do not purchase from Vanilla Gift as they are unreliable and unresponsive.
I received a Vanilla Gift Card as a present and tried to use it online but was unable to do so because the zip code didn't match. I used the zip code of the person who purchased the gift card and I used my personal zip code it did not work. VANILLA GIFT CARDS DO NOT USE ZIP CODES so you are $#*! out of luck shopping online. I was gifted a $50 vanilla gift card for my birthday. I activated the card and made several attempts to use it. After confirming the balance and the card still declining I called the support line. I waited 45 minutes. The first representative told me that the merchants that I went to (Walmart, HEB, Target…) did not accept payment from cards that didn't display a first and last name. This sounded crazy to me because they are sold at each of those locations. So I asked who am I able to make purchases with using the cards and the representative couldn't answer so I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor I got said his name was Robin. Robin, who was completely condescending and unprofessional, told me something completely different. Robin said that there are restrictions placed on the card and that it needed to be escalated and that it should be free in 24 hours. I asked follow questions like why the restrictions if the company had been paid the money loaded on the card. Why not let someone know when checking the balance that there is a waiting period? But all he kept saying is check back in 24 hours, in which I replied thanks you have been extremely unhelpful. Then Robin replied that he can cancel my escalation because I didn't appreciate his help. He was baiting me into an argument. The point was that he didn't assist me and he didn't help. I still couldn't use the card and I am still unable yo do so. This is not how you run a business and this is not how you treat customers. You can't take payment and not perform your service and expect people to be okay with it.
There are no numbers for contacting them and balance of $1.32, but cannot purchase item for $1.00? Thieves collecting customer balances.$1.32 every customer x 1000 = $5200 stolen dollars. Need a lawsuit! Secure spend same!
Bought a gift card for Christmas, went to use it on the 26th and would not work. Called and someone already used it earlier that day. Tried to get a hold of someone and all I got was prompts to help with issue, no live person. Trying to get my money back, good luck with that. I guess I'm out over a $100.00. Never buy another Vanilla gift card.

Received this as a gift at a work gift exchange. The gifter did not write the amount on the gift card. Since this was a "pot luck" gift exchange (every one buys a smallish gift, it's assigned a number and we all draw numbers from a bowl and get the gift assigned with that number) I have no idea who purchased the gift card.
Tried to activate several times on the website and kept getting an error message; also couldn't check the balance.
Called the customer service number on the card and was informed I had to provide them with a copy of my driver's license, my birthdate, home address, email address, photos of the front and back of the gift card and the receipt (which I explained multiple times I don't have and can't get) in order to "raise a claim" and have the gift card replaced. They would not provide any information on what the problem or "error" was and even a supervisor wasn't helpful. This was an "off-shore" call center and I was informed they do not have any US based representatives that can assist.
I refused to provide the information they requested so now they get to just keep the money that was loaded on the card because I'm not comfortable providing an off-shore call center rep with information that could easily be used to compromise my identity.
Do not buy these cards. I looked up reviews after that 40 minute call and found I am not the only one who has had this issue. They are also being sued by the state of California. Go figure.
This company is a scam. I NEVER write reviews like this. They STOLE $178.95 of my money. The website is intentionally misleading when it says you can use the card anywhere. NEWSFLASH - YOU CAN'T. This company should be sued and dug into the ground in every incarnation in which they find themselves. DO NOT engage with this company. It is the worst experience you will ever have buying a gift. I wish I had known before my horrible experience. I hope this helps someone else avoid the same horror I've been through with them.
I recently purchased 4 gift cards for my grandkids, mailed them, but one got lost. Called the number on the back of the remaining cards and the person asked for the card information for the remaining 3 so they could figure out which one was missing. I gave them the information and they gave me a case number and told me they would get back to me.
I called back after gathering some additional information only to be hung up on when I told them I had a case number. Suspicious, I checked the balances on the 3 cards I had and sure enough, all 3 had been drained of all funds.
So, one of their own employees scammed me out of the money rather than helping me.
This is the last time I will purchase a Vanilla Gift card.
When filling out information it asks for a name " don't put your name on it, put the name of the card like "Vanilla", problem solved

My balance of $106.45 was used by some one on www.sumtub.com. Contacted sumtub,com for transaction details. No reply from them. Never purchased anything online with the card. The physical card is with me. Never been on www.sumtub.com in my life. How someone use my card when physical card with me and never purchased anything online with the card.

I received one of these as a birthday present. No place on the card OR the packaging does it say that this card has to be activated to use it, once purchased from the store. I attempted to use it at a store and it was declined. I went online figured out that it had to be activated. I tried to do that and got an error message every time. I finally called today and they have locked the card. Now they want a copy of the card, my ID and the receipt and if my friend doesn't have the receipt, they want me to ask him to go back to the store to have them pull the receipt. They won't even start "investigating " until they have these documents. At this point, if you just wanted to steal my friends money just say that. Someone needs to put together a class action lawsuit against this company because they are nothing but scam artist.

Answer: Same here. Called in and they said it was locked for my protection against a fraudulent merchant, which makes no sense since I just opened it myself and used it at a trusted store. Call in and they can re-issue a new card, though that will take several weeks to arrive
