The College Wizard

Harvey has devised brilliant strategies that transformed my daughters SAT score from 1230 to 1510. Harvey gave Bella a phenomenal boost to her confidence. We cant recommend him highly enough.

We were somewhat nervous about finding a tutor comfortable with the New SAT format, but Harvey assured us that his methods would work equally well on the New SAT and the ACT. We began by being amazed when our son Justin went from 31 to 36 on his April ACT. But when he got his March SAT results back only to discover a perfect 1600 as well, we all fell off our chairs. Harvey truly is a wizard and any student who gets a chance to work with him should consider himself extremely lucky.

I rarely write reviews, but in Harveys case, I felt compelled to share my truly extraordinary experience with other parents looking for SAT/ACT tutoring. I suspect others might share the trepidation I felt when considering hiring a tutor I found on the internet. The fact that Harvey spent so much time discussing Alexandras situation by telephone, followed up by a free trial of his one-on-one Skype tutoring certainly helped to put my mind at ease. But listening to Harveys interactions with Alexandra during the sessions, it was obvious not only how remarkable are his teaching skills, but more important for me his compassion for Alexandra and his passion for working to ensure that she hit her goals. In the end, Alexandra gained over 400 points in SAT as well as 8 points in ACT, far beyond our expectations.

Every so often, you meet someone who actually exceeds their hype. That's how I feel about Harvey.

When I first read about him, I thought he sounded a little too good to be true. But now I realize he is a truly gifted, unbelievably committed person who devotes all his energy to helping kids get what they want in life.

The way Harvey worked with my son Nick was amazing. Honestly, Nick is not the most motivated kid. But somehow Harvey got him excited about getting into a really good school. He built Nick's confidence and got him to appreciate his own intelligence. Then every night, I actually saw Nick take out his SAT books and PRACTICE! (This in itself was a miracle).

Harvey has really been a mentor for Nick, much more than just a tutor. I have seen so many positive changes in Nick, his confidence, his maturity, and I owe a lot of that to the time Nick spent with Harvey.

Nick got just 1500 on his first SAT, and we were hoping for maybe 1800. But with Harvey's coaching, Nick achieved a 2120. I am thrilled!

Harvey worked with my son Josh a few years ago, so of course when it was time for my daughter Elizabeth to need SAT prep, I contacted Harvey.

Elizabeth is a much stronger student than Josh, and so her goals were higher. She really wanted a perfect score.

Elizabeth's challenge, though, is that she is a competitive gymnast and so has a very packed schedule during the week.

Harvey's Skype lessons let Elizabeth meet at times convenient for her. Different days of the week, sometimes on weekends, sometimes late a night (10:15PM.)

Elizabeth loved Harvey just as much as Josh did, and really got powered up and competitive with herself as she saw that Harvey's tricks work every time and give you a clear path to a perfect score.

I was surprised to see it was true, as Harvey told us at the beginning, that the last couple hundred points of getting a perfect score can be as hard to achieve as five hundred points for a student starting out lower.

But Elizabeth was determined willing to keep working with Harvey as long as it took.

Elizabeth did need three tries to reach her goal, but she doesn't give up and scored 2260 the first time, 2310 the second time and finally 2400.

I got in Harvard! And I want to share my excitement by raving about the person whose help influenced my acceptance. Sydney scored a 1350 on her final SAT (2nd attempt which was a 1250... PLUS... 4 attempts on ACT).

It was Harvey that suggested the SAT may be more suited to Sydney's learning style. We listened and he was right. I don't think Sydney would have scored any higher than 1150 - 1190 without his help.

But... here's the really important part that not everybody talks about.

When it came to Sydney applying to universities, Harvey was VERY helpful and his true brilliance never showed more than in his editing. He helped Sydney to flush out ideas and helped her to edit and proof her essays.

It truly was the difference that made the difference and she got accepted to the University of Texas (Austin) when MANY people with higher test scores, GPAs, and class rank... got rejection letters.

Just having that weekly appointment kept our daughter committed to be prepared. In reality, it's "possible" to do it on your own... but "highly improbable" that a person will actually do what's necessary to get the most of themselves without some coaching and countability along the way.

The greatest athletes in the world have coaches for a reason... because it works!

So was it worth the investment... without a doubt... YES!
