Download the app and also tried on web site. All they want is you to upgrade. Tried finding a dog trainer. They sent me a name but couldn't contact them. Tried their customer service, what a mistake just a lot of texts with no answer to my questions.
Don't waste your time
I wanted to speak with a customer service representative at Thumbtack. I called the phone number that is given and it kicks you over to a text automated assistant. It is impossible from what I have found to reach an actual person when you need help
Since I've been connected with Thumbtack for several months, I must say the "batting average" is rather disappointing. Maybe 10 to 15% of those I subut bids to respond and in one case, for instance, although she stated she wanted to reschedule after a last minute cancellation, didn't respond to my text message so as to reschedule. I've cut my rates to be more competitive, have six positive reviews and a very attractive website. So my intention is to henceforth ignore more of the offerings they pitch to me for quote submissions. And being in this business for 42 years, I'm not slashing my rates out of a desperate need to get more clients.
Thumbtack is a rip off and a middleman which takes customers away from pros.
I get charged a lot from you. Most customers never respond. I get notified about potential customers and then cant find them anywhere. This company can afford to advertise big time off the backs of the contractors who do the jobs.
Hired a house keeper and it started off really good. Then I had a stroke and she started walking out with things. Things like my sons football equipment, pressure cookers, knife sets, steam mop, pots and pans LV backpack, and my LV purse. Filed a police report and reported it to thumbtack and they didn't care. Amanda Rainey is the house keeper.
Hi Vanessa, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're very sorry to hear about your experience, we want to help you move forward. We weren't able to locate an open case you might have with our team based on this information, if you haven't already completed a formal report to our Trust and Safety Team, please follow this link: https://help.thumbtack.com/report-a-concern. We don't tolerate this type of behavior on the platform and want to ensure appropriate actions were taken. If you have followed that link already and have questions or concerns about your case, please send us a DM via social media so that we can look into this for you.
Excellent trainer. She trained my 11 mos old Rhodesian ridgeback and made it look easy. My dog looked forward to seeing her every visit. My dog made great progress over a very short period of time. Would highly recommend.
It's true what everyone is talking about this company! Don't give me them your money! I used Thumtack to advertise my low voltage part time gig and I can guarantee you they create false leads and charge many contractors for the same exactly lead. I can also say that they don't care about anyone only money and if your card gets declined your business is immediately place offline. The background process is really stupid, and anyone can call themselves a contractor and open your walls and later walk away because something went wrong. I gave them thousands of dollars and through thumbtack I was able to make a good amount of Money, but I can say that none of the customers knew about the problem and most of them thought I had insurance and license.
We're sorry to hear that you had a negative experience overall. While pros can contact the same lead, we work hard to mitigate and remove any illegitimate leads, to protect the integrity of the platform. For more information about our background check process, please review this page on our Help Center: https://help.thumbtack.com/article/background-checks. We want to wish you and your business well as you move forward.
In the same way that their fake pros scam people, Thumbtack also scam by not being truth to their own terms and condition of "Money-back Guarantee". I hope people will find time reading the email conversation I attached here so they see how Thumbtack sided with their "fake" pros and running away from their Money-back guarantee promise.
One star for trying. The joke about Thumbcrack is that I wasted over 1 hour uploading my information only to find out I cannot send a potential customer ( there isn't anyone there who needs service) or lead any email or bids unless I spend $11.67 per Thumbcrack credits ( 7 is what I need to spend on) $ 681.69 charged to paypal or credit card? I don't believe I am the sucker they"re looking for. Run, run run! From this site.
Thumbtack is a total scam for Pros. Charges hundreds to thousands of dollars for a so-called "lead" even if you do not get the job booked. I'm lit tons of money and still no job booked. Very disappointing and concerning that they are scamming poor people just trying to work! They should be shut down.
I've been using ThumbTack for about a week now and have spent $20 and got 2 jobs and made $92 and $100 ($20 tip) so I'm very happy with that.
The prices are getting bigger so I'm more carefull about jobs I bid (only small for now) so that could be good or bad.
Big issue for me is I don't see cost per each bid.
I seen on another site where getting credits back was almost impossible then I tried it and Eric from support was super helpful and I got all my credits back for bids not viewed.
Over all I. Very happy as long as bids do t continue to get over the top expensive.
I thought Yelp was going down and Thumbtack would take over. However, as a consumer who likes to write reviews, imagine my surprise when they screwed up big time. One day I changed my e-mail address. The next thing I new, my account was deleted. I ontacted them and we sent 6 e-mails back and forth. They had no idea who I was. When I started getting really angry, they decide to say I was erased for "fabricating reviews". Really? I have no business or company and you didn't even know who I was. Now I am fabricating reviews? Yeah right. TERRIBLE COMPANY
Very dishonest service for professionals!
Now I understand why this company worth 1.3 Billion dollars!
They are nothing but scammers!
Professionals! Do not fall for this scam! You will end up paying a lot of money for leads that in 9 cases out of 10 do not work!
On top of that, they will charge your card even for leads that you never accepted!
I needed information to help me with a court case and didn't know how to go about it.
Curtis was very helpful and kind! He was able to obtain a lot of information that was helpful for me to move through the process! He was professional and more then reasonable in his fee!
I would highly recommend him for all your investigating needs.
Deborah
$50 spent in 1 month + ID check + a lot of time wasted in front of the computer + great reviews + super pro medias gallery = only 1 contact. It does not worth it. I think they have a LOT OF FAKE requests. Sometimes I get a request by text, less than 5 seconds later I click to reply and the client already got 5 quotes! Seriously, that is not possible.
Word of mouth more serious and efficient in my industry -
Thumbtack advertises the professionals as second hand thrift store kind. It encourages fake requests and are not transparent in their advertising. They do not care to help the small business professionals, if they did they would advertise that all the professionals that submit quotes have to pay for each quote submitted. Most requests are fake, so this of course makes money for Thumbtack, not the professional.
Big clean did an amazing job. Quick, efficient, reasonable, personable and when job was completed I was amazed and very pleased. I highly recommend this company for any of your pressure washing needs.
Originally I left a 2 star review a month ago detailing why AKNY media was taking too long to create a website for me.
Now I believe I may have been in error. The problem, at least to me was a lack of communication from Steve. However Steve never stayed out of touch. Thing is that it made me nervous.
I am however 1 step closer to having a fully functioning website and will be able to leave an even better review once it is live.

When I received the list of potential voice instructors from Thumbtack, I knew that he was the right person for me. We are both seniors and Mike had extensive experience in Manhattan as a cabaret performer. I went to see him perform at Café Centro in the Northwood section of West Palm Beach. Florida and was very impressed. He sang many of my favorite songs and he was a very terrific piano planner. I took lessons for two months and during that brief time I was amazed at how my singing ability and confidence grew. Mike is very patient and as might be expected, really know his stuff. In addition, each lesson was a mini-concert where I got to hear him play. I plan to re-start my lessons when I re-locate to Florida. Go see Mike during the fall and winter season at Café Centro and you will be impressed as I was.
Today i joined a long list of longtime, high performing, legitimate, insured contractors to leave Thumbtack after multiple years. They have become a scam company... Not only have the increased bid pricing each year by almost 100%, in the last two years they have doubled the amount of contractors that can bid on a job. Therefore, to stay on as a Pro with Thumbtack, I have to pay much more for much less. Thumbtack you really disappoint me, it was once so good. Now only the dumbest and most desperate of people will bid on jobs... and thats really bad for the consumer.
Answer: Thumbtack does not generate fake requests. When our professionals come to Thumbtack to meet new customers, we know how important it is to receive requests that can help them expand their clientele. We have a lot of customers that come to Thumbtack and hire professionals to help them complete their personal projects. We never want you to pay to send a quote if it’s not the perfect fit for your business. This is why you can view the details of each request before you send a quote and introduce yourself to the customer. James - I’m so sorry that the concerns you’ve brought to our attention haven’t been responded to in an appropriate amount of time, this is never our intention. It's important to us to obsess about answering our customers and professionals questions and concerns within a timely manner. We are a real company that can always be improving. You can read more about our company in reputable sources such as Forbes and the New York Times. If anyone has specific concerns about certain requests you’re receiving, we’d be happy to review them and see how we can help. Feel free to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we have an amazing support team that is just waiting to talk to you.
Answer: Hi Kay, I’d be happy to answer your questions. When we initially started Thumbtack in 2009, we tried multiple business models. This included a commission based model, but there were some concerns. When professionals didn’t pay for each quote they sent out, there was nothing to stop pros from quoting as much as possible, regardless of if they were the right fit for the job. Paying for each quote encourages better quality quotes and creates a much better experience for customers. Like you mentioned, it’s important for us to get customers to try our site and continue to hire professionals. In the end, pros are paying to promote and advertise themselves to customers that are already actively looking for that particular service. S. G has an amazing point, and Thumbtack is a great introduction site. There’s a lot of potential to expand your clientele, but sometimes it takes some tweaking to your profile and quotes to increase your response rate. The goal is to create a connection through your profile and quote message, and we’re here to help you do this. It’s kind of like sending the customer a virtual portfolio of your experience, achievements, and reviews. I do want to clarify that Thumbtack does not create fake requests, and it goes against everything we value as a company. While Thumbtack may not be the perfect fit for every business, we strongly believe that we can help connect businesses with new customers and foster growth. If you’d like to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we’d love to give you more personalized help or answer any other concerns you may have.
Answer: We love to see that you’re interested in joining Thumbtack, Grace! Your party planning business sounds like it will be a blast. When it comes to having a license, it's up to each professional to determine what licenses are necessary and follow their local, state and federal laws. I recommend checking with your state to see if a business license is needed for your service. Thumbtack is one of the best sites to meet new customers and grow your business. Robert S. Gave a really good explanation of how we work. You can sign up and receive requests for free, and you only pay us when you send the customer a quote. Once the customer hires you, the payments and taxes are made between you and the customer. This is a great way to connect with the customer and build an extensive referral network. We wish you the best of luck with growing your business. Have an amazing day!
Answer: The reason you had a lull in leads we because thumbtack had a manual action penalty levied against them. If you are not sure what that is you should google search it. The letter you received from Thumbtack regarding this was (as usual) not fully truthful. The letter does not detail the slimy tactics thumbtack used ti enhance google rankings in organic search returns. Do yourself a favor and search this phrase "thumbtack manual action penalty"
Answer: With our recent changes, you're only charged when a customer responds to your quote with interest in working with you. If you have questions about a specific quote, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Just send us a message on Facebook with your email address and the customer's name.
Answer: We want to make sure you get the most out of our site and see a return on the investment you've made with us. Please give us a call at (800) 948-2034 when you have time so we can go over your concerns with us.
