No Accountability

I numerous problems with rental with maintenance & safety issues. Called, emailed numerous times & only get the blank statement "hope we get a chance to make us to you"! How many times have stated toso many customers throughout the years & just through the others reviews & comments! No accountability or changes to their service for many years!

Undisclosed Fees

I happen to select a rental on VRBO, that I found out later is through Vacasa. I had to pay a service fee of $500.00 to Vacasa plus a $580.00 service fee to VRBO. These fees are in addition to the cleaning fee, owner fees, plus they charged me for insurance that I do not need. This was not disclosed anywhere. I am so MAD. Then I found out that my dog is not welcome unless I pay $$; the only reason I rented this property is because it is pet friendly. The fees and taxes are more than the actual cost of the rental. GREED,GREED, GREED.

We reserved a condo and selected trip insurance through Vacasa. We needed to cancel our trip. After waiting on hold for 30 minutes we were told by Vacasa that they could not help us, but we needed to cancel through the insurance company. The trip insurance company required filing a claim, including medical documentation, which would take a month to approve. That meant we would not know if our claim was approved until well after our trip was cancelled. Very poor service all-around.

Use Anyone Else!

If you would like to be arguing with Customer Service for your ENTIRE vacation, then Vacasa is your rental co.
Firstly, our unit in Hali'i Kai stated "oceanfront and ocean view". Hah! Hysterical! If you squint your eyes tightly, you may be able to see the water miles away in the distance.
And, simple requests that were made months in advance, such as twin beds being converted into a queen and a late-checkout, was like asking for the absolute impossible.
After 6 emails back and forth in regards to the bed conversion(which we have done in many VRBO and ABB props) consisted of Vacasa pushing the twin beds together and throwing a sheet overtop.
Now, on our last two days here, we are arguing with CS about the late-checkout we were told would be "a simple phone call 48 hours prior to departure".
"Not possible" they now tell us. Unbelievable.
A first and LAST for Vacasa!

Perfect Get Away
November 16, 2021

From walking in the door and feeling right at home to the incredible views from the dining room to the living room. Looking for a get away? I highly recommend this condo. And yes, Vacasa made us feel right at home.

Fraudulent listing
December 29, 2022

We rented a house through Vacasa at 146 Mossy Creek Lane on Sugar Mountain, NC. It was not clean on our arrival at 4 PM on December 26. Vacasa customer Service was notified of the problem within an hour of us checking in. We also received notification that the hot tub was not working and no ETA when it might be fixed. We are skiing and rented the house for the hot tub amenity. The game room was not in working order but not listed as so. We flew in from all I've the country and were unable to find another lodging, forcing us to stay in unsanitary living conditions, a shell of a house. As we checked out the poor petty was still not cleaned by a cleaning service. DO NOT RENT WITH VACASA.

Shame!
June 26, 2021

They cancelled our beach house less than 48 hours before our trip was to begin. Saying the property was no longer available. The 'relocation' team then told us there was ZERO availabilty at any property on the eastern seaboard. They were kind enough (sarcasm) to offer my money back ($8000+) but were unable to find us another location or reimburse us for deposits on fishing charters and other excursions. The 10 person trip, including folks travelling from all over the US (one coming from NY) had to be cancelled all travel cancelled with nothing more than an "WE APOLOGIZE for the INCONVENIENCE!".

If I cancelled the trip with 48 left before the trip what would the outcome be? I'd lose the trip and be out all my money. But they cancel it? No penalty to them.

Pretty terrible system they have. They should be ashamed of themselves.

DO NOT USE VACASA

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. They cancelled my trip (I have proof via email), would only offer a credit but told them I could not use. I called multiple times and they refused to refund me... trip was almost $3,000. I filed a complaint with my bank and Vacasa lied to my bank and said I cancelled the trip to get out of refunding me. DO NOT BOOK with this company. IT IS A SCAM. Their site says if they cancel your trip you have the option to a full refund but that is not the case. Would not be surprised if they go out of business soon. Do yourself a favor and book your vacation through another reputable company.

Looks Like a Phishing Scam
September 12, 2022

We booked a property through Priceline and were told that the balance of the payment would be paid at the property. We then received an email from vacasa asking for payment. When starting the process to make a payment, you get asked your birthday then questions for information that would only be on your credit report, like how long you have been in your house and information about what a provided address means (it was a previous address). I did not think any of this is necessary and replied that way. We then received and email that we had 24 hrs to provide a "good" credit card. A couple hours later, Priceline canceled the reservation saying our credit card was declined (our reservation with priceline was over the phone and was initially accepted). Beware!

Do not rent from VACASA
September 5, 2020

I paid $1900 to reserve a rental house in Hawaii during a week in August before the COVID crisis hit. Because Hawaii beaches were closed, and the state required a 14 day quarantine, and our stay was only one week, I tried to cancel. Vacasa would only offer me another week next year. No help to me at all. My family cannot guarantee that we will all be able to schedule our vacations at the same time next year. I did not want to reschedule, I wanted a refund. Vacasa said only the owner of the property could grant me a refund, but Vacasa refused to give me the owner's email. I lost every penny of my $1900. NEVER AGAIN.

Terrible and Unfriendly Customer Service

I booked a vacation stay for my elderly mother and I at a cottage home in Maggie Valley, NC. We had to cancel due to my mother becoming ill. We were not given a refund and were treated with unprofessional people at Vacasa. I DO NOT recommend them to anyone!

Never use this company. I was bored in to a gross, dirty, smelly place. I have them a weeks heads up to make sure it was clean due to past reviews, they didn't clean. My family and I decided we couldn't be comfortable in such a dirty place so we left to stay in a condo. I called vacasa asking for a refund being that we didn't stay due to their lack of customer satisfaction. They said no, so we lost out on that money. Very shameful. If you're wrong then make it right to your customers.

Do NOT BOOK with Vacasa. Our condo was filthy when we arrived. For 5 days Vacasa assured us that someone would come re-clean but they never did. They finally offered a $50 refund, which is s joke! Shame on Laketown Wharf for allowing Vacasa to own condos in their building.

I recently had a reservation with Vacasa and had to cancel due to an emergency. I had rental insurance on the trip but cant get anyone from Customer Service to return my call. I called Friday and talked with Carlesha and she told me to contact her back if I had not heard from insurance by 4 pm so I called her back and still no response. It is now Wednesday and I have been trying to reach her and Nicole but no one will return the call. Do NOT ever waste your time or money on getting their vacation insurance. This is very bad Customer Service and pray no one ever has to deal with this. I will never use or recommend Vacasa again.

Wendy, we are sorry for the delay in service received, as our call and email volume was extremely high during this time. Guests are encouraged to use the contact information given by the Trip Protection agency as they would handle your refunds and cancellations, per the policy. They would, in return, contact us, instructing us on the next phase. We have since hired additional staff to assist guests more quickly and efficiently. Clueless
September 15, 2022

Booked a condo at Hilton Head for 4 nights. While driving to the resort we received a phone call saying the a/c unit was making a noise and someone would be there between 3-4 that afternoon. Since we weren't going to arrive till 4 we assumed it would be fixed on or about upon our arrival. Guess what when we checked in and went to the unit it was NOT FIXED. It gets better we drive back to their office folks there had no clue it was broken.
On top of that the unit was a piece of poop. Rust on a 25 yr old refrigerator. The stove was horrible.

Do NOT. Do business with these folks they are clueless

Unreliable!

I booked a 5 berm home with a pool for my kids and grandkids to spend the week with us. Now, I get a message saying the house is no longer available. I can choose to have a refund or choose another Vacasa home. They don't have another 5 berm home in the location we are going so choosing another home from their list is not an option. The only other option I have is an addition $4800! Had I cancelled, I would have taken a hit with a partial refund. Vacasa just simply walks away without any impact to them!

Had the worst experience with a vacasa rental. I paid over $2000 for 4 nites@ we shell sea rental in Jamaica Beach TX. We had to clean the filth from the tables and counters. We had to was the bed covers, clean the silverware and plates etc. After 3 nites we noticed all the dirt in the a/c return and the fact there was no filter. Then we found old food on pans and pots. This was the last straw. We left that day and all we got was our cleaning fee back. They are not responsible for the rentals they advertise and don't care.

We rented a home from Vacasa through Home and Villas by Marriott - shame on Marriott for not better researching their partners. We arrived to discover a filthy, disgusting place that was uninhabitable. The house didn't resemble the pictures on their website; it was clearly misrepresented. We couldn't stay there and had to book a hotel last minute. To add insult to injury, Vacas refused to fully refund our money. AVOID VACASA.

While Vacasa can not be personally responsible for each property when we contacted them with issues of room cleanness we had a "reclean" that lasted less than 5 minutes and still had as many issues as we did before 'reclean". We offered Vacasa a resolution to our issue which was to refund us our money for this property and assist us in finding a suitable property in the area that we could rent. That was no an acceptable resolution for Vacasa but us staying in a dirty room sure was for them because there was no further attempts for them to correct this issue.

Kitchen not functional, poor maintenance
February 10, 2023

In January 2022 I used Vacasa for the first time for a four night rental at a cabin at Northstar, CA. Unfortunately, the stove and oven were not functional - they would heat a little but not on high enough heat to cook/bake. Vacasa did send out maintenance to confirm this around dinner time and we were promised a portable stove but this was not delivered. The appliances were outdated in this home (1990s?) such that it was only a matter of short time that they failed. Vacasa called this nonfunctional kitchen a mear inconvenience and offered $80 for a >$2000 stay even though this ruined our dinners and the home was advertised to have a kitchen. They also said they would close an open high up window that resulted in an uncomfortable heating situation but made no effort to do so. I have never had such a poor experience with a short home rental.
