I have been with Upwork as a Freelancer from the beginning when they merged with Elance. Once you decide on your work category you need to bid on as many projects as you can. In my case it is voice overs and within a week of my joining I had an offer to work on a clients project and I was thrilled. Work rules from Upwork are strict and if you follow the guide lines the work will come. Make sure your client has posted the escrow before you start a job and ask questions of your client so there is no misunderstanding. You can work full time or part time, your choice. Alan M.
I am a copywriter and I have had wonderful experience with meeting great clients who are very communicative and it has been a wonderful experience growing my skills and my portfolio! I highly recommend.
I thought i was hiring a freelancer from the USA, turns out he was from and African country.
Upwork allows fake profile images, fake country locations and fake work skills to be displayed on their platform.
This cost me big on a job that was completed not to the specified request.
Upwork do not care when the work is of low quality or does not meet the contract specs, they say they are not responsible for this and i just have to work it out with the freelancer who refuses to refund my money.
This will not make any judgements if the customer is not happy with the work, so you are stuck with no satisfactory job completion and no refund.
I have worked on many freelancing platforms for the past 2 years. I started working on Upwork in May 2020 and since then I loved working on it. Upwork is the best freelancing platform I have ever worked on.
I've been using Upwork since the beginning of my Freelance Career and so far I've had nothing but a wonderful experience. I've helped some friends joining the community since it worked well for me and now my friends are also spreading the word.
A big thank you to the Upwork team!
Was quite happy with Elance until Upwork took over, then I noticed a decline in job offerings, pay and general customer service. When I called to finally close my account after dealing with one too many issues, the rep on the phone didn't seem to care when I told her how disappointed I was with Upwork. Don't waste your time.
Thank you for helping me grow! You have helped me to discover of my potential. I have been invited for many job posts and been hired more than I have expected. I have just started this August 2020 but the opportunity is really overwhelming! Kudos Upwork!
I am a teacher by profession. But I also worked as a graphic designer for about 5 years. I use this knowledge of mine to work at Upwork as an additional source of income. Of course I have made a considerable amount of money so far.
I am really enjoying working with different clients at this platform. It gives you a number of opportunities to present your skills and portfolio to clients and get work remote work. I will highly recommend it to anyone who wants to make a career as a freelancer.
I am lucky that I have worked with the best clients thus far. Only one customer is kind of absconding with this final escrow. But apart from that, I have only met with gems. That said, I have applied for various jobs with great excitement. It is not the money that turns me on, in the first place. It is the thrill and joy of working on an engagement that is close to my heart. However, on many occasions, I have sadly realized that requirements are posted but the respective clients do not look at them for days on end. They either never look at these ads, or look at them but do not respond to applicants. Eventually, these posts just fade away, for want of a better word. I hope Upwork has a mechanism to manage this, in the interest of all the stakeholders; the freelancer, the client, and the platform. The second category of the client is the one who never confirms the payment details, offers a low rate, but expects the moon and something else.
Got linked up with a freelancer and it was going well until I realized there was no way this person could accomplish the task, and then you are just screwed. The freelancer was making 8th grade graphics, literally thought it was a joke when it first was submitted. I would never use this site again because of the process, you should get a trial period to see if the person can actually do what you are looking for.
Do not ever use this site, and if you do then know how much risk you are taking. I'm sure there are good freelancers on there but few and far between, good luck hunting.
The platform is made very thoughtfully: to protect the rights of both the freelancer and the employer.
The platform gives you the opportunity to make a real start to your career.
I am glad to continue to cooperate with Upwork.
Had small job started by freelancer. Was so bad I fired him. He billed me for $80 for time spent working on a project which he never delivered, and for sample work that was so bad I couldn't even use that. Contested with PayPal, which was denied. Disputed with Upwork, which was denied.
Beware - PayPal protection absolutely useless and Upwork protection a joke. DO NOT USE. There are others... or you get someone local that understands English and has some degree of ethics.
Try to keep away from this platform. You risk to be tricky by lots of scammers protected by them or to be humiliated by their `gurus` in forum. Their behavior is very violent and you will be verbally abused by a three or more them at the same time. The worst experience ever.
Upwork is a platform for online jobs, depending on your profession, you can easily find jobs related to that profession. It is easy to communicate with clients and a very secure way to earn money based on your skills. Will recommend it to every person in the world, who loves to work online!
I've been working as a freelancer on Upwork over a year to get remote jobs.
It's a very, very good place to get jobs - reliable, good support, good clients and jobs.
I'd recommend Upwork to all who wants to get a good and reliable remote job - try and you'd get it in days or in few months.
Worked my way up from
$4/hr at age 19 to $80/hr now that I'm 23.
What I've noticed is that 90% of the clients can't affiord my rates. But that's fine.
What's not fine is the way Upwork is managed. You'll understand what I'm saying after you use Upwork for a year. There's a lot of idiots working at Upwork's corporate offices.
I work on Upwork from 2017 and I want to share with you my experience of working on this great platform. Before Upwork platform I had a lot of clients that underestimated my skills and always tried to pull the price down for the work I did. Also nothing guaranteed the payment from clients I worked with. Being on Upwork my salary grows up every year and I always know that my work will be paid in time due to Upwork contracts system. I can say a lot of good things about this platform! I'm very satisfied! Now I always have work and long term clients that I satisfied with. Thanks Upwork for this opportunity! I highly recommend this platform for anyone who want to be successful!
As a freelance writer & editor, I am so happy I stumbled upon this site! Upwork is a fabulous, fair play for obstaing new clients and making quick money. Their rates are fair, and the option for instant payment is
Much appreciated. I highly recommend Upwork, and plan to stick with it for a very long time.
In my opinion Upwork is by far the best platform available for freelancers. I have been on fiverr and freelancer but Upwork is the one I recommend. There are things to be done, and the good thing is Upwork is constantly trying to upgrade it to match with needs of clients as well as freelancers.
Answer: They are horrible. Every freelancer I've gotten from Upwork has cost me more to fix the small job they have done. There's absolutely no customer service! I would stay away
Answer: This is not the place to inquire.
Answer: No, just 20% of your job when we talk about fixed price, and same for hourly but after some week it's been 10%
Answer: Go to Settings › Contact Info › Click the Close my account link. If you meet the requirements, click the button to confirm that you want to close your account.
Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
Answer: Because of their policy changes which are geared towards the client rather than the freelancer. They have dug their own grave with their policy changes of late.
Answer: Go to Get Paid on PC or Mobile, you will see 3 dots in front of your payment method, tap to select edit/remove to change them. Go to Billing Method on PC under Billing Section and tap three dots to change (edit/remove). Thanks
Answer: Be part and see, dont look at the sold mine reviews people, upwork can bush you to reach.
Answer: I agree with Sam. This place is a scam. They have bad reviews everywhere. Katrina is probably working for them!
