I mailed in 3 brand new textbooks and they are refusing to pay me the estimate the gave me online. The books were literally brand new. Absolutely nothing wrong with them. This company is a scam.
I ordered one book, was charged and delivered two even though there's only one book on my account history and no confirmation on the second book anywhere. Yet, I am still paying $16 to ship the second book I did not order or want back in order to get a refund. Please do NOT purchase anything from their marketplace. Save your time and energy for a company or your local book store that won't play you like a fiddle.
Do not order from this company! I mailed two books to them for the buy back option, they said they never received one of my books even though the tracking number shows it was delivered and they now refuse to give me my money back or my book. RUN AWAY!
The key here is to buy only from textbooks.com, if you see a listing under "Marketplace" it is a different company and about half the time you'll run into problems. But everything I have bought from them has been fine and arrived by UPS on time. As far as selling books back you're better off selling the book yourself if you expect to get a big pay off. They are picky about the condition, but what the reviews here don't mention is that when you create the quote to send them the books in the first place they cover shipping, so if they can't sell the book it makes sense that they try to cover the loss.
I bought a pdf from this website for a very reasonable $70 ($230 book). They said I'd have it within 24 hours, and I got it in less than an hour. I'd say it's fairly safe to buy from them, but other reviews indicate you SHOULD NOT sell them your books. Just follow that rule, and you should be fine.
I bought a book from textbook.com and it said it was in used condition but I when I received it was like new in wonderful condition and still had the key in it unused and unopened. The book on amazon was selling for $140.00 and I got it for 29.95. I think they're great!
I purchased an ebook for a winter course. The confirmation link to access the book appeared in my spam folder instead of my normal inbox. All in all, good price, just got to do a little bit of digging!
I placed an order for a book online seeing that there was only one left from a seller. There's a place where you can view pending orders and after 15 minutes, when the page showed nothing but I knew my order had gone through I contacted customer service who told me that it had gone through. I received an email sometime after with a tracking number notifying me that the book had left the warehouse. So, for the most part it was worry free except their orders not showing up on your order list. They also had a thing where if you return the book within a time frame (for school, a semester) they can give you up to a certain amount which is useful if you want to 'rent' a textbook. I chose to keep mine so I can't comment on that process, but it's helpful to know.
They will lead you to believe all the books they advertise as available are ready to be purchased. Not true. Bought a book only to have them tell me two days later it was not available. They did refund my money but I was left scrambling to buy from another vendor as class was beginning soon. Suggest you stay away from this company.
Sent $35 worth of books in and received $5 for them. 2 of the books were in excellent shape and the third had most of the exercises filled in but it was a 15 year old book that is still being used for classes. We were at least the 4th purchaser and I believe we purchased it for textbooks.com. We added no extra markings and just copied the questions. I will not be selling or buying any more books to textbooks.com
Resell offers are deliberately vague so that they can claim lesser condition and/or missing code at which point they will give you nothing and try to charge you twice the postage to return the book to you. Look for a reputable company to buy and sell your textbooks with.
Textbooks.com has a good selection of features that help it stand apart from the competition. Most notably, the website is not limited solely to textbook rentals. Textbooks.com allows you to purchase and sell your textbooks online, its very helpful for Textbook.com. I save money and time, So the textbook.com is very quickly to delivery the books for the customers.
I ordered and paid for a textbook, then later the next day was told that their system was behind and they didn't know the book had already been sold so my order was declined and that it would be 7-10 days to get a refund and if I don't get a refund to contact the seller myself because they don't have access to their financials. Wow, thanks for the great customer service! Won't be using this website again.
I have ordered my books used with my knowledge that they would in fact be used. I expected signs of wear, and that's exactly what I have received. One of the books had tape to help hold it together, but I didn't mind as long as it was falling apart. The books were extremely reasonable, and I'm happy with their service. I saved money and enjoyed.
When purchasing textbooks, be VERY careful. Textbooks.com will take NO responsibility for any "Marketplace" books that they sell on their site. If the seller cancels the sale, you are not notified. If your textbook doesn't arrive, good luck getting it replaced or getting a refund. You are totally on your own, and no one in Customer Service will take responsibility. I am out the cost of textbooks that I paid for, which never arrived. The "Marketplace" seller - who I had to track down by myself, states that they notified Textbooks.com that my order couldn't be fulfilled. This notice was never forwarded to me. I did receive a confirmation of my order, a shipping date, and an anticipated delivery date, however. Still no textbook.
They had a buy back program, but do not trust them. Even though my book is very good, but they said it was water damage when they received it. So, if i like to receive my book back, they will charge me 12.50. This is definitely a scam, now I lost my book. They are not worthy to have one star... Get away from them.
After they received my textbook, which was in excellent condition, they claimed it was damaged because the access code was scratched off. They stated they would not pay me, and they would recycle the book. There is no mention of access codes anywhere in their long list of selling textbooks requirements on their website. Also, under buying textbooks on their website, it states only new textbooks come with access codes and used textbooks do NOT come with access codes. Seems to me they are playing both ends, in order to rip off the consumer.
Sent them a book in excellent condition, and they allege the book was damaged. They now want $6.25 to return my book. There must be a way this fraudulent site be shut down and the owners arrested for robbery. Online criminals!
I recently purchased a book in "very good" condition from a seller on their Marketplace. The book I received was in "acceptable" condition at best, with cover practically falling off. Enough said. Stay away.
PLEASE be advised that most of their textbook are only valid for 60 days. I purchased a book mid-semester (2-28-17) and lost access to the book on (4-30-17). This company does not make it obvious to buyers that they will only have access for 60 days. Shame on you Textbooks.com. This company should obviously know that most college semesters are longer than 60 days. PLEASE purchase from an other website.
Answer: NO... They are selling counterfeit books on their site and when you ask for a refund you get no response whatsoever. Stay away from this company as it is a clear scam on college students wanting to save money on textbooks.
