Disastrous Experience!
February 14, 2023

In Oct, I rented a tow dolly in Claremore, OK, to tow my vehicle 1,400 miles. Turns out that the lights weren't working on the dolly (they were never chk'd at Claremore) and a tech came to fix them two hours into my trip. He cut my light plug off my tow vehicle and haphazardly crimped another one on, but the lights failed again. So, I couldn't drive at night on my whole trip. On the last day of my 4-day trip, I discovered one of the dolly's tires was practically bald! (pic included) Also, the dolly itself was faulty and kept throwing my vehicle slightly sideways on it. The "swiveling" portion of the dolly was not working properly. At the drop location, the owner saw all of these faulty specifics and apologized profusely. I contacted the regional UHaul supervisor for NE Oklahoma (Chris) to explain the disaster and sent him pictures. He put my cellphone number into his phone and told me to contact him the next time I needed a UHaul, because he planned to give me a big discount on my next reservation, plus refund this disastrous rental. Well folks, apparently Chris didn't mean what he promised. I completed another tow dolly rental in January and notified him, so he could refund a discount to me. Nothing but crickets! It's been weeks now, and I've sent additional text messages, but ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE. (P.S. - when I rented this return tow dolly in January, a UHaul employee there noticed that the plug on my RV - that the tech in Oct had replaced and "crimped" on - pulled completely off into his hands! This UHaul employee had to correctly attach the plug to my RV!)

Rented from there, drove almost six hundred miles. Fed more baloney than when a recruiter talked me into the Army. Read and get a hard copy of your agreement. Follow the instructions closely! I was told uhaul didn't care who was the driver. Not!

19.95 rental is a SCAM!
February 7, 2023

They claim that it's only $19.95 for daily rental...yet they include.59 per mile AND on top of that, they charge you if you exceed the mileage you anticipated, AND they make you replace the gas in the vehicle! This didn't used to be their policy a few years ago. I will not use them again!

Horrible experience! I purchased a flatbed truck that broke down eight miles from the dealer. Uhaul refused to make repairs under the implied warranty law of Washington State saying that they had given me an AS IS disclosure so it was exempt. I never received that disclosure, but even if I did, the law specifically states that such a disclosure is not sufficient to waive the implied warranty law. The wires to the starter were frayed, and there were other electrical issues. The salesperson also tried to sell me a 2005 truck that was missing a catalytic converter and was illegal to drive on the road. If Uhaul wants to maintain a good reputation, then they should sell trucks in better condition, and stand behind their sales.

Went to different uhaul because of the slow wait. Had them fill my propane tank and must have tightened it w wrench. Valve is stripped now and when tried to work something out-manager was very rude yelling down from above about how they couldn't have done it. They are absolutely awesome-buy propane ANYWHERE else.

Prices are all a lie
February 2, 2023

Pick up says $20/day. NOT TRUE. Had the truck for 48 hours and it just cost me $100! I drove less than 50 miles. That's disgusting. Talk about hidden fees and lies. Never again uhaul, you're a scam!

Deplorable company
January 30, 2023

Fuel mileage was garbage (7 miles MPG) Speedometer was 10 MPH over actual road speed.
U-Haul tried to illicit me to pull a loaded trailer over 150 miles out of my way.
I'll never use them again.

First off the guy in there his customer service is trash he tossed the keys onto the counter in front of me like I was at a wrecking yard. That was the pick up. Upon returning the next day he was very condescending in his tone and it was not even noon yet. I've never met him before but he treated me like I did something to him. I will not be recommending this place to any of my friends and family especially the black ones. Definitely a racist prick. Bad for business. His wife was friendly though. She needs to put her dog on a leash and teach him some manners. This is the location on elms rd Killeen tx. Ameri storage.

I was in the middle of a complicated move yesterday in freezing weather and the staff at the 57th Street Philadelphia U-Haul--Tori Finger and Sydique Nichols (I asked for their names) were warm, friendly, informative and made the experience--yes, pleasant! It totally made me want to rent a truck again from U-Haul, which I was not expecting. It was by far the easiest and most pleasant part of my move. Also, the truck was in great shape. They charge a lot for boxes, but also give away used boxes for free, which is nice. I went to a UHaul in University CIty in Philadelphia a couple weeks ago to buy a few supplies to prepare for the same move, and the man walked the stuff out to my car. So, not bad!

We purchased this insurance when hiring moving help from the Uhaul web site. Our refrigerator was damaged and we filed a claim. We have clear proof in photos showing how the damage occurred. The refrigerator was strapped into a Uhaul truck against a screw during the loading process on a wood slat that should never have been there.

This is neglect on the movers part for not noticing the screw. And it is neglect on Uhaul for not having inspected this truck and removing that screw before the next rental.

Still after the sham investigation that took multiple weeks, Uhauls insurance carrier RepWest denied our claim. So disappointed...

This isn't a matter of inflation, it's a matter of thievery and price gouging. Oct 2020, sent a Ubox from Baltimore to Portland OR. $1200. We choose to use a tiny ubox because it's the AFFORDABLE option. That's literally the point. July 2022 (20 months later) Quoted $1800 from Portland, OR back to Baltimore. I said that's fine - summer was peak inflation and I have no issue with that price. However, I did not know where exactly in Baltimore I was going to living yet. So, Uhaul said, we can store it for $100 a month until you know then ship it.

FOUR MONTHS PASS AND THEY NOW QUOTE ME $2600.

20 months - $600 increase
4 months - another $800 increase

This is what they do. They have your $#*! and so you have no choice but to get $#*!ed. It's the third party shipper's price but Uhaul really needs to do something about this business agreement. People will stop using uhaul and slaughter the ratings because of this price gouging. Will never use again.

Taking advantage
December 21, 2022

We purchased a home in Florida called UHAUL to get a quote on a 16ft truck From Massachusetts to Florida. They said we would have to have it for 5 days and it would be $4000!What?! We don't need it for 5 days. Sorry that's procedure. Because everyone has moved to Florida all of our trucks are there we have noway of getting them back. If you were coming from Florida to Massachusetts it would be $1200. They are taking advantage. You either pay or throw your stuff out and start over. It's disgusting!

Disappointed
December 11, 2022

We have used U-Haul several times, and this last was the worst! We requested a 15' and when collected it suddenly turned into a 20', which we had to pay for. They had duplicated our order which caused confusion. In the evening we received a text saying we should return the truck at 10pm that night.
When getting into the cab, it smelled of wet dog; so bad had to purchase an air freshener. The back stunk of weed.
EXTREMELY disappointed. We should get what we ask for and at least have a clean vehicle.
