Horrible, works is very bad, they request preauthorization for new prescriptions and takes more than 5 days to process it, you will gait for long time... I had a terrible experience
I have been to the hospital 5 times this month for scans related to heart illness, I speak to MULTIPLE surgeons on a panel that recommend open heart surgery, get it scheduled and move my entire life around to begin this harrowing process on Monday. I find out at 430 PM on Friday that everything has to be put on hold because UNITED HEALTHCARE needs more than the recommendation of multiple thoracic surgeons from MULTIPLE HOSPITALS that have come to their educated conclusion by emptying my wallet on CT scans, angioplasties, and endless blood draws. Why even go to the doctor when insurance knows more? Next time I need a life-saving procedure, I'll call an actuary since they're the ones that decide if I'm worth saving.
Pay a premium price for sub-standard care! UHC is putting small hospitals out of business by demanding lower prices than the hospital's costs to operate. UHC refused to negotiate in good faith with the hospital system in North Georgia, which forces its patients to drive an hour away to receive care at a sub-standard hospital. This is not what we paid a great deal of money for! Since UHC is the "biggest bully" on the block, they feel they can demand whatever terms they want and have hospitals (including non-profit hospitals that offer indigent care) accept their terms, or they walk. This includes being able to change their pricing demands at any time during the contract. They also lost ALL of my claims from last year, and it took me hundreds of hours to try to get them back. I am sure many are still missing. Very, very poorly run company that doesn't care about their customers, or other hospitals. We have been with UHC for over 20 years, and within the last 3 years, their customer service has fallen to the bottom of the pile. There is no customer service! Save your money and go with a reputable healthcare company. Hopefully this one won't be in business for long.
United changed OTC providers for 2022. Unlike the 2019 change which went relatively smoothly, this has locked users out for a week. United Customer Service either hangs up on you, sends you back to the auto attendant who hangs up on you or they claim its not their problem and to call the new service for which they supply you the wrong phone number. If you are fortunate to get a phone number for 1st Line, they claim its noy their problem but if you go to ANOTHER website you can log in. I did try the new site and was greeted with the error that my info was incorrect. I tried to create a new login and got an error because "account already exists". This is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. FIRE the imbecile that didn't bother to test the software upgrade because he/she/they/it has caused a week of frustrated consumers that would like to see her/him/them incarcerated as a domestic terrorist. Also, TRAIN YOUR CUSTOMER TEAM to actually provide customer service or fire them and hire intelligent beings.
I use United Health Care through my employer and am worried by their lack of accountability if this is the standard for major employer health insurance providers across the country.
I filed an appeal of a claim in Aug. 2022 by letter without response. In Dec. 2019, I was told because of the delay, I should use an email to appeal which I then used in Dec. 2019 and in Jan. 2019 after following up again without response by letter or email.
In Feb. 2023 I reached out to United by phone because the service provider had sent a letter that they'd send the bill to collections. We had a three way call with a United rep and the service provider so United could clarify what happened and that they'd failed to give accurate info.
I was given 30 days by both parties. Myself and the service provider would wait for a new appeal decision in that time.
30 days later exactly, and United said the appeal had been withdrawn when I called and I can't email an appeal despite the recommendations of two United reps previously.
So low and behold it was sent to collections and I paid the bill and suggested United pay the difference of the appeal was approved to which they accepted. Didn't offer-I had to recommend it.
Just one anecdote into the lack of accountability demonstrated so far but I feel stuck given the difficulty of changing my team's healthcare plan for everyone.
I have had 3 different patients with treatment that they needed and all were denied the payment from UHC. One patient has UHC come back and say their treatment wasn't a covered benefit and it was. Then UHC came back and said it wasn't covered due to wear and tear of the teeth! SERIOUSLY? Another had treatment that was covered under her plan and they came back with another excuse as to why they didn't cover it but only after saying it wasn't a covered benefit. Margie a manager at UHC said it was a covered benefit but the reviewing dentist denied it saying there wasn't enough space between the teeth for the appliance. SERIOUSLY? So, patient and I both asked for the reviewing dentist to call my Dr to discuss and neither the patient or myself or my Dr got a phone call. Other patient has similar issues. This isurance is crap! Bait and switch! Even worse if you are on a fixed income! DO NOT GET UHC they are full of it.
They said I had to see a certain doctor two months in find out that the doctor wasn't even a primary care doctor. They then tried to get me a doctor telling them I needed a prior authorization and I hadn't even seen this doctor yet. They told united until I was seen I couldn't get a prior or even a script. Life saving med and they refuse to cover it 2 hours on phone she made me gaurentee they could reach me sat morning 10am and never called. I told her I needed med immediately I was out and they could cover it until I got a doctor since it was there screw up. 3 days later I'm still waiting. Worst uncaring people I have ever seen. I'll b changing if your smart you will too. Hopefully you never chose them to begin with
Good luck if you plan on using added benefits. They will give you wrong information and deny your claim. Stay with who you have, and save your self from the aggravation!
Absolute total and complete garbage. We had an HMO dental plan and the only available dentists were the WORST and it literally saved us NO money. Hours and hours on the phone spent with them trying to get answers and we never got any that made sense. DO NOT GET THIS INSURANCE!
Had Blue Cross Blue Shield for years, never a problems getting things covered. My company "decided" to drop Blue Cross Blue Shield to contract with this a-hole of a company. Anyway, I personally have a serious condition that needs to be addressed via operation. My provider has submitted not one but 3 times now each being DENIED. First denial was "we don't cover that type of procedure" ok fine. The provider puts in another submission this time it's "oh the provider didn't send us everything needed". Again, ok, contact provider and their puzzled because they in fact sent everything to them so they tried again. Third time is a charm right? WRONG they denied again because guess what they don't cover any kind of procedure concerning my condition. I took upon myself to look it up and sent them their OWN policy SHOWING it's covered and to show where it's not. Haven't heard back since. I'll be dropping this sham of a insurance provider that the company I work for decided to contract with and didn't ok it with their employees. All money no coverage…. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!

DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE CARRIER if you plan on doing anything more than regular Dr visits. Anything past routine Dr visits will not be honored/covered, despite what they say. I have a Dr saying I need a surgery for my health and the chat rep said it was covered but when it came to the Dr to verify coverage they have declined it twice. What am I paying for?!?!?

THE MONTHS BEFORE THEY SEND ME A CARD SO I CAN BUY FOOD ETC AND NO ONE EXPECTED THE CARD. SO I LOST THE MONEY. THAT COMPANY THINKS IT CAN MAKE ITS OWN RULES AND CAN TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THEY WANT. THIS SHOULD BE REPORTED. I AM 82 YEARS OLD AND DO NOT SHOULD NOT BE TREATED LIKE THAT!
My advice to anyone using United HealthCare is this: GOOD LUCK. I thought OptumRx was the poorest run arm of this business - far from it. UHC itself has gotten too big for its britches. You WASTE my monthly payments sending so much wasted paper through the mail. Your website is CONFUSING and POORLY PLANNED for the average user. Your advocates, on the whole, seem to be very nice, polite representatives and that is the best thing you have going. I am told claim denied in a 5 page letter, receive another letter the next day admitting the claim, then receive another letter the next day or two denying the claim again - What the heck? Hearing Aids. I really got robbed when I filed a claim and an appeal with the hearing aid division of this mixed-up company. I am a 32 year retiree from a major Oil and Gas Company and this is the "RETIREE PROVIDED" MEDICAL INSURANCE - I have no choice
Had medical coverage with them for 3 years and no complaints at all. They were quick and easy to deal with, customer service people courteous and went the distance to help. Great service.
Healthy Benefits is no "benefit." In the beginning they had a fair selection of name-brand items; a website you could navigate, items in stock, quick shipping, and reasonable prices. All of that is history. Here's what you should know before waisting your time with an exercise in futility.
1. The program offers what appears to be many pages of offerings, but they are simply the same items listed repeatedly; to make it look like a good selection, I guess. And, 99% are generic, the days of name brands are long gone.
2. Good luck navigating the website; you'll end up starting over with every search attempt.
3. Notifications that they're "sorry, but your items are not in stock" are frequent.
4. Orders will be lost, so it's not that you get free shipping, it's that you get no shipping at all. I placed my last (and final) order over 6 weeks ago; they lost it.
5. Prices are super high. $40. Will buy you a tooth brush; tooth paste, and chapstick, that's about it.
6. If you email customer service, the will get back to you quickly... with a request to provide about 15 bits of additional personal info,
So, I no longer waste my time, and I recommend you don't either.

I have had their dental plan, they cover next to nothing, use verious excuses to avoid paying. What they offer cannot be called insurance, you are better off with no insurance instead of UHC.
Next year at open enrollment it is my wish that UHC will not be our medical provider. This is the worst insurance company in my history. They will keep you sick by denying medication. They are always turning down what i need to get better and i as of now have made it a small life mission to tell my story in hopes that you dont get involved with these AH. I would have been better a year ago if they would have just given me the right medication. I will be starting a campaign at work to present the President of A****o with a 1000 signed petition before we chose to go with them. I know alot of people who are pissed we took them on as out provider. I hope these reviews cost them dearly as it has me and my family. I guess as long as these UHC VP's get there year end bonus' the business works for them. I am currently shopping for an attorney to make them pay 7 figures. The pain and stress and loss of work has been too much. And all they saved was a few hundred dollars, yeah that it. They would kill me if they could i am positive. Yeah i hate these folks

I requested BNC Ins Agency in Rye Brook NY cancel my UnitedHealthcare policy on 12/19/2022. I asked the broker to follow up because, as a UHC member, I could not get service dealing direct. UHC deducted over $2000.00 in premium from my bank account 15 days after cancellation request. BNC Insurance in Rye Brook, NY has done NOTHING but take commission for a policy in force for 23 years. UHC is now advising my next premium is due! Jennifer from BNC in Rye Brook, NY has not followed up or been helpful at all. THEY BOTH STINK and complaint is being filed against both with NYS. THE WORST SERVICE, DON'T GET INVOLVED WITH EITHER!
