Dave Coons met with my fiance and I prior to our wedding. We discussed our plans and he offered several options for the ceremony. He kept in contact with us and made sure he was providing us with our wishes. Dave is a joy to work with! We are so happy we met him. We would heartily recommend his caring and professional services.
I have had requests from a service I found through Thumbtack to rate them, but after doing so the quality of the service degraded significantly. Thumbtack prevented me from revising my review. I assume now that the reviews are unreliable.
My home improvements were done wonderfully and successfully by David and Mickey Dunn. I will hire them in the future for any additional needs at my home. They are smart, trustworthy, capable of problem solving difficult situations, and have a wide range of skills among them. I am blessed to have had them as the repairmen of a large home improvement project. I highly recommend them.
Thumbtack is screwing the contractors by selling them fake leads. When I post my ad on craigslist, I do business with about half the people who call me. On thumbtack, I quote on 30 deals, and only get hired once? That's bull$#*!. The people in my area haven't changed, and my business hasn't changed. It's the leads that are garbage. Also, it's odd that thumbtack doesn't have a CAPTCHA box that says, I'M NOT A ROBOT... That would stop some of the fraud, but they don't care about the contractor. $#*! them.
Like many others, we have been Pros for years and it's sad to see this company had to turn to scamming their pros and stealing their money. Read all the other reviews and stay far away from this company!
Be sure to file complaints with your state's attorney general and with the State of California Dept of Justice. You can also dispute the credit cards with your bank.
After being charged several times, upwards of $10 each email, I realized that many of the profiles that I was seeing over and over and over, were fake. This company generates leads that aren't real in order to get more money from providers. Total scam.
My company has been working to obtain leads from Thumbtack for over 2 years. The leads are expensive, not qualified and the bidding process is a joke! The whole system of bidding is NOT based on experience or location it IS based solely, according to Thumbtack, on the speed of your internet. Business owners do yourself a favor, don't waste your money, time or effort on Thumbtack.
I too have been on thumbtack for three years. The first year was great. Fees were reasonable. The next year they tripled their fees. The third year the fees were unbelievable and now with this new thing they are doing, I would not benefit at all. They pretty muchwant 60% and perhaps that percentage is too low. I charge $85 for a simple tax return, but the lead at this point costed $44 with this new budget scam they are doing.
Dave and Jason are real nice guys and do GREAT work! Had them put some drains in our patio area and pressure wash everything!
If anyone needs work done in the Northern Brevard area. I highly recommend him!
've been a client for 4 years on Thumbtack. This page is great page to find new customers. But since a few months some of their leads start to fake like some of their competitors. Ad their refund policy have changed. They don't refund you anymore for these fake leads.
Thumbtack is a scam! 20 small business is thinking of becoming a Thumbtack "pro" beware! Less than two weeks ago I paid $200 in hopes that thumbtack would provide leads from my new small business. After a week of nothing I decided my marketing funds would be better spent elsewhere. I sent a request in to refund my $200 deposit to which I received a response that it was nonrefundable. I've been requested to speak with the supervisor who called and continue to advise she understands my frustration but the fine print states that once I make the payment of $200 it's nonrefundable because I am pre-paying for leads. Essentially, I've made a deposit of $200. I have received no leads, no service, no product, and thumbtack is refusing to refund my money to me. If you are a small business hoping thumbtack will give you promising leads just know that they are a scam. Do not use their "service".
Gerald Morrison, comes highly recommended by me. Gerald has completed several jobs for me small & large. He is very dependable, detailed, knowledgeable and always complete the job in a timely & professional manner. He is who I will contacr on for any future plumbing jobs.

After 2 years I receive two "leads" or request to speak with me. I responded back and never heard back from the two "leads". I had 2 charges of $25.40 which I questioned with them and they were not budging on the charges. It is concerning to me that all of a sudden after 2 years and I believe they just had a large fee increase I get two questionable request to speak to me but they did not respond back to me. My card I had on file also expired almost 2 years ago and they still managed to charge me. No offer to give me a full or partial credit. I am now disputing the charges. NEVER AGAIN!
When I saw my son do his first professional show I was sweating like bullets, afraid for him and kept thinking myself, "Would if they don't laugh?" what I say to him if his performance bombed.
All of sudden the MC introduces my son Woodi Bruce on stage. He gets a well received reception. And then like magic, he makes his little friend Tony Francisco come alive. He was hilarious, he had impeccable timing, he made the audience believe that Tony was a real person. At that point, I was very proud of my son. I knew he was truly an artist at his craft.
Geraldine Woodford
Very very proud of Woodi Bruce
We had several estimates for carpet cleaning.
DAVID NIVEN was very impressive and had a very reasonable rate.
We made an appointment and he came out. Very pleasant and he actually did more than he had bid but kept price the same.
Would highly recommend.
They sell you one thing and deliver another. Very low quality leads, majority of said potential customers were not serious at all! Customer service will not credit leads. They will bleed you out.
Not recommended, there are plenty of options out there, save your money.

I received three names of contractors for concrete repairs. I contacted all three contractors and they set dates and times to come out to give an estimate. None of them ever showed up. I will never us this service again or the contractors they provided.
As a pro getting leads from Thumbtack, they charge a ridiculous amount for certain leads even if you don't get the job and even worse, they won't issue you a refund when the customer decides to book with you and then cancels to shop prices upwards of a leads fee of $59!
Some customers will ask for certain services and Thumbtack will charge you a leads fee based off of what they filled out they were looking for but when you contact the customer the job is completely different and is much less than what they posted on Thumbtack which you should be issued some type of refund for.
So many inconsistencies with Thumbtack from the Pro side and really disappointed that they don't have adequate Chat features or help for the Pros. They unfourtunately only care about the money and increased lead prices they make as well as the customer.
Hi Paula, we're sorry to hear this feedback. Our goal is to provide quality leads to professionals, while they might not always result in a hire, we feel confident we have the tools for pros to become successful on the platform. We'd like to gather more details from you about the lead pricing feedback you've shared. So that we may improve, it's helpful for us to have examples of the lead pricing you're seeing, size of the job, and the industry you're in. You can reach our support team by texting 415-299-6398 Monday through Friday 6am to 6pm MST, or emailing us at support@thumtback.com.
I used Thumbtack for my business for about a year and a half. I have really liked using them UNTIL they doubled there pricing to quote my potential clients. They are way to expensive and I probably won't ever use them again. I get enough business from Facebook and word of mouth!
So I got 3 different customers sending me a msg regarding appliances repair. Each of them send msg to few different pros as well. Neither of them ever responded me but I was charged for each of them. I paid total 35.44$ for nothing. I don't count it as a lead cause I never got the answer for my question. I don't even know if this is a real person. But here is the fun thing. Thumbtack charged all 5 pros for the lead. That's quite awesome way of making money, just charging people who's actually work hard with their hands. Doesn't matter if that person never even hire anyone, you got you 100$ for him asking questions on your platform. And when you wanna ask support some question, appears, that they don't have anyone on the phone! WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING IN THAT CASE?!?! Bunch of scmbgs
Answer: Thumbtack does not generate fake requests. When our professionals come to Thumbtack to meet new customers, we know how important it is to receive requests that can help them expand their clientele. We have a lot of customers that come to Thumbtack and hire professionals to help them complete their personal projects. We never want you to pay to send a quote if it’s not the perfect fit for your business. This is why you can view the details of each request before you send a quote and introduce yourself to the customer. James - I’m so sorry that the concerns you’ve brought to our attention haven’t been responded to in an appropriate amount of time, this is never our intention. It's important to us to obsess about answering our customers and professionals questions and concerns within a timely manner. We are a real company that can always be improving. You can read more about our company in reputable sources such as Forbes and the New York Times. Answer: Hi Kay, I’d be happy to answer your questions. When we initially started Thumbtack in 2009, we tried multiple business models. This included a commission based model, but there were some concerns. When professionals didn’t pay for each quote they sent out, there was nothing to stop pros from quoting as much as possible, regardless of if they were the right fit for the job. Paying for each quote encourages better quality quotes and creates a much better experience for customers. Like you mentioned, it’s important for us to get customers to try our site and continue to hire professionals. In the end, pros are paying to promote and advertise themselves to customers that are already actively looking for that particular service. S. G has an amazing point, and Thumbtack is a great introduction site. There’s a lot of potential to expand your clientele, but sometimes it takes some tweaking to your profile and quotes to increase your response rate. The goal is to create a connection through your profile and quote message, and we’re here to help you do this. It’s kind of like sending the customer a virtual portfolio of your experience, achievements, and reviews. I do want to clarify that Thumbtack does not create fake requests, and it goes against everything we value as a company. While Thumbtack may not be the perfect fit for every business, we strongly believe that we can help connect businesses with new customers and foster growth. If you’d like to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we’d love to give you more personalized help or answer any other concerns you may have.
Answer: We love to see that you’re interested in joining Thumbtack, Grace! Your party planning business sounds like it will be a blast. When it comes to having a license, it's up to each professional to determine what licenses are necessary and follow their local, state and federal laws. I recommend checking with your state to see if a business license is needed for your service. Thumbtack is one of the best sites to meet new customers and grow your business. Robert S. Gave a really good explanation of how we work. You can sign up and receive requests for free, and you only pay us when you send the customer a quote. Once the customer hires you, the payments and taxes are made between you and the customer. This is a great way to connect with the customer and build an extensive referral network. We wish you the best of luck with growing your business. Have an amazing day!
Answer: The reason you had a lull in leads we because thumbtack had a manual action penalty levied against them. If you are not sure what that is you should google search it. The letter you received from Thumbtack regarding this was (as usual) not fully truthful. The letter does not detail the slimy tactics thumbtack used ti enhance google rankings in organic search returns. Do yourself a favor and search this phrase "thumbtack manual action penalty"
Answer: With our recent changes, you're only charged when a customer responds to your quote with interest in working with you. If you have questions about a specific quote, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Just send us a message on Facebook with your email address and the customer's name.
Answer: We want to make sure you get the most out of our site and see a return on the investment you've made with us. Please give us a call at (800) 948-2034 when you have time so we can go over your concerns with us.
