Stay away from vanilla Gift cards. This company is horrible. I purchased 2 gift cards from them 6 months apart the numbers were scratched and the magnetic strip did not work. When I called vanilla the gave me the run around. It is now almost 6 months and the have not resolve the issue. I went to cvs where I purchased the cards and the manager said they do not refund gift cards. He was nice enough to let me know that the best way to resolve this issue was directly with my bank and make a dispute. I can't believe I did not think of this before. So I think now it is finally going to be solved. I can't believe VISA hired this VANILLA company. So again save yourself lots of headaches. This VANILLA company should not be allowed to do business.

Received one of these gift cards from a friend and it's been almost completely unusable. The card is activated and everything on the site where I can check the balance says it is ready to use, but it is constantly declined. ONE time it randomly worked, but 50 other times I have tried it and it gets declined, even with the same vendor with which it worked the one time. Of course they don't have any kind of chat or email support, you have to either call or mail them a physical letter. I've tried calling and given up each time after being on hold for 30+ minutes. This really should be considered fraud.

And after that I followed up my case every single month, all they can say that they are sorry and they will get in touch. It's been 3months and nothing happened. I was given a vanilla Visa debit card to pay a bill online. I tried to do so repeatedly, but was unable to make the payment go thru myself, so I called to make the payment over the phone. She couldn't make it go thru either. All she needed to make it go thru was Vanilla's zip code. No zip code was given in any pamphlet, on the original receipt, or on the back of the card, so I called numerous #s to get a live Vanilla rep. I was told that since the card was generic, and the company I needed to pay money to required a zip, I should use the card at another place. Basically? You can't use your card where we don't want you to, and I now own a piece of plastic that cost $70. What a waste of money.

First, October 13th i bought a 500.00 gift card from a Walgreens. 4 of the numbers were missing so I called the number on the back. They told me to send them pictures, the card, id, reciepts... They said it would take 30 day to resolve the issue. I purchased another card, I opened and cheched the card first... Just to find that VanillaGift cards DO NOT WORK on PAYPAL, AMAZON, and EBAY... SO what gives...They still owe me 500 bucks...any lawyers in the house, i have all the reciepts from me taking my cash out of the bank to purchasing the 500 piece of plastic i can not use.
I have purchased many gift cards and pre paid cards in the past and have never been so disappointed and felt like I'm being ripped off. Back in September I purchased a gift card for $500. I tried to use it to make an online purchase with a company that I have made many purchases with in the past. Without my knowledge or consent they not only said my purchase was flagged but they cancelled my card. Since this date I have called the customer service multiple times. They have been rude, condescending and just unpleasant. I was told a new card was mailed that I never received and when I told them I want a refund they said they could not provide one because another card has been mailed. Again today 2 months later, I was told another card would be mailed. I told them I wanted it overnight delivery and was told they cannot do that. So now another 7 to 10 business days to probably be disappointed once again. I will never use this company for anything again and recommend that no one else does either. I will be lodging a complaint with CVS also. That is where I purchased this headache. It's been 2 months and I still have to wait weeks to probably receive nothing back. If you could give negative stars I would do so.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I was given a $100 Vanilla Gift card for Christmas last year. I used $23 off the card, then noticed it kept getting declined. In June 2023 I logged on to check my balance, and saw $76 was spent off my card in March 2023 at "Sbfreyusa." I did not make this purchase, and immediately disputed it with Vanilla gift when I noticed this charge. 2 months after my dispute case I was notified Vanilla Gift closed my case, as the fraudulent transaction was not reported within 60 days. I fought the results of my dispute, and received an email in September from Vanilla gift stating "We issued you a refund for the balance left on the card." After an hour and 15 mins on the phone with vanilla gift yesterday checking on the status of this refund, I was told rudely that they would not be issuing me a refund because my dispute was denied. The woman claimed I "must have been sent that email in error." I don't understand how this company is still in business with their piss poor customer service and dispute policy.
Paypal and anything that uses it (cashapp, venmo) are some examples, they've blocked ebay usage, apple pay, etc. These are practically useless for 95% of online purchases now (it NEVER used to be this way, you could link your card to everything, and now its so incredibly restricted) I HIGHLY recommend you avoid purchasing these cards if you're looking to get something online, just avoid this.
I won 2 gift cards at work, they purchased them at Safeway., THey total 1000.00 Vanilla froze both cards over a month ago, I have called and called finally they emailed me a form to fill out, I did that right away they said they would respond with in ten days. Its been 30 and no response, I call them again and they ask me to resend the form and just like before they said you will recceive a response in ten days but they could not explain why it had to be resent... The plastic code at the back of the card was damaged, tried to use ones at supermarket but didn't work. Called costumer service to send me a new one. SURPRICE the balance is 000.00 is been use at Target ( never did that transaction)my balance was 100.00.
