Today I recieved a 47.00 charge for a lead that used to cost me between 5.00 to 7.00.
Then the lady who was in chat had a unique name and the same name popped up in my city for a job THEY ARE GENERATING FAKE LEADS. When they started out they were great the leads had a fair price now they are a Total scam i was hired 3 to 5 times per 2 weeks in 2018 in 2019 was hired 1 time by luck hired 1 time in 2020 good luck to any.
We had a squirrel problem in our attic Joe and Alan came out and took there time showing us what was going on I our attic and what they had to do to solve it thank you Masters Pest CONTROL for solving our squirrel problem
WORST MARKETING COMPANY IN THE BUSINESS! They allow to many contractors to bid on one lead (10 to 12). They charge you every time a tire kicker asks you a question, not when you get hired. So they get a huge bundle if one lead sent a message to even 4 contractors. If you are not already using Thumbtack.com, don't waste your time.
Thumbtack allows felons on there sites. They also allow people that are not licensed to be on there site. They pick and choose who they want. If you are a homeowner DO NOT USE THEM. GO TO SOMEONE MORE IN LINE WITH YIUR NEEDS SUCH AS NETWORX. OR PORCH. Thumbtack is scum and the people who work there are the same

Dom Manasi was highly recommended to me and after 5 lessons, I can say without hesitation, I am very lucky to be studying with such an extraordinary musician and guitar player. When Dom said he could teach me to read music in a few months I was not convinced, as anyone with dyslexia, such as myself, would be. 5 years of lessons, as a kid, gave me a life long appreciation for playing along with few illusions about my very limited musicianship. In Doms case his musicianship and creativity are so inspiring as to be contagious. I am seeing, after a short time, significant progress in my playing ability and understanding of concepts that for years I thought were far beyond me. So instead of being intimidated by Doms vast knowledge and talent I just feel grateful to have found a committed teacher who cares about imparting his knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to his students. That enthusiasm fuels my commitment and who knows what I will be able to accomplish over the next year, in which time I will post another review.
Will send unqualified con artist posing as contractors. Money back guarantee? If you request they never respond. Just as unscrupulous as many of the supposed contractors they supply.
I spend $300 every week on leads and getting not interested customers this's scam
Fake customers, I had not answers from customer and I set a budget for 300 dollars per week. And don't get any job
Looking for guitar lessons so naturally it recommends a fitness trainer. Tells me it has 7 matches, then 6 matches, then comes up with a fitness trainer 5 counties away. Don't waste you time.
These guys have no patience with a pro developing metastatic liver cancer. It is hard to contact these folks if you have to travel to Philadelphia for life sustaining cancer treatments.
He did an excellent job on the remodeling of my bathroom everything was to my liking and I was completed satisfied. I would definitely recommend this company to my family friends.
Leads are over priced, their customer service is patronizing and disrespectful. They will not work with you on anything and are intentionally misleading in how they handle leads and pricing.
I am the owner of a contracting company that has been with Thumbtack for ten years, and just recently noticed that license is being shown as not verified. Thumbtack has my license, I have shown them we appear immediately on DPOR as a licensed contractor, and I have uploaded my license twice for them. I was also told that the name on our Thumbtack account doesn't match the name on the license. This is pure laziness on Thumbtack's part. Had they bothered to actually look at the license they would have seen that my business's principal is shown on line one, which is immediately followed by my business's dba. The dba matches the name of our Thumbtack account. Furthermore, the email that was sent me stating this is from a donotreply email, so I have no way of emailing them back. When calling in it's Thumbtack policy that I cannot speak with the verification team.
I have to speak with a low level agent, who is "apparently" is also not allowed to speak with the verification team. They can only pass along messages. How can they possibly fine this efficient? At any rate, the license is still showing as not verified. I was told that the team that handles license verification should need no more than 1-2 business to verify the documentation I provided. It's now been five days! All the while potential clients are seeing my business as not a verified contractor, and I might be losing out on jobs. However, Thumbtack has no issue with me billing for leads. Thumbtack is a very poorly ran company!
I have to say this is the most disappointing correspondence from Thumbtack. Your service went from tolerable to incredibly expensive. As a freelancer to have to pay simply to have a discussion is quite defeating. If I have to pay $34 every time a potential client speaks with me, I will not survive. The same $34 I just referenced would have cost me $13 just a few months ago before you switched to this new billing system you have devised. There is a difference between charging for the value provided versus charging for mere correspondencewhich may or may not lead anywhere.
And in this case, for what I had reported having someone reach out three weeks after the original bid was made, to have taken money from my account caused an overdraft, so the $34 bid cost me $69, so thanks for costing me too much money to run my business.
I understand that your service is a valuable go-between in connecting me with potential clients and a better business and I value and appreciate that and I would gladly pay for the business I can land. But to have to pay such a premium to have time-wasters and tire kickers' is something that I refuse to do.
I do hope you will consider reverting to the previous model of paying a set amount for bids OR taking a commission when the job is hired.
I will use other services and exclude Thumbtack from my desired service providers.
Having contacted 3 contractors for a bathroom remodel and having little response what a bunch of bull crap Really! Bogus and worthless. Why bother waste of tme
We're sorry that you didn't hear back from anyone about your project, that's definitely not the experience intended. We'd be happy to look at the project details and your account, to ensure everything is set up the way you want it. Feel free to reach out to us through a private message on any social media platform so that we can help.
They steal your money and then send you fake bogus leads. I have asked for a refund and they have refused. I have not had a legit lead in just under one year.
My name is david lopez I hired mr. Colon and wife to clean my house and my office, they take pride in what they do. They did a super job and, I will contact them in the future.
Like all of the recent reviews, I also take issue with the high cost of leads. We are now paying for a LEAD, not a GIG, which is outrageous. Some are not even real. Also, they used to show preference to loyal users with the "Top Pro" program. I've been a top pro for 4 years now. Basically, if we kept 5 star ratings and continued to be responsive we would be put on the top of the list customers saw. Now newbie providers that only have a few reviews, (not with a top pro status), are now higher ranked than I am. When I reached out to find out why I was no longer at the top I was told the list is now sorted by the 'QUALITY of the provider." HOW INSULTING! It isn't even true. They are giving a higher ranking to the people giving them more money. Speaking of ratings, someone who didn't even hire me marked me as a 2 star. When I reached out to thumbtack and told them I have a perfect 5 star rating, please take her review down I was told NO. Thumbtack has lost sense of all business ethics. As this was my main source to reach clients, I'm now forced to find other means to connect with clients.
I had earlier put in my review and said. They were not done yet what I meant was they were going to be back the next day please disregard the first review they were wonderful
How does a company ( Thumbtack) allow a potential customer you never met or entered into an agreement with mark you as hired because once you respond to the potential customers request they can mark you as hired and that's what happened to me. I reached out to a potential customer, never met them in person to look at the job, never even as much received a picture of the work to performed and when I did not respond to a message over the weekend while spending time with family this person who marked me as hired wrote a 1 star review due to me not responding over the weekend. I never met this person or entered into an agreement with this person so why does thumbtack allow potential customers to mark you as hired until you sign a contract. Does not make a damn bit of sense to me. But I guess it makes sense to thumbtack and the scumbag who left the review. You ( Thumbtack) told me you couldn't remove the review the lady left even knowing I never met or had a signed contract stating what would be performed and for how much. You told me she is entitled to her opinion and so am I! I'm sure your little show will go on and you'll continue to allow scumbags like the one who reviewed me when we never met to leave reviews without even meeting or performing work for them. This person was probably a competitor and you all are to stupid to see that! Spend your money else where, it's typically people who already reached out to local companies that they couldn't afford so they're looking for a low ball offer or they will issue bad checks or not pay you at all, that's the crowd thumbtack attracts. Run!
Answer: Thumbtack does not generate fake requests. When our professionals come to Thumbtack to meet new customers, we know how important it is to receive requests that can help them expand their clientele. We have a lot of customers that come to Thumbtack and hire professionals to help them complete their personal projects. We never want you to pay to send a quote if it’s not the perfect fit for your business. This is why you can view the details of each request before you send a quote and introduce yourself to the customer. James - I’m so sorry that the concerns you’ve brought to our attention haven’t been responded to in an appropriate amount of time, this is never our intention. Answer: Hi Kay, I’d be happy to answer your questions. When we initially started Thumbtack in 2009, we tried multiple business models. This included a commission based model, but there were some concerns. When professionals didn’t pay for each quote they sent out, there was nothing to stop pros from quoting as much as possible, regardless of if they were the right fit for the job. Paying for each quote encourages better quality quotes and creates a much better experience for customers. Like you mentioned, it’s important for us to get customers to try our site and continue to hire professionals. In the end, pros are paying to promote and advertise themselves to customers that are already actively looking for that particular service. S. G has an amazing point, and Thumbtack is a great introduction site. There’s a lot of potential to expand your clientele, but sometimes it takes some tweaking to your profile and quotes to increase your response rate. The goal is to create a connection through your profile and quote message, and we’re here to help you do this. It’s kind of like sending the customer a virtual portfolio of your experience, achievements, and reviews. I do want to clarify that Thumbtack does not create fake requests, and it goes against everything we value as a company. While Thumbtack may not be the perfect fit for every business, we strongly believe that we can help connect businesses with new customers and foster growth. If you’d like to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we’d love to give you more personalized help or answer any other concerns you may have.
Answer: We love to see that you’re interested in joining Thumbtack, Grace! Your party planning business sounds like it will be a blast. When it comes to having a license, it's up to each professional to determine what licenses are necessary and follow their local, state and federal laws. I recommend checking with your state to see if a business license is needed for your service. Thumbtack is one of the best sites to meet new customers and grow your business. Robert S. Gave a really good explanation of how we work. You can sign up and receive requests for free, and you only pay us when you send the customer a quote. Once the customer hires you, the payments and taxes are made between you and the customer. This is a great way to connect with the customer and build an extensive referral network. We wish you the best of luck with growing your business. Have an amazing day!
Answer: The reason you had a lull in leads we because thumbtack had a manual action penalty levied against them. If you are not sure what that is you should google search it. The letter you received from Thumbtack regarding this was (as usual) not fully truthful. The letter does not detail the slimy tactics thumbtack used ti enhance google rankings in organic search returns. Do yourself a favor and search this phrase "thumbtack manual action penalty"
Answer: With our recent changes, you're only charged when a customer responds to your quote with interest in working with you. If you have questions about a specific quote, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Just send us a message on Facebook with your email address and the customer's name.
Answer: We want to make sure you get the most out of our site and see a return on the investment you've made with us. Please give us a call at (800) 948-2034 when you have time so we can go over your concerns with us.
