Many customers report feeling scammed due to lost funds and inadequate support, with lengthy wait times for resolutions and replacement cards. While a few customers have had success using the cards at limited locations, the majority express frustration and caution against purchasing these cards, highlighting a trend of distrust and disappointment in the brand's reliability.

Worst card ever I loaded $130 in this card and doesn't let me use and no customer service to help! DO NOT BUY
I received a Vanilla gift card as a gift from someone, I used it twice it went through fine, I used it today and the store said it had declined and I was not able to finish using it. People please do not purchase these gift cards, they are a scam.
No Security Code on card, won't activate in any stores, no customer service to speak to - just an endless runaround in the telephone auto menu. This company should be deactivated! We have cards worth $400 - this must be a scam.
I recieved two of these gift cards and neither worked! The merchant and I tried several times. I went on line and the notice said that there is an error and try later. This happened four times! I called for customer service and was on hold for over an hour. My friends are out over $125! Someone should investigate this company.
My husband was given a $100 Vanilla gift card for Christmas. He went to use the card today to find a zero balance on it because it was used 3 times in California and we're in Texas. Scam artists!
Customer service is just about non existent.
I was given a 50.00 card. When I went to use it there was only 3.19 left. I've never used the card. I called customer service and after several calls finally got thru. I had to file a dispute and that department came back and said the transactions were valid. I asked for proof and they said they considered the case closed and wouldn't provide me proof of receipts.
La compre y estaba mal hecha, solo co 12 numeros y sin codigo de seguridad y nada de resolver el problema perdi el dinero.
Received a vanilla gift card for Christmas. Although initially excited, that ended quickly. I tried to use at four different stores and would not accept. Checked online and my money was there. Called customer service and was assured my money was there. Called customer service 3 times, each time, waiting an hour. Finally I was issued a new card. When my card arrived it was unable to be activated because the 11 digit # was on the bottom of the back of the card. Now I am waiting for a new card. Something that should be so simple WAS NOT Due to this experience, I would never purchase these cards as a gift and I hope never to receive another.
I have been to 3 different stores in the past 4 days trying to use the card. I have checked, it is activated, has a balance of $50, and i have used a PIN, and tried credit. NOTHING! I called, got no where. Tried online, and there is a disclaimer, if your card is declined, and you have the available funds, try shopping online? This is BS. I cant get help anywhere.
I have a balance on my gift card, but I cannot use it absolutely anywhere online. I try to contact customer service, but they are nonexistent. It's not a gift it's a headache
Purchased a gift card loaded it with 25.00 and the next day all of the money except 4.80 vanished from the card at 5am. The resolution department opened a claim and emailed me stating they found no discrepancies with the card. The company in itself is not legitimate and the need to be investigated and banned from the United States.
Do not ever buy anything from this company, they will not let you make purchases and then steal your money. Worst Christmas ever
It is very hard to use one of these cards. They do not contain the address of the person, so the zip code is invalid. I was finally able to use it on the Target site.
There are no people to talk to at VanillaGift, and their recordings/website just say to use another merchant. The Merchants say that it isn't their problem, the card issuer won't authorize the transaction.
In short, I will NEVER use this company again.
Bought five of these for Christmas stocking stuffers. Got worried immediately when my daughter told me she had read some terrible reviews about how difficult they are to fully use. I scoffed and told her Visa, Sam's Club, Walmart, etc. wouldn't deal with a ripoff company. It took one day after Christmas to prove I was wrong. My wife attempted to use a $100 card to buy an $84.00 + tax item at Hobby Lobby. No go. The cashier tried numerous ways to run it. All were declined. She gave up. The next day she tried the same card at Sam's Club against an item over $100. She told the clerk to run $100 first against the Vanilla card and then the remainder of the cost against our normal Sam's card. No go. Then she tried to run $90 against the Vanilla card. No go. Then she tried $90 one more time but didn't put in the PIN when it asked for it. It finally took the transaction. She finally got $9.99 of the last $10 on the card in the same way. She told Sam's that the Vanilla card was bought there and she wouldn't leave until they ran it successfully. It's also almost impossible to talk to anyone at Vanilla about the extreme difficulty in using the entire balance on these cards. I would bet that the average usage on these cards is far less than the face value of the cards. It's really a pretty sharp and probably legal scam. I just can't believe all these name brand retailers do business with a product provider that provides a product that receives consumer reviews that are this bad. I'm writing Walmart and Sam's Club a complaint letter.
My son and I each received Vanilla Visa gift cards for Christmas. First, the emails received did not include all the information needed to use them. The gift giver had to resend and we received a photo of a gift card, which could not be printed out. I wrote the numbers on a sticky note, but of course that would not be accepted at stores in town, the bank (they said they would need a scannable card), or to pay existing bills. I used mine to make a donation to one of my favorite causes online, but when I tried to check and make sure the payment went through, there was a ridiculous test to click on the X or click on the rabbit's eye. Kept getting error codes and could not get through to check the balance. Could not reach a human to resolve issue. I have told the card giver to never, ever use Vanilla Gift cards again! Beware! This is a scam!
As of this moment I still have money on the card, but for some reason keeps getting declined. Doesn't matter where it is, it'll be declined even if I go inside do credit or debit with pin. Customer service (if you wanna call them that) absolutely didn't do anything other than the obvious response " follow the directions on the back of the card or website". All three of theses options for me still had the same outcome, money in card and active but still declined. What really makes this frustrating is the lack of customer service training for what this problem was. Irritated to the point I had to find out other reviews were pretty much the same thing, this card is $#*!, company is $#*!, I'm owed money back but they couldn't care less. $#*! vanilla gift card
You can't activate the cards. You follow the prompts & they tell you entered a invalid #...after 3 trys they change up...I went to the website, it says something went wrong
Card says I have a balance of two dollars remaining after only spending 22 off of a $100 card. The card also says that I have a $75 hold don't know why.
Horrible! Purchased 150.00 for Xmas gift for grandson. I tried to activate it when I tried there was NO Security code in back. I called was told to use the swipe method. Of course Did NOT work. I'm trying to get replacement they giving runaround and now want MY ID why?! I have emailed receipt purchase. I have reported to Better Business Bureau I suggest everyone do the same. It's the principal.
I purchased a gift card from Vanilla Gift and when it arrived it was damaged and the card number was rubbed off. I have been trying to contact Vanilla Gift for 3 days and have been put on hold for over an hour each time. Finally I was given and number to call and they took all my information. Then they told me I had to call some other office because they don't handle "replacements" It's the same number I've been calling for 3 days. As I type this, I'm on hold AGAIN with that annoying voice saying to stay on the line. Lousy customer service!
Answer: Same here. Called in and they said it was locked for my protection against a fraudulent merchant, which makes no sense since I just opened it myself and used it at a trusted store. Call in and they can re-issue a new card, though that will take several weeks to arrive
Answer: I would say the fraud dept but I had no luck when I opened a fraud case with them. Good luck!
Answer: A very long time. First time I ever got the card and never again. Sickening.
