We have been attempting to rectify a behavioral health claim issue from April 2021 (a year's worth of claims actually) and the customer service on claims end is extremely poor. Communication has been on going since November 2021 (so 8 months) and no one has fully completed a task. It's a simple COB issue that has a common rule and although the mother has called 3 separate ties to confirm the COB the call rep had referenced the calls incorrectly and therefor the request had not been processed for over 3 months. That was after 5 months of them saying we were not in network (We are) and another 5 months to confirm that it was a COB issue. It would seem you can get 2/3 of the way through before a ball is dropped and you are back to square one. The off shore reps while pleasant are limited and rely heavily on scripted responses and are incapable of going off script to assist. That took a few months to get to an on shore rep who again would/could not follow through. I've spent more time and energy chasing this one client with United than any of the other 100 youth we serve.

Parasites
July 7, 2022

These parasites contact me daily about quotes. I have not requested quotes. I have told them to stop contacting ting me and yet day after day from different numbers they call or text me. Why would I trust someone with insurance when they can't even leave someone alone after being TOLD TO STOP? PARASITES!

Shame on this insurance. People with no souls work here. I'm truly shocked by how I have been forced to pay a CT scan on my own when they were told it was sent stat by my primary Doctor because of an abdominal mass. It showed a 19cm large fibroid tumor which was already effecting other organs. My primary sent me to a surgeon who was shocked to have a request from United Healthcare for a Pap smear on an organ that is going to be removed. This also made the surgery to be postponed for another month which has made my organs and me suffer more. My surgery is in 3 days/ I still don't know if it's approved or will be postponed again. A third count down? More organ issues? More depression? More symptoms?
I am in shock on how I've been treated when I have been paying on time and have huge deductibles. So beyond disgusted. I have this through work so no choice- I'm going to recommend ANYTHING else.
I'm SCARED - I'm ready to be healthy again

Worst healthcare company I've ever had through an employer. Pure garbage. I pay twice as much as I did with Cigna, have half the benefits, and the customer support is the absolute worst. They even billed me for my 2 year old's physician-ordered COVID tests because they were "out of network". Despite me filing appeals about the CARES act and their website clearly stating they would cover those things, they still deny them. Absolutely awful company.

Terrible customer service, very long hold times and mostly people who read from a script, not actually listen to the member's issue and respond in a manner that actually relates to what needs to be addressed. It's expensive insurance for what you actually get for coverage. For a company that claims to provide "value based coverage", I think that statement is more than slightly delusional.

Horrible
June 24, 2022

Kept me in pain while they tried to decide if they should allow my Surgeon to provide lidocaine patches for pain. Dr. Provided the prescription it's covered by the insurance but they won't pay for it until the Dr. Sends a note justifying why I need the pain patches. Forms have to be filled out perfectly or they deny payment. Oh but I can pay for it myself even though it covered by insurance. Management makes stupid decisions but management never talks to anybody. No customer paying for insurance deserves to be treated this way! Don't let them do this to you!

Terrible company
June 21, 2022

I have called several times trying to figure out how much my co-pay would be and nobody knew how to help me. It was like a joke, I spent over 3 hours total on hold and being transferred to customer service. Employees genuinely do not listen to the customer and are very improperly trained.

Don't use these people they are worse than the actual criminals in the world! Medicaid works with these frauds to cover everything they do that violates people rights and stealing from Medicaid as whole. I guess it's better to cover up illegal activity than think people actually still do their jobs these days. This company will burn in HELL :) right along with all of you other devils and demons in this satanic world! Money won't buy you all salvation lls

THANK YOU VIRGINA!
June 7, 2022

I called in to inquire in reference to a notice of payment. I then learned that I had opted in my last notification to choose preventive NOT comprehensive! Virginia responded in a positive direct manner allowing me to "vent" and then answer questions appropriately.

Received notice that the hospital I use, WakeMed and my HEART doctor, will no longer be part of United Healthcare. It seems they cannot come to a contract agreement. Why is this import to me? UHC's important factor here is their pocketbook, not what is important to the people whose life depend on these doctors. UHC feels they have the right to determine the necessity of my medical coverage. Granted they have doctors on their payroll, but are these the doctors who are face to face with the patients or know the total holistic view of the patients? Afraid not, they know what effects the company's bottom line, sounds like a doctorship, not the American way.

I had a uhc house calls visit from a nurse practitioner. Are was very nice and professional. She went through my medications. I explained each medication in detail to her. When I received her summary in the mail, it was mostly incorrect. Medications I am taking for HEARING problems, prescribed by my otalaryngolgist, she instead put down I was taking these medications for heart failure, depression, hypertension, anxiety disorder, and atherosclerosis. I have none of those maladies. But, now it's on record. It will affect my life insurance premiums and my health insurance premiums in the future. It possibly can even prevent me from getting a legal firearm, if I decided I ever wanted one. I called the house calls number. The representative I spoke with did not sound happy to hear what I had to say. She said she'd submit my complaint. I'm not hopeful about this situation.

If you need to call them for any reason, plan to spend an hour or more waiting for someone to talk with answer your question. Even though the message says the wait time is a certain amount of time, it is alway at least 2-3 time that amount of time. Also, they are the worst when it comes to paying claims according to the policy. They always have some reason for short paying so you end up getting a bill. We had Mutual of Omaha supplemental last year and never had to call them for any reason and our claims were paid according to our plan. United Healthcare has the worst customer service ever!

Customer service?
May 12, 2022

Today…. I had a SIMPLE question. Tried calling two times. Both reps could not understand English. I could not get an answer to my question about if a test is covered. The last guy was looking up a CT heart scan under medical durable equipment! And I could hear a rooster crowing in the background. I have great health and rarely use my coverage. It is an advantage plan. I dread the day I need a real customer rep! Please bring back some good customer service.

I paid over $500 a month in all of 2020 2021 and could not get barely any care and seeing a doctor it was near impossible. I would never pay for this other than I was stuck with it and the fact that they basically would leave you dead but take your money is extremely depressing and frustrating for their consumers /patients. So sad that you can pay a fortune and virtually be told "no, you will not get any care" other than emergency services period.

Bait and switch.
April 16, 2022

When you first call to inquire about coverage you will speak with someone who speaks fluent english. However, after you are covered you will never, not once have someone who is understandable and tend to make things worse by their lack of ability to understand and comprehend the English language. Constant issues with covered office visits that youve been using for years will randomly not be covered and then you have the luxury of battling it out with some Indonesian who makes the situation worse!

I had Florida Bue / Blue care and for years, UHC was my secondary insurance and never paid a dime for my Dexcom and diabetes supplys.
Recently I lost my Florida Blue and tried to get my Dr ordered Dexcom CGM and supplys. United refuses to pay.(There all working from home, dog barking in background) So now I will probabably not be able to control my diabetes efficently and when I end up in the hospital in which case they can pay out the $#*! for that possible hospital bill. This make any sense?
I can assure you I wont pay a dime to the hospital like so many ileagles in the country do everyday... And some folks I prsonally know.
I worked my whole life paid my taxes took care of my family been a good citizen and this is how I am treated by United Dontcare.
UHC paid nothing for my Dibetes supplyy for years, Florda Blue was excellent. Again does this make sense.
Maybe if I am illeagle crossing the border (Oh no hes a conserative white guy) I can get free medical care, a cell phone, free trasportation, and a thousand dollar check and anyone who has a baby here (They all do) is an automatic citizen. Who pays that hospital bill I wonder. Its unacceptable.

I went to my pcp March 25 for a med renewal due to having United instead of my old insurance. It's now April 5th with no communication on approval of a med I've been taking for 2 years? Disgusting insurance, poor communication. You get to speak with people who all they do is transfer you cause they don't have an answer. Don't waste your time or money on UHC. They simply suck. They deserve a no star, but since this site forces you select something they get a 1 star.
